Ice loves Phire, but he figures she’ll be waiting when he’s finally ready to grow up. But, life has a way of humbling us, and Ice definitely invites the worst karma…
Beautiful, bright, and determined, Sapphire “Phire” Henson tries to hold things down until Ice realizes the prize he has in her. For eight years, she’s fiercely loyal until Ice pushes her way too far. For the first time, it looks like Ice may not able to come back from his mistakes, especially since the sexy gunrunner, Caelan Bleu, has Phire in his sights.
After struggling out of the hood, Jace is on his way to stardom. His first sight of his lovely, reserved tutor, Laila, had knocked him off his feet. Determined to have her, he pursues the reluctant BBW until he makes her his. But in one careless moment, Jace finds himself losing her trust and maybe, her love. Can the basketball standout rebound in this situation he never imagined?
First born son of Talitha and Elijah Harrison, Elijah “Jah” Harrison, II, is the streetwise heir-apparent to his parents’ drug empire. He’s cool, reserved, and distant… until he meets Ariana. When she doesn’t fall in line like he’s used to, will Jah be able to deal with the independent streak that sometimes leads Ari to put her life and that of their son, in danger?
Six-and-a-half years ago, Jace’s big brother and Jah’s best friend, Josiah “Si” Taylor, faked his death after an ambush. He doesn’t know what to think or who to trust. An unraveling mystery combines with his desire to be reunited with his family… and the gorgeous, mysterious clothing designer Beautiful Toussaint to draw Si back to San Antonio and back into the game.
Find out if the Harrisons and Taylors can turn their romantic fortunes around before they lose everything.

Disappointed

I feel like the wrong done by the Fellas was way worse than the wrong done by the ladies yet all three of them ended up groveling and apologizing to the men. I don’t get it. It seemed like the men would hurt the women, the couple would get into it, the Fella would curse the chick out for filth go and sleep with random, embarrassing their chick, and then lightweight stalk them. I didn’t like it. I want the men to grovel and fight for their relationships but they hit the chicks with reverse psychology and made the chicks cry and grovel instead. It just left me disappointed with the whole story. And then the ending was just too much. The author jammed a whole bunch in those last few chapters and I don’t get why. And what the hell happened to Bleu??? This story was all over the place.

Ummm...

Part 1 was good. Book should've definitely been called Phire and Ice and everybody else because their were a million main characters. By book 2...I cared more about Laila and Jace and Jah and Ari than Phire and Ice. And I felt like book 2 was rushed at the middle to end of it. Maybe. Still good....just rushed to the ending. I mean...a whole damned decade went by...but ijs.

Eh. This book was okay. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't fully get it for me. I found myself wanting to skip through certain dialogues to hurry to the end. I also kept looking at the page marker, like dang, how much more to go. Which, for an author like Elle, surprised me. I guess this book just seemed to be a bit drawn out. I also felt like the ending was a bit rushed. Like it ended to abruptly.

However, I am happy that Ice grew up, because my goodness, he was annoying. Phire was okay. I didn't dislike her and I am happy they both got their happy endings.

I thought Elijah and Ariana was weird. They just both seemed to be very immature. Elijah kinda expecting things that he isn't really voicing drove me crazy. IDK - I just don't think I liked his overall attitude. You wanted Ariana, but didn't actually express that, but shut her out and treated her like shit. Ariana, instead of listening to your sister, you literally almost caused serious danger to you and your child over a true sperm donor. His actions from the jump should've been the biggest red flag.

Jace and Laila. My goooooooood. Laila was wroooooong. She was truly set tripping and for her to not see her wrongdoings is CRAZY. While Jace could've been a bit more mature about his overall emotions, he definitely was not wrong for feeling the way he did. In the end though, it all worked out.

Was not expecting any of that from Talitha. LMAO - almost like she knew who was behind all the attacks, but let it happen? Or maybe not, but she was wrong to me.

Overall, decent read, but not the best book i've read by Elle. DEMON'S DREAM tops everything. lmao

Whhhheeeewww Ms. Kayson you came with it for this finale ( think it's the finale anyway lol)
So much happened in Book 2 and I was trying to keep up lol

Phire & Ice: Mannnnnnnn lol their love was sumn fierce lol
Like I saw things going differently honestly in regards to Ice & Keeli, but I enjoyed the way you wrote their story. I enjoyed seeing Ice's growth from a lil boy to a grown man.
Phire is Phire lol she didn't change much, but she definitely learned her worth in those 7 years.

