Jade is a teenager, but at seventeen, she’s never lived the ‘normal life’ of a teen. Her mom is a popular musician and she’s spent all her youth traveling around. She’s seen a lot, but never felt rooted anywhere. She decides to spend the summer before her senior year with her aunt and have a real teenage experience. She gets a job, she makes a friend, she meets a boy….

Jade and Quentin didn’t expect to hit it off the way they did, but they had chemistry straight away. I liked both of the main characters a lot. I thought Jade was great, and Quentin was a stand-up guy. If only it wasn’t so predictable for me personally I think this book could have been a huge win for me.

Almost Impossible is a sweet summer romance.I enjoyed reading this book, though I wished I would have not guessed the secret so early on in the book. It felt like I knew exactly what was going on and just waiting on the other shoe to drop. Also, I wish there were a few more chapters at the end, or an epilogue. For me, it felt like it ended a little too quickly after things were resolved. I love Nicole William’s writing and overall this was a quick, fun, and entertaining read for me!

I’ve been given an ARC of this book and it has no influence on my willing and honest review.

4 stars.

Almost Impossible is the perfect book to read alongside the pool on a summer day. It is easy to read filled with lovable characters and under the light tones some heavy topics as shouldering responsibilities, making the right moral choices even if the road is hard are skillfully broached.

This story revolves around Jade and Quentin, two people meeting in the summer before entering their last year of high school.

Jade is the definition of a level headed and responsible girl.
She's been raised by her single mother who happens to be in a famous girl’s band. Jade may be the daughter but she was the one taking care of the band's schedule. She was mothering the other members.
I loved the opening scene with Jade feeling bad to let her mother fend for herself. What if she lost her phone charger for the Nth time? She had packed her two extras to get her through the summer but you never known… And what if...
I could feel the love and care between these two. It was also time that Jade had some healthy distance with her mother to discover the world by herself and know what she would really want.

The role reversal with her mom telling her to find some trouble was a fresh idea.

Jade asked her mom to spend the summer at her aunt’s house to experience the world as a “normal” teenager but she also has a hidden goal. One she did not tell her mother but is really determined to reach. A secret vital to help Jade know who she really was and what she wanted in life.

Jade’s aunt and uncle are opposite to her mom and she won’t have much freedom living with them. That’s why she applied to a summer job as one more experiment and some time out of the house.
Of course knowing Nicole Williams there is a romance. And the hero will come wearing a life guard attire. Meet Quentin. Head life guard at the pool. Nice abs wide shoulders. Responsible but Jade's key to find some trouble.

Quentin is the boy of your dreams but he hides a secret. A big secret.

Quentin will push Jade to live her life as another underlying theme is “live your life and don't regret”. Do. Don't live vicariously through books. That's quite ironical for us bookworms but true nonetheless.

I loved Quentin as he was just perfect: handsome, sweet, responsible, wearing his heart on his sleeve…everything you should wish in a YA book hero.
The banter between Quentin and Jade was funny with a sarcastic undertone that I so love in my books.

This is a sweet story about living your life as a teenager. About being responsible. About parenting and raising kids alone. About making the right moral choices as difficult as they might be. Taking responsibilities for your mistakes instead or turning your back and walking away when life got hard and you didn’t want to deal. The characters are likeable, good people at their core. The pace is right. The writing is smooth and sass is present giving a nice shake to the story.

If you are looking for one more book to add to your summer list don’t look further you’ve found it.

Thank you Random House Children for your trust.

I enjoyed every page of this book and I just wish it had been a little longer and perhaps a little deeper at times. Nicole Williams has always had solid YA roots and this contemporary tale with an unusual approach to a trope was pretty fantastic.

Jade had a background that I really enjoyed reading about. Her entrance to California for some much-needed roots in her life was refreshing, her home with her aunt, uncle and cousins left me wanting more details especially the aunt/uncle relationship. However, the focus of this story was Jade and the boy across the road, Quentin. They met in a rather fractious manner, with dirty looks and a little seething.

“I wasn’t sure I felt that was his way of making peace or declaring war, but I knew that either way, this boy would be a battle every step of the way.”

These two together were delightful reading, their connection, dialogue and real life playing out was easy to sink into. Quentin was happy to be the one to show Jade what teenage life should really be...fun, a beach party, sneaking out here or there and being care-free. In actual fact, Quentin was not at all what he seemed.

I got a sense of where the story was going late on and I’m really impressed with where Nicole Williams took the story, blowing preconceptions out of the water.

I know there is one more to come of these YA contemporaries and I can only say that I am looking forward to it after book two.

