Great addition to the series. Once again the story pulled me right back into this unusual world. This installment was just as entertaining, engaging and enjoyable as the first book.

With the mixture of Native American legends woven into the story it's a creative, original and unusual world the story takes place in.

Great cast of well rounded characters. Love Barstow.

It's a dangerous game infiltrating a government organization in order to bring it down/change society. The Advisor has complete control of everything. One wrong move and Finn will be discovered. Fighting for the truth and what is right will come at a great cost to some. Finn finds himself caught up in a situation that might end up costing everything he loves. Sacrificing the few for the good of the many will come with a price.

Zachary Johnson did a great job with the narration once again. He is the perfect narrator for this series. Nice voice easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a smooth even pace. Good character voices. There is not much difference between his male and female character voices just a slight change in tone. At the same time I never had a problem understanding which character was speaking. I would rather just have the slight change in tone instead of a high falsetto female voice which is extremely annoying. He was able to make the characters and story come to life through his narration. Very enjoyable.

The volume/sound quality fluctuates numerous times. I had to turn it up, then turn it back down. Nothing to extreme though or enough to distract me from the story.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily provided this review.

I received audiobook version of this book for free from the author in exchange for an unbiased review.

After finishing the first book, I couldn't not listen to the next one. In fact, I had finished book 1 in the morning and had started listening to this book #2 by lunch time. The author was kind enough to provide me a code for all 3 books, so it was easy to listen to all 3 in sequence.

This book #2 is a solid continuation of the story started in book 1. It thankfully survives the fate of sequels sucking. If anything, the story is even better in this one, with higher stakes. It was almost edge of the seat story. I'm always a sucker for a "might lose the loved one" mission stories and this book delivers that story in a beautiful way. Eryn Carpenter has way with portraying the internal struggle of character dealing with that dilemma. I identified with the character so much. I'll say it again, character building is the strongest suite of this series.

Having had listened to Zachary Johnson's narration for more than 14 hours at this point, I feel like he was the best choice as a narrator for this series. All his character voices and inflection sounded natural and perfect. There were volume normalization issue in this audiobook, but not too extreme.

Finn's journey gets even more exciting in book 2! I am listening to the audiobook trilogy and reviewing each book as they complete. In this book Finn has more tough decisions to make. The suspense is high and I had a hard time putting this down becasue I wanted to know what happened next. Excited for book 3 but I hate to see it end. I really like this narrator's voice defintely in my top 5!

This is an exceptional series. I can't seem to put it down. The world is well thought out, the characters likeable, and the plot pulls it all together. I highly recommend this YA book to anyone who enjoys the genre, regardless of age.