Jace & Lay: I wanted to fight Lay's butt sooooo bad when everything came out! Like boo how you do that to that man know how he felt about something like that. She did give him a dose of medicine that he didn't like lol I can't be mad at her for protecting her heart tho.
Jace smdh I was mad about how he went about getting over Lay well trying to anyway, but that's what guys do to get over hurt smdh

Si & B: I realllllyyyyy hope that he did what he promised after Mama T handled their light weight lol because you won't find someone to keep you and balance you like B did for him

Jah & Ari: Mannnnnnnnn I give it to Ari for standing firm in leaving Jah alone after everything they went through because I know it was hard with how much she loved him. Jah was a complete and utter fool for how he treated her smdh like he was so ready to believe that she was on some foul stuff that he wouldn't even listen. I'm so glad that he stepped in for Colin the way her did.

Lilah Mae & Key: I need a book for them lol Like we only caught glimpses of their love, but I know Key be giving to her lol

Atarah: Boo you gon have to grow up smdh lol Like you really thought Mark was about you, but then I have to remember she is young and naive

I think I covered everybody lol if I didn't charge to my head and not my heart

⭐️⭐️⭐️

High drama
Entertaining
Lots of moving pieces

And while all of that caused me to quickly sail through this duet. I must say the growth of the characters wasn’t there. Did they age, yes? Did they become richer, yes? Was there a lot of sex, of course?

But where was the real healing? These couples circled each other for years due to all of the entangled relationships. Still I would’ve wanted to see some true courting of these women- that didn’t involve throwing money at them and sex.

None of the men really became better people. And the women accepted their foolishness, one of them- maybe more even abstained from other men for someone who threatened her at every turn.

Not exactly, romance. But definitely an entertaining read.

Whew! Phire and Ice's love story was definitely a roller coaster ride, and it stressed me out along the way. However, I was satisfied with how things ended with them, as well as with the other couples. This story is definitely a testament of the "heart wants what it wants," and growth, maturity, and truth are important factors in a healthy relationship.

Phire and Ice were childhood sweethearts, but throughout their teenage years and early adulthood, he treated her badly but claimed to love her so much. He watched himself repeatedly disrespect her, literally embarrass her, and treat her poorly to one of the lowest forms before he realized he needed to stay away from her so she could heal and become better for herself.

Phire tried so hard to be done with Ice, but her love for him only led her to give him multiple chances. Though she gave him one too many, her love for him never disappeared, and his for her, and ultimately, that brought them back together. The karma and hardships Ice experienced later in life were well-deserved wake-up calls that helped him mature into a better man. A lot went on; I'm just glad they got it together.

I loved the man Elijah was when it came to being a protector and provider for Ari, her sister, and her son. However, I wished he would've given her more grace and understanding. They wasted too many years not in a relationship with the love that had always been there. I understood his frustrations with her being "too independent." However, he knew about her past and should've given her more grace and helped her accept the mindset of receiving help rooted in love and care.

Joshua and Laila were another stressful couple, but I understood the arguments on both ends. Laila had many insecurities, and ultimately, she couldn't 100% grasp the idea that Joshua genuinely loved her and wanted to be with her only. Because of his popularity, status, and rising success, she felt it was better to sabotage things than deal with hypothetical situations.

Now, that one night with Joshua's agent definitely gave her the right to step back and take some time away from him. But ultimately, that one incident was not the main problem. As much as Joshua tried to make her feel secure and reassure her that she was the one for him, they needed that time apart to completely verify on both ends that they were meant to be together.

Overall, this was definitely a good two-book series.

This is for both books ...

*sigh* ... let me say that the first book that I have ever read by this author is Demon's Dream. Needless to say, that book became my favorite. So when everyone was saying how this book is so much like it, I gave it try. They could not have been more wrong.

As someone stated, these books are more about Jace and Laila, more than Phire and Ice. The title just sounded better, I guess. Ice was never appealing. Not throughout the entire two books. The first book I chose not to DNF because I started to like Elijah's character, but then he started irritating me throughout the book. Their reasoning for initially shutting off their hurt was not valid. Your daddy dogged your momma and then was sick when she got her get back, and yall never wanted to be like him ? Sounds like lack of accountability if you ask me. Simply don't do what he did.

