SO SO CUTE. This Valentine’s Day themed rom-com was such a delight. Eliza, a cupid, is the daughter of two cupids, and the twin of Elijah, a cupid who helps in the family business and is the perfect son. Eliza, unfortunately, has a super-powerful gift that seems to always malfunction, causing random strangers to fall in love with her every time she’s clumsy and trips into them. (Trust me, it’s cute.)

For years, she’s shied away from anything with red hearts or chocolate, but after a family emergency, she knows she has to step in and join the family love business. This was SO FUNNY, sexy, and just cute, as Eliza struggles to find her way, find her powers, and discovers Jake, the guy she’s had a crush on all along may be more than enchanted with her. Bonus points for cute animal scenes including pigs and sea lions!! So funny!

When a single arrow inspires romance, can you really trust happily ever after?

Crazy Cupid Love is the first book in a new series, “Let’s Get Mythical,” and, seriously, who can resist all of that word play!? Not me! This is exactly the fun, whimsical story I was searching for to read this holiday! The storyline is utterly charming, where Eros’ descendants are now living among us mere mortals and blending in as matchmakers as we swipe left or right. Eliza Hermann, aka the world’s worst Cupid, has spent her entire life trying to run from the family business – that helping couples find their true love. Liza is an Erosian (a descendant of Eros, the Greek God of Love and Desire) and one of the most powerful Cupids there is. Because of this she has had mishaps all of her life merely by bumping into the wrong person. It’s been quite a problem for her – and her family. Now, however, with the business in trouble,( there’s a lot of cynicism in today’s world and Cupids aren’t exactly on everyone’s favorite list,) and with her father in the hospital recovering from a heart attack, Liza has to renew her Cupid’s license and give match-making a try once again. That is easier said than accomplished, especially when her enchantments begin to fail and cause an outbreak of hate and bickering rather than love.

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. This sounds a little fanciful, a tad bit whimsical but isn’t that what love and Valentine’s day is all about? Yes, it is. The story itself is actually very good. It is based on the Greek myth of Eros and the supporting characters, the Fates and Furies, Discords and more, all are authentically based in actual Greek mythological tales. There is a wonderful tie-in with modern artificial intelligence and how it will affect human relationships and love, an underlying romance between Liza and her childhood crush who has moved back and a pretty good mystery regarding the reverse enchantments as well.

I love mythology, from Ovid’s Metamorphosis to Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology>/b>. I also adore fairy tale re-creations and Crazy Cupid Love beautifully marries the premise of these all into one delightful book. If you like mythology or fairy tales or even quirky romances, then you will love Crazy Cupid Love. Regardless, have a lovely Valentine’s Day!

This was such a fun book to read!
I loved it ❤️!
It was original, funny, quirky and with a good dash of steamy as well 😘. I love Greek mythology and I am always game to read any book even remotely connected to it and this book did not disappoint. It was refreshing to see the characters in a romantic comedy setting for a change but then when you have a story comprising of the descendants of Eros, the god of Love, (the modern day Cupids) and their shenanigans to keep the love enchantment business alive and kicking, it really can't be sold as a tragedy now, can it?

Many thanks to Netgally, the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC.

Crazy Cupid Love is a humorous upbeat contemporary romance with a bit of Greek mythology thrown in.
The main character Eliza Herman comes from a family of Erosians, descendants of Ancient Greek God of Love, who run a slightly old-fashioned matchmaking business. Eliza, however, is a bit of a black sheep in her family- she is clumsy and prone to accidentally enchanting senior citizens, and, worst of all, she does not really believe in love. When her father suddenly falls ill, she finds out her parents’ Cupid agency is in financial trouble. Eliza is keen to stand in, but she needs to get a temporary licence even to answer phones- Cupid business is heavily regulated by A.S.S. (Affection, Seduction and Shellfish department). In order to get that, she needs a mentor who would supervise her first enchantments. Enter Jack Sanders, her childhood BFF and lifelong crush, who has somehow turned into one of the sexiest men alive. The chemistry between the two main characters is amazing, and is one of the best features of this novel. Eliza’s first three cases go really well and she begins to feel she can make her parents proud. Then, things go pear-shaped and it is up to our heroes to help the hapless couples and save the world. I must admit, I did not see the twist and did not guess the villain until the very last moment, which made it even more enjoyable for me.
I loved the humour, the banter, Eliza’s incredible predicaments, the Nereid night and, of course, Ron deserves a special mention.
If you are looking for something light-hearted and romantic at the same time, go for this book, it won’t disappoint you.

