Endurer versus story of a girl named palak, who has a a affluent background and is leading a normal college life but everything changes on her birthday night when she goes on a rave party and his raped buy a friend how video the latter circulated
The book does not only us shows palak's injustice and sufferings but also throws light to the attitude of the society and practices against its survivers.
It shows that sympathy can also cause distress at times and people's attitude towards alcoholism drugs and getting a very loud life.
Later in the book during her journey of healing she is comes across survivors who are having similar struggles and this has also been represented by the author very beautifully. Now coming to the title the title is very appropriate it is a story about how a person endures how she becomes an edurer
The cover is very simple and mysterious yet to beautiful and in its own way
The story line is very nice and sensitive plot has been chosen by the author it's a beautiful way of representing very sad critical situation.
The writing in simple and effective and brings out the emotions beautifully the characterization has been done wonderfully and the different aspects of the characters comes out as well as the different attitude of the female have been given special importance.overall it was a beautiful book about a painful journey of a strong woman and I guess everybody should give it a read because it does hold against lot of present ages which have been which have kept into the modern society such as small clothes drugs and drinking leads to wave waves and etc etc.

Endurer is the story of a girl Palak living a carefree life, having her fair share of parties and late night outings with her gang of friends, just like any other girl of her age. She wears what she likes and parties when and where she wants to. Little does she know that what price she is going to pay for this carefree way of life.
Her world turns upside down when, on one such outings she is doped heavily and goes through what can be the worst nightmare for a woman. She is raped by one of her friends and the video of this rape is all over the social media. In that video it was made to look like a consented act. However, she has no memory of any such thing happened. Her bruises and the flashes of the night is the only thing she is left with.
The reality was far more scary, heart wrenching and different from the video. How does she come to terms with life? How does she unearth the events of that particular night?
The cover of the book is very engaging but I disagree a little with the title ENDURER - A Rape Story. To me it's the story of resilience.
The book very strongly conveys that the people with sick mindset just need an excuse to rape a woman. Palak and Meethi are two girls come from different backgrounds but meet the same fate because their molester has conveniently figure out some or other reason to abuse them and think that the apctions were instigated by victim and hence it's justified. But at the same time, though the story started with ill effects of doping but towards the end lost the effect.
The characters are strong and effectively portrayed. They leave an impact.
The language is lucid and simple. But book is full of errors and needs a serious editing.
Overall the book carries a strong message.

Thanks to the author for sending a review copy in exchange of an honest review.

The stigma attached with “Rape” is as repulsive as the offence itself. We don’t really know the threshold of our pain as we are trained to “Endure” endless list of things & be an “Endurer”

A group of friends exploring and indulging in substance abuse and the only thing that bound them together is their “upper-class” status. Palak is surprisingly caught in this whirlwind and little did she imagine that this escape into the intoxication of drugs will be the worst nightmare of her life.

Rave Party,Rape, leaked video, blurred memories & the torturous recollection of some appalling memories of that night. The unending anxiety of a normal life and trauma will create a storm that will make her invincible.

This is a classic story which clearly portrays how sometimes we become naive under unnecessary peer pressure or to fit in. A book which anyone and everyone must read. It can jolt you to many realities about Rape victim which exist but we are ignorant about.

(TW for the book- sexual abuse, drugs)

It is said that being born a woman is both a blessing and a curse. Though women are revered and worshipped as beloved goddesses, the living forms of these clay idols have to live with the constant fear of “What if?”

A woman is never free of expectations. When she is shy, she is called a prude; when she is liberated, she is sent on a guilt trip and slut-shamed. She is always shackled by societal expectations, and when she is abused and violated, she is termed a victim and treated as an outcast. However, the blame does not lie with the woman. It lies on the shoulders of those in society who couldn’t treat her better, who couldn’t give her a safe space, who wouldn’t even fight to get her justice.

When I came across this book, I was in two minds. I wanted to read it, but I was also very scared it wouldn’t do justice to the story of a rape survivor. The first few chapters were slow and the book took some time to grow on me but then the story became compulsively readable. I was hooked and I was rooting so hard for the protagonist. I was also glad that the violence was not overtly depicted in the book although the mentions still do act as triggers.

The book follows Palak Kapoor, a young college-goer, dealing with her own share of grief while also trying to navigate adulthood with her group of friends. She is a fun-loving and adventurous girl and sometimes indulges in thrill-seeking activities along with her friends. On one occasion, where she succumbs to peer-pressure and attends a rave with her friend group, she ends up in a devastating situation. Due to the drugs in her system, she has no memory of the previous night’s activities either.

Her friend group mirrors how society acts in rape cases. Some go out of their way to help her, some show concern, some maintain distance and cut off contact. There is a twist in the tale too which built up quite a bit of tension. Now coming to the writing, there were some pros and some cons as well. As a story, it was engaging, suspenseful, and impactful. As I said earlier, this story was compulsively readable. I wasn’t keeping so well at the time I read this but it got me interested in turning the page and that is a big plus to the author. Kudos to him especially since he got a reader to look forward to his book even during a minor slump.

