Ellie’s quiet writers retreat turns into an all-out-war for her affection between the Clark cousins, four ridiculously good lucking Maine mountain men.
It’s off-season in Clarkstown, and the desolate village is all but closed, which suits Ellie’s needs wonderfully - getting lost in the wilderness seemed like just the escape she needed. Except between the cousins’ amorous advances and the curious incidences around the lodge, things are anything but peaceful.
Zain, Cole, Drew and Marcus can’t help but notice all the strange occurrences have coincided with Ellie’s arrival. What kind of secret is their new guest hiding?
Ellie knows she should come clean, but she thought her days of running were over. Instead of finding a new life, her past winds up catching up with her, and puts all of their lives in danger. Will their passion survive the secrets they’ve kept from each other?
Mated to the Clan is a fast-burn, stand-alone, suspenseful reverse harem shifter romance meant to be enjoyed as quick escape.
Content Warning: Love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets. Intended for mature audiences. No cheating and no cliffhangers.
Jade Alters is the author of paranormal romance novels featuring alpha males and feisty women who want a man more than they need him. She distinctly remembers stumbling upon her sister’s romance novel, Daphne du Maurier’s classic Rebecca, at a young age. Boy was she in for a surprise!
Today, after many career twists and turns, Jade spends her days writing - as long as the coffee doesn’t run out, exploring foodie destinations and making questionable decisions. She makes sure her worlds, both real and imaginary, contain a healthy dose of magic.
This is an action-packed, exciting book that is lots of fun to read. Ellison “Ellie” Harper has been in a witness protection situation. With the death of her mother, she feels safe now and moves to what she hopes is a quiet place, Clarkstown. Little does she know that this choice will change her life! As the bus driver retrieved her suitcase for her and drove off, insulted that she only had a dollar to tip him, Cole Clark, manager of the Clarkstown Lodge, walked up with a smile and welcomed her. He told her to buy what she needed at the General Store since he only came into town once a week. She timidly asked if they took debit cards, and he laughed. The Sheriff wandered out and gave him a hard time for harassing her – she was impressed at how tough the law was – until they laughed and he was introduced as Cole’s cousin Zain. They explained Zain, Marcus, and Drew – all cousins – lived at the main lodge with Cole.
Marcus, the Clan’s Beta, takes Ellie for a walk by their lake. He is so drawn to her that he kisses her and she responds until she startles at a snapping sound. Marcus sniffs the air and smells an unfamiliar human scent and walks her back to the cabin for her safety. Drew is tasked with watching the cabin, but he is equally drawn to Ellie. Each of them is responding to her as if she could be their mate! Are they able to protect her from what is coming after her? Is she willing to accept the four shifters as her mates?
I absolutely loved the teasing that the Clarks did with Ellie, putting her at ease and welcoming her to Maine. When Cousin Drew, the family jokester, asked Zain why the turtle crossed the road, he casually responded that he should check with Marcus who was the game warden! The relationship among them all was so relaxing and fun! I wish the relationship with each was developed a bit more thoroughly. And some editing is needed – aside from verb tense and words, at least once the wrong character was mentioned. But I still enjoyed the story and would recommend the book as a good read.
Macy is a marine biologist studying debris that washes up on shore after fierce storms. She finds a 3 foot long sea horse and calls her liaison in Greece with her find. He says to stay there and tell no one, that he is sending his own team to investigate. A little while later four tall, gorgeous men arrive. They try and tell her it’s nothing new, but that they don’t want anyone to know because it would destroy their fragile habitat in the deep sea. They take her back to their headquarters and apartments and try to convince her to drop it. While she was waiting for them to arrive, she also discovers other beautiful artifacts that look like they came from ancient civilizations. They try and cook up a cover story but she isn’t buying it. The three men (David, Reuben, Kazan and Kauris) are really dragons that are the protectors of humankind and the underwater sentients. They have been trying to find out why the undersea world is in ciaos. Poseidon has disappeared and so has his gold trident. Everyone in Oceana is trying to gain power. The men take Macy out on their boat for a day of diving, hoping to distract her. While they are underwater, Macy is grabbed by a Ceti. David and Kazan must shift into their dragons to save her. Of course she see’s everything, and they must tell her the truth and hope she doesn’t freak out. She embraces their cause and joins them on their journey to find The Trident to bring peace to the sea again. During their time together they all fall in love and want to become a family. They go on a long, treacherous journey seeking the Trident. This is an amazing journey through the underwater fantasy world. A great read!!

