SUSPENSE/THRILLER
It’s the year 3303 B.C.E. Sixteen year-old Mira is living a quiet life with her family, eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new brother or sister in her small village in Lower Egypt. But two visitors from the planet Aut are about to change that. The first ship to arrive in the secret of night carries Demen, a tall mystery with skin the color of black coal, and a murderous charm just as dark. A second ship follows in a ball of black smoke hurling across the sky and burrowing into Hamna’s ravine. But no one believes Mira when she tries to describe such an awesome event. That is, until a handsome bounty-hunter named Weir emerges from the wreck and gains her trust. Against her father’s wishes, she becomes Weir’s accomplice in his mission to apprehend Demen before another woman dies by his hands.
But there’s a problem: Demen is now a powerful Pharaoh in the city of Sharkura. Will the ultimate confrontation between them cost Weir and Mira their lives?
Centuries of wars, migrations, and the birth of new civilizations reawakens this adventure in Almay, California, USA—twenty-first century.
Tina Leggs oversees the everyday affairs of the Graham-Arlee museum in Almay California. She has no idea that the mummy exhibit drawing huge crowds, is the same Demen that her ancestor, Mira, bravely faced centuries ago.
Demen is no longer a powerful Pharaoh. Now, he’s nothing more than a museum relic unearthed from the Valley of the Kings. But a rare occurrence will give him life once more. And his desire to kill the misery known as woman is as strong as ever.
Enter Q, a second bounty-hunter sent from Aut to capture him. Like Mira, Tina has been cast into the role of ally to this gorgeous, almost perfect visitor who, with just one hint of a smile, sends her heart racing at triple speed. But first, they must deal with the crisis at hand. Will putting their lives at risk bring a final end to Demen and his murderous need to destroy?
I live in the deep south where the number four has two syllables. I somehow did not acquire that distinct Southern accent, but I am accustomed to expressions of "Yall", "Ain't", and when I'm really in a mood--"Ain't gonna!".

Egypt, 3303 B.C.E. Village life was quiet and simple for all, but for a sixteen-year-old girl, the world she knew has just become a thing of awe, wonder, and danger. High above in the sky, two shiny objects flew across the horizon. One would carry a dark and treacherous evil and once would carry the bounty hunter sent to bring him down.
Young Mira discovers Weir, a bounty hunter from a far planet and together they attempt to stop the murderous Demen. Will they succeed or will history repeat itself in the twenty-first century?
The ancient mummy exhibit is drawing in throngs of people to a local museum. Little did Tina know, the Demen mummy was the same vile alien her ancestor, Mira had once faced as a teen. When a freak accident gives the monster life again, Q, another Aut bounty hunter is sent to end him once and for all. Was it Fate that brought Tina together with Q, a “do-over” from ancient history? Is it possible for Tina to fall in love with an alien she will never see again, if he succeeds where Weir failed? Does Q also feel the same? What if their mission fails and Demen runs free to kill over and over?
Groovy Lee’s A BODY RESURRECTED is a scifi romance that clearly knows no limits as two beings from different worlds discover what true love is as they face an unearthly danger that must not survive.
Far from being too “scientific,” this tale is kind of sweet, not overly detailed and filled with a group of characters that are “down-to-Earth” with a little quirkiness, a lot of bravery and family pride. Definitely entertaining, a quick read with a good plot and a nice flow!
I received this copy from Groovy Lee in exchange for my honest review.

This book is great mix of suspense, mysteries, technological advancements and romance; as Groovy says "clean romance". I loved the plot, enjoyed the repetition of a love story, centuries later. Groovy successfully raised the issue of racism. It was a great experience to read about life in Egypt and Mummies. I don't want to write more about this book because it doesn't make sense to to hamper the curiosity of other readers. Every author has his/her unique style of writing and English is a language with multiple accents in various parts of the world. When I read, I don't bother about grammar, literary part or anything else because at that time neither I am an author nor an editor. I enjoy just like a reader who is not always a professor, there are many who need to read simple, who love thoughts. I loved Groovy's write up.
After interviewing Demen I took a liking to this story so bad I went and asked for it.
And I migth say it was amazing I do hope for a second book to explain a lot of things, I really liked the plot it did have action, adventure, humor. oh and the romance so hot.
the characters were likable at first they were super enyojable really everyone with a knack for adventure, scifi and lost civilizations should rrad it's a great story.