Going a little in-depth, I want to talk about character development. Having lived all my life in a big city, and having studied in New Delhi myself, the cast of characters was not entirely unbelievable to me. I have met with and interacted with people like these and although the story did end up portraying most characters in a shallow and uni-dimensional way, I did see a few of my acquaintances in them. I would have liked well-sketched out profiles and a degree of progressive character development, but I commend the author for being able to put these personalities forward and incorporating them into the story.

One thing that did end up being irksome for me was the fact that a thorough edit job seemed to be lacking. There were typographical and grammatical errors that did end up dampening the reading experience for me. However, it is a personal pet peeve and I don’t think others will find it so bothersome. One thing I loved though, was the way the protagonist fought back. She realized that there were some people truly on her side and she used this knowledge to push herself forward. I loved that she was not only able to stand up for herself, but she also refused to take anything lying down. She didn’t need anyone’s pity, nor did she want their judgment. What she did instead, was empower herself. Palak Kapoor is not a victim. She is a survivor, an Endurer.

This is a debut novel for the author and he did display talent in story-building. I am looking forward to more from him and hope he comes up with more impactful stories like this one.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this short book.
Really insightful and gripping.
The main lesson about reading this book is that we have to stop blaming the rape victims and discriminate them for being a victim.
Such incidents keep happening like in this story where the girl is being drugged and raped.
Such things happen most of the time with known people to the victim (as does happen in this story as well).
The story follows a group of so called friends hanging out together, one of them getting raped and her struggles she goes through being a victim.
I would recommend this book to every youth As well as the so called educators to get a glimpse of how things go wrong at the right places.
A realistic read. Awesome writing style which is easy to follow. The cover rocks👍

The story is about a girl named Palak. She lost her mother at a very young age. Like many rich city girls, she enjoyed freedom, night parties, late-night shopping, dressing in her way without caring what others think about it. Her life turn upside down on her birthday where she got raped by unknown and the video was circulated.🍁

Uday is Palak’s classmate who decided to celebrate her birthday along with friends Ankita, Tanya, Sam, Arav and Jagan. All are having drinking habits except Sam. Sam is a studious girl, and she stayed away from the party that night. On their way to the party, they met with a car accident and got into a fight between Uday and Rohin, other person on car. But later Rohin became a team member of Palak’s gang. In the rave party, drugs, cocaine, alcohol were used for enjoyment. Palak took some Cocaine in the party and forgot everything, and when she woke up, her body was full of marks and in pain. Then she realized that she was brutally raped by her friend the previous night as revenge, and she was heartbroken.🍀

❓What happened during the night?

❓Who raped her? Why the person took revenge on Palak?

❓Will she overcome the trauma?

Grab the book to know more. 🌸

This story is a reflection of the activities of the present world. Drugs, late-night parties has changed our world and youth are addicted to it without thinking about future consequences. The author has beautifully portrayed each of the characters and incidents: Palak after being a rape victim, how she sees the world and how others behave to her. In the story, Palak meets similar victims and how they survived. I recommend everyone to read this book. ❣️

Book is fast-paced.❣️

Name- Endurer: A Rape Story
Written By- Kapil Raj
Published By- Write India Publishers
Pages- 216
Review-
21st century calls for progress. Progress in each and every sphere but what about progress in human mentality.
The number of rape cases in India never gets down. One of the contributing factors are the people who still blames the girl for getting raped.
In this book Endurer, Kapil Raj, narrates the story of Palak. A college student and a fun loving girl, Palak believe in living life to the fullest. Party, drinks, night outs and even drugs becomes a part of her life. One night terribly goes wrong, which turns Palak's life upside down.
Endurer explores Palak's life before and after she gets raped. The ultimate betrayals comes from the people she trusted. From being judged to being blamed, and on top of that a tyrant of a father, the author navigates each and every incident and ties up all loose ends in the end.
It is not about getting justice. Rape victims are still shunned by our so called society who blames the victim more than the perpetrator.
I loved the story as it didn't portray Palak as some Iron Lady from the beginning, instead portrayed her as a normal human being with faults and ultimately as an Endurer in a true sense.

Book format- Paperback
The cover justifies the content of the book.

Book review:
"Endurer" by Kapil Raj is a heartwarming and heart-wrenching story about the life of a rape victim Palak and the way of her survival after the disastrous incident. Palak a fun loving rich girl who lived her life to the fullest goes to a Rave party and blindly puts her faith on Rohin but she finds her life upside down the next morning.

She is harassed because of her inappropriate videos in the whole college and this occurs only due to the human she trusted.

How did she manage to cope up with her life? Did Palak ever come out of the trauma? What really happened at the party? This story completely talks about the life of a rape endurer and her survival. This books intriguingly covers heartbreak, friendship, love and betrayals.

Narration and characterisation- Narration is simple with easy read though it could have been better. Personally, I found that the story was fast paced and in the urge to jump to the other parts at some points. Characters are well developed and go pretty good with the book.

