Give In

Rate this book
I watched her. I knew I shouldn’t. It was a mistake. Wrong. Forbidden. A glimpse of heaven before a depraved angel led me to hell. One email was all it would take to end the torture. A simple email, dropping Eden Wilder from my class and my life. But I couldn’t do it. I was selfish—taking any bit of her I could. That’s how addictions start. You give in just a little. Just once. Before long, your obsession has grown into a violent storm, shrouding you in darkness as it consumes your thoughts. Consumes your whole damn life. And everything you’ve worked for is gone. But you honestly don’t give a f*ck. You’d serve your soul up on a silver platter for your addiction. And she was mine. Recommended for readers 18+ due to strong adult language, themes, and a stalkerific hero who puts the FUN in dysfunctional. Enjoy!

Growing up, Layla Frost used to hide under her blanket with a flashlight to read the Sweet Valley High books she pilfered from her older sister. It wasn’t long before she was reading hidden Harlequins during class at school. This snowballed into pulling all-nighters after the promise of “just one more chapter”.

Her love of reading, especially the romance genre, took root early and has grown immeasurably until it was time to write her own stories.

When she's not writing, Layla Frost is an insomniac with a deep love of iced coffee, tchotchkes, plants, and her hens. She's also the world's okayest mom, but her kids think she's cool... ish.

“She was my promise land.
My secret.
My obsession.”

Give In, by Layla Frost, is one of those books that when you read the final page, you just sit there for a few minutes, staring at your e-reader in awe perhaps. Layla is a new to me author and she has won my heart. While I was reading this, it took up every bit of my brain, no matter what I was doing. There was only one goal throughout my day, to finish whatever it was I was doing so I can get back to reading.

Damien Caine is a thirty-four year old Political Theory Professor at a college in Boston. Students flock to his class, especially the female ones. But he has never been the least bit tempted to break the rules. That is until this semester when Eden Wilder walked into his classroom. He was addicted to her, could think of nothing else. He should transfer her to another class but he can’t do it. Then, at a bachelor party held at a strip joint called Sinners, he can’t believe his eyes when he sees her there dancing. And his obsession jumped to a whole new level.

sexy male college professor

Eden is a twenty-two year old student who is struggling to do well in her classes, while trying to work to earn enough money to pay the bills. She’s been through numerous jobs but none of them paid enough until she tried dancing at Sinners. She chose Sinners because it was a good distance away from the school so no one would see her there. That is until Professor Caine walked in, the very same professor that had filled her dreams and fantasies since the first day of class.

“I’m just a puppet, and he’s pulling the strings.”

pole dancing

When Damien keeps coming back to the club, Eden is sure it’s because he plans to somehow use his knowledge of where she works against her. She has no idea how he feels, the depth of his obsession with her.

“A depraved angel walked into my life, and I became obsessed with breaking her halo to give her horns.”

sexy

Damien knows he should stay away from her. Damien has a dark side, a need for control, a side he shouldn’t expose Eden to. But what he soon realizes is that even though Eden doesn’t realize it yet, she needs what Damien has to offer, wants it, craves it even.

“I was wrong about her.
She doesn’t have droplets of darkness.
She has an ocean of it, deeper than I’d have ever guessed.
And I’m drowning.”

Damien and Eden fight the thing between them. It could ruin both of their lives, Damien’s career and Eden’s education. Eden should feel wrong about the things that Damien does to her, things that shouldn’t make her feel the way they do. Eden has secrets, walls upon walls built around herself. Little by little Damien is chipping away at those walls. But he wants to consume her, he wants all of her, he wants her to give in, and she can’t. She just can’t.

First of all, this book is as hot as an inferno. I loved Damien but I admit to hating him a little bit too. His need for control was overwhelming and my heart broke for Eden at times. But rest assured that Eden is no weak pushover. She is a strong, self reliant woman fighting to survive on her own. She has never had anyone she could count on and she was constantly in battle with herself to fight against Damien or to Give In.

I hope you’ll grab this book and it will consume you just as it did me. I can’t wait for you to meet Damien and Eden. You can definitely count on seeing me read more from this author in the future. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

4 Dr. Jekyll and Dickhole Hyde Stars ⭐

Being a stripper isn’t the long-term plan, but it certainly pays the bills in the interim. Believing she was relatively safe from her side job being exposed, Eden Wilder is freaked to see Professor Caine in the audience. Her Political Theory Professor who barely acknowledges her in class, the one that most college girls’ lust after? Watching her on stage, requesting her services for lap dances; yes, that one. What’s more, he keeps returning. Eden shouldn’t be caught up in someone so unattainable but playing it safe hasn’t been appealing for a long time.