Crazy Cupid Love by Amanda Heger

Wickedly adorable. Capital L - Loved it. Paranormal romance.
Cupids are out in the open and getting paid to put their spells of enchantment on wanna-be lovers worldwide.
Filled with wordy humor and tongue-in-cheek lines, this romance tickled me quite often throughout the parody of this new world. Other Descendants (Disney or Greek Gods?) are still hidden from the human population. There is a Descendant bar scene at Dionysus that I would love to revisit. I can bet Quinn has a story she wants told.
The accidental enchantment of the orange Ford mustang named Ron Weasley is ambrosial.
The world building is unique and filled to the BRIM with descriptive objects and rules.

Overall, while it was long in word count, it was a delight to read.

Thanks to @SourcebooksCasa for a paperback ARC.

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun read! I didn't know what to expect when I started this one and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
The premise was very nice. Eliza, a descendant of Eros, fills in at her family Cupid-for-hire shop and makes couple fall in love. Unfortunately she also accidentally enchants Jake, her mentor!
I was sold! The novel is filled with funny moments but it also has its steamy and romantic scenes.
This book was such a nice surprise and I really can't wait to see what the author has in store for the future.

ARC REVIEW

Let's Get Mythical #1, I was real excited to read this. With RT Books Review calling it "Percy Jackson for Romance Fans." I was expecting a slightly more Urban Fantasy-esk/Rom-Com rather than just a Rom-Com with Mythological tendencies. It was a nice read, the first half was a slow build up of the story, establishing characters, backstories, and setting up of the conflict. It also set up the romantic connection between Eliza and Jake.

Eliza and Jake have known each other since they were kids but as soon as they hit puberty they became aware of each other in terms of boy and girl. Eliza out of fear of rejection distanced herself from Jake and Jake not knowing what else to do let it happen. They went their separate ways until now. Eliza has always been a klutz, that wouldn't be a big deal if she wasn't a Descendant of Eros, as a cupid any minor injury she inflicts on someone causes a love charm. She gave up on being a good cupid early one especially when she failed spectacularly when trying to get her cupid license. But her father just had another major heart attack and her mother has been suspended and her brother has a conference he has to go to. That leaves Eliza to pick up the slack that means getting her provisional license and that means she needs a mentor, that's where Jake comes in.

Jake has always loved Eliza, his time in the Cupid Corp gave him time away from her to get his head on straight but as soon as he got back it was like he never went away. If only she hadn't accidentally hit him with an enchantment now Eliza is confused that Jake is only acting this way because of it or if he really likes her. If falling in love with your mentor isn't troubling enough Eliza's enchantments start to backfire and pretty soon it's not just her license on the line it's her parents reputation and worse case scenario all of mythical-kind.

Overall, it had a much better finish than a start. Things started to pick up at the halfway point it has a really good climatic finish and a fun epilogue. I am curious about where she's going to go with the next book, she put in lots of fun mythological creatures to pick from. (it will probably be Eliza's twin brother, Elijah)

I absolutely LOVED the storyline and most of the character interactions.
I even found the ending pleasantly surprising (bit of a mystery & much comedy had here).
The two MC's Jake and Eliza grated on me slightly.
I felt like they were portrayed much younger than 29yrs and had trouble connecting to their feels.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Just when you think that the paranormal romance has shown you everything there can be, you find something new and original!  CRAZY CUPID LOVE is a fun paranormal romantic comedy and if you feel the genre has gone a little stale this may be the one to show you there's still something new to explore.   It's light on the paranormal element (mythology) and can sometimes read like a contemporary or chick lit.

