A nameless land in a timeless past, where great wars have been fought and epic deeds have been done. Magick has returned to the world, but frankly, the world doesn’t know what’s hit it. Neither do the Land’s remaining witches and wizards, who are all a bit ring-rusty, but determined to ensure that they have their say. The only thing that everyone seems to be able to agree on is that there’s going to be trouble . . .
The story itself is very good. But it's marred by attempts to be a bit too pratchety and strangely sexist attempts at bawdy humour. If you can ignore that then you'll probably enjoy this story of misunderstandings and ropey magic users.
A simple goathearder becomes the head bastard and goes forth to wreak his vengance on putts the wazard many poons and near familiar people and places crop up....very good follow up to colin the barbarian
Enjoyable sequel, allegory with shades of C.S.Lewis, bringing together and developing characters introduced in Colin the Barbarian. Countless groan-inducing puns and laugh out loud dialogue, but darker themes coming to the fore.