Overall the plot and the efforts of the author are worth appreciating. I definitely recommend this book to everyone out there. This truly needs to be read to envisage the pain and sufferings of a rape endurer.

So first I want to get one thing clear, I was scared to even read this book. Violence is something I try to avoid to the best of my ability. Books for me is an escape from reality, be it deadlines or endless traffic jams. So reading a book that deals with something as traumatic as rape I was scared out of my mind. But then a friend suggested that I give it a try, 'Read it with an open mind and you will be surprised' and she was so right.
This has been one of those books that has been a very emotional as well as educative read. I learnt a lot of lessons.
And an important thing, rape isn't something anyone invites in their life. No one can instigate you into doing that much hurt on another living being. Not clothes, not their lack of inhibitions, hell not even their choices. Lack of consent from the other person's side and someone still acting on it is, was and always will be a sin. Hell even if there was consent in the beginning which was later withdrawn one should respect it. What I am saying is that love is a beautiful thing and so is lust. And as long as it is okay for all the parties involved it stays beautiful.

My views on the book-
"Yes, i was RAPED. But instead of dying, I live it."
I feel a rapist should be hanged but the girl who is raped shouldn't recieve symapthy, she deserves support.
Palak, is a regualar girl who wanted to celebrate her birthday with her friends. She went to a party (to be exact a rave party) and next day she wakes up to find herself in brutal pain and her friends gone.
Yes she was raped. The actual story starts after the rape. How people blame her, how she is sympathised and no one understands her.
She is shattered, Traumatized and broken. I appreciate the author to have written about such a sensitive topic and Emoting the pain and state of mind of the victim properly.
Cover- Apt
Plot- engaging and well written
Narration- made me cry a bit.
recommended to each and every person of this planet.
End note-

The book has a beautiful cover!! I liked the concept of the book, it’s good. But then there are too many errors in the book which can’t be ignored. The book has a strong message. The narration of the story is good, the plot has twists and turns which makes it interesting.

The writing style of the author is simple and so is the language of the story. I wish the author did more justice with the concept of the book! The story discusses an important topic but then the book lacks in leaving the strong impact on readers. The only good thing about this book is the cover and the title.

The characters that the author made are strong and well developed. Each of them had a vital role to lay. Themes like survival, struggle are used by the author. The pace and flow of the story are smooth.

Overall, this book has a strong message but could have been executed well.

Palak represents all such women who had to go through such a heinous crime.
The emotional upheaval through which a person goes when she already has a almost dying mother and a narcistic father on top of that if the physical damages from going through a horrendous experience is not enough society instead of supporting her puts more pressure leading to depression and long term psychological trauma were effectively described by author through this fiction.

The story is in first person of the girl as if she is writing her ordeal amazed me about the talent of the writer having beautiful talent waiving the tales of agony of such a person who faces the hypocritic mindless society and harsh reality.

Endurer.
~
Thank you for the review copy @realistespresso :)
~
Every single day we hear stories of rape and victims who survived it. A henious crime that has ruined countless lives till date. Endurer is a book that addresses issues and the stigma that comes with the term rape. I was eager to read it and managed to finish it in just a day.
~
Palak, an outgoing student has always been the centre of attraction for her looks as well as for her nature. Her friend circle screams money, they party till morning and are no stranger to drugs. Beginning of the book talks about the parties that they attend and their life in college. I felt this part was quite dragged than necessary. Palak is then abused and sexually harassed at a party and wakes up the next day with no memory of the event.
~
A video clip is then circulated in her college which shows the culprit as Rohin from her friend circle. While Rohin pleads that it wasn't him who raped her, an investigation then begins to find out who had a hand behind this horrendous act. Rohin takes Palak to his hometown to protect her from public's scrutiny. Here, she founds solace in his mother's embrace for the time being. Rest of the story focuses on Palak and Rohin trying to figure who targeted her. Things start to unfurl and shocking truth is revealed.
~
This story has been penned thoughtfully, considering the victim's mindset and trauma. The horrors that women are suffering as a consequence of this henious crime breaks my heart. Public's reaction to such incidents, friends support, the humiliation that comes with a crime like that, it has all been written down. Palak's story is not just fiction but happens to real women almost everyday. Though the plot was well executed, I felt that the story could have been made much more crisp.
~
I would rate this book 3.7/5.