The main characters of this story, Eliza and Jake, are both cupid descendants and they can perform enchantments.  Eliza's family runs a cupid-for-hire company and they are having some issues so Eliza has to step into the business even after she had made the decision of not using her abilities.  Something always seemed to go wrong.  Now she needs to get her license and Jake ends up being her mentor during this process.  But they find a lot more than they were expecting.

First of all... lets go back to the fun part of this.  I found this book incredibly endearing because it was just plain fun.  While there may have been some issues at keeping my attention, this excelled at keeping me entertained.  It's not over the top humor, but just a well crafted fun story.  I would've liked to see more of the romance.

CRAZY CUPID LOVE gets an A+ from me for originality and entertainment.  If you're tired of the same old books, give this one a try.

This one was entertaining but man I don't like it when the heroines can never catch a break. Everything that can go wrong does for the heroine who is a klutz and a non-practicing yet powerful Cupid. The world was interesting and the book kept me going.

I capital-L Loved this book! Every time I picked up my kindle in public, people would look at me like I was crazy because every few pages I would be laughing out loud. CRAZY CUPID LOVE is amusing, emotionally romantic with the perfect amount of steam, and an absolute blast to read.

The plot follows a klutzy failed Cupid named Eliza as she tries to figure out how to save her family and not fall for her former best friend turned Cupid mentor, Jake. If that sounds a little bizarre, that’s because it is, in the best way. Greek mythology and Cupids are living among us in this book, and I am here for it.

The absolute best parts of this story are the banter, Eliza’s inner dialogue, and the crazy predicaments she finds herself in. Fans of Jennifer Cruise and Katie MacAlister will enjoy this story. Eliza struck the perfect balance between sarcastic and slightly jaded without being cruel or annoying.

I will say, it took me a while to get into this book. The last 3/4 is vastly better than the first 1/4. But believe me, it’s worth all the background information and plot set up. Once you sink into Ms. Heger’s whimsical and hilarious story, you won’t want to put this book down.

Overall, I thought this plot was a breath of fresh air and beautifully executed. I can’t wait for the next book. I have no idea where Ms. Heger is taking us with this series, but I’m sure wherever she chooses there will be lots of laughs along the way!

✨ Let me show you your pleasure horn✨

Y’all call me crazy (Cupid love lol) but this was actually very surprising. It’s definitely a very strange and cooky book but I did like the Greek god influence and would definitely listen to a sequel if that ever happens! I definitely didn’t understand all of the world magic here but I liked the story enough to not care. We know I’m a salty bitch so honestly this was a great win for me!

Seriously though, from pleasure horns to wooden spoons, this book has a lot of wacky shit and plot lines. The word testicle was used approximately five more times than just about any book I’ve read recently [read: this book said testicle five times]. If you didn’t gather, Sea lions and man-droids get lucky is all I’m gonna say. I wish we would have found out later about Josh’s feelings/what happened OR to have gotten his perspective throughout the entire book. I wanted more of that man.

The narrator was good and the romance was maybe not the most important plot line but it was nice and not too angsty but had steam. I was def surprised to get explicit sex so score one for the Han team! (It was all in like one chunk of the book so my only want is to have it spread out or for there to be another scene for balance in the second half.) It’s not Valentine’s Day themed but I think this could be a yearly read for me around this time of the year. I’ll probably be the only one checking it out around Feb 14th each year so if you use the NYPL and this is checked out next year, I will fight you.

I almost DNFed this book but I am really glad that I ended up sticking it out. When I started the book I had no clue what I was getting into. I requested it on NetGalley because I liked the cover so as I started reading and find out that the story revolves around the mythological beings of cupids it really sparked my interest. Sounds like fun right...well it did take a little bit to really get into the story. Eliza has had a series of unfortunate events that follows her ever since she gained her powers as a cupid and with these mishaps she has become jaded. When her family needs her to keep their business running Eliza has to come to terms with her feelings. In the end I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the action, sweetness, sexiness, and modern day take on mythical creatures.

This was a super fun paranormal romance that has a reluctant cupid returning home to help her family business and getting wrapped up in figuring out why her matches are all of a sudden going disastrously wrong. Perfect for fans of authors like Christi Barth or April Asher. I picked this up on a whim for Valentine's day and really enjoyed it on audio. Includes some open door spicy scenes!