"Determined to live differently, I’d promised myself sizzle and crackle.

I’d vowed to never settle, refusing to give up my dream of all-encompassing heat. Of love and passion, wild desire and blind want."

Damien Caine doesn’t know when his addiction for Eden became so out of hand. No denying she appealed to him from their first encounter in class, he’s kept his feelings completely in check. Realising that the beautifully talented young woman moonlights as a stripper; mind-blowing. She will be his undoing if he doesn’t stop obsessing over her…..

"My Eden. She was named after the garden of pleasure.

The holder of untold bounty.

The place where sin lurked, and temptation dwelled.

She was my promise land. My secret."

Somehow keeping each other’s secret has become a game. Eden is convinced that this is purely an act of manipulation on Damien’s part, but for what reason? Damien has unintentionally backed himself into a corner. If he reveals his hand, Eden would understand that his animosity towards her is purely a cover for his lust. But the alternative is letting her go, which isn’t really an option.

"We were a dysfunctional pendulum—a wrecking ball swinging between bitter animosity and unrelenting desire.

Both had the power to hurt.

Only one would inevitably destroy me."

Give In was an amazing erotic romance with dark undertones that kept you enthralled the entire read. Surprisingly, this was slow burn but was completely delicious, forever leading to the moment where they no longer could resist. I seriously enjoyed the Professor with stalker tendencies and fucked up ideals and his student who refused to bend while compromising her soul. Never really knowing how each moment would play out, it kept me flipping pages as quickly as I could. What you can expect is delicious foreplay with a side of spanking, you've been warned!

"You’re mine. I’m going to fuck you the way I like, you’ll love it and beg for more, and you’ll listen to me without putting up a damn fight.

And, above all else, Eden, you’re going to trust me."

One Stalker-licious Hero!

Holy heck! This author claimed Give In to be a slow burn and in some aspects it is, but it’s the hottest slow burn I’ve ever read!

I’ve always enjoyed a taboo story and teacher/student is definitely one of my favorites. However, the “fear of getting caught” as the plot has worn thin, in my opinion. This is not that book. While there is definitely the anxiety of someone finding out, this goes far beyond that simple storyline.

From the very first words this starts out with full blown emotion. The first being panic, mortification and awkwardness before moving through pretty much every feeling known to womankind. And I felt every single one of them as Eden and Damien experienced them.

description

Filled with stubborn willfulness, Eden denies not only her own desires but those of the man who has intrigued her from day one. She fights against the attraction even as Damien’s cold demeanor allows her to keep her mask firmly in place. Eden is a strong heroine, fierce in her independence but with a vulnerability about her that makes her a highly likable character.

Damien is completely obsessed with her to the point he’s doing things completely outside what he knows to be appropriate. He’s a man struggling with his desires and protecting Eden from following him into Hell where he’s sure to lead her.

description

Professor Damien Caine is everything you could want in an alpha hero that exhibits strong jealous, possessive and protective tendencies. He could have written the book on it. Along with the one on how to stalk the woman you’re completely obsessed with.

I’m not a fan of BDSM but I’m not completely averse to it either. While Give In does have elements of it, it is not a hardcore BDSM book. In my opinion, the largest part of this lifestyle highlighted in the story is the control that Damien exerts over Eden.

description

Yet even as he pushes for domination, she pushes right back. I loved that even while she was yielding to him she still remained true to herself. However, it is my belief that it is not all about overpowering the woman and dominating her, but giving her a safe place to land and connect with her emotions. To me, that is what this story is all about and it was done in such an amazing style that I couldn’t imagine it any other way, enjoying every moment of it as it unfolded.

The conflict for this couple is mostly internal with a few external issues that have to be dealt with along the way. While the drama is relatively low, this story is all about the characters. Their relationship resolution was so well done and only added to the list of reasons I love Professor Caine.

description

He always knew what Eden needed and either provided it for her or pushed her to search within herself to find what she needed to deal with her emotional fallouts. This also has a freaking amazing epilogue with a great little something-something that’s going to make your jaw drop.

I can’t recommend this book enough if you love your hero a bit stalkery, a lot possessive and completely dominate as well as a heroine who is a bit broken but in reality is kickass in her own unique way.

This has one of the best tug of war relationships. Professor Caine stalked. He'd advance then retreat. He stalked some more, advanced and then retreated. It was like reading a chess match being played out live and in color in my brain. Eden never had a chance. He was determined to make her his and he played to win.

While Professor Caine is the biggest reason I loved this book, Eden was just as much a treat. I am such a fan of a heroine who stands up for herself. One who doesn't just fall at the feet of the man because he's hot. She has huge walls built around her, the reason Professor Caine came at her like he was going to war, but she had dignity. He was hard to read and when she thought he was playing with her, she reacted the way I want heroines to react. She showed him she will not blindly follow and I loved it. I reveled in it!