By looking at Author bio it seems he is very grounded and travel lane to lane ,ppls lives, survey of their ups and downs to mould in and write the story which comes directly from heart.
💠
But as I started reading I didn't felt the way I was hoping to continue. All started with protagonist living life in hostel and then her friends appreciation on b'day. So dragging part untill he encountered with rave party. If a person knows and resist her/his limit before the dangerous, then at least can save herself/himself.
💠
Characters were almost like group of friends. Everybody is similar when comes to splurge except Sam. Sam was quite sensible and yes later she too affected with the atmosphere of her gang.
💠
Theme were all about drugs, party, traveling, splurging etc which really happening in the story which led to disaster life only for Protagonist.
💠
Conversation between characters were so careless. I didn't enjoyed the conversation at all. I didn't found anything interesting among them.
💠
The issues discussed in this story were totally something peculiar. No meaning to life just living how they wannna live. This is something I don't agree at all. Hostel life is okay but how carless could be the management of hostel who couldn't take care there girls. Issues such smoking, drinking, rave parties who will think this is enjoyment? Sentimental intimation, extra affairs, At least a person should have the prior knowledge of such things befor jumping in such full of dangerous ocean.Altough it just a story.
💠
Language and writing style were not up to the mark. I just carried my self to finish it asap but i fail to do it so. Pace of reading totally so sluggish. I think writing style could have been way better. Editing also need to be something more creative.
💠
If I look for message I can only say that she is Endurer now and living his life like to help needy one keeping herself left out while bringing her other matured side up.
💠
It didn't impacted me at all. Some of the incidents were felt like artificial to me. It was not natural touch.but yes I would say that she was all up to take her stand and live her life without hiding behind the Wall or sucide thought.
💠
I feel not only protagonist life got at stake but his friend Rohin also equally an Endurer unfortunately.
Just because silly ppl mind (Tanya) to get avenge led disaster life of Palak. The coward Uday is just equally non deserving friend happened to see everything undergoing Palak. You must be aware of some basic nature of such friends who you are going to share everything or anything with them unless you are sure.

"If your life does not mean anything to you, give it to the one who needs it."
How beautiful is the book written!! The beauty of a novel is that it helps you sink in different emotions and let you live a different life for the moment. 'Rape' small words, but had destroyed thousands of lifes, shattered millions on dream. Is it really our destiny which drags us to things like this or is it our fate?
I felt the happiness, depression, anger, sadness and every emotion felt by the protagonist .
How a young innocent girl beared a punishment of the crime she never commited.
It is a writer's job to raise concern on such issues and i congratulate this amazing writer who succesfully did his job.
I admire the work of the writer and wish him luck for the success of the book.

"Dawn arrives, night departs, and so does the circle of life."

Heart rendering yet sprinkled with humour, "Endurer" by Kapil Raj is not only "A Rape Story" that torments the heart but also the inspirational tale of a strong girl that captivates the soul.

Life being a thrilling roller coaster ride with friends, hangouts, drugs and unplanned trips, Palak never imagined in her wildest dream that the adventure of a Rave Party would suddenly end by her waking up to the horror of finding herself raped. Struggling with hallucinations to keep her sanity intact, she breaks completely on witnessing horrifying tales of women and girls around her. And what's more, the worst was yet to manifest, as a storm was just cooling its heels.

The author has intentionally built a happy atmosphere so that when the tragedy hits, it hits one hard. Needless to say, he had been quite successful in his mission.

Almost everyone has a back-story that shapes them into what they are today. This aspect of life is efficiently taken care of by bringing into light the cruel past of the characters. Palak coats her sorrow of into her jubilant self; behind Sam's effort of being Palak's support system, she hides her own disaster; Rohin's silence masks the tortures and traumas of his childhood days.

The author has quite an eye for details and hence all the descriptions-- be it of a place, a person or a situation-- had met with supreme perfection.

The steady narration is praiseworthy, with all the situations folding and unfolding at a quick pace, ensuring a smooth flow, rendering the book "unputdownable".

Author Kapil Raj had taken a great pleasure into painting a perfect atmosphere and vivifying nature in an amazingly magnificent way.

Although the story is about one girl, Palak-- her trauma, her struggle, her revenge-- but at the end of the book, her emotions doesn't remain hers anymore; it becomes one with all those reading her tale. Hence, every soul rejoices at her triumph over the evils and celebrates her victory.

"Endurer" being composed on a very serious topic, author Kapil Raj didn't forget to introduce humour, sprinkling it evenly all through the story to lighten the mood a little, slightly reducing the severity of the trauma.

The story has certain inspirational lines that strengthens the soul and passes a stream of peace down the heart. Few lines inscribed in the introduction itself are enough to trigger the interest and make one fall in love with the book, while the entire story still lies yet to be discovered.

The thrill with which the mysteries slowly unfolds, binds the readers till they reach the end of the book, hooking them unto the last line. The spooky atmosphere created to hint at the impending doom, the upcoming catastrophe and the storm that was just cooling its heels are simply spine-chilling.

Each of the lines etched in the acknowledgement are true of every writer who struggles to bring out the best and pen down their story exactly in the way they have imagined it.

The perfect title not only hints at Palak or Rohin being an endurer, but also symbolises many others in the story and in life "who battle everyday to survive".

The attractive cover portrays the image of a girl within the face of another girl, depicting how strength always lies within us, which manifests only at the right time.

All the characters are brilliantly portrayed, not only of the protagonists but also of the villains. The journey of Palak from being a fun-loving jovial girl to an enraged rebel, the subdued nature of Rohin warming up the mystery and the evil nature of Devash, Gaurav and Motu and the poison they spill through their mouth forms the essence of the tale.