Ice was a dog and didn't suffer enough for me. I didn't see the growth in his character for him to have the happy ending that he did. He was a manipulator, and Phire was weak. Then again, I despise cheaters. I feel like you can overcome a lot in a relationship except for cheating and abuse. He didn't even do anything to truly win her back besides foreplay and more mind games. My girl deserved better.

Elijah ... hmm, idk. His emotions were a lot, but I enjoyed the ride. But just like he wasn't quick to open his heart, he should have given that grave to Ari to understand what she had to endure. But he shook back, so I'll let me live.

Jace and Laila were the MC regardless of what the title read. I don't really have much to say on them. It is what it is, I guess.

Key becoming this "enforcer" was laughable. She went from hardheaded little sister, beating up on grown men ? Yeah ... nah.

The plot was lackluster. There were unfinished storylines such as Bleu. He just disappeared without an explanation. Built them up in the first book, dropped him in the second.

Josiah could've stayed dead, and that storyline of revenge was dumb asf. The second book sucked and the end of it was even worse. There's so much more I can say, but I'll end it here.

I devoured this duet. Everything comes full circle in this book as we continue to read about the characters we fell in love with. This was a drama filled romance story that never had a dull moment and full of steamy scenes, suspense, secrets, forgiveness, heartbreaks, laughs, love, makeups, breakups, threats, deaths and so much more. I have to say that momma Talitha surprised me near the end of the story. I knew that she loved and would do what she needed to protect those around her, but I never expected her to do THAT. I absolutely loved both of these books from this author and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books from this author and will be recommending this one to friends.

This chapter 🤦🏾‍♀️ should be called "this can't be life"! Or "Should Woulda, and Coulda"!!

Years!!! These people wasted years being miserable apart and away from loved ones because of pride and fear.

Every time I saw another year go by my brain, literally itched, and my eye twitched.

However, one could say some of them needed to separate, grow up to be what the other needed.

Elle played ALOT! Things weren't always what they seemed, and just when you thought you figured the mystery out... nope. That ain't it.

*Soul Ties- It was always going to be Phire & Ice
*Star-crossed Lovers- Josh & Laila
*Family isn't always the one you are born into Arianna & Jah

One time for the Virgin Islands 🇻🇮! I had a blast reading Beautiful's parts in the Islands dialect!

This series was a rough ride for me! It definitely took through some things. I don't think I've ever read a book where I disliked EVERY character in the book. I mean, I literally disliked everyone except Beautiful....lol.

It wasn't until about 80% where the characters started acting appropriately...lol. Like, I want my fiction to fiction...not be this damn real life.

The choices of these characters were so line with what we would do in real life, how we get in our own way. How we don't see the good in people at first.... this book was that and I felt personally attacked...lol.

This was a good read though... to real life for me but very well written. Again, you can tell this was an earlier book for Elle, but I'm not mad I read it.

Okay…part two was definitely still with the shits, in a very positive way. I could not fly through the pages quick enough. However, with all the new drama introduced on top of all of the past unresolved drama, the ending was a bit disappointing. Am I happy about the conclusions, yes. But, I would’ve liked to see the progression to those conclusions. It felt very much like we were putting bows on situations that still needed resolution just for the sake of ending the story. A few more pages probably would’ve done the trick. Overall I still hit it with a
5⭐️ because it was a fantastically wild ride!

Be Apart to Grow together

This story was so DOPE! Elle always comes through with the fire. I didn't go back to read 1 but the back story at the beginning helped. The story is always put together and easy to get caught up in. The relationships a bipolar. At time you want them to be together but then Elle flips things and you hate all of the men. I don't know about anyone else but the Yoga scene LITERALLY HAD ME IN TEEEEAAARRRSSS!!!. They was so extra I would put all of them out my studio. Overall I really enjoyed the book and glad how things turned out.

a whole damn roller coaster

Whew! What a ride. This book had it all. Loved how the story evolved over time and though you may have wanted a certain outcome the twists and turns kept you guessing.

The steaminess, the love, the mayhem…all perfection.