This was so disappointing! I loved the premise of gods among us with the focus on Cupids who can help lovers find one another. Alas, it did not live up to the premise for me. Or the marketing, for that matter. Your mileage may vary.

I decided to DNF this about 90 pages from the end as the side characters were more over the top than I could handle. Why is everyone but Jake and her dad so mean to her?! And why does she keep taking it?!) It also felt like the book was mocking Eliza’s clients at times. The clients were so over the top, so unbelievable. I didn't like the way the story addressed the Mandroids (sex robot dolls)—the author may have been going for laughs but it painted the owners as pathetic and very much shamed them. Look, I might not want to own a Mandroid but if you're going to introduce that element, you need to do it with compassion and nuance. The story also seemed to be veering into "technology is the root of all evil" territory and I just wasn't interested in that additional story arc.

Once the love story was resolved about halfway through, I was stumped as to how there was so much book left. I really hoped it would live up to the premise but I didn’t have the patience for it to get there.

I. Loved. This. Book!! This author was new to me, and this story sounded unique, so I jumped in...best decision ever. I am now in love with a new author. This story was cute and quirky and absolutely hilarious. I laughed so hard, my husband banned me from reading in bed...again. I highly recommend this adorable book to everyone I know. I’ll definitely be talking about this story for a long while. The characters are fun, but also relatable, and the story is fast paced and entertaining. Each twist and turn was unpredictable and exciting. I couldn’t put this book down. Who needs sleep when you get to read a book this amazing?!

Oh wow. I just came off of one of the worst books I've read in a long time, and I felt the funk setting in. I didn't know what to read, and everything that sounded good turned me off when I went to start it. I was literally scrolling my kindle, just randomly picking books and then I came across this one. Now, when I say I scrolled, I mean I SCROLLED. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down there. So that tells you it's been there for a while, just sitting there, forgotten about. Now, I didn't mean to forget about it, but it happened. When I looked at when it was published, it said 2019. And yes, this was an arc from Netgalley. But here's the thing...my mom died suddenly in 2019 and it completely messed me (and my reading) up. So, yeah...books were forgotten about.

But this book was fantastic. I was hooked from page 1 and couldn't put it down. I'm a sucker for anything Greek God related, and Greek gods combined with romance...I'm all in.

I loved Eliza and Jake. They were so much fun together and I loved watching Eliza try to use her Cupid powers for people. And it was fantastic watching all the oopses that happened too.

I will say, I didn't see the big bad coming. The author did a great job of keeping me guessing. I absolutely loved this book and wish there were more out in the series.

I absolutely adored this book - the world building, Jake, the humor that made me snort out loud, Jake, the mystery that I did not see coming, and did I mention Jake?

I’m one of those people who reads at the gym, and I swear, this book put me into so many awkward situations of bursting out laughing on the elliptical. It’s being called “Percy Jackson for romance fans” and I absolutely see why. The main character, Eliza, comes from a family of modern day cupids. Her parents own a Cupid business that is essentially a matchmaking service but with magic involved. Eliza is a terrible Cupid - she’s clumsy and always ends up accidentally enchanting people or screwing things up - and therefore doesn’t work for the family business.

But when her father has a heart attack and the business is at risk of closing, Eliza decides to work toward getting her Cupid license to help save it. Enter Jake, her childhood best friend, former crush, and fellow Cupid, who has to supervise her during this. It doesn’t take long for Eliza to have another incident and accidentally enchant Jake, who falls madly in love with her - but is it all due to the magic, or is there something real underneath it? However, as they work together so Eliza can train to get her Cupid license, something starts going wrong and every couple Eliza enchants starts to backfire and fall deeply in...hate.

But maybe there is something bigger going on here to cause this, and Eliza and Jake must discover what it is before the trouble results in the loss of Eliza’s family business, and a lot of failed relationships - including theirs. Seriously don’t miss this one! It’s super cute and fun and swoony and guaranteed to brighten your day :)

Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for the ARC!