All in all, the inspirational journey of "Endurer" by Kapil Raj is a must read novel for one and all, for the book is sure to endow one with the strength to overturn all the taboos of the society and the power to spark a change.

"If your life isn't worth living, give it to the ones who need it."
- Kapil Raj, Endurer: A rape Story

As the title of the book suggests, it is a story of a young and beautiful girl who has been raped and ruined for the rest of her life. I won't talk about the story of the book because I want all of my reader friends to read this book by themselves.
It is captivating, thought-provoking, emotional, touching and powerful story. Cover of the book is beautifully designed. The language is simple but effective. I was really amazed at the fact that a male author has written this book from a girl's point of view. All the characters has been sketched really beautifully. I loved the characters of Sethani and Meethi. Theirs were such characters that leave strong imprints on your heart. Sethani was a strong, composed, loving and caring woman who had seen a lot of miseries, abuse and infidelity in her life. Meethi on the other hand was really fragile, wounded and vulnerable yet she had a positive approach towards life. She wanted to study more and she had only one wish, to see all the people around her happy. Sam's also was a very strong character. She was very smart, intelligent, shy and studious. But she was also really upfront and always spoke her mind.
The one thing that I absolutely loved about this book is that you will find different shades of women in it. Palak, Sam, Tanya, Ankita, Meethi, Palak's mother (Moo) and Sethani all had different perspectives and approaches towards certain things in life.
This is not just a story about a rape victim's journey towards justice. This is a story about how one incident can change someone's life.
This is the story about how women are objectified in our country. This book also raises lots of questions on our Indian society. We live in 21st century and still we don't have very strict punishments for rapists. These rapists still roam freely among us. They are neither guilty nor ashamed of their sinful act. This is the bitter truth.
What hurts the most is that our society blames the victims only. Her dress up, her late night parties, her friend circle. But what happens when a 2 month old baby gets raped? Who's to be blamed then? This is the reason why many of the women or girls don't seek the help of Police because we all know what happens next. A rape victim can never get justice and she can never be avenged because what she has lost can never be given back to her. The trauma she went through, the nightmares she gets every night, nobody can fix that for her. She has to suffer for the rest of her life. She has to endure that pain for the rest of her life because she doesn't have any other option.
At last, I wanna say that it is a must read book. The story is really poignant, evocative and heart-wrenching. I would recommend this book to everyone. Ratings- ⭐⭐⭐⭐.8/5

Rape is a word that is still a taboo. People discuss about rape of unknown women but if it happens to their own, they try to hide it. Entertainment media too try to induce the feeling that the rape victims will be treated bad and hence should keep mum. Author Kapil Raj tells us that they are not victims but they are endurers.

Notwithstanding the similarity to the basic plot of the book #I'm16Icanrape, the book stands out in telling the story of a girl who used to party, wear short dress, had very close relations with boys who are her friends but still has to right to protest and protect herself if touched inappropriately. ,Endurer, is the tale of Palak, the rich dad's daughter who likes to party and have fun. Love, drugs, crushes, night hangouts and unplanned trips were what dominated her life. Her undeveloped fling towards Jahan and concern towards her secret admirer Rohin were not negligible to the readers. After a Rave Party, which was illegal in NCR, Palak who gets stoned, wakes up to see that she was brutally raped but without any memory of who did it. A day later she realises that her porn video was being circulated all over the college. In an attempt to stay away from all the trouble, she goes to a faraway village where she meets Sethani and Meethi, who shows her another life about which she has never heard or imagined about.

A series of subplots that traverse the main plot are equally grave and thought provoking. Child marriage, marital rape, gender discrimination and many more social evils are addressed through the subplots.

Nonetheless, author has failed in putting across the message that doing weed, hash and coke is not a funny game. A serious effort was invested in the same but somehow failed to give the impact. But author on the other hand has strongly put forward the fact that a woman doesn't deserve to be raped just because she wears short clothes or hang out with friends or even have sex with her boyfriend. Nothing gives anyone the right to violate her. The same neutralizes the fact that character development is poor.

Verdict

A strong message bearing book

Book:- Endurer A Rape Story
Author:- Kapil Raj
Pages:- 216

"The feeling of right or wrong is subjective, but many we repent our actions which seemed right in the past and which we could've easily controlled or ceased from happy, if only for good sense."

Blurb:- Palak's college life is on full swing. Friends, a crush, parties, trips, alcohol and drugs. There's nothing in her life right now that can affect her emotionally more than her mother being dead. Until it does. In the morning, after a Rave party, Palak finds herself bruised and in pain. And finally, it sinks in that she was raped and she remember a thing how it happened and who did that. Read the book to know the whole story of Palak's life.

My Review:- The first few chapters of the book are a little slow and contains too much of drugs and parties, even for college students. But, as they were a bunch of rich brats I could believe that. Also, the research on different types of alcohols and drugs and the mixture of both was done very well.