I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

Genre: Young Adult Romance
Actual Rating: 3.5 stars

Almost Impossible is a great book for teens and young adults. Normally, I try and stay away from YA romances because they seem... Immature? But I was drawn to this one based on the cover and description. All in all, I think Nicole did a great job with this story. She made her characters believable and even added real world problems that affect (or CAN affect) any teen. I won't say what because it would spoil the story, but it's interesting to say the least. Now, one of the things I didn't care for was the fact that I kept asking myself "what is the point of this book". At some points it felt like it was going nowhere aside from two kids getting to know one another. Towards the end however, things picked up and secrets that were silently kept throughout the story were revealed. For some, this "secret" sort of comes out of nowhere. But I can see how it makes sense for the characters age.

Anyway, with all that aside, I think this is a good coming of age, young adult romance. There isn't any sex or foul language so I think readers 14+ would be good candidates for the story. In fact, I think it will sell well for this age group. It's an appealing story and a sweet, quick read. Fans of the author, if you enjoy teen/young adult books then you may like this as well. But be warned, it truly IS targeted for the younger age group so some things will come off as a bit immature to you.

Need a great summer romance? Pick this one up please! This was a wonderful, refreshing YA with mature characters experiencing that sweet high school romance.

Jade and Quentin's interaction from the start had me captivated. Their banter was smart, witty and fun! Jade's mom is in a popular rock band and she has spent her entire life travelling around the world on tours with the band. She decides to stay with her aunt for the summer in 'suburbia' to experience the life of a normal teenager. Our couple incidentally end up working at the same place for their summer jobs and we get to experience the cute and awkward first stages of teenage love. This is one of my favorite parts of YA books!

As they get to know each other, it's clear that Quentin has a secret and I figured it out way before Jade finds out but it doesn't take away from the story. Just know that both these characters have serious issues they are are dealing with personally and it just adds a layer of complexity to the plot that I thoroughly enjoyed.

We get some interesting family dynamics as Jade's mom is kind of a free spirit and Jade grew up with very few rules. Her aunt is the complete opposite and is quite strict. This leads to some tense situations that Jade has to learn to navigate like a regular teenager. The bond she had with her mom was very heartwarming and I loved their support of each other.

This is the perfect summer YA romance with a cute guy, an appealing plot and quick-witted banter.

Review can also be found on my blog.

A few words to describe this book: cute, innocent, quiet, small

In other words, the perfect summer beach read. It sorta read like a Nicholas Sparks Jr. book. lol Sparks for Teens. Somebody trademark that, quick. You know how in all of Sparks' books, it's pretty quiet and then there's that one twist that you don't see coming? Same story here. I did not see that twist coming at all.

I think that the cover of this book is absolutely perfect for the story. It looks just like how I pictured Jade in my mind. Also, super cute. However, I don't think the title makes much sense with the story. Nothing that happened in here was anywhere near "almost impossible." It was pretty much your average YA contemporary.

The immature banter between the two love interests was a bit irritating at times. Also, it was kind of random that BOTH of the girl's parents were rock stars in separate bands. Now that's almost impossible. lol

One more beef I had with the story was the contradictions. On the one hand, Jade was supposedly a wild hippie child who stayed out late at night and made friends everywhere she went. Yet, the mom says that she reads too much and doesn't have a life at all and makes her do more outside of her comfort zone. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You can't be a friendly and independent girl but also a loser shut in all at once. I don't think that was super well thought out.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an arc.

Let me start off by first saying that in my personal opinion, a 3 star book is a good book and one that I would recommend to people. I find that people cringe when they see 3 star and think the book isn't that great. It's not that, it's more along the lines of the book was a good read, but not one that will stick with me forever.

Almost Impossible is a sweet and easy read for just about anyone. There isn't any over the top drama and nothing too hot and heavy for a YA read.

Jade was my favorite part of this book. She has grown up in a world most of us would find fascinating and amazing. She is bit more mature than most at her age, but at the same time, she is slightly naïve on certain things because of her upbringing. You'd think she'd be more of a rebellious kid or something along those lines, but she appreciates everything she's been given and has a great head on her shoulders.

Quentin was an interesting character to me. He's got younger siblings at home that he helps take care of and also works full time during the summer. From everything we learn about him, he seems like a pretty decent kid who keeps to himself and doesn't get into too much trouble.

I enjoyed the buildup between Jade and Quentin - it was the typical summer romance between two teens - nothing is too fast and flows well between them. They take jabs at one another and even try to move things in a certain direction, even while life tries to stop it.

While I did enjoy reading this one, it's a not a story that left me reeling, and that is ok. Not all books need to leave with me that feeling way. This was a very light and sweet story overall. However, based on the blurb I was expecting more of bad boy with Quentin than we got and I was expecting a more dramatic story line where the ex-girlfriend came into play.

