Not Worth Reading

Overall, this set is not worth reading. Here are my reviews of each story:

Unraveling by Lyn Forestser was a wonderful story and if her books were in KU, I would read them all. A girl travels to another town to meet her soul mate, but runs before meeting her destiny and in the process meets three men that she thinks are the same man. Each fills a part of her. In her mind it's all about fated mate vs the heart. The book was very humorous, which is rare. It was heart tugging in places. It was predictable, but still good.

Four Parts Super by Kendra Moreno. Not sure what I can say about this one as I DNF. As a super hero story you have to accept that the guys are going to be in ugly 1980's spandex. I guess you also have to expect that they will have the dumbest names ever aka Captain Wonderful! Really? But yeah, I accepted this as just a unpalatable part of super hero stories. I get that this was cool back when superheroes were invented, but keep up with the times people! Okay, steps off my rant box to tell you why I DNF. Our h is supposed to testify against a mob boss, but instead of going into hiding, she gets stubborn and insists on continuing to work. She's not going to let a bunch of criminals scare her. So her stubbornness immediately leads to a bomb that kills a very nice cop who had a girlfriend and 7 other people, including a child. All dead because of her stubbornness. So when the super heroes try to get her to go into hiding... again, at least until the trial, what does this girl do? Oh yeah, you guessed it. Despite the fact that she's on rookie duty with nothing to actually investigate. Nope, let's just keep putting anyone in her vicinity in mortal danger because she's well, not real bright. When you have the mob, the cartel and a super villain after you, then anything is possible and her choice to just keep putting everyone in danger made me have no respect or liking for her. I didn't care one bit about the rest of the story at that point.

Hearts of Five by LA Kirk. It's an interesting premise, but unfortunately, it's also only part of a story! It's like the first half of a book, you turn the page and it's over, but everything is still hanging and the author hasn't released anything else in this series. She's not a KU author. Overall this was a complete and total waste of my time. If you are going to put half a story in an anthology, you better have the other half available to read!

Leap at Love by Sophia Ann Hoffman - So we have one girl with two kids, a crazy ex and three dolphin guys. There were a lot of strange issues in this story, ie: Natalie and Kai are arrested for possession of cocaine, but then the police act like it's no big deal and it's never spoken of again, by the police or her and her group. They suspect there are bugs in her home, yet no one bothers to search like they talked about. She's in love with the guys so fast, even though some of them have barely held a conversation with her! Not once did they discuss how their society worked before she just kissed another guy after being with Kai, right in front of him. She had sex once with protection and two days later thinks she's pregnant with all the crazy crying for no reason and craving weird stuff. Maybe dolphins are different, because none of this stuff is even close to making any sense. It's like the author wrote a story then went in and chopped out about 3/4 of it without worrying about how those missing pieces would adversely affect it. And boy did it. In the end it was just a choppy, senseless, weird mess.

Lovely Dearest by Nikki Bolvair was overall a good story. It is part of a series, but the author gives enough background that it was easily read as a stand alone. In this book that guys called the h lovely, dearest or love every time they spoke to her. It was ridiculous. Those are endearments a 90 year old would use, not special forces military guys! It just came across as really fake. It wasn't a bad story, just not interesting enough to read more of the series.

Dream Walker by Lili Zander - I'm really torn on this one. It's the first book of a series that won't release a book until next year. It has the bones of a decent story, but the h isn't too bright. Makes one stupid mistake after another and I sooooo hate that in a book. Then at the end they are all stupid. Except for Eamon who had the right idea. You never, ever leave the evil guy that now has the knowledge, the means and the will, to imprison and kill everyone you like or care about alive! No, no, no! The author could have written this where the guy got away somehow or they thought he was dead and didn't have time to check. Something else than making them stupid characters. This girl did so much that just made me want to shake her. I was going to check out the other completed story by this author, but if she writes her female characters as tstl, then I'm afraid to. This could be a fantastic story. It has depth and intrigue. The world building was top notch

Unraveling by Lyn Forester
I absolutely adore the Thread Reader world this author has created and was beyond pleased to return to it in the first book of this year's Falling For Them reverse harem anthology. Unraveling takes us on a ferry from Port Lapton to another town mentioned in previous books set in this world, Shrieve Port. Though this city is bigger than the quaint Port Lapton, it is no less charming. I enjoyed watching the heroine Kady's journey to find the other end of her soul thread very much. Readers know what is going on, but the path to Kady figuring it out was magical.