The book gets real after the rave party when realises what just happened to her last night. After the first revelation of name of the rapist, I was heartbroken. I was like, he can't do something so harsh. Still, I didn't understand why would anyone let the victim go with the possible culprit, especially the one suspected to be the rapist.

The emotions in the book are real. The agony of "why me of all the girls?" The constant raging and fearful feeling was written very vividly and beautifully. The harsh and the brutal reality of our society, of being a girl in our society, can make you feel like crying and disgusted at the same time.

The one thing this book has taught me ver clearly is that, people we know, our own friends, even a family member can be the monster who caused us our greatest pain. Being a man, it must have been really difficult to write from the perspective of a girl on such a sensitive topic but the author has done his work very finely. I loved the way Palak's character developed from a naive rich girl to a mature women, just the way it is shown in the cover.
A must read for everyone.

ENDURER A Rape Story by Kapil Raj
“I wished we had all died. Because when we are alive, we lie, hate, get angry, be conceited, be inconsiderate, mock each other, become selfish and above all, hurt people. And we are not ashamed to acknowledge it as part of human existence.”
I was deeply touched by this book. The title gives away most of what the story is about, but until one reads the book, it is impossible to feel what the author is trying to convey. The story revolves around a girl who goes through the most hellish experience – rape. The rest of the story unfolds as one progresses with the chapters. While one may think that the story is about rape-justice-survival, they will be mistaken when they read to realize how it’s beyond that vicious triangle. The story speaks volumes about how one incident can impact someone and the people around them.
The characters in this book are portrayed beautifully. The female characters specially belong to a wide spectrum in terms of their character’s role, nature, orientation towards life and others. I love stories with strong female characters and that’s where this book won me over. I will not reveal much about the plot and each characters role and will leave it to the reader to enjoy it as the story unfurls.
The book is very well written and the language is simple. The impact this book makes in its reader is massive since I felt it was very well researched. The story will leave you in shambles emotionally and you will be forced to think. This book is beyond just another rape story, it is something which leave the reader with so much to ponder about the current scenario in our country with regards to the judiciary system and the safety of women in the society. I don’t want to pen down anything more about the “society” because then it becomes another topic of discussion way beyond the book review.

First of all, I wish to congratulate the author on taking up a very important topic that is plaguing our society today. Having read the whole story, I felt that there were so may topics dealt in this story, drugs, alcohol, rape, too much focus on the outer beauty, the destractions that the younger generation goes through. This was a commendable effort.
The story is about a group of friends from college from supposedly affluent families. This group of friends who indulge in alcohol and drugs and parties. In one such party the protagonist Palak is raped and the video of the event is circulated in college. So what happens next? Whether she succumbs to the incident and the social changes associated or will she actively fight the changes .....read the book to find out.
The cover page is aesthetic.
The story is written in a very simple language and understandable language. The pace was neither fast nor very slow. The story did become a bit unengaging in between but the end sorted it out.
The things I didn't like in the book was that the topics that were addressed were done so in a very superficial manner. The depth was lacking. I desperately wanted to like the story but got confused in between. The transitions between scenes was erratic. In some places I just couldn't understand whether it was the visions or the actual occurrence.
I just couldn't get over the fact that if the girl comes to know of who raped her then how could she even go to a strange place with the same guy if he just says trust me. That is where I feel the background for the trust was not laid down properly. The friendships seemed to superficial and frivolous.

The book is good for youngsters to understand the effects of drugs and alcohol. This could be a good book to sensitize people about the issue of rape.

When we are young we are very likely to behave like a brat , act on our impulse , try new things, enjoy our full freedom without any sense of responsibility, make new friends, go for hangouts and partying and what not .. But if during this most enjoyable teenage period , we face the most inhuman and cruel situation , our life completely takes a u-turn .
Same situation was faced by Palak . Palak was a tender, subtle girl from a rich family who was living her life on fun fed roller coaster. She was enjoying her new college life, making new friends, new love , adventurous hangouts, drugs, crushes and all . She couldn't even imagine that her this new carefree life will soon end up in a horror nightmare. After attending a Rave Party, being high on drugs and waking up in the morning realising that she was raped was enough to give one lifetime mental trauma. In this book "Endurer A Rape Story " the author very well portrayed the pains , hallucinations , mental trauma , physical pain and unending internal war that a rape victim faces .
Its horrifying to even imagine what one goes through, when those devilish memories haunts you day and night . We have countless laws guaranteeing women rights but they are hardly practiced. When a women needs those protections the most our society instead of consoling her lashes, blames and makes her more insecure. Even when one approaches the court she is questioned countless questions on her dignity and her self respect is repeatedly being challenged and she becomes a laughing laughing stock for all .
Apart from the main character Palak this book also highlights stories of some other women's who are respectively an important character in this book . I really like how the book ended. "Yes , I was RAPED . But instead of dying, I live it " (said by Palak).