Who would have thought that the name Professor Caine would be so erotic??? After reading this, just the thought of his name has so many visuals running through my head. It's not even because this is a forbidden teacher/student story. Maybe it's because it should have been forbidden but in his eyes, it never was. She was his and he didn't care who knew about it.

This one is definitely going on my re-reads list. I'm gonna need more of Professor Caine. He's going to make you blush like a school girl. ARC provided by author.

It was a well executed and deliciously kinky story. If one just sees it as such.

Because let me tell you, the hero was really the worst professor ever (ignoring his student because she's tempting? get over yourself and teach her, motherfucker!). The first half with them not talking while stripping was waaay too dragging, plus the hero gave off some unpleasant passive aggressive vibes (and that's my biggest pet peeve).

Also I wanted to see some more of the heroine's high intelligence in class or in her dialogues with the professor. I mean I understand it was a smutty story, but I wanted to hear some of those "abstract yet plausible theories" everybody kept talking about; because much was lost in descriptions like "we spent long evenings talking about everything" and not enough of those talks.

But do not let my annoyance fool you, because the writing was quite good and I could not stop reading. The way the kinks were introduced was done oh so well, I really couldn't get enough of their crazy obsession with each other, the push and pull - everything. (A little less use of the words "dysfunctional" and "depraved angel" would do really good though.)

Every time I thought I knew her, she surprised me. And every time I thought I knew the depths of my addiction to her, she said something like that and fell deeper. Or she smiled, and I fell deeper. Or laughed. Talked. Moved. Breathed. Existed.

All in all, if you are looking for a good kinky story with hard spankings and an obsessively possessive hero, look no further.

There was a tingle up my spine…

There are certain authors that I read without even a quick squiz at the blurb. Layla Frost is one of those authors. I opened the first chapter and a shiver went up my spine. The words hit my eyes and a smile broke free. There is nothing better than returning to a favourite author and knowing by the end of the first page that I was about to experience magic. I was being led on a journey of discovery, taken out of my comfort zone and pushed to see past my narrow existence. I absolutely LOVED Give In.

So, after the first giddy high, I started to pay a wee bit more attention and found myself bracing. See, it’s been a while since I could sink into a kinky book and not just escape out of my head and question every move and decision the characters make. In Give In, I wasn’t given too much time to become judge and jury. I was sucked wholly into the lives of Professor Caine and his angel, Eden Wilder.

Give In is a love story. We’re not expected to accept the kinky scenes as something to spice up the relationship. Damien Caine is a forceful, dominant and commanding man who knows that he wants to be Eden’s whole world. Caine doesn’t act on his lust or attraction initially, he watches and waits patiently for the right time. And, that right time happens the first time he sees her on stage. He wants to control and keep her just for himself. Capturing his Angel will change both of their lives.

HOLY SHAMOLY…THIS BOOK IS HOT!! Honestly, Give In is one of the SEXIEST books I’ve read in a while, and the funniest part is, it’s a slow burn. I can hear you all say…what…how can the sexiest book be a slow burn? Well, my friends, anticipation is the name…and anticipation surely was the game. You couldn’t even call it play-time because he’s like this ALL THE TIME! When Professor Caine stepped into the room and made demands, I was enthralled. Eden's initial hesitations made the storyline believable. I became convinced that Eden enjoyed receiving her punishments as much as Professor Caine enjoyed dolling them out. Wow, I’m getting hot again just typing this review.

This is not your typical New Adult College Romance. This is not kinky for the sake of kinky. There’s a wee bit of drama and intrigue but nothing I couldn’t handle. The kinky play has a little red-room-of-pain feel to it, but it was obvious that both Caine and Eden enjoyed it. There’s mutual respect, a deep connection and trust between the two of them. Some would say that Professor Caine was a bit stalkerish, I’d call it protecting and keeping an eye on his future.

Anyways, I friggin LOVED Give In. If you’re looking for a sexy, exciting and fantastic story that will grab your attention from the start, look no further. Straight to my best-of-the-bestest shelf. Layla Frost…I want MORE!!

Nope, nope and Nope

“Leaning closer, the blonde whispered, “Or maybe get together later? I’ve never met up with a customer.”
I almost choked on my beer. I’d sooner believe her snatch was a working credit card reader.
Not that it mattered. I didn’t want a dance, and I sure as hell didn’t want to fuck her.”

5 ‘ Holy mother of BUILD UPS’ Stars

Oh. My. World! This book, and this build up, devastated and put me back together in the most unexpected of ways! I have no doubt Professor Caine and his angel, his Eden, won’t soon be forgotten!