I totally lost myself in this book. The story line felt really with very likeable characters. This book made me wish I could go to Clark’s town and meet this people yes every Ellie as my heart went out to her character. Ellie is heading to a postcard pretty Appalachian mountain to stay at Clarkstown, in a log cabin for piece and quiet to work on her books. Her life had been crazy so far when she was young her mum and a man who looked like a police Man grabbed her from her sleep and chucked her into a van to escape her father. Then they moved countless times. It wasn’t till she was a little older that she found out her mother turned snitch on her father and they were in witsec. A few months ago Her mother died so she believes the treat is over. Ellie had no memory’s of her fathers wrong doings. When she arrives in Clarkstown she is met by the delicious Cole Clark 6”1 solid muscle and green eyes wow butterflies fluttered Ellie’s stomach. Then she meets the Sheriff Zain Clark cousin of Cole. Another fine specimen. She learnt there were 4 couisins that owned the lodge. Cole was the chef and took care of the lodge. Ellie then meets Drew who is the sheriffs deputy and Marcus was a games warden. She felt lost in each of these men. Ellie didn’t understand the pull they had on her. The men also had a secret. There were shifters. Bear shifters and each ones bear was scream at them that Ellie was their mate. Would they fight for her like wild bears did fight to the death for a mate? Was Ellie safe now? I received an ARC and now I’m leaving my honest review.
i read this book as part of an arc program. In this book, Ellie is a writer who goes to the Clark Lodge for privacy to ghost write two books. When Ellie arrives in town, she meets Cole, who runs the lodge, and Zain, the sheriff and Cole's cousin. Both men are handsome and make Ellie feel welcome into their lodge. Their other cousins Marcus and Drew also make Ellie feel welcome and soon the four are trying to get Ellie's attention. The four cousins are close as brothers and all live together at the lodge, and are bear shifters. When Zain learns there is a trespasser on their land, he investigates and sees a known biker and criminal. Zain tries to arrest him, but he got away, leaving the men to protect Ellie in case of danger. When Ellie learns of the biker, she knows he is her father, who she was hiding from her whole life in witness protection. The men now know he was after Ellie and vow to keep her safe. The men also have to deal with the fact all of their bears think of Ellie as their mate, leading to them to challenge each other. I liked this story and thought each man had great qualities. This book made me laugh and i loved the idea of Ellie trying to keep the men in line. They fought like brothers and loved each other very much. I love how the men could tease each other and try to protect each other too. Good one.
This us the first time I've read a Jade Alters book,,,,, and I really liked it,,,,
This book was a good read, I didn't know what to expect, being a new author to me,,,, but I was happy I read it,,,, and now I have another author in my rotation,,,, which is always a plus,,,
This story is about Ellison, "Ellie" Harper and the death of her mom kinda changes her life, she's trying to hide from her father who is the leader of an outlaw biker gang,,,, the FBI steps in and puts her in WP and she is whisked away to Maine where she will be a ghostwriter,,,, she is greeted by Cole Clark, the manager of the Clarkstown Lodge and then she is introduced to the sheriff, Zain, cousin to Cole and goes on to meet Marcus, the game warden, and beta of the clan, and finally Drew,, who is basically a watcher and the jokester of the clan, all cousins, all bear shifters looking for their mate,,,,,
As I've mentioned, this is the first I've read this author, and I actually thought the book was good,,,, I would recommend this book to anyone,,,,, !!!