Content - Palak, a high class girl, studying in a renowed college and living her life to the fullest with her friends Sam, Tanya, Ankita, Arav, Uday, Jahan. Accidentally they met with Rohin and he too became their friend. They had all the fun together and like that, to enjoy and experience everything in life, they went to a rave party hosted by Uday's friend. This party changed and shattered everything in Palak's life when she realised that she was raped in her drug induced state and the video went viral. Rohin was accused as he was seen in the video but he insisted that he too was drugged. Is really Rohin is the rapist or there is more mystery inside?
.
Read the book to know the story.
📖
📖
My Views - Rape, it is such a heinous crime that no amount of reasoning can justify it and if your near ones are involved in it, it became more unbearable for the victim. The author has portrayed every emotional aspects the protagonist has gone through after the incident. Only the victim has to suffer the physical and mental and emotional pain and has to face all the filthy amd dirty eyes and questions of the society as if she was the sole responsible for this crime and her situation. The rapist roams freely as if it was his right to do that kind of crime. The story also portrayed other similar kinds of stories of rape, violence. Palak is the fictional representation of all those women who are victim of such a crime and how not everyone can be as strong as the protagonist is.
.
The author also revealed the hollow system where the victim is more victimized than the accused.
.
The book is really heart-wrenching and emotional and the ending part was really motivating and inspiring. The first few chapters could have been shortened as it was not that much necessary.
.
Overall a very good and inspiring read.

BOOKREVIEW OF ENDURER: A RAPE STORY BY KAPIL RAJ (@ikapilraj)

Rating:- ⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Book Description:- "The beam of sunlight crossed the room along with the dust dancing in. It could do nothing but allow the particles to contaminate the ray and make it impure, just like me."

Life was a fun fed roller coaster: New found love, drugs, cat-fights, patch ups, crushes, night hangouts, and unplanned trips. Like any girl, not in the wildest dream, Palak could imagine that after attending a Rave Party, she will wake up to the horror of finding herself raped.
In traumatic conditions and struggle between sanity and hallucinations, she is compelled by the circumstances to leave her world. Already fighting a war within, her stances take a toll witnessing horrifying tales of women and girls. Little did she know that this catastrophe was not enough for one lifetime, and a storm - was just cooling its heels.
Will she be able to carve her path while facing the rapists, her tyrant father, appearances of her passed away mother? Should Palak let her life to be decided by people, society, and taboos? Would justice return her life or revenge lend her peace?
A heart-rending story of a girl, whose beliefs and honor has been battered, stands up to make choices, rediscovering the meaning of life.

Book review:- With a super interesting plot, Endurer: A Rape Story is a story of Palak which was attending a Party and suddenly when she wakes up, she found herself raped. The novel has a great storyline, plot and it is quite interesting but the thing which irked me the most was, that characters were nit introduced in a good way and you have to figure it out yourself who is who. Talking about the blurb,it was very attractive and it took away my heart and forced me to read it as soon as I was able to. The cover is not so good but the title was. Overall its a good book.

Some stories are hard to evaluate in terms of characters , narration, plot et cetera...when it centres around world most henious crime ,& about a harrowing experience which no woman wants to have .
The novel is an all too real depiçtion of a gang rape and it's aftermath of the horror . It describes the life-long effects physical and mental trauma of the violation of rape , the victim's brave and often futile efforts to over come it's trauma.this rape story provokesfeelings that one should have
when this subject approached.Reading it was really tough ,but author's way of writing which he has used in this book putting you in the character's shoes ,forces you to feel all the trauma in which protagonist has gone through afterwards.it wrenches your heart at times ,making you cringe and cry at times. I could actually smell, feel her post traumatic state felt by palak the protagonist , the victim... Her situations when all those things were about to take place in her everyday's nightmares.
The story is not about palak , but that too many woman.. as Meethi, sethani have same experiences at some points in their life. They inspire and helps palak to know that she is not alone in her survival period.
This is not an easy read but and important one that you'll find difficult to put down. Inspite of choosing a difficult content the author has some how managed to retain true flavour of fiction ,and this helps make the book and the rapists, disloyal freinds bearable.
I must say, Inspite of being a Man, author is really courageous person ,presents such a delicate ,at the same time harsh topic with an ultmost grace.
What I liked the most , that author is clear at the end when he characterize protagonist palak as a strong woman, not only bears experiences but she has courage enough to speak her truth and face it and walk with it to heal.
It's not just a rape story, it's a story about women, and how they are being severely ill treated in the rotten ,sick patriachial society. It is well known worldwide topic, we suddenly, feel emapathetic towards victim because it is discussed in book ... But when it comes to reality, we feel ashamed to discuss over such issues. Fie upon such fraudulent society ! 😠

Everyone should read it to figure out what it is to be a victim irrespective of sex.and also a fruitful read for someone who is looking for help in understanding trauma in their own life. A must read.

