She came into my life like a flash of lightning and disappeared just as fast. Every minute she's away is hell. I can't trust anyone, not even my brother. I'm beginning to lose control. Maybe she's better off without me. Brooks Downing has always played it cool but now that Daria is missing, he feels his control slipping. He's a smart man with a lot to offer but family and duty keep tearing him away from discovering his potential. The stakes keep rising as he tries to navigate through a treacherous and dangerous maze of allegiances and deals. Will Brooks manage to find Daria before his anger leads him down a path he can't return from? You don't want to miss book 2 in the Downing Family from bestselling author, Cassie Wild. The stakes has never been higher.
Cassie Wild loves romance. Ever since she was eight years old she's been reading every romance novel she could get her hands on, always dreaming of writing her own romance novels.
When M.S. Parker approached her about co-authoring the Serving HIM series, it didn't take Cassie many second to say a big yes!!
Serving HIM is only the beginning to the collaboration between M.S. Parker and Cassie Wild. Another series is already in the planning stages.
I didn't know when I got this book that it actually continued the story. I just saw that it was something I needed for a challenge that I was stuck on. However, it wasn't hard for me to follow the story. I was happy that things were starting to look up for Brooks and Daria but of course fate had other plans. That ending was something else and now I definitely need to see what happens next.

Highlevel overview of how the story begins:
Continues from the end of The Escape. Brooks has taken Daria to his island and he has returned to Miami. Daria receives a message from Isabel, her best friend, that she needs to run as her father knows where she is and they are sending someone to get her. This is due to the attempted assault by the patron in their club that paid Daria to dance, but wanted more than that, so she defended herself and now they were looking for retribution.
Daria doesn't call Brooks, so she decides to use his boat and escape. She leaves a note trying to mislead the caretakers of his island and makes her way towards Cuba. Brooks arrives in Miami, and the Castellanos and his family are not happy that he interfered to try and help Daria. His brothers accuse him of being a white knight and that is the only reason that he whisked her away, but Brooks knows better.
Daria makes it to what she believe is Cuba and lets herself into a small fishing shack at a marina. There she finds a couple of bottles of water and a sandwich that she devours before taking a nap on the hard floor. She wakes up the next morning completely sore. Then she remembers about the sunburn she got while driving the boat the day before. She decides it is dumb of her not to call Brooks since he could help her, but she left her phone back at the docks when she borrows his boat, so she needs to find a phone she can use.
Daria decides to walk to a town to see if she can find a phone and maybe some food. She didn't have much money, but hopefully if whomever let her use their didn't charge her too much, she would be able to afford something cheap to eat. She comes across a catholic church and ducks into the back pews where it is cooler. It provides a welcome respite and after the service, the priest approaches her. They talk briefly and she tells him she needs to use a phone. He takes her to a small cantina where they are feed well and she is able to use their business phone.
Brooks is finally getting some sleep when his phone keeps ringing he decides that he needs to get up and answer it. It is the caretaker of his island, Duncan. A few men from the Castanellos organization has breached the island and house, beating up him, their cook and landscaper. This went on for several hours and they were restrained. After they got loose, the landscaper was brought to a hospital, and was in bad shape. Then Duncan found that Daria was gone and it didn't appear that the Castanellos found her.
Daria notices that there is a man there at the cantina that has looked at her several times. The owner speaks to him and he assures her that he is just there to eat. The owner and Daria continues into their office, where she dials Brooks and takes the phone outside. When he picks up both are relieved when they connect. Brooks informs his pilot to change their flight plan and lets Daria know he is on his way and should be there in a few hours. They hang up and when Daria turns around to go back into the office, there is Duardo Castanello ...
I am going to stop there so I don't accidentally provide any spoilers or twists.
Murphy's law plays a predominant role in this book. What can go wrong can and usually will. Daria received a text message from Isabella telling her she needed to RUN now!! Basilio, her father, had found out where Daria was and was sending his men to come get her and bring her back. The last thing Isabella told Daria before she hung up was not to trust anyone!! This is one fast paced series with scenes that will leave your heart palpitating as the Irish Mob and the Cuban Mob start working together. There seems to be a difference in family philosophies as well as far as how they get and treat their employees. The chemistry between Brooks and Daria is off the charts HOT but is it anymore than that or just a continuation of the players moves that Daria has previously been warned about. The overall plot is well laid out with characters that enhance the story and bring the reader where Cassie Wild needs them to be. Your reactions will be heartfelt as you are pulled into this series. I couldn't put it down until I finish it and will be excited when the next book comes out.

Loving this series so far. Looking forward to the next book.
Daria has had a huge dose of reality and she's not sure what to make of it. On one hand her best friend is the daughter of a mobster and her brothers are both horrible people. Isabelle had no idea what her family did and after hearing her father and her husband talking about going to get Daria to make her pay the debt she owes her family. Isabelle makes sure to get a text to Daria telling her to run. Even after fleeing Daria is still found by Duardo, Isabelle's oldest brother. Daria is given a choice on how to pay the debt back, but none of the options are very appealing. She chooses the only option she can which is stripping at one of their clubs to pay her debt. Brooks is trying to find Daria and he is also fully prepared to pay her debt and get her away from Isabelle's family. This is the second book in this series and it has a lot of action as well as some heart pounding scenes where you aren't sure if Daria will make it out unscathed. Definitely a must read after book one and I'm looking forward to book three.
Holy smokes what a story!!! This is book 2 in the Downing Family series and it doesn't miss a beat, picking up right where book 1 left off.