I was given an ebook by the author for an honest review. I really liked that this story had two parts: the past and the present. The author did an amazing job connecting the two times. It was so refreshing to see a story like this because there are more characters to like and dislike and so many elements that can be seen in a book like the rural life in ancient Egypt and the city life in modern day America. The Ancient Egypt part was really fun and exciting to read about while the modern America part was when the climax of the story happens and full of action. At the beginning, it started out slow but quickly the story flowed well and it’s easy for readers to get hooked reading this sci-fi and Egyptian mythology novel. This book gave me so many feels. It made me scared, thrilled, happy and there were some swoon worthy moments and it was filled with suspense especially when the villain, Demen, shows up. Demen is the scary, murdering alien and he was creepy to me and I loved that I hated him. Groovy Lee did an excellent job in creating such an intense and hateable character. This man was pure evil what with him being a murderer. He was strong and sneaky and smart. There were times when I would be on the edge of my seat shouting at his victims to run away. The other characters were likeable enough for me. If I had to pick my favourites though, it would be Demen and Mira. I always love a good villain and Mira was optimistic, adventurous, and fun to read about. I totally recommend this to people who like to read short thrillers with a little sci-fi added.
I've read one book by this author before, and can say that this one I enjoyed even more! The last book was exciting, and fun to read, but this book went even over that. Perhaps that was because of the suspense in the book, or the intriguing story. I was able to relate to the characters, I liked them, and most of all the writing was easy and fun to read. I've always appreciated this author's plot and descriptions. This book was no exception to the fine work I've come to expect and relish.
"This reminded of me some old, archaeologist movies, not least of which because the zombie plays a major role. The main character, Tina, is another great feminine protagonist, and if you take the chance to pick up this book you certainly won't forget her. You won't regret buying a copy!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Mira is a girl who lives in the OLD OLD TIMES. They have no technology, nothing but their farm and themselves. When Weir, a strange traveler comes and tells her that he is from another planet, at first she doesn’t believe him. Then she goes into his ship with her father, and sees all these devices that she never even knew existed, drank a fizzy strawberry drink that she had never tasted before, and she was immediately sold. When Weir says that he is here on a mission to kill an evil man, she immediately wants to be able to help him.
Fast forward a lot of years. Tina lives with her grandmother Bitsy, her cousin Tiffany, her cousin’s boyfriend, and her cousin’s baby. She is always telling her cousin to dump her hacker boyfriend, but she realizes that if she leaves with her boyfriend than her elderly grandmother will lose the baby that she has become so attached to taking care of. While she deals with this, a strange mummy has come to be displayed at the the museum where she works. This mummy is attracting a lot of publicity, including a strange man that comes almost every day just to watch him. One day, the mummy is struck by lightning and escapes the museum, and so now Tina and the strange man must try to capture him.
This book was a sweet read. Although the characters were supposed to be going through high paced action and intense scenes, I could still feel myself feeling calm after every scene where I just got a nice setting with something such as a family dinner. The storyline was creative and I did enjoy getting to hear about Mira before learning about Tina instead of that simply being a flashback or not included at all. It is important to me for a book to have balance, and although it took me a while to truly get into the story, it does not drag for long because of its comfortable length. I would advise this to you as a quick read with a balanced storyline good for any day.
This book has a little of everything, from space travellers, to serial killers, from ancient Egypt to modern USA with a love story thrown in too. Demen is a criminal, a space traveller that has fled his own plant and found earth. The year is 3303 B.C.E. the lives of quite a few Egyptian families will never be the same. Demen is a serial killer and soon leaves a string of victims in his wake. When Weir, a bounty-hunter from Aut arrives a young 16 year-old girl called Mira is more than willing to help him. Weir shares with Mira stories of his own world and shows her technology that is centuries away from the time she lives in. They believe they have solved the problem but years later a force of nature brings Demen back from the dead and another bounty hunter called Q is sent to hunt him down again. The story has jumped to a very modern city in the USA and a new assistant Tina, a distant ancestor of Mira. The more they hunt down this killer and the closer Q and Tina become. I really enjoyed the connections between the past and present day, not only because Mira and Tina were related but because of the Egyptian theme. In the second modern-day story, a lot of the chapters are set round a museum and the Egyptian artefacts there. There was a sweet romance going on too, the sort of once in a life time stuff that you feel if they don't get together now then there wouldn't be anyone again. I also liked the look into the future, with items which did feel plausible. The whole story had a good flow with it, it wasn't a complicated story and not over long. All in all an entertaining story which I feel would be enjoyed by someone in their teens, especially with the age of the female leads.
Groovy Lee’s A Body Resurrected is an adventure both modern and ancient. Set perfectly in Egypt, a wonderful cast of characters and a museum find that there’s more to Egyptian gods than just the stories. This book is fast-paced and exciting, but it’s the characters that make it for me. Lee takes the time to focus on their relationships, finding the perfect balance between fun and believable that makes A Body Resurrected a delight to read!