Give In truly is all about the build up, the slow burn that you deliciously want to gorge on, but slowly taste to enjoy every single moment! From the very first page you could see something BIG was coming, and all small details and intricate subliminal hints just made the anticipation that more delicious.

My Eden.

She was named after the garden of pleasure. The holder of untold bounty. The place where sin lurked and temptation dwelled.

She was my promise land.

My secret.

My obsession since she’d walked into my class a few weeks before.

For months now, Professor Caine and Eden have been playing a game, first by completely ignoring – and majorly failing – to fight their attraction, and second to push each other’s buttons for reaction, specially after Damien finds out about Eden’s money earning job as stripper. For then he just can’t resist, specially not with his hidden possessive and dominant nature. No one is allowed to see and touch what is his, and after so long fighting his urges when it came to Eden, he slowly, oh so slowly, starts losing the battle with his control. All because of his depraved angel….

Some people believe that at death, an angel comes to guide souls to heaven.

If that was true, Eden was the angel they sent to guide souls to hell. She’d give them a glimpse of heaven before they spent their eternity in fire.

And every soul would follow her willingly.

And so the true battle begins, with Eden constantly pushing away, his unwavering pulling back, and all that SEXUAL TENSION, oh boy,Ms. Frost sure knew how to rev up our engines with all this heat. The slow burn just built up to scorching proportions when their relationship climaxed.

Because I was a marionette…

And that very bad part of me wanted to hand Damien Caine my strings.

It was truly about power play and control, so much about control. SO if you’re worried with the BDSM potential content, don’t be, because this was all about power play and control owned by the über dominant figure that was Professor Caine. The insane PASSION and smoking hot, sexually charge moments take dominance, and that is what is all about. His showing her a new and passionate world where she could truly be herself, and him her everything. Their student/ teacher trope just gave it that extra spicy kick of the forbidden, that I love so much.

“You’re doing that thing where you sound calm, but I can feel that you aren’t. How does no one else notice that?”

“Because no one else is made for me the way you are.

It was a long way until Eden stopped pushing so much and allowed Professor Caine to show her even a glimpse of all he wanted for her, for them. It was indeed a troubled, bumpy ride, with Eden not only pushing away constantly, – and justifiably so considering his apparent cold, dismissive and even mean demeanor towards her in the first third of the story -therefore making me feel aggravated towards her but also using MY beloved Brooks (that’s right, very seldom I find myself rooting for the OM, but this man was just ah-amazing!) as a ‘rebound’, sometimes going to far for my personal liking, but fortunately realizing soon enough to cross the boundaries. It was just too long her pushing and her sometime immature trigger reactions that made us dislike her a bit.

Fortunately Damien, after revealing his true nature and feelings in the second part of the book made up for any less fortunate attitudes of both characters – his initial icy facade towards her, and specially her bad decision as consequence of acting without thinking first and not talking, lol -, he completely stole my heart with his swoon-worthiness and the depth of his feeling we could feel seeping through every word, gesture and thought when it came to Eden.

Ethereal.

An angel.

Mine.

Completely fucking worth it.

My depraved angel, promising me paradise before leading me to hell.

Dark, but not overly so, just enough to give it that extra edge, just making Professor Caine, über controlling self that more delicious, and their romance that more forbidden/taboo. The secondary character – including MY man Brooks, were interesting and appealing on themselves, and made the storyline that much richer. Their power play and romance was truly the focus of the book, but there were so many side elements that enhanced that hooked us even more to the story, and these two.

For all his demands, it wasn’t my immediate, mindless obedience he wanted. He wanted me to stand tall against him.

And then he wanted me to give in.

I had to be insane to want it. But I did. “I want it all.”

And once she FINALLY gave in, it was such a thrill and joy, not only to Damien and Eden, but ourselves as readers! A true climax that left me beyond satisfied, relieved and overjoyed. After all that build up, all that insane sexual tension, and scorching HOT sexy scenes, it was like an vulcan of emotions and giddiness exploding! Ms. Layla Frost truly has an immeasurable writing talent, and Give In showed that in spades. The wittiness, the complexity, and the snarky humor were so brilliantly weaved, that I had no change but to devour the story wholesome heartedly, and even after that amazing and beautiful ending even wish for more. Considering how these two put us through the ringer, lol, that says it all, that like the greedy reader I am, I wanted even more and more. Let the stalking for a new LF book begin!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“You want to break me.”

“So fucking badly.”

“So you can rebuild me. Change me.”

