This is a prequel novella of 29000 words or approximately 100 print pages in the "In Love and War" series, but may be read as a standalone.
This is the first book in a series of books, and I was attracted to it by the colourful cover. I am not normally that into sci-fi books, but the author doesn't fill the story with a lot of techno speak, that usually makes the standard sci-fi novel drag. Instead, it focuses on the characters and how they react to one another.
The story goes at a good pace, and when I reached the end, I was desperate for more.
Unfortuntately, the story had several grammatical errors that at times upset the flow of the story. Overall, this is a solid 4 stars.