I love the old classic mummy movies featuring Boris Karloff. And that's what inspired me to write A Body Resurrected. It's a mixture of Suspense and Romance with a bit of Sci-Fi added that takes place in two time periods.
I was hooked from the first few pages! Action and suspense, a little sci-fi/thriller a nice amount of romance, and you've got a great book! Thank you for a great read!
3303 B.C. Egypt. Mira (16) & Shari helped Na-hi (Papa) herd the sheep across into the other pasture. Nah-La (mother) had been looking for the 2 daughters. She was about to have another baby, The spaceship had crashed & the 2 of them met 2 of the space traveling occupants Konn, & Weir (bounty-hunter).
They were from the planet Aut. The 2 of them were after a serial killer prisoner who had escaped from their planet. Demen (jet-black African) had a healing machine. Konn did also. Pharaoh Demen & Queen Itet had mysteriously died. Asa-Weir (son) was alter born. Dirk, Wiley, & Texas museum’s handymen were going to unload artifact crates. Tina Leggs asst. curator, Mira relation, & Rihanna were overseeing the unloading of the mummy of Pharaoh Demen. Missy Brandywine gotten off of work at 12:00 AM & had not been seen since. Ms. Meryl (80+, former model) was giving a TV press conference. A diamond had been stolen.
What happened to Edna Hayes, Ms. Tracy Sievers, & Van Holson? What was Q (bounty-hunter) up to? What happened with Tina, Bitsy, Tiffany, Grace Leggs?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written outer space time travel book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great outer space time travel movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. To be c continued? It was just OK for me so I will rate it at 4/5 stars.

This was a quick read. It is different and entertaining. The story pulled me in and I found myself reading it in one afternoon. The beginning of the story where Mira meets an alien was a little bit strange as she and her family didn't bat an eye lid at being confronted with a space ship and an alien traveller. The characters were supposed to be early Egyptians but they used modern phrases such as 'okay' and 'I guess.' The book also has quite a lot of spelling mistakes, for example the misspelling of lightning and continuous usage of 'lied down' instead of lay or laid down. However, the story line of Weir searching for a serial killer from his home planet was intriguing enough for me to keep reading. I liked how the story set in Ancient Egypt concluded before moving into the present. I enjoyed the 'mummy' serial killer aspect as it was quite spooky and fun. The romance was sweet and resolved quite nicely in the end. I was provided with a review copy.
I really wanted to like this book, and the idea behind it definitely has merit. However, I was distracted and disappointed by the grammatical errors throughout the book and of unbelievable situations that were too easily reconciled by the reactions of the characters.
Sixteen-year-old Mira is an Egyptian peasant who has witnessed two significant wonders in a few short months. After the second sighting of a strange metallic ship her father agrees to follow her in the direction the airship descended. Together they discover a ship of steel with a man who introduces himself as an alien from another planet with the name of Weir. Weir is on a mission to find the female serial killer, Demen, who is now Pharaoh of the land. After Mira kills Demen, Weir gives her a special gift, a camera from the future that contains the picture of Mira and Weir.
Centuries later, Tina Leggs is the assistant curator of the Graham-Arlee museum. As the descendant of Mira she still has the camera containing the picture of Weir and Mira. Today, Tina is getting ready to unveil the mummy of Demen, a pharaoh whose sarcophagus was dug out of the Eqyptian desert. It is only later that she considers that this Demen is the same one that her ancestor killed. The display is a great success and Tina is drawn to a strange man with violet eyes who mysteriously haunts the display of Weir. After the opening, a strange thunder and lightning storm takes place that reanimates Demen who once again begins to kill helpless women.
A Body Resurrected has all the elements to make a fabulous book. I enjoyed the story which is a return of The Mummy with a sci-fi twist.. If you are looking for a way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon this is certainly a great way to do it. The story is intriquing and I enjoyed the interaction of Mira and her family though the writing is a bit stilted in spots. But then, it must be very difficult to translate English into Egyptian in a smooth manner.
I loved Tina. Smart, capable, and in some ways a bit sassy, she tackles her job as assistant curator with dedication. Her attraction to the violet eyed stranger is immediate and I found her relationship with her grandmother (protective) and cousin (antagonistic), who is jealous of her, spot on. I really enjoyed the spontenaiety between her and her friend Rihanna amusing.
The rest of the story takes us on a romantic adventure where she falls for Q, the alien from space, and takes part in the apprehension of Demen, the serial killer from space.
A Body Resurrected is a campy take on The Mummy and outer space sci-fi and it should be seen as such. While I did enjoy the story there are a few editing issues. The speech patterns in the first few chapters with Mira and Weir could use some cleaning and there are some instances of head-hopping which can throw the reader out of the story. Otherwise, this is a fun read for lazy day.