“What the hell would I change? You’re already perfect,”

“I want to break you so you let me past all these walls you have up. I want to consume your thoughts. I want to be your addiction. Your obsession. I want you to feel what I feel and need me even a fraction as much as I need you.” His midnight eyes seared into mine, his voice pleading. “Give in. Trust me to take care of you because I love you, Eden.”

A cacophony of erotic chaos.

My favorite song.

“Told you, my depraved angel, you can lead me to hell, but as long as I keep getting glimpses of your heaven, I’ll happily follow.”

Confusing

This was a little difficult to read. The beginning started out great, but then quickly got boring. I thought Damien was going to be a lot more of an alpha male but ended up more of a wishy-washy guy who likes a little BDSM. There was a lot of vague alluding to her background and his. Both ended up to be seemingly trivial and just wanted to hype up the suspense. All that anticipation that Eden was in danger and Damien would save her from her possibly criminal parents, and as it turns out she was just hiding the fact that they were just terrible parents.

I was disappointed that I didn't like this one as much as some of her other books like "With Us" the first book in her Amato series. I do like this author so I will continue to read her books and maybe this one was just a fluke.

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: I am drawn to the taboo Professor/student age-gap type stories, so this was appealing in that way. The epilogue (except that one part I mention below).

The Not-So-Good: The pacing. While I never skimmed, I definitely wanted to at times because it had ebbs and flows of nothing significant happening (except the H making dominant declarations and the h being bratty against it) and then dropping in some dramatic element to speed it up randomly.

The Bad: The dramatic elements *BIG spoilers*. They felt just thrown in and not cohesive in a way. The h was also annoying in her bratty behavior. It wasn’t sassy or cute in any way — it was bratty.

Overall: This was kind of a mess for me. It felt like the author wanted to have another secret submissive that really needs that lifestyle but doesn’t know it and the dominant jerk (in a taboo situation) that is up for the job type story. I felt like it wasn’t fully developed. It felt like it was random elements being thrown in and then she called it a book. There were so many that it felt disjointed in a way that was even distracting and definitely was causing me to take forever in reading it. I’m honestly not sure why I didn’t put this on my DNF shelf, but I’m sure it’s because my GR friends loved it and I’m finding myself in the minority again…

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Eden and Damien’s story. Eden is a student and a stripper when she finds her political theory professor in the audience one night. If that isn’t mortifying enough, he keeps returning every night and getting private dances from her without a word. They play the game of cat and mouse for a while but things come to a head and Damien makes his intentions known and they start a secret affair. There is some past baggage and secrets to get through and some sexy times..and they get a HEA ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Eden and Damien’s POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Weird. Or it might just be the storyline for me. I never skimmed even though I was greatly tempted a few times.

Instalove: No. Instalust? Yes.

H (Hero) rating: 3 stars. Damien. I thought he was okay. I don’t feel like we got very deep into his character tbh.

h (heroine) rating: 2 stars. Eden. I struggled with her keeping secrets even though they didn’t really need to be kept. I also got really annoyed with her bratty behavior.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story. Some bdsm elements

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Not quite

Cheating: No

Separation:

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends with a cute epilogue and what I would call a HEA ending

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

4.5 stars.

There are reasons to give it 5 and to give it 4, but went with 5 because I enjoyed it up until the 90% mark.

Reasons to give it 5: the author veered away from old tropes and stereotypical characters. For example, the heroine wasnt constantly blushing, struggling to form sentences, and her nipples weren't always beacons when the hero was around. FINALLY!!!!! Details like this are what made this book really great in my opinion. Everything from the way her job and her boss was described (how it was regulated and her boss wasn't sleezy but a normal business owner) to Brooks, the heroines friend, who didnt pressure her and wasnt a total dick when she turned him down. It was all very refreshing. I'm just happy the author didnt go with the same old shit we read in every goddam book. When you read as many books as I do, you notice the small stuff and it makes a book that much more enjoyable.

I liked the heroine and hero. She stood her ground and the hero didn't backdown either. There were no details of their sexual pasts and thats how I prefer it. I will never ever EVER need detailed descriptions of how many people they were with before they were together.

Reasons to give it 4 stars: I didnt like the ending. It felt like the author wanted to end it on a big controversy and didnt know how to implement enough drama to pay it off. Making the heroine have a mental breakdown on the hero's kitchen table just felt... ehh.

This book will be very safe for most safety-gangers.
No OW drama, and barely any OM drama. Heroine kisses Brooks, a guy in her class, and they become friends. Although it does cause the hero to be very jealous in a very yummy way :)

Listen, I know that not all the books I read will be fast burns or have traditional story/character developments- shoot, I welcome the change (sometimes), but this began very slow for me. I applaud my two buddy readers for continuing when they’ve wanted to tap out 😂.

