I loved the art here. Cate and Kate are adorable and relatable. The story was lacking but it's only the first issue so we'll see!

"Did you sign a deal with the Devil? Has your fiancé been dragged to Hell? Then Kate and Cate Harrow should be the first ones you call for timely soul retrieval at a reasonable rate!"
Initially, I was quite hooked with the blurb and that witty title. Unfortunately, this was more of a comedic Jessica Jones rip off with a mix of supernatural prowess and whatnot. While it may appeal to a younger audience, this didn't seem to have the grit and dark humor I expected it to have. Definitely a great concept but just wasn't executed for me in terms of pacing and development. Although the cutesy art style perfectly fits the comedic vibe, I'm not sure I'm a fan of it.

The art was a little too simple and the plot was pretty lame. The ending did provide another avenue with the end of the world but not worth reading anymore.

The story seems like it’s been told before. Two sisters dealing with the supernatural. Nothing about this first issue stood out to me. It wasn’t bad, just very predictable, and provided nothing new.

A little too corny for me. It also relies on just one joke that it uses over and over: One sister is very professional and the other isn't. If you read this, be prepared to see that point hammered into your skill non stop.

A whimsical take on a supernatural universe. Includes some cute ideas that would be out of place in a darker story, but work very well in this one.

Amusing and Fun

The premise here is that sisters Cate and Kate can travel back and forth between our world and the demon world and they use that ability, smarts, and some magic to solve mysteries and kick demon butt. Each issue in the series, (this is the first issue), has a one-shot mystery and some hints and clues about a possibly darker overarching back story. In this issue they have to figure out why a demon kidnapped a groom during his wedding ceremony.

The appeal turns mostly on the snappy patter between the sisters, some clever sight gags, and some almost-slapstick bits in the demon world. The mystery was O.K., even though it took a bit of monologuing at the end to wrap it up. The drawing is old school, with an early "Archie and Veronica" feel. The characters are cartoony, the colors are broad and loud, and there isn't a lot of detail. That said, the characters are fairly expressive and the action is crisp and clear, and that serves the story and the feel of the comic very well.

So, this was fun and had enough amusing bits that I'd be happy to keep checking in on the series.

(Please note that I had a chance to read a free ecopy of this comic without a review requirement, or any influence regarding review content should I choose to post a review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.)

Exorsisters is a fun new series from Image Comics. I say fun, because it’s light hearted and a bit silly. It’s also nothing like what you’d expect when you picture two exorcist sisters. This issue spent most of its time establishing the characters and well…their job. We also got a hint at some of their abilities (though we didn’t get the see the full scale in some instances, which is also explained).
Kate and Cate seem like they could be really interesting characters to follow. The revelation about them at the end of the issue was unexpected. I wonder how that’ll effect the rest of the series? Also, I’ve got to know how that works.

This is definitely the kind of story I enjoy. Lighthearted, very silly, and with a little bit of darkness with some demons thrown in for good measure. While the organization of the story wasn't the best (the movement between the girls and the mom being very jumpy) and the art style wasn't anything spectacular, I could see it really going somewhere in the future. This was a good introduction to the rapport between the girls, their detective setup, and the abilities that they have. A fun read, that I definitely would like to see get more intense and dive deeper into some of the ideas that have been set up.

I like that the sisters are polar opposites of each other. I suspect there is a story there and I can't wait to find out what it is. The case the sisters are called into solve is the case of the the groom taking on his wedding day to hell. But is that really what happened. Read and find out. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I thought this was a fun read!

I was expecting something like Supernatural but with sisters, but this felt more fun. We find out a few things about Cate and Kate and follow their supernatural hijinks into the underworld. I seem to be in the minority of people who enjoyed it, but I thought it was an entertaining read and am interested in more!

I really wanted to like this book enough to add it to my pull, but it just wasn't there. It feels like a TV script that they couldn't sell to a network as the feminist answer to Supernatural so they just adapted it into a comic and didn't change it enough to fit the format. Which is a little sad because this is a really great concept and I love all the banter between the two leads, but the rest of it just wasn't quite there. I might give it another shot in trade someday but for now I just don't have room on my poll for something I'm not in love with.

The concept was hilarious. The follow-through was...okay. The two sisters are so wildly different it's not so much funny as uncomfortable, though the twist at the end of the issue forgives some of that for me. I did appreciate the artist's obvious appreciation for manga and its aesthetic (the interview at the end of the issue confirms this), as that made for some fun little jokes, and the concept is still intriguing enough that I'll probably try the second issue.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have been reading a few more graphic novels and I love the horror genre so this was right up my alley. Kate and Cate Harrow are unique. They were once one girl that was split into two and it took some time before they met up again. Now they can't be rejoined since they are two different. Now the two of them are a team that work together. I enjoyed the drawing and the story.

There are enough hilarious moments in this to overcome the otherwise silly writing and a story that fails to make the reader care about the outcome. The art is colorful, but I find it a bit too streamlined. It looks like something out of a web comic. I hope the series can keep the humor fresh.

This starts off as a introduction to the characters, and a 'monster of the week' type story. I liked it enough, but wish we learned a bit more about Kate & Cate. I think the art style is just ok, not fully my cup of tea.

Fallen Angel's, Kate and Cate Harrow do soul retrieval for a price. Their only fear is the end of the world and their mother. Their muse is a fly named Buzz.
Good story, great graphics.

Funny dialogue, nonsensical plot. The art didn't work for me--too childlike. Apparently the artist has done Archie, Jem & the Holograms and Red Sonja, which, good for her, but the cutesy factor in this demon-hunting story was confusing.

I liked this comic. It was not the most engrossing story but entertaining and reminiscent of hellblazer. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Two cuties visit hell.

Good color artwork. Image freebie. A wedding is interrupted by a demon. Two investigators are called in and visit hell while solving the case.

this was just issue #1, a weak introduction to the characters and story that did little to convince me i should pick up the next issue.

it was eh. too much overt sexualization for my taste. the story was extremely underdeveloped and all over the place. at least the asshole white man got what he deserved. the art does a good job of visually portraying the story and i don't hate the premise, so i think with better overall execution and organization of the story, as well as better direction, this could be really good! not to mention, empowering for non-men and an enjoyable read.

has potential, but disappointed.

Made a special trip to Chicago Comics a couple weekends ago to pick this up because I love Gisele Lagace’s work. Her style is like a combination of Dan DeCarlo and Sailor Moon.

It’s cool to see her working on a series like this as her art is published in color. Everything I own by her is her Pixie Trix stuff which is all published in black & white.

The story is not anything unique and the dialogue is not all that great, but Lagace’s drawing style adds much humor. I read through this issue a few times mainly because of the artwork. For this, I think that is why I’ll be following this title on a monthly basis.