Four Parts Super by Kendra Moreno
I love superhero stories and am happy for a campy reverse harem involving them however I'm not a fan of female reporter characters in general - nearly every one I have ever encountered in books or TV/movies is the same - a hard-hitting, workaholic journalist willing to do/say anything and risk anyone to get their story, and Dove is no exception to that in this book, so it ended up not working for me mostly because I disliked the heroine and her choices - continuingly putting herself and others in danger because her stories are too important to her. The heroes are likeable to an extent, but I didn't really feel the romance between them and Dove, and I don't know if it was because I didn't like her or because there wasn't enough relationship development on page for my tastes.

Heart of Five by L.A. Kirk
I had read most of this story when it was published as a serial but I re-read to refresh my memory. I feel similarly to how I did then - the plot is really interesting and and I was super intrigued throughout the beginning but began to lose steam as I didn't connect to any of the heroes, who remained largely unknown. I got a teeny bit confused by some of the supernatural world that was created but the bigger issue for me was lack of relationship development. As the story ends with no real resolution of any of the things started I assume there will be more to come, but I'm not sure I am interested in continuing.

Leap at Love by Sofia Ann Hoffman
I went into this story not knowing anything about it and really liked how detailed the beginning was in establishing Natalie's plight and establishing a new location, etc. It started to get less and less detailed, and about more important things, but I was still pretty charmed by the idea, which was a new one to me. It ended up being insta-love/fated love, which is not my favorite, and we didn't really learn about the heroes as individuals. Because the writing itself is so good, I think the story as a whole would benefit from being expanded with the same level of detail applied throughout, allowing for Natalie to get some explanations from everyone involved, for more interactions between her and her men (to really build the connection for the reader) and for some questions about things happening to be answered/explained fully. All in all, as I said earlier, I was charmed by it and thought the writing was very good, and as a consequence it is my second favorite in the anthology so far, with two left to read.

Lovely Dearest by Nikki Bolvair
I am waiting to read this one until after I have read the first three of the series. Even if you don't have to read them first (and I've heard you don't) I'm the kind of person who likes to read things in order.

Dream Walker by Lili Zander
I really enjoyed this fantasy reverse harem story by an author new to me and am looking forward to what comes next. It felt more like a prequel than a fully fleshed out book - it introduces the different worlds, beings/magic types and main characters, then sets the stage for the next part of the story. All of those things were very interesting to me - I like the different powers everyone has and look forward to how the quad will have to work together to fight the villain of the prophecy (and his helpers along the way). We don't see the heroes a ton but I do have a sense of them as individuals already, and I like each of them, as well as Callie, the heroine. A large chunk of time is spent off page for their training for the mission at the end, and presumably the heroine and heroes got to know each other much better during that time, but I hope there is getting to know you and relationship building on page for the readers as the series progresses, as that is typically my favorite part to any romance. I will definitely be watching for the next book to come out, and checking out what else this author may already have out there.

Falling for Them 4 is a solid addition to the collection of RH stories we've come to love. I've reviewed each included book below.

Unraveling - Falling for Them 4 starts off on a wonderful note with one of my favorite authors. Forester does not disappoint with this latest adventure into the world of Port Lapton. The main characters are loveable and charming and I don't want to give anything away, as this one had a few twists and turns that were foreshadowed enough to not exactly be a surprise, but were fun to discover on my own nonetheless. Definitely give this one a read.

Four Parts Super - was okay. I liked the MC and the guys, I liked the twist of a possible #5. I wasn't a fan of the villain (obviously you're not supposed to *like* the villain, but I mean that I found the villain's POV chapters to be awkward and not believable.).