The book begins with giving us Eden’s perspective. She’s a college student who has to strip for a living in order to pay her bills, rent, and college tuition. She’s on her own and has no family to help her out. Which is fine- she likes being independent and relying only on herself. Enter her intimidating, handsome as f Professor- Damien Caine.

Damien has been watching Eden for months. He ended up at her strip club one day and saw her- which was the cherry to his dessert because he had already been noticing her before. Now he goes to the club and sees her work- and then has her give him private dances- because the temptation to not pursue her is too much and he’ll have her anyway he can.

The intensity, the stares, the protectiveness was hot (it could’ve been spicier in the beginning, but it is what it is). Even at school, there was this visceral connection that was undeniable. Their interactions always had this simmering heat behind each glance and breath. Once they cross the line, it starts heating up (think of it like a pot of boiling water- the bubbles start forming, slowly, and then eventually- BAM, it’s boiling).

The chemistry was 🥵🔥. Professor Caiden- mmm 😋 your alphaness was *chef’s kiss* (once we see it… cause… ahem… it takes a while 😅). The passion, the rawness, the connection was steamy yet beautiful.

I am VERY surprised at how controlled Damien was. I expected him to grab Eden and haul her over his shoulder SO many times (you Jane, me Tarzan style) but it doesn’t happen like that…ever 😐. Is Damien patient? Oh yes… he’s VERY patient. I mean- she continues to strip after they kiss 😳and he lets her 🙈. Even after he makes his intentions clear- she doesn’t listen 🙄and continues working 😬. Um… Damien… step in 🤦🏻‍♀️. Punish her, consume her, show her who’s boss 😅lol. I 👏🏻will👏🏻support👏🏻you!

I know why he did it. She needs to trust him. She needs to GIVE IN (nicely done Layla Frost), but man… couldn’t we get to the good stuff faster? Lol. Eden has her walls up, for good reasons (which we find out towards the end) and Damien is trying to knock them down. I had a hard time connecting to the MCs in the beginning. We don’t know why she needs to strip; well duh- it’s always about money- but we don’t know why she does that or all necessary details to get us to connect to her situation and character.

For once, I do appreciate that we actually see the h with another man (it rarely happens that way). Luckily, this was all in the beginning of the book.

Overall, I ended up enjoying it. It took a while, but I especially loved the second half of the book.

⚠️ safety squad ⚠️
-no cheating
-mild OWD- the OW that appears ends up being the H’s sister- and when the H takes another stripper to a private room, they just talk (he does this to get the h jealous)
-OMD- the h goes on a date with OM. They have heavy makeout sessions (early in the book), almost have sex- but then they get interrupted
-when the h sees the H with OW (his sister), she seeks OM and they sleep in the same bed… they end up.. petting? massaging? each other and they realized it was heading somewhere and stop

2.5 stars. I am normally a fan of this author's work, but this book missed the mark for me. Give In is Professor Damien Caine and Eden's story. Eden is in college, but is estranged from her family so she pays for her school by working as a stripper. Damien is her professor. He was at her strip club for a bachelor party when he recognized her as his student. After that, he goes to see her there often, watches her, and even gets private lap dances from her. He ignores her during class, though, which annoys Eden. Eventually, she confronts him about his behavior, sparks fly between them, and an odd dysfunctional relationship ensues.

I felt like this book took too long to get going. In the beginning, there is much focus on the couple as individuals and Eden casually dating another. I didn't need all those details about Eden's dates with Brooks. It felt like I had been reading the book forever and it was only 18%. I considered not finishing the book, because I wasn't drawn into the story at all, but I kept at it. Once it got going, I was turned off by the cat and mouse game the couple played. There was so much push and pull and dislike for each other. I didn't particularly like either character. Professor Damien Caine was a cold jerk most of the time. Eden was okay, but had moments of acting out like a petulant child, bratty and immature behavior. Both were flawed and at times hard to like. They both kept walls high up between them and never seemed to truly relax with each other. There is some play at BDSM, but expectations weren't fully explained between them so it left me confused as to what Damien was going for. They both treated each other badly at times and they even admit that their relationship is dysfunctional. But by the end, they decide that they like being dysfunctional. I highly doubted they could continue this relationship long term. Also, some things were left vague that I felt should have been clarified, like details about Eden's family and Damien's job. There is very little tension or fear, where I would have expected, from Damien about anyone finding out he is dating a student.

Overall, I didn't really enjoy this book. I didn't really "get" this couple or their relationship. Still, I suggest you read the book and decide your own opinion for yourself. I still like this author's work and will try her again in the future.

WOWSA!!!!! I binged this book in one session and I do not regret ignoring the real world, or feeding my family leftovers - totally worth it.