This story was so much fun to read, it was creative, very entertaining and funny. I loved the heroine, Eliza, she showed you can overcome your fears if you believe in yourself and trust that people also have faith and believe in you. She and Jake had great chemistry and I adored them. 4.5/5

I hope I can put into words with this review how much I thoroughly enjoyed Crazy Cupid Love by Amanda Heger!
I didn’t really know what to expect going into Crazy Cupid Love, as this was a new author for me. I had read the synopsis and thought it sounded cutesy and hoped for an enjoyable light read. However – let me tell you – this book was so beyond anything I could have hoped for!

It was not only cutesy and fun but it was outrageously laugh-out-loud hilarious! A book that can literally make me almost pee in my pants (several times) is rare but absolutely becomes a beloved gem that I always remember to come back and do a re-read when I need a pick-me-up.

The situations our heroine, Eliza, gets herself into are out of this world and so hysterical. After giving up on being a cupid (you’ll have to read the book to get the full picture of what being a cupid entails) at a very young age and naming herself “World’s Worst Cupid ™”, she suddenly finds herself being thrown into trying to help save her family’s cupid business with the help of her childhood crush, Jake, our hero.

Not only was it rich in comedy but it also had heart. The storyline between Eliza and Jake was delicious and captivating. I’m so glad Amanda Heger offers us a little bit of Jake’s point-of-view so that we can get the full effect of all the heartwarming romance between the two characters.

The story, the characters, the whole thing – ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Crazy Cupid Love was so incredibly well written that I can not WAIT for another book from Amanda Heger!

This book was crazy cute perfection and just the book I needed to put a pep in my step. It was a cute, sweet and yet sexy paranormal romance that had me laughing out loud while in public. I loved the world that AH created and boy do I hope this is the start of a series because all I can say is I WANT MORE.
.
The heroine is a down on her luck Cupid, or should I say failing Cupid. When disaster strikes her family she needs to step up and help out which means applying for her Cupid license (again) with the help of her childhood best friend (who also happens to be our hero). When she clumsily enchants him by accident she can’t tell if his feelings are real or because of the enchantment, but boy does she want them to be real.
.
I couldn’t help but feel an affinity for the heroine who at the age of 29 does not feel like she has her shit together. She’s a bit of a klutz, continually feels like she’s a disappointment to her family but still makes it through. This book was a great little journey for her finding herself and a purpose with some crazy mishaps along the way (because isn’t that what life is). The developing relationship between her and the hero was sweet and cute but I was also rooting for the other couples we also got to see along the way!

A romantic comedy with a tad of magic… interesting. Crazy Cupid Love isn’t my normal read although I love romance and who doesn’t love magic, I’ve just never read them in the same book. Amanda Heger is also new to me and is now an author that I look forward to reading more of.

Eliza is a hot mess. Every time she tries to help someone she ends up enchanting someone different and it doesn’t always work out for the best. Jake isn’t worried about Eliza’s mix-up, he just wants to spend time with her. He offers to mentor her as a way to not only help her get her license but to also spend time with her. I enjoyed everything about the two of them. Together they made me laugh and smile, their adventures in getting Eliza mentioned made me shake my head and grin, and I cheered them on from their meeting in the driveway on Eliza’s birthday.

I’d recommend this to someone looking for a light fun read. There is romance, there is magic, and there is family.

Percy Jackson if it were romance was all I could think while reading and now I notice it is also written on the cover. So there went my perfect starting line.

3.5, rounded up for interesting worldbuilding.

This is a world similar to ours, it's not that much of dystopia. Except, much to the distress of all other descendants from the Greek myths, people have found out cupids are real, and now they can sell their services. Eliza is also an Erosian but her powers don't need any arrow hitting the flesh or even blood, she can enchant people with only a bump. Except she's such a klutz, that happens way too often and she's decided to give up trying for a permanent license. That's until her fathers suffers a heart attack and the family business needs her help. To make it even harder, she's in love with her mentor, whom she's also managed to accidentally enchant, not counting how her enchants seem to be failing lately. Will she ever pass the exams?

As I mentioned, this really had a Percy Jackson feel, although the plot itself had nothing to do with it. I loved it! Eliza is also a very fun character, so of course I was rooting for her from the start.