Heart of Five - started as a serial. When I saw the title in this anthology I did a double take, but was pleased to see I might finally get resolution on the story (I had read the 3 parts released to date). I'm not sure if many edits have been made since the serial, since its been quite some time since i read it, but I found myself with the same complaints. Especially during chapter 3, when Meg is getting some background from the guys (the entirety of which feels very forced), her internal dialogue/ thought processes are just too bizarre for me to sink into the story. She goes from terrified, to flirting, to "sobbing" in the blink of an eye and I just can't keep up with the emotional whiplash. Especially since the author does very little to make the reader feel any of those emotions, and instead just projects them onto the MC. The writing improved as the story progressed, and there were fewer of those schizophrenic scenes, but then suddenly it was over with no real resolution to any of the plot arcs. Presumably a sequel is planned, but I'd hoped that since it was "finished and pulled together into a complete book" that we would actually get, ya know, a complete book.

Leap at love - was interesting. A pretty unique premise (I've certainly not read about dolphin shifters before). Quite a few plot holes when I look back on it, but an enjoyable read. Why would Mariah forget she could shift? The story addresses why she couldn't shift initially, but why wouldn't she shift in the months after? I was left with a lot of questions on the legal side. Why did she not tell anyone, her lawyer at least, that the attack at MAR was orchestrated by her ex? Call logs would have confirmed at least part of her story. Between that and the drugs (which the cops believed were not hers thus must have been the ex's) she could have potentially gotten her kids back right then. What was going on with the bad guy? Who was he? how was he linked to Blake? Why was he going after Natalie? Seemed like a bad guy was tossed in just because the author needed a bad guy. While Sara seemed to be a good friend to Natalie I wasn't a fan of the way she kept drugging her with hot chocolate and magic. The HEA was a bit rushed, but expected.

Lovely dearest - is the 4th in a series and I have NOT read the other 3, so I came in to this one a little behind the 8 ball. That said, I think the author did a solid job in the synopsis of telling you what you *need* to know about the series to dive in. Since I didn't read the others I really got no sense at all of any of the background characters personalities - I assume readers of the other stories would know all of them, so it makes sense there was little/no time dedicated to them. The overarching premise is a slightly different twist on the supernatural 'mates' concept, and as stand alone characters I generally liked the 4 MCs. There were some things that irked me about their interactions (mainly overbearing guys and a female MC who acquiesced to their overbearingness) that kept me from totally loving this story, but I generally enjoyed it. I enjoyed the little twist with her brothers, and assume I would have liked it even more if I'd read the full series. I appreciated the story enough to look into the other 3, and since 2/3 are available on Kindle Unlimited I'll probably check them out.

Overall these stories probably average 3 stars, but I think Unraveling is very much worth the read so I'm letting the 4 stars for Unraveling carry this one.

This is another amazing Falling for them anthology, I always get excited when I see another one coming out and I have yet to be disappointed

Unraveling by Lyn Forester

Kady is not very wealthy but she has her job and just managed to pay the bills. When her friends club together for her to meet with the Thread Reader she spends the last of her money to go to Port Shrieve and the address that she was given but when she gets there she is too scared to go in. Instead she runs into a man but she cannot let herself get entangled as her special someone is about somewhere. A chance meeting in the park sets a chain reaction with twists along the way.

This is beautifully written with some amazing and colourful characters, it fits in with the other stories in this series and we meet some familiar faces. I absolutely adored this story and it’s my favourite so far by his author, a fantastic and well crafted read

Four parts super by Kendra Moreno

Oh my goodness!! Gripped from the getgo this is an awesome story. Intrepid reporter Dove Lopez is always in the thick of it and always in danger. Luckily she has four superheroes watching her back!

I am not going to say anymore as I don’t want to leave any spoilers but suffice to say the story has Romance and excitement galore, I am so super excited about this book and I am hoping there will be more Dove and her superhero’s, my only criticism is that there are a few spelling and hammer errors and I feel it could have been tidied up a little, but that said it is an awesome story

Heart of five by LA Kirk

Megs concerns about her eyes leads he to drive up north to try and find answers, after a freak incident leaves her stranded in a little town en route she has to get her car fixed and she stumbles upon some strange people and again things change for Meg, her life takes a drastic turn

Well written I really enjoyed this story and need to read more, I will Be following this series through, the characters are colourful and interesting, I love the storyline and the excitement

Leap of Love by Sofia Ann Hoffman

I enjoyed this story it is full of feels excitement and romance, I don’t want to give any spoilers so that is all I am going to say, but a great story well worth reading

Lovely Dearest by Nikki Bolvair

I have read the other three books in this series and have loved them immensely, I love Hailey, she is the most normal of the heroines in this series, losing her husband and all the heartbreak and stress she has to go through make her so relateable.