Daria accidentally pissed off the mob after accepting an invitation to "dance" for a mobster. She's naive and thought she was only dancing. But, that old man wanted so much more! She escaped him, hurt him and now she has the mob after her for what she did. Her best friend, Isabel's brother in law Brooks has gotten her out of town to his private island. Security is tight and he thinks she's safe. He goes back to try and smooth out her dancing misunderstanding to save her life.
Daria gets a text from Isabel telling her to get off that island..NOW. The mob was coming for her. She finds her self kidnapped and waits, hoping that Brooks will rescue her.
This was an amazing story!! The chemistry between Brooks and Daria is off the charts!! He's such a player, so should she be steering clear of him? The cliffhanger is killer!! I look forward to reading book 3!!
>Book review – The Debt >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Downing Family series and ends in a cliffhanger. Daria escapes the island and runs to Cuba, where she is immediately taken and forced to strip to pay off her debt. Brooks spends much of the book searching for her, while Isabel finally saves Daria. Isabel realizes what her family is involved in, but is in denial. Brooks pays off Daria’s debt, finally, but one of Isabel’s brothers is still upset over the whole situation and targets Brooks. >Daria finds out her teacher is involved in the prostitution ring, yet stays in the school and tells no one. I couldn’t figure out why she would keep quiet about that. Daria and Brooks keep getting close, then Daria runs. She really needs to trust Brooks. The ending is heartbreaking, but also shows the danger involved with both families. > This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars.
The Debt picks up where The Escape left off. Daria is drawn even further into the darkness of mob life against her will; while Brooks fights to get her free. This book delves into the dark and shady side, while still preserving the overall feel of the series. There are many moments where the reader just wants to engage in violence against the characters due to the emotions Cassie Wild evokes. Reader Discretion advised due to dark subject matter and/or possible triggers. Please note that this book ends with a huge cliffhanger that leaves many things unresolved, giving Ms. Wild plenty of material to work with for her next book.
I received a free copy of the book from the author via Booksprout. I had the opportunity to review or not.
I really enjoyed this book., I could not put it down. Brooks and Daria's story is thrilling, full of suspense, intrigue, drama, and hot sex. You never know what's going to happen when the mafia is involved. The only reason I gave this book four stars is due to the tremendous amount of sex. Don't get me wrong I love hot sex in the stories I read, but it was a bit much. The sex went on and on and on, sometimes taking up 90% of a chapter, sometimes less is more. Still, I'm loving this series, I just skipped through most of the sex. This is the second book in the series and I wrote this same review for book one. In conclusion, read this series, you will not be disappointed. On to "The Punishment" book 3!!
Both families are in the mafia, but both have different values. Each situation has me cringing with disbelief about how things work in this world, but the writing is so believable that you feel for the characters in all of these crazy acts. Brooks is a hero and I love his character. His brother sean is horrible. Marco and Duardo are evil. Isabel and Daria are sweet and loving in this crazy world. This ends on a cliffhanger and I don’t know what Book three brings but I hope karma is about to show up to some people!
Wow another amazing book in this series. Loved every page of it, Daria is still in trouble running from the her friends family. Sean is trying all he can to keep her safe until he couldn't. So many secrets, so many lies come out in this book. Daria just now needs to figure out what to do with herself now that all those come out, and she is out of trouble. Can't wait till book 3 that ending was just so unexpected.
This series keeps getting hotter and hotter. I can't believe Daria was rescued so quickly because I really thought she would be in for some excruciating torture, that's not to say she didn't suffer though. I hope the men that hurt Daria get their just deserves. Just as Brooks is starting to accept he's his feelings for Daria it ends with an explosive cliffhanger. I am sitting on pins and needles now waiting to see what happens to Brooks.
arc review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. For honest review . When daria gets a call from her friend isabel that she needs to run from the castellano's family after a misunderstanding with Delgado She does . Brooks is doing all he can to protect her. Awesome 10 .stars
Book two in this series. Can be read as standalone but I recommend to read the previous first. Written in dual POV which gives the readers a lot more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters. Well written with nice story line and plot. Characters likeable and well described. Emotional and drama filled with twists that makes it worth the read.
Holy s***, These two are seriously amazing together. The chemistry itself is so awesome. The way he wants to protect and guard her is Nobel. Yet again I am left on my toes through this whole thing. I love the characters and the way they flow together. Yet again the ending has me saying WHAT THE F***... lol I am diving into book three.
I didn't quite enjoy this. I felt like the book focused more on the plot than the relationship between Daria and Brooks. It just seemed like they wanted to make sure the series were connected, but it wasn't done in the best way. They keep referring back to their relationship but there's nothing substantial from it.Once they're together again, somehow it just seems to be all about sex. 3 stars
This is not a standalone. It starts right where book 1 left off and ends in a cliffhanger. I'm loving this series. Daria and Brooks have hot chemistry. The writing will suck you in and the story flows quickly. It's told in both Brooks and Daria's POV.
Oh my god, how could you, just as things were looking up for Daria and Brooks, this will mean all out war of its who we think did it, then what will become of Sean and Isabels marriage , eagerly waiting the next book.
Wow I so love this twisted dark story. This story will have you on the edge of your seat. This book isn't for the faint of heart. This stowill have you hooked from the very beginning tell the very end. But must read the first book.
Oh no after what Daria has gone through and what Brookes has done for her, it should have been the the start of a happy ever after, but now im not so sure. Was it Isabel’s family or his own that has stopped them from a happy ever after. Bring on the next instalment
Man! This book seriously had me saying "just hurry up already!" But in a good way. I just wanted her safe! Again if you don't like cliffhangers don't read or give a bad review. Can't wait to start the next one!
Well written about strong characters and awesome mafia things story, at the same time romantic relationship between two mafia mobsters. I think it's just. good for TV series for mature readers and viewers. Recommended
Loved Brooks & Daria's story. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.