I really enjoyed reading this interesting, entertaining bear shifter reverse harem romance. This book is about: a young woman (Ellie Harper aka Walters aka Waters) on the run from her past, she moves to a small town and meets four male cousins (Zain, Cole, Drew & Marcus). They just happen to be werebears and want to claim her as their mate but there are trails & tribulations on the way before they get their HEA. There is: A feisty young woman (Ellie), a dangerous father (Xavier Lane), a outlaw biker gang, werebears, FBI, witness protection, twists & turns, suspense, intrigue, danger, enemies, jealousy, physical conflict, memories, apologies, realization, life mates, intruders, guests, suspicions, weekend bikers, shifting, shock, disbelief, guns blazing, threats, attempted murder, abduction, rescued, letters, happiness, love and a few steamy scenes. The characters are well-developed and fairly realistic with their emotions. The story-line and plot is intriguing, well-thought out and written.
Ellison Harper has led an exciting but confusing life on the run with her mother, it’s not until her mother’s death that she learns she has been in witness protection as her mother gave evidence about her father who Ellie does not remember. She decides to stay in a cabin in a remote village to write her book and get some peace and quiet, however once she meets Zain, Marcus, Drew and Cole she finds them rather distracting. The four sexy bear shifters scent her as their ‘one true mate’, and will stop at nothing to convince her she belongs with them. Luckily the bear clan is around to help keep Ellie safe once her estranged and dangerous father shows up. Jade always has realistic and likable characters, which include strong woman and sexy shifters and has unique human/shifter plotlines in her stories. Mated to the clan has a happy ending and no cliff-hanger. It kept me entertained from page one until the last page. I definitely recommend it if you enjoy paranormal reverse harem romances featuring shifters and humans.
I read a lot of “love at first sight” novels, especially in the shifter genre, but this was ridiculous even by those standards. The main difference between this and other of love at first sight novels is that they won’t have the character act on those feelings immediately. They’ll mention it a hundred times – to themselves – and the book might bring up fated or bonded mates or something, but the target of those feelings won’t know. This book skipped straight to “I saw you and kissed you and have to have you” within the day. It was way too fast. As a “normal” person, I would have ran for the hills if you started acting like you loved me and couldn’t live without me that quickly.
Also, sentence phrasing was very awkward. It made it very difficult to stay in the story. And the more and more I read, the more and more I didn’t like it. You could definitely tell the author tried to fit a 300-page book into 130 pages. It just didn’t work, and like I said earlier, everything was just way too fast.
I loved Ellie's Zane Marcus Drew and Cole story There is one girl for every bear clan Ellie is moving again she saw the superCole when she got there he's hot and he has three sexy roommates which are all cousins the problem is that the sexy men have secrets they are bare shifters and she is there mate and in danger Ellie and her mother have moved around a lot because of dangerous past at least Ellie's mom had passed away two months ago and Ellie decided to start a new life she moved into Clerks town that's where she needs Zane Marcus Drew and Cole and of course the guys fall in love with her and they fight over her Cole helps run the lodge Co owned by Zach the lodge with the other two cousins that live there at the lodge malcus and Drew this is a very interesting story very sexy tantalizing in action pack to definitely don't want to miss out

Ellie is on her way to the backwoods to do her job--ghostwriter for writers. When she arrives she is met by Cole Clark. Then she meets the sheriff, another Clark. When all is done and said she meets four all together Clarks. On her first day, Zain gets info about an FBI wanted. He doesn;t think much of it since most wanted stay out of his neck of the woods as being too out there. Then that evening as Ellie is out with one of the boys, they hear a noise and Marcus takes he back to her lodging and he goes to tell the others. From this point on things start to happen from discovering the most wanted on the FBI list to thinking things were quiet till Ellie showed up. Life really does get complicated. Cute and interesting story about a clan of bears who fight like brothers but can love just as well. Fantastic story and read.