I think the book's biggest flaw was having such a different background, having a great idea for plot twist, but dealing with everything else a little too much like all other romances. Jake is wonderful and I did believe the two were in love. It just didn't make me feel that excited. When you get a romance and the romance itself is the downpoint... The side stories weren't that much either, just cute. Like a TV series in their initial episodes, probably. Again, not exciting enough. But when you think you even get good side stories in most romances, you need to give it to the author.

This was for sure a book well planned, stick to it because there is a bigger story. I just wish it had gone further.

My biggest question is: will it? Are there more books in this universe? I'll sure be reading them.

I picked up a copy of this book due to the premise. It sounded good and I was ready for a light hearted, funny read. Well the light hearted part was correct but the humor was missing.

Eliza is a klutz. I kind of felt bad for her. She had a lot to prove with her family history. Eliza tried her hardest to show she could be a good cupid even if at first she was resistant to the idea. Although, I could understand where she was coming from. Her mother was mean towards Eliza and had no faith in her.

In regards, to the love interest Jake; I thought he was alright. He at least tried to bring some humor to the story. Again, my major disappointment is the fact that I wanted humor and didn't get it. Additionally, the characters were "so, so". The storyline felt like it was lacking in substance. A nice idea that didn't fully execute all the way.

In an alternate world where Cupids are known among the regular humans, Eliza Herman, an Erosian who quit being a Cupid has to become one again to help her family business from going under. Complicating matters is the fact that she accidentally enchants her childhood best friend, crush and current mentor, Jake, which means a sexual-tension filled working relationship at the least, and a new phenomenon where people's enchantments are breaking down. Crazy Cupid Love may be best described as a rom-com-mystery, with a down-on-her-luck protagonist, a sexy love interest and some hilarious clientele.

There are three distinct storylines going on in this book - Eliza applying for a license and taking on clients to substitute for her dad who is recovering from a heart attack, her budding romance with Jake being complicated by the enchantment on him, and the weird phenomenon of enchantments breaking down, amidst an atmosphere of distrust towards Cupids and tight regulation of their work. The world that they live in has Erosians out and about doing their work, with consent, but other Greek Descendants living in hiding, and while they have a society of Descendants that collectively manages their matters, Erosians are sort of in the doghouse for outing themselves. This means strict rules about their work and more importantly, their working and personal relationships. Which is why Jake and Eliza have to try hard to not give into their respective feelings for each other (and also the classic unrequited crush scenario being actually requited), not until the illegal enchantment on him wears off. There are some intermittent chapters in first person from Jake that is pretty much a lot of him hiding his feelings from her, and not knowing what to do about it.

Meanwhile, Eliza has to deal with some interesting clientele, ranging from an old married couple to troubleshooting a sex robotMandroid (god, I loved that scene!) to getting two zoo animals together. Honestly, I would love a sitcom of just the rotating door of wacky client requests that come to her! But the story is about much more: Eliza's arc is mostly to get over her fear of her own amazing powers (she is the strongest Cupid that they know of) and to believe in Love as a real thing (seeing the manufactured one a lot can disillusion you). And later, she is also working to uncover a conspiracy regarding the Descendant society. The last quarter of the book had a LOT going on, and it may have partly been my sleepiness (as I was racing to finish it before bedtime), but it was a lot of 'WTF?' for me.

The romance was cute in the start, with the misunderstanding between them leading to a lot of awkward scenarios, but also Jake trying and failing to restrain his flirting. Also Eliza is thinking he is not at all attracted to her, but he is trying so hard to not show it that he looks like he is sick. Then it built up sexual tension, and well, there are some steamy scenes, too. The later parts sort of fizzled out the romance, as they were involved in the conspiracy thing, plus another thing that caused a rift between them, which is why the epilogue felt a bit rushed when it came to the romance, but overall, it was a satisfactory ending to their story.

On the whole, a fun, charming and entertaining novel.