Professor Caine is EVERYTHING I love in an alpha, a true dominant -not a guy playing at being a dominant - there's a HUGE difference. He was the very definition of filthy dominance and it was delicious. His dialogue is the very best kind of dirty darkness and felt so genuine I was squirming while reading, the kink in this book is some of the best I've read and is CRAZY HOT!!

PSA - Ensure your other half is home or you have fresh batteries cause you're going to need them 🔥🔥🔥

"But a sinner had to want to be a saint. And I sure as hell didn’t. I wanted to take the apple. Devour it. Let the juices cover me before going back for more. I wanted to break my angel’s halo and use the pieces to make her horns."

Eden was a complicated young woman - hiding secrets, striving for her goals and doing all this while exploring her blossoming sexuality in a way that equal parts intrigued and terrified her. Her hidden darkness called to Professor Caine in the best possible way. Their chemistry was palpable.

"It was the want that fueled me. Her droplets of darkness calling out to my ocean."

These two together are what student/teacher romance should always be about. The Forbidden. The Secret Moments. The Chemistry that can't be ignored. Gah - Sooo delicious!!!

Can I also say that I loved how the author explored the softer/caring side of BDSM and the way a true dominant cares for his sub. It's not all spankings and rough sex (although that is definitely hot), it's not what true dominance is actually about and this was so beautifully portrayed here.

This story is in Eden's own words - Filthy Sweet and I cannot recommend it enough. One of my favourite reads of 2018.

I received an arc of this book.

I love a good teacher - student romance and what I got with Layla Frost’s Give In was an amazing one!!

Professor Caine can spank me anytime 😉😂. I love that he’s such an alpha asshole, jealous & possessive, kinky, dominant and controlling and perfect for Eden. He knows what she needs and even though she fights it, he never backs off and when she finally succumbs to him, oh it was utterly delicious!!

I love Eden but of course I love Caine more but what I love the most is Layla’s decadent prose, I practically inhaled this book it was sooooo good.

College professor in his 30s, college student romance.
She’s a night time stripper to pay for her bills.
He comes into the establishment one night and sees her. He keeps returning.... she thinks it’s a power trip, but he’s secretly besotted.
- One pro is that she’s a sexually comfortable and confident. No firsts over here. She seems very goal oriented. Has no qualms voicing her opinion. Her profession as a stripper is just that.. a role she steps into. The workplace was pretty civil and realistic.
Con: She’s running away from her “past”. It’s why she moves every couple months and never settles down. Here I was imagining someone coming after her etc she might be in danger... This was so built up that it was a major letdown imo. Her dad is a senator, her mums a drunk, they’re crap parents and her dad ends up cutting her off financially. And? So what... I’m pretty sure she was surviving off her own money by stripping anyway?
Con: It had a lot of potential but they were such high strung characters that every single chapter was a useless fight.
H: “Come into my office”
h: “No”
H: “If you don’t, I’ll come to you and I won’t be quiet”
h: “Fine.”.
H: “Come to my apartment”
h: “No, you’re sexually manipulative”
*30 minutes later he comes home and sees her car parked*
Constantly fighting for no reason... felt like there wasn’t a storyline. They really aren’t dysfunctional for any other reason than ... winding each other up.
Con: Heroine started to piss me off. One minute she wants to move away to a different state, then she wants to transfer classes. Life doesn’t work on whims. Dating Brook initially was okay but then we were subjected to unnecessary scenes of them kissing, or getting close in bed. Why? What was the reason... Page time for what? Not like the H was even there to be jealous in half of those scenes.
Con: Hero was really weird. I didn’t get his deal. It’s a shame neither character was likeable. I thought this guy was a secret billionaire with the way he seemed to disregard his job in chase of her. Turning up at student accommodations very openly at 3am. I didn’t get it.

Not safe on the heroine’s half. She’s semi dating this guy who sits next to her in the class of the H. They go as far as heavy kissing/petting.

Let me start by saying that I’m not a fan of taboo stories or BDSM, but I loved this book so freaking much.
Talk about possessive, jealous, controlling, stalker and obsessive Alpha male..holy d*mn!!
Eden is stubborn and strong willed and loved that even though she’s young, she stands for herself.
Professor Cain..swoon..what can I say? He had me hot with all his dirty talk and BDSM.
D*mn..he was addicted to his depraved angel.
This book was slow burn and I had me all anxious that they wouldn’t be caught.
I’m definitely going to re-read this book, it’s so amazing and HOT🔥

*No matter what the topic someone in the world would find fault with it. It didn’t make them correct. It just meant there was a lot judgement from a lot of people who were probably doing much worse.*
Loved that quote so much!

