What a cliffhanger!! The ending completely threw my feelings out of whack, and I'm still trying to process my mix of shock, anger, and fear about
In terms of the plot prior to the cliffhanger, I particularly enjoyed getting to know Shizuna and Hatori. The おもてなし, お土産 and 宴 chapters were my favorites - probably because in the first two it was mainly 葵 and 大旦那様, and in the third most of the main cast was present. There was also a fun chapter with 暁 - I love his grumpy older brother character! He and Aoi have a great sibling dynamic. In general, these chapters were very fun and light. As the author says in the あとがき, this was really the calm before the storm.
I love the cover of this volume as well - it's very pretty and really fits the vibes and the story well! Also, I adore the writing style - it's very charming and colloquial. Aoi is the best MC (even if she does have a propensity for eavesdropping that gives me secondhand embarrassment more than I would like...)
Overall, I enjoyed the third volume in the かくりよの宿飯 series and will absolutely be reading book four soon after the cliffhanger ending. Definitely recommended! This book was very fun - I just recommend having snacks and book four on hand before reading. 4 stars!
