Do you find it hard to get excited about life?
Are you irritable, struggling to escape negative thoughts, or overwhelmed by persistent sadness?

You’re not alone. These are all symptoms of low mood, and are shared by millions of people globally. Often unrecognized, low mood is an emotional state that while milder than depression, can negatively affect every aspect of your life. And the way we think, view, and react is only making things worse.

The good news is, it can be beaten!

Choosing Happy explores the science behind your sadness, and helps you embrace daily joy. It’s proven hacks will teach you to combat the self-loathing, negativity, and irritability, and will encourage you to find and enjoy the little things, that make life the crazy, amazing, mess it is.

If you often feel sad and low then this book is for you. If you simply want to bring more happiness and unadulterated joy into your life then this book is also for you. Are you tired? Cranky? Do you find it hard to get excited about anything? Then this book is definitely for you.

Mental health is not just about conditions such as depression and anxiety. Instead it is about wellness. It’s about realising your potential, living a life you love, and being able to cope with the stresses of everyday life.

And this is what I want for you. To be whole and happy. Body, mind, and spirit.

Low mood is not a part of who you are, and it’s not something you have to live with forever.

You CAN live an outrageously happy life. You just need to know how.

Heidi lives in sunny Sydney with her husband and daughter, where she likes to swim, rock climb, sew, mountain bike and cook- all with a hurricane like approach.

Heidi loves to travel and spent 2 1/2 years living in and wandering around England and Europe. She tries to explore whenever possible and last year spent 2 weeks trekking through the jungles of Sumatra where she discovered a new-found hate of leeches.

Heidi is an internationally bestselling author and she has received widespread media coverage for her work, appearing live on TV, radio and headlining top news sources such as The Daily Mail, News.com.au and the New Zealand Herald.

Heidi is a top mental health writer for Medium and her work has also been published by The Mighty, an online community specialising in mental health, invisible illness and disease.

Her first book Mortgage Free was an Amazon bestseller and is already helping many people smash their mortgages, years ahead of their peers. Her newest book Budget, is the first of 6 books in her new $mall Change - Big Reward$ series, and covers how to find your ultimate budget and get it working for you. This will be followed with 'Debt', 'Save', 'Spend', 'Invest', and 'Retire' over the coming months.

Absolutely love this book! The author's voice is infectious. I love the commonsense, practical, and spirited advice. The pages are flowing with energy, and I'll be reading this a lot in the months and years to come. Highly recommend!

P.S. Enjoyed the music in every chapter! There are other surprises, and it's a very well-organized book.

Choosing Happy is such a great book for those seeking to inject a bit more happiness into their life and reduce sadness but it's also for those who just want to improve the quality of their life a little more. I don't generally get sad but get stressed easily when I have a lot on, am a terrible sleeper and have back and neck issues that are getting worse and worse every year. Oh yeah, and I'm tired all the time. So, not only will Choosing Happy help with defeating the sadness in your life and injecting more joy into it, there are so many ideas in this book to improve well-being and your health that I am already feeling better after one read and I've only made a few small changes so far from the suggestions in Heidi Farrelly's book. Imagine how much better I'll feel when I get into a better routine and really embrace life?!

I love how the author has included music playlists, action steps plus so much more with the recaps and further study outside the book for those who want more. She breaks the 'action steps' up into 'Do Now', 'Plan to Do' and 'Work Towards' which I love as it is easy to become overwhelmed when trying to change things that are creating unhappiness and low mood. It's easy to go back to the book again and again and open it up to any chapter and re-read for different things to try. Broken up into Mind, Routine, Stress, Body, Connect and Self, the book covers so much ground. I highly recommend Choosing Happy.

This a thoroughly researched book on all types of tools that can help you create genuine happiness in your life. As I have written a book on being happier I didn't think I would learn anything new. And a lot of it is what I uncovered - eg: handling emotions better, meditation, gratitude, breathing, giving to others and smiling. However I also found new tools - EFT, the 'box of awesomeness' and music at 120 beats per minute all can help too. It is impossible not to respect the effort that has gone into this book - from the in-book referencing to the quotes and the song recommendations at the start of every chapter (complete with spotify playlists you can search for). Personally, I would have liked a shorter book and one with a real narrative arc rather than a list of hacks, but these are minor points compared with the sheer joy this book exudes. Dive into it anywhere, pull out a hack and use it today. Smile, as the author says, even if you don't feel like it.

Choosing Happy is a 'must read/ must own/ must lend' book! The accompanying soundtrack, thought-provoking art, scientific evidence, and conversational style, all weave together to create something magical- a holistic approach to mental, spiritual, emotional and physical health. I flipped through this book once, then started again armed with pens and highlighters. Reading it is like sitting around a table with your best friend, your grandmother, a counsellor and someone who says it like it is, and having some real talk. Choosing Happy speaks to a world that desperately needs kindness, experience and wisdom in a way that makes you want to lean in and listen. It is not only a call to action, but a guide through the perilous jungles of low-mood. Read this book if you want to take your power back and live a life you love.

An enjoyable, light touch approach to a serious topic. The author has a conversational, self-deprecating style. The chapters were linked in a clever way which reinforced the key messages.