Mrs. Frost I bow to you. This book was amazing!!
I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

4 Stars

OK, so if I could give 5 Stars for Professor Caine ALONE then yes, I am doing that, he was soooooo sexy, so alpha, so just.....YUMMY!!!! I FLOVED him:)

Now, if I could give 1 or 0 Stars for Eden, then yes I am giving her between a 0-1 Star. Ughhhhh, I hated her, I mean she was annoying to no end, I couldn't take her and the only reason I pushed on was for Caine and Caine ONLY! She was annoying, stubborn, just a damn biotch!

It's too bad because he deserved SO MUCH better and I would have loved a better more deserving lead woman for him.....and YES she was just a "girl" she was so immature for her age! In one word for me, she acted like a BRAT!

Sorry, for the rant but I truly disliked her A LOT!!!!!!!! For me, her character ruined what would have been a great story!

2 1/2 "Dysfunctional" Stars!

This really wasn't that bad at all. But what it was, was Fifty Shades of Grey fan fiction. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but that was my take. Happy reading!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book but I was very pleasantly surprised, it’s slightly taboo but not in a way that you can disapprove of the teacher wanting a student.

Eden is a strong independent woman trying to make her way through college and hiding from her previous reality. Her job is very risqué, working as a stripper at Sinners is not ideal but it pays better than bartending and the tips are way better. It’s far enough away from the college campus that she never expected to see anyone she knew least of all the professor who claims her secret fantasies. Even though he ignores her in class and never calls on her to answer questions she still can’t help but want him. He frustrates her, antagonises her and yeah hurts her feelings when he passes her over every time but now he knows where she works he turns up night after night and watches her, is he playing power games with her knowing he could destroy her if he wanted or is he there for another reason? Not that it matters she knows she will have to move on soon as her secrets could destroy the life she’s building but will she get away before they catch up with her?

Professor Caine is a thirty four year old teacher he’s never once been tempted by a student but that was before Eden Wilder walked into his classroom. That day changes everything he knows he must have her but he needs to be patient but that was before he saw her strip in Sinners and now he can’t stay away from her. He’s a dominant man and recognises how perfect she is for him. How will she react when he finally makes his move and can he convince her to give them a chance?

Not your typical new adult book but highly enjoyable, plenty of drama surrounds this couple and their chemistry is seriously hot! Who doesn’t love a stalkerish Professor and a feisty heroine who has no problem pushing back against the rules?

This was okay. Not too angsty, and I was never bored. I did get annoyed at times with how much push and pull there was though, because it lasted up til about 90% of the book and it just got so repetitive. The entire book the heroine would basically say no or refuse to listen to the hero, and the hero just kept telling her what to do and threatening a punishment for not listening to him. So, a lot of spanking and demanding. I do like how the heroine had more of a backbone and didn't just give in, but at the same time, I felt like she would pick fights with him for no reason and her lying and constant refusals were getting on my nerves. It made her seem like she didn't care for the hero as much as he did her, and lessened whatever chemistry they had. Overall, a decent book but nothing necessarily special.

Safety:

H is 34/h is 22

No virgins, and no manhos(?)

No cheating necessarily (see om drama)

Hero was celibate after meeting, heroine was too I believe, but no confirmation

Ow drama: hero pretends to get a private dance from h's coworker, but it was only to get info on the heroine

Om drama: h dated om, and kissed him a couple times. At around 45ish%, thinking the hero was with ow, she went to om and got drunk and made out with him/felt each other up, but stopped before it went too far

1 star for the cover

This was so tedious to read and I just wanted it to be over. I wanted to DNF it so many times, I finished it out of the perverse desire to prove myself right, that this deserved 1 star.

So H is the professor, he was supposed to like the h ever since he saw her but he really didn’t do anything to be close to her until he saw her accidentally in a strip club where she was working and he was with a stag party.

Anyway, so many back and forth on whether they like each other or not.. so tedious, he just asks like a jerk rather than a true j/p man. He has orgasm denial which really sucks to read. He keeps on harping that she needs to quit stripping but never really offered an alternative way for her to secure funds coz she actually needed the money, she wasn’t stripping for fun.

Anyway read at your own risk

This is one of those little gems when I am reading I am glancing around to see who might catch me lol!

Damien was an exquisite MC. His is dominant, controlling, and punisher. Whose punishments are to die for! Such a sexy character. There isn't a thing I would change about him or the ending he received. Brillant

On the other hand Eden began to bug me toward the end which dropped the rating for me. You can only deny things so many times or lie so many times...then I hit the point of irritation. She lacked a bit for me.

Great read! If you want a hot extremely naughty one grab this!

Happy Reading! DD