This book had the bones of a good story. It even started decent with some great visualisation and interactions, but quickly I started catching grammatical error. Wrong names, wrong words, wrong sentences. It was pretty annoying. I'm not a grammar Natzi either, but this one was extensive. Then the story itself became really juvenile. These shifters all acted like teen boys with fist fights over a girls attention and constant bickering while she kissing and going further with each of them behind each other's back. There was one sex scenes and it was barely one. It was more like a YA scene and not something you would expect from a reverse harem. All the bad guys and incompetent FBI running around Willy nilly was more distracting than interesting. I think the book needs a ghost writer to flesh it out and give it more depth, then an editor to fix all the grammar issues. Then it might be worth reading.
I liked this story overall, and it may be a better story for some others. I liked the development of the guys and their sib/cousin banter. I liked the suspense and mystery of Ellie's past, and what was going on with her father. But for a reverse harem romance novel I felt like I was missing so much of the relationship between the characters. There were 3 scenes with her kissing 3 of the 4 guys, and then the author completely glossed over the one scene with all 4 after they realized she was their one mate. It was VERY tame. I kept reading hoping something hot and exciting and sexy would happen with her and her clan... and nothing happened. Also this book could benefit from another round of editing, lots of grammatical mistakes. Luckily it was a quick read, but it could have had so much more going for it. This is my second book that i read from this author, and I really referred the first one I read.
I really like shifter romances and I really like menages - even though today we are calling them reverse harems. Ellie - lucky girl - meets four handsome and sexy bear shifters when she rents a cabin at their lodge off season. Ellie is a writer and needs time and seclusion to work. She also needs secrecy and privacy to stay hidden from her outlaw father, the men who want him and all the others trying to find her to receive a reward he posted. What I liked about the story - each chapter is told from one of the MC's point-of-view. So we can see Ellie's confusion over falling for four different men and each of their thought processes as they individually recognize her as their mate -and that they will have to share so that they can protect Ellie, their land and their secret. Throw in some sexy times and some scary times and you have a great book.
There were a few things I loved about this one, and a few things I wish had been different. I loved the suspense level and the fact that it didn't diminish until the end. I loved Ellie and the glimpses into the live of a ghostwriter. I loved the relationship between the guys and their blend of love for each other and desire to one-up each other almost constantly because it added a bit of humor to the romance. I wish the story had been longer because the romance doesn't really heat up until the end and I would have enjoyed more sexy times. The length also made the story feel a little rushed towards the end, but that could have been because I wasn't ready to leave the sexiness. All in all, I would recommend this one. I thought the characters and plot were amazing and I'm looking forward to reading more of Jade Alters' work.

***spoilers*** Young woman hiding most of her life from her criminal father, ends up at the home of four bear shifters.
Ellie Harper is a freelance writer, recently released from the Witsec program after her mom dies. She has been in hiding since she was a child. Unbeknownst to her, her father has been tracking her.
The four bear shifters, cousins, all believe Ellie is their mate. They protect her and even save her after her father kidnaps her. Ellie's dad is convicted, sent to prison and Ellie is now free to live her life. She chooses to remain with her four bear shifters.
This book is a quick read. As far as reverse harem books go, it's pretty tame. To give it a movie rating, I'd say a hard PG-13 easy R.
A human known as Ellie Walters arrives at the lodge to hideout from her father. She recently left WITSEC after her Mom's death She earns her money ghostwriting for other authors and she needs a place of quiet and solitude to complete two projects so she can move on. She has been constantly running.
The lodge is owned by four very attractive bear shifters. After meeting and getting Ellie's scent they each have decided she is their mate. What are they to do, will they fight or allow her to choose.
This is the first time that I have read Ms. Alters. I really enjoyed thee story but would have liked more details about all the individuals before they are plunged together and lust and fate take over. But I will come back for more of her stories.

I like that Ellie is a writer. She may be a ghost writer, but a writer all the same. Her own life should give her plenty to write about. In the beginning, we have no clue why her mother kept running and moving her. I liked how gutsy she is. Her conversation with the jerk on the bus in the beginning was really cute. I'll have to remember that line. With the Clark men, Cole irritated me from the beginning. I could tell he was the youngest because he wouldn't listen to his older cousins or Ellie when she said leave her alone. I think Zain was my favorite, with Marcus a close second. By the end all of the guys had grown on me. There is plenty of intrigue and action, but not much romantic action. Still a really good read. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Jade Alters did a great job producing a light and fluffy read that you can speed through with abandon. I enjoy shifter books and a really want to love the reverse harem niche, but this one didn't have any of the emotional investment and character growth I was looking for. There are so many opportunities for conflict, and also hot sex tbh, but this book stays on a superficial level and is almost a clean romance. It wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but it may be right up your alley! The blurb description does not match the storyline.
I received an ARC for an honest review and, as such, I'm not commenting on the technical editing issues with the book in the hopes that they are all caught before final release.
Ellison has been in Witness protective since being a kid, she moved to the wilderness to write 2 books. Instead she has 4 werebears that are her true mate and is being stalked by the FBI and her father of the Satin Sins MC club. Ellison gets taken away from the father and now her mates are trying to track her down. once located they capture all the men and the police take them into custody, all her father wanted was her necklace that would give him the money he stole and her mother hidden away. With the necklace back into her possession and the key inside of it she goes to the bank and sees in the lock box how much a check is for in her name.