❤️"If your life does not mean anything to you, give it to the ones who need it"
.
🍁Book Name -- Endurer
🍁Author Name - Kapil Raj
.
🏵️"Rape" is such a sensitive topic in today's world. Unfortunately not a single day goes by where you don't hear about this in the news. What is appalling is that the society blames only women for their clothes, their friendship , their behaviour for this issue. This kind of thinking is so shameful on us as a society; to add to it some part of our society still believes that men are more superior than women. Here the author has Beautifully written story from women's perspective.
.
🏵️The story is about main protagonist Palak. She was studying in college and enjoying her life the fullest. Going to party, love, drugs, night hangouts , boyfriend and picnic was her life. She has lost her mother and was not in good relationship with her father. One day Palak and her friends planned to attend RAVE party little did she know that the party will change her life forever. Palak got drugged and raped on that night.
.
Will she able to carve her path while facing the rapists, her tyrant father, appearances of her passed away mother? Should palak let her life be decided by people?? Will she able to live normal life??
.
🏵️My Review:
⚫Talking about cover its very simple but designed very thoughtfully. The title Endurer means "suffer" perfectly matches with the story as it represents palak's life.
⚫The plot is very very unique, engaging and interesting. The twists and turns were so unexpected. It was so emotional that it makes you feel the pain of Palak.
⚫Although being a male the author has written this story with women's perspective; i found this quite touching. Palak's behaviour after drugs , being raped, how she has to face humiliation of society, how she was shamed of her own body all the topics are beautifully described.
⚫The description of Rohin's home place Nawalgarh is very nicely written.
⚫The language is very simple and easy to understand.
⚫The characters are well developed and i loved the characters of Sam(palak's bff) and Rohin.
⚫Rohin's confession about his past life was so emotional. That chapter made me cry.
⚫The climax was lovely.

My opinion: First of all, I appreciate the author for writing so beautifully on such a sensitive topic. The book talks about Palak and how she became a rape victim due to harsh consequences. Trying to gain affection form everyone around she ends up in distress. I feel lucky that I got a chance to read this book, I hope this book helps to bring a bit awareness in the society related to the worst sin- rape. Also, am amazed that how can a male be so sensitive to write something, book is highly recommended & everyone should read this.

Pros: All the characters in book are amazing, language is easy, also fluidity of words is maintained till the end. Everyone can easily relate with book because the characters are just like the present Indian youth. Each and every page is amazing with lots of deep feelings and emotions. This is a combination of inspiration, strength, fight back and sensitivity. Cover is so beautiful. I hope I get more such books to read, real soon.

Cons: No cons, some pages felt imaginative.

Endurer: A rape story is an emotional story about the life
of a rape victim, how she managed to live after that incident and how did she
cope up with the trauma of being raped. The protagonist of the story is Palak
who is a rich girl studying in a college and living her life to the fullest
with her friends Sam, Uday, Aarav, Tanya, Ankita, Jahan, and Rohin. Drinking,
smoking and partying till they dropped dead was all they had in mind until that
eventful Rave party where everything changed.

Palak along with her friends goes go this Rave party and
asks Rohin to take care of herself as she believed she could rely on him. Her
world shatters when she wakes up the next day raped and hurt. She couldn’t believe that
her world has come crumbling down and there was nothing she could do about it.
She didn’t realize that time that something even worse was going to happen to
her. Her sex video is circulated in her college and the guy who is molesting her
is none other than the guy whom she entrusted her safety. What is right and
what is wrong? What really happened in that Rave party? Was she really molested
by her own friend or was there something more to the story?

Endurer is a gripping tale of emotions, heartbreak, betrayal, and friendship. I really loved this novel and there are no words which I can
use to praise this book. Though I didn’t like the narration much and suddenly
jumping of one scene to another was confusing sometimes but the plot was really
amazing. This was not a simple novel but a twisted tale of a rape survivor. I was hooked to this novel entirely and dropped
it only after finishing it completely.

Endurer talks about India's fourth most common crime "RAPE", assisted by drugs and alcohol.
Palak , a college going girl, living in hostel enjoyed experimenting with life "BLINDLY" Her friends included some rich brats whose life's motto was to attend rave party, take drugs ,alcohol and enjoy sex. Palak got hold into drugs to vent out her sufferings. She misses her mother.
Endurer means suffering ! Here Palak was Raped in a rave party and she couldn't remember a thing. Dry and wet drugs made her loose conscious completely, her raped video was circulated in her college as well as on porn website. One of her friend Rohin helps her to escape to his hometown to heal from the panic attacks and humiliation from the society.
The second half, how she survived was extremely engaging, as the book talks about, Palak facing other rape survivors who had no connection with drugs or alcohol, yet was been raped. How this entire new change affected Palak will leave you emotional.

The narration is engaging and the author have put so much life with his words that either you will be pissed off at times with the characters' or you will drowned in emotion.
The trauma of a rape survivor have been well put up and a simple explanation how to heal from the horror.
.
When I started reading the book, I had questions in my mind, why choose drugs and alcohol for rape?Well there are other incidents of victims getting raped by family members in the book too. Its about today;s youth getting attracted towards wrong things. This story is not how palak got justice , its how it changed her entire life.