With a great storyline and some fantastic characters who we have briefly met previously, this is a fantastic read, I did not want to put it down

Dreamwalker by Lili Zander

Exciting from the start, Calliope I s a dream Walker, she barely makes enough to cover her rent, her brother is in jail and she is trying hard to make ends meet by illegally dream walking. A job goes wrong and her life and problems as she knows them change beyond her wildest thoughts

The story is exciting with some colourful characters, I am intrigued by the story and look forward to the story continuing

This is a great anthology of stories, in have bought and read all the falling for them anthologies and have yet to be disappointed

Falling For Them Volume 4 continues the excellence of the annual Reverse Harem Anthology featuring six amazing authors in this genre. Lyn Forester, Kendra Moreno, LA Kirk, Sofia Ann Hoffman, Nikki Bolvair, and Lili Zander each contribute to this set.

Unraveling by Lyn Forester, 5 stars. When Kady visits the Thread reader to discover her soul-bound love, it didn't go as planned. Most people have a simple thread that leads them directly to their other half; Kady got an address. A short trip to Shrieve Port to find her love ends up more complicated than expected. Kady chickens out once she arrives at the address but she does meet a special someone, actually three special someones. Now she has a decision to make; does she follow her heart or her destiny? And how does her new elderly friend Pappy Mack fit into this decision?
When I opened the first page and the words Port Lapton jumped out at me, I squealed. I LOVE these stories. Mystical, magical, romantic, and original. I love Hamilton, the will-o'-the-wisps, and the leviathans. I love the Knitting Nannies and bad casseroles. Now I can add gargoyles, chess matches, diners, amphitheaters, and art shows to the list. These stories are all so genuine that I feel like I am sitting in the diner watching mishaps, tapping my feet along to the music in the pub or thrilling over the flight of the gargoyles. I fell in love with these characters just like every single character before them. These stories make me selfish, greedy. They are never enough. I want more Kady, more Rory, Gregory, more Rhodri, and even more Pappy Mack!

Four Parts Super by Kendra Moreno, 4 stars. Dove Lopez, Danger Reporter latest story has the evidence needed to put the local mafia boss in jail. Now he wants her dead. When he joins forces with the cartel that is already after her under the power of a new Supervillain, Dark Goddess, the city's four Supers become her personal protectors. Captain Wonderful, Professor Phosphor, Commander Ice, and Hex each bring their own type of danger and soon Dove finds herself falling for all of them.
This is a great adventure story! Plenty of action, plenty of romance, and more than a few surprises thrown in along the way. I loved getting a glimpse of the men behind the masks. I can easily see this becoming an epic series.

Heart of Five by LA Kirk, 4 stars. Meg was normal until her 25th birthday when her eyes turned the color of a tangerine. Following a lead from the internet, Meg sets out to find answers and soon finds herself in deep in the world of shifters. But she isn't safe there either since her eyes prove that she is different, that she has secrets, and the council is now searching for her. A supernatural investigative team; Brock, Quinn, Mitch, Red, and Archer finds her but instead of turning her in, the men discover they have found their heart and their purpose is bigger than they once thought. This is an interesting story that I first rad in its serial format. This is better. I still need more. The separation time between Meg and the guys is too long and it seems that the story is just starting when it ends. I am hoping for more!

Leap of Love by Sofia Ann Hoffman, 4 stars. natalie has just lost custody of her kids to her angry ex-husband Blake. She has been ordered by the court to go back to college, to get a job, and to prove that she can support the children within the next six months. her ex is determined that she will not succeed and have a chance to win the kids back. Staying with her best friend, Natalie spends her evenings watching a dolphin play out in the ocean. One evening the dolphin is injured and when Natalie rescues him, she gets a job at a local marine rehabilitation center. This opens up a whole new world to her, the world she was meant to be in from the day she was born. Kai, Sol, and Conall and her dear friend Sara help bring the magic back into Natalie and her children's lives. This story caught me by surprise. Sweet, original, romantic. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I have to note that as awful as Natalie's ex-husband was, her neighbors were equally awesome. What a great surprise. I loved their part in the story!