I also love that Elle writes multidimensional characters. Some of my favorite writers have the females being so narcissistic and never having to deal with the drama they’ve caused. Not Elle. Her stories are always so real and captivating. They will have you twisted up and shouting at the characters. So good!

okay sequel

I enjoyed the first book and looked forward to reading this one. It was just okay. It felt a little choppy, maybe because of the time jumps and kind of made it hard to follow at some points. Like it felt like information was missing. I also feel like the background issue of who was coming for them could have been resolved better. It was kinda rushed and left me with questions. I think its worth reading to see how things turn out but it wasnt as good as the first book.

the ending felt rushed

Yall know I love me some Elle Kayson and her stories! This one was no different. The storylines were on point and it was never a dull moment-so many twists and turns! But once we got like 70% through the book it seemed like the ending was rushed. I would’ve liked more details and backstories-a longer 2nd book or perhaps even a third! I honestly thought none of the couples would get their happy ending and then they all came through in the last couple of chapters. That’s this books only downfall. I would still highly recommend this series.

Like the ending

I hated all the flashbacks at first but they began to make sense and made the story flow...laila and ariana drove me insane with their stupid ways of thinking but without their characters I think this would been a totally different series...and where Tre storytelling a$$ come from LMAO!!! I swear I get excited when I see his character hoping to hear a story and visualize a gruesome murder(sad,I know)! I'm starting to think I'm addicted to Elle's books!

I should have known this would be an amazing read!!!!
But whew! It was A LOT! So many characters, so many plot twists. I didn't know if I was coming or going. I thought book one was unnerving, but then got ro book 2 and the stuff hit the fan. I would absolutely love this on audio woth a full cast. With good narrators, of course. This story was riveting. So much drama. So much love. I enjoyed it a lot.

This was a journey!

Wasn't the biggest fans of the time jumps but I see what the author was trying to illustrate. I loved the characters. The ending of finding out who was after them was kind of blah. The ending felt kind of rushed. What I did like was seeing how they truly went through stuff and for a minute I wasn't sure who they would end up with and I never expected that Keeli situation!

So this series was not my favorite from Ms. Elle but I am happy for Jace and Lay - they were definitely my most favorite. The story with Ice and Keeli I think I could have done without but am happy for the little twist at the end cause wtw. Jah…mmmmm idk bout that storyline either…And not to spoil it but Si what in the actual f$$k 😂. Hated the 15 year get back plot over some stupid foolishness-I don’t even really know what that was about. It was A LOT going on in this lil series.

Book worm

Omg that was so good. I was excited to see the Phire and Ice found their way back to each other. Ice took Phire through so much and the woman he slept with I hated that his Karma took his daughter away from him. Laila was foul for hiding Jace's kids from him but, that didn't stop them for fighting to be with each other.

Come through Elle!

Phire and Ice was so good. Makes you not want them to go. I loved them! They all had their moments of head assery but I loved them nonetheless. I did have a few questions to what happened. Like Caelan Bleu. I know Phire saw him at Golden’s wedding but was it more to them not making it past Ice? Did Ari and Elijah get married to? And Josiah and Beautiful, felt like that left a little more to be desired. But overall really great read!

What in the world 🌎 I just didn't think we were going to get a happy ending. Ice evolved onto a good guy. I'm so glad the Laila was able to beat Paige a$$, why do the Becky's of the world thinkthink the are better than we are for our black kings. This series is si worst reading. Great job

I must admit I did not want Phire with Ice. I just don’t think it take all that in order to change. Unfortunately for some it does. Anyway… my favorite couple was Jace and Laila. Hopefully we get an update with the kids. I know Cade and them twins are something else. Ooohh and Si and Beautiful daughter! Lawd that would be a good series for the next generation

Loved it❤️❤️❤️. Ice & Phire, Jah & Ari, and Jace & Laila all gave me anxiety. The missed opportunities to get shit right was crazy. That yoga scene with the ladies had me hollering. They knew they were headed to hell 😂😂😂. I loved how Beautiful was on point. I need a ready by her. I was shocked about Cade’s mother. I didn’t see that coming. I want more from these loving misfits.

Ice wasn’t playing. He got his Phire back FORREAL. Sad he had to have so much loss for him to realize he needed to grow up. Look at Jace with his possessive self. Laila should have told him about the kids but he didn’t have to treat as bad as he did once he found out. Glad they got it together. Good series!!!