Mated to the Clan is a nice reverse harem paranormal romantic suspense book. Combining all of that into one book, Jade Alters provides the reader with plenty of action on all fronts. Ellie, a ghostwriter, hopes to get some quiet time to write and books a stay at the Clarkstown Lodge. While there she meets Zain, Drew, Marcus and Cole Clark; cousins with a tragic past and almost as many secrets as Ellie. There are plenty of surprises, twists and turns to keep the reader engaged.
I received a free copy of the novel from the author via Booksprout. I had the opportunity to review or not.
This book is more than just a shifter romance... it has some suspense to it too. Ellie has come to the Clark cousin's, Zain, Marcus, Drew, and Cole, lodge to finish writing a couple of books. But things are a bit more than what they seem with both Ellie and the cousins. As skittish as she is, she can't deny the attraction she feels for all of the guys and they are equally attracted to her. 💕❤️️💕
This is a fairly quick read but it has lot's of heat and will keep you on your toes until the end.😍

This is the first book i read from this author and it was really good. Ellie is on her own after her mother passed away when she was a child they went inro protective custody from her father who was leader of biker gang. Ellie goes to small town in middle of now Where. She meets 4 cousins Zain, Marcus, Drew and Cole all four are werebears and claim her as mate. Zain finds someone on their land that sets in motion that Ellie father is after her. They guys protect her. Ellie father goes to prison and most of his gang. When all said and done. They finally can put the past behind them.
I found mated to the clan to be very difficult to get into. Leaving aside the way the author kept switching tenses, which gave me a bit of a headache, I found I had developed no feelings whatsoever for the main character. For all that the plot lines centered around her and her past, very little insight was devoted to getting to know her. And for a reverse harem, what sexytimes happened were pretty tame and glossed over quickly. I doubt I'll go further with this series, if any more books are published.

THE INTERACTIONS OF THE CHARACTERS AND THE STORY LINE ARE A SOURCE OF GREAT ENTERTAINMENT IN THIS TALE OF BEAR SHIFTERS !! THERE IS NO ONE THING THAT IS MORE IMPORTANT IN THE STORY THAN THE NEXT AS THIS CLAN FINDS ITS WAY IN THE WORLD !! I LOVE THESE BEARS AND HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER FOR THEIR HAPPINESS, GRAB THE BOOK AND SEE WHAT YOU THINK !! I AM READING THE BOOK AGAIN THIS WEEKEND BECAUSE I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH !!!

Whilst I found this a little predictable it was still a good tale! The premise of a girl looking for peace and quiet and her past following her as she meets up with 4 bear shifters is good but i found that on occasion things were a little too predictable or fell into place too easily The characters are good and their interaction between each other works for me. On the whole, a reasonably good book and I will be on the look out for more from this author

How would it feel to move into your new apartment and have four absolutely gorgeous men to look at. Now imagine that the men's secrets start to show themselves. Add in a few tastes of the men only to realise that your this bear clans mate. That's what happens to Ellison. Once these bears taste their true mate they will do everything to protect her. Just imagine all the super hot steam that can happen between them, you may need cold showers while reading this book. It's awesome

Ok, within the first few pages I was really enjoying the author’s voice and style. However, very quickly I noticed the author is switching between tenses like mad , like in the same sentence and paragraph even. I did, I do, I did, back and forth. Pick one, for consistency, and for my jangled nerves! Gah, I had to quit b4 the sexy times even, my brain just kept focusing on the flaws, I couldn’t get past them. I’m sure there is more to the book, I just couldn’t get there!
I really enjoyed this book. There was a great storyline and lots of action, plus I get a great love story. Who could ask for anything better?! It’s nice to see a woman getting the love and support she wants and needs from not one but 4 amazing men. A great second novel for Jade Alters’ A Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance series.

I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves bear shifter stories. I can not wait to see what happens next.