Lovely Dearest by Nikki Bolvair, 5 stars. When Hailey finds herself widowed with 2 small children and overwhelming debt she has no choice but to move back home and accept her parents help. One the drive home, she stops with the children at a restaurant with a playland. While her kids enjoy playing with new friends, Hailey makes some friends of her own but the delay leaves them stranded in a snowstorm. Her new friends insist that she stay with them until the storm passes and the roads are cleared. Her friends are all married to the supersoldiers of the H-15 serum trials and once at the compound, it's clear that Hailey also has ties to the serum. Kellen, Zane, and Samuel immediately feel the connection and so does Hailey but she's made a vow to never love and lose again. Can these soldiers break through her defense? This is a continuation of the Lovely dearest series. This novella is my favorite so far. I loved the relationship between Hailey and her children. jackson was such a little man and Riley was adorably precious. The way the men took to the children won my heart over immediately. My only complaint was the abrupt ending. I loved the appearance of Hailey's brothers and looked forward to Christmas, so I felt a little cheated with the direction the story took at the ending. Call me greedy, I wanted more!

Dream Walker by Lili Zander, 5 stars. Callie O'Malley is a free-lance writer, a smuggler, and an unregistered dream-walker. Two of the three could get her imprisoned for life, so she lives her life under the radar. But now she's been found. Not by the enforcers, but by three powerful men. Eammon, a half-demon, Nicholas, the dragon leader, and Gael, a sorcerer. They tell her she's part of a prophecy to rival the most dangerous, evil being in the universe. Promising to help her free her brother if she works with them, Callie can't resist. It appears she won't be able to resist much about her men. This story did not grab me from the beginning. The prologue was almost overwhelming with the names and beings. However, once into the story, I realized that the set-up was necessary. And once it joined Callie in modern-day, I fell in love with the story and the characters quickly. The characters are compelling, their chemistry undeniable, and their mission exciting. The banter, the flirting, their every interaction held my attention. The side characters are just as intriguing in both good and bad ways. I am most excited about this series.

Definitely another great collection. I can't recommend them enough and the value is unbeatable. I really hope these anthologies keep coming!

I usually dont like anthologies BUT I have always enjoyed the falling for them anthologies so I was excited to read this one.

I was super excited to see the Unraveling was another story in the Thread Weaver world. It was my FAVORITE one Ive read in that world so far! I loved Kadys personality and i loved the men. At first I was afraid it was going to be cliche but when I kept reading I found myself laughing outloud and really enjoyed the whole story line. I wish we got to know more of their story.

Heart of five I was actually lucky enough to read the start of this saga back when it started as a serial and then I stopped so I was excited to re read the beginning and to learn more about Megs powers. This story is quick paced and has some yummy males in it. There is still alot of unanswered questions and I hope we get more answers in the next book.

Leap at love was a fun read. It was nice to read an RH that had kids in it from the beginning. I have children of my own so I find it easy to relate to Natlies character. I wish the book had more details and went more in depth but it was an enjoyable quick read.

Dream walker was well written and I love the whole concept beind it. I love reading about worlds/ realities that authors have to create and this one was exciting to read. I cannot wait till the next book comes out because I feel like Callie and her men have a TON of potential!

Four parts super was a great read! I havent read a super hero RH before so it was a refreshing new story line. I love Dove and her tenacity. And I love the super heros. Ilook forward to reading what happens next in this story!

Ok

The first and the last book I thought were worth 5stars the other books were totally meh. One of them was so bad I just skipped to the end, poorly written with the main characters offering up tears with no real background emotion. She was worried about her safety yet went for a walk around a Forrest in the middle of the night. It was just naff. But book 1 was good and the last one was very well written and a great story.

So far I have read leap at love. I really hope Sophia plans to extend this story because as it is now it is choppy, the transitions are poorly executed and nothing is eplained. She spends a whole 15 minutes with a guy and knows he loves her. Your friend isn't who you thought she was, no big, no explanation of reaction. Over all i was woefully unimpressed.

Really good!

All of these stories are so good! I will be honest, half the time I like maybe three stories out of an anthology. This time, I loved them all! Some of them brought in strong emotional responses, like almost sobbing! They all have HEA's!!!