Even though I had expected more, with this being a YA read, it is a fine line for an author to give a story that edge of naughty teenage boy and a secret about his past and still make it relatable to the YA reader. With that being said, I personally feel that Nicole did her best in portraying Jade, Quentin and his ex-girlfriend without making it too heavy of a story for characters that were heading into their senior year of high school.

Overall, Almost Impossible is definitely a story I would think any teenager would enjoy along with fellow YA lovers who are looking for a non-angsty and dramatic story. This one hit right down the middle for me, which in my opinion, makes is a good read.

I picked up this book because it looked and sounded adorable. I’m not a huge fan of realistic YA books, but I do read them from time to time and I enjoy the innocence of the read.

The book starts out very cute. Jade is a hippie loving child and her mom is going on tour. Jade has traveled all over the world and she wants to spend one summer in the same home, enjoying the normal teenage dream.

I liked Jade. I found her cute, quirky and I liked that the book is in her POV. She’s very smart and driven for someone very young. At times you think she’s a twenty-something old.

Quentin is the boy next door. He’s very loyal and responsible. Sorry, he’s no bad boy! I liked Quentin, he just seemed like a sweet boy and the interactions between Jade and Quentin were cute. I also liked how much Quentin liked Jade and he pursued her.

Here’s where it gets tricky for me. I’m not the type of person that likes a secret throughout the book. To me, I like everything out in the open and just let where the story takes you. So there’s a secret in the book and it’s kind of the ticking time-bomb for the second half of the story.

I probably would have enjoyed this book better had I not figured out what the secret was within the first 20% of the book. It was kind of easy to figure out, but I’m not the target audience for this right? This book is for teenagers.

Due to the content of the book, I wouldn’t be comfortable with my child reading it if they were under the age of 16. I feel like if you are under 15, please read books about witches and wizards. I wouldn’t say there is a moral of the story of the book, but I felt like the message that was sent to the readers wasn’t the message I would want for my child. I get the book is realistic and I get I can’t hide my children from everything, but I don’t want them to think it’s okay. It will make sense if you read the book.

So, this book isn’t for me. Nor is it for teenagers in my opinion, but that is just me. I think if you are a Nicole Williams fan, you like YA books and you aren’t a teenager, then you will probably enjoy this read. It’s cute and the length is perfect.

Almost Impossible was a great summer romance novel! This was the perfect book to pick up when I was craving a contemporary with romance, banter, feels, and some drama sprinkled in!

The main character, Jade, was a very likable character. She was a very practical and level-headed girl. I related to her SO HARD when she just wanted to stay inside an read books! She was someone that didn't really take risks if she had any thought of it not working. I liked that she was always someone who tried to think things through before doing them. However, it was nice to see her let loose a little bit in this book and learn that it is okay to lose control sometimes! Quentin was the main male character and he was a dream-boat. He always said what was on his mind and wasn't afraid to do daring things, especially for the people he cared about. He was a charming and kind guy. I couldn't help but fall in love with him!

The romance in this book was super adorable and full of swoons. The author did a great job at creating characters that some wouldn't think would work, but it turned out that they were perfect together. The emotional and physical chemistry between Jade and Quentin was incredible!

The main reason this book didn't get a higher review was that I didn't like the predictability. I was hoping for more surprises when secrets were revealed, but I was able to predict all of them. I still enjoyed the book A LOT, but it was something that took a bit of enjoyment away.

Overall, this book was a fun, entertaining, and adorable book. If you are looking for a quick and romantic contemporary novel to pick up, I definitely recommend this one!

I consider myself a lover of YA books, but I've found this category so hit or miss for me lately, that I was beginning to wonder if I'd actually finally aged out of them. With Almost Impossible it became clear to me that I just haven't been lucky enough to pick up the right ones lately. Because this book? It was almost everything I love about YA.

I was completely charmed by the smart writing and the sharp, snappy banter between Quentin and Jade. I became frustrated sometimes, particularly with Jade who sometimes behaved like the self centered, immature seventeen year old she actually is (so, while frustrating to me, totally appropriate for her character). I loved their easy relationship though, and the sweetness of it all. There is nothing like reading about first love, and I'd like to think it won't ever get old.

I completely, 100%, no-holds-barred adored Quentin. And I loved the (not-so-surprising) twist to their story. Important issues are touched on here, but not in a way that felt preachy. However, from a YA reader standpoint, I might have liked a little more depth into the background of those issues, a little more explanation, and a little less dancing around them.

I might have also liked a bit more from the ending, which felt a little abrupt. That said, I am overall happy with the story, which was super easy to read and completely satisfied my sappy little innocent romance lovers heart. I would definitely not hesitate to read more from this author! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars
