The dragons deserve to be free, but who will be strong enough to ensure their safety? A war long thought over has returned, and this time the empire is not equipped to survive. Still, the dragons are safe, living in the heart of the forest near an ancient Deshazl settlement. Though hidden from the Damhur who would control them, Fes feels they deserve more and longs to see them fly free again. When another attack leaves the empire weakened, Fes and a few friends search for allies. Finding those allies is key, but who can they trust? With the most recent attack, the likelihood of defeat looms close, and without help, they will certainly fail. Worse, not all is as it seems. The war that has raged for centuries has left a far more lasting effect than any have ever known. The empire must be secured, and only then can Fes take the next step in ending the war—this time for good. But if he can’t protect the dragons, how can he defend against the Damhur?

I really enjoy this series. It's the kind of fast-paced and action-packed fantasy I love reading. The books are all quick reads, and yet you feel like they still tell an epic story. I also love rooting for the characters and seeing how they grow as the series goes along.

I had only a few minor quibbles with this one. It was just the slightest bit slow through the middle, and I noticed more typos than usual, like it could have used one more proofread before publication.

That wasn't enough to take away from the fun I had reading it, though.

Book 5

I am really enjoying watching this series unfold! I am still insanely frustrated with grammatical errors and repetitive statements. For example, "“It’s not that I don’t think that you’re not of any use. It has more to do with the fact that from everything that you are." I mean, what kind of a sentence is that?! It makes for choppy reading and not much flow.
Why do I keep reading? Creative storyline, well thought out plot twists and I'm sorta becoming attached to our protagonist, Fezarn. Overall, best book in the series so far.

Repeats characters meandering self doubt over and over repetitive sentences!

This is entirely ridiculous he fought the calling and won in the last book now he can't. You repeat the same sentences over and over. The errors and grammar errors make reading not as smooth as it should be. Redundancy makes these books endlessly long in getting to the point, making the action and plot dribble and drivel on. If they weren't included in my monthly Prime subscriptions I would have put these books aside instead of thinking maybe the next in the series would be better. It's a shame because characters and story have a good basic interest but it's lost on all the killing, violence and all the main characters thought meanderings. Could not finish book after first two chapters I gave up trying to care about what happened.

Pure awesomeness!

In this book, Fes is growing stronger. At first, he seems like he is missing something. He can’t quite figure it out, then the unthinkable happens. The dragons he was meant to protect are taken. He goes to find allies only to find he will find none. They travel back to the empire to find what has happened there. The most amazing thing happens though and you’ll have to read to find out what it is. I enjoyed this book. It was full of action and suspense and I am curious to find Fes’ connection with the dragon he is bonded with. Great author...great read.

Best so faf

Having read many and much, I always notice little things. I love these characters and that is the reason I continue to the end. Did you realize that you didnt describe Fez's Actual appearance until book 4? One minute Fez and Jayell are sitting atop the palace then he helps her up off the ground. I know it isnt all that important but to me I just cringe. Hey, even Sanderson does it.

Still wondering what happened to the little boy

This is a good series, but most of DK Holmberg's books are. I am wondering what happened to the little boy that Azithan took from Jayell and the other priest. I found grammatical errors throughout the book, but I skimmed passed them because I understood what he meant.

Dragons & more Dragons

Once again D.K. Holmberg proves the genius that is lurking in his books. From book one it captures the reader and leaves them Wanting more and he delivers time and time again with a rollercoaster ride of intrigue and betrayal at every turn of the page. Dragon lovers can see and feel the dragons with every turn of the page.

Amazingly well written series, I became very invested in the characters and couldn't wait to read the next volume. At first glance a series 7 volumes long might seem daunting but I was soon snatched away into the world of Dragonwalker and couldn't put each volume down.

Very good

Your books are not conducive to getting any work done. I start with good intentions of pacing myself... I can't put the book down need to find out what happens next.... addictive

Dragonwalker becomes a Dragon Rider

The only words I need to say are,”If you see a book by D.K. Holmberg buy it!” You won’t be disappointed, unless you value sleeping instead of staying up into the morning hours losing yourself in his well crafted tales!

I have enjoyed this series. The characters are interesting and for Fes you can see how he is maturing and his powers are increasing. All he wants is to see the dragons fly free.