When Eliza Herman learned that her family Cupid business is in trouble, she had no choice but to help. But her history of mishaps when it comes to her magic worries her. She always enchant the wrong persons, making them in love (and in lust) with her and she did it to Jake too, her childhood friend and crush, and now mentor. But Eliza has a business to save, so she and Jake set rules to keep his arrow-struck desire at bay. But love is maybe stronger than they ever thought and before long they're both rethinking their stance in love.
REVIEW:
I love the concept of this novel. Descendants are on the spotlight and in this book, the Descendants of Eros. Cupids are a thing and they're on business. People go to them to fall in love or bring back the spark between couples. I think it's a great concept but as great as it is, I think the execution of the plot fell flat and unsatisfying in the end. It's NOT really bad but I want more. I want more. This is a series so maybe I'll see more. (Note this is a series but can be read as a standalone)

Still it was an okay read.

I like the idea that our MC, Eliza, is not at all good at being a cupid, that way, I would see her develop not just as a character but as a cupid. But I must admit, at the first quarter of the story, she's TOO clumsy and too lame. I almost dislike her. Entered Jake. Jake makes Eliza's character look better to the reader. It's because Eliza finally has someone she interacts with who really sees her as someone who can do amazing things. Sure she has good relationship with her brother and father, but her mother's usually mean. Not in an evil way but she sees Eliza as someone who can do no good.

I like the little twist of a conflict added in the story so overall this is an OK read, as I said earlier. I still enjoyed it but not as much as I expected, I look forward to reading more from this author and especially the next ones in the series. :)

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. Big thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for granting me a copy.

This is a cute, fun romantic comedy take on the paranormal romance genre. It reminds me a lot of Kristine Grayson's Fates series, only instead of a modern twist on old fairy tales Crazy Cupid Love is about the Descendants of gods and creatures from Greek myth and how they get by in the modern day. It's definitely a refreshing change from the jaded PI/bounty hunter schtick that so many paranormal romances seem to cling to, and is much more light-hearted and upbeat, though at times takes that a little too far and is just *too* out there and hard to relate to or take seriously.

Eliza and her brother, Elijah (BTW - that's AWFUL - who would do that?) are such fun characters, and I'm hoping there are more books in this series so we get to read more about Elijah falling in love. Jake is also a *dreamboat* and I love that there are the occasional little half-chapters inserted throughout the book that give Jake's POV. It really adds an extra dimension to the story to get into his head, and also made me go *SQUEEEEEE!* and have little floaty hearts come out of my head. Possibly a small cartoon bird or two as well.

There's also a LOT to this book, with Eliza and Jake's romance, Eliza's own personal journey and self-growth, and then the bad-guy plot (and hoo boy, the bad guy was actually a surprise to me, even though there was plenty of foreshadowing and you'd think I'd have seen that coming but NO! I did NOT!) All of these elements overlap and intertwine to keep the story moving forward and the action at a pace that's really enjoyable.

One more thing I really love is the way Amanda Heger just super naturally has people of all genders fall in love, and her couples aren't all male/female pairings. There's no big fanfare or noise made, she just quietly has couples of all sorts pairing up, and I appreciate it. More of this in all the books, please. :)

NOTE: I received a complimentary eARC of this book from Sourcebooks Casablanca through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I really thought I was going to like this book. The premise sounded interesting and like nothing I’d read before, and there were some really good sections of the the story but sadly it fell a little short for me. It was ok, but not something I would recommend to friends unfortunately.

**WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD**

It was quirky and fun but it was very strangely paced, to the point were halfway through I almost thought it was over until I looked how far through I was and realise I was only at 53%. This weird pacing and often too-slow sections left me not really interested in sitting down for long reading sessions like I normally do. I usually found myself reading a chapter and then putting my Kindle down to go find something more interesting to do.

It also didn’t help that the characters were just kind of blah. I wasn’t able to really connect with any of them because they all felt very similar, with the exception of Eliza, who was so annoyingly self-centered and mopey that I found myself not liking her by the end. I don’t think that’s what the author intended but there were several times where I found myself wanting to shake her and tell her to stop complaining and think about someone other than herself for once.

Over all this one just wasn’t as good as I was hoping it would be and while there were some parts that were funny and interesting, the majority of it was just ok.
