My Thoughts: I have two major issues with this story: (1) it was not believable in any possible way; and (2) the pacing was all screwed up with the story that led to it not being believable.
Liam and Nick were a bisexual in a committed relationship with each other, but looking for a third partner, a woman, to complete their relationship circle. Liam and nice are described as sexy so it seems a bit strange that they would find what they are looking for in a conservative librarian...who way too quickly turns into a vixen, IMO.
The men's first interaction with her is them telling her that they are bisexual and they want her to join them. Liam makes this rather bold statement to her while she is working...at the library. She is left speechless and floored so Nick hastily apologizes and ushers Liam out of the library. Feeling badly, the men send her "apology flowers" that evening with a card requesting that Lindsay call them, which she does when she goes home. Conveniently, Lindsay is taking a bath and when the men discover that fact, they are instantly turned on and ask her to masturbate for them over the phone...which she does! The story completely loses any credibility for me at that point. She goes from stunned silence to phone sex?!?!? From that one interaction, Lindsday pretty quickly embarks on a fast-tracked relationship with Liam and Nick. The words, "I love you" are spoken way to quickly but this is fiction so not completely unexpected.
The story just takes an odd meandering path to the conclusion. The interjection of her father's death and her mother's return makes the story even more spastic. I understand that Tyler interjected that story line to explain why Lindsay hesitantly responded to a permanent relationship with the men. However, its infusion in the story into the story did not aid in making the story stronger or believable. Sometimes less is more in literature.
Be With Us is about overcoming your fears and embracing the future with both hands. It is a story about a ménage a trois and features M/M as well as M/F/M, so if that doesn’t appeal to you, then don’t bother. Liam and Nick are in a relationship and have been for a while, but they are looking for a permanent third to complete their love triad. They both think that Lindsay, the curvy librarian is the one. Now the only thing is convincing her that they are the ones for her. Lindsay is a nice girl who has had a hard life – her mother deserted her and her father because she couldn’t cope with the gossip that swirled around the small town that her husband and her sister were having an affair. Instead of facing up to the gossip, she deserted her family and Lindsay suffered as a child. Lindsay also tried to find her mother years later, only to find that she had already put her first daughter aside and substituted her with another daughter and a husband. Lindsay has issues to deal with and unless she deals with them, they could cost her the love of the two men who worm their way into her heart and her life. I liked the character of Lindsay – she was down to earth, but also had a sexiness to her that obviously attracted Liam and Nick. On top of that she also had her own demons to deal with – would she grasp what she was being offered by Liam and Nick, or would she deny herself and the guys of the chance of a fantastic ménage relationship? Liam and Nick were obviously so in love with each other, but they wanted a third. That would make everything complete and they chose Lindsay. Liam and Nick were both strong, caring males, and they knew what gossip could do, having dealt with it themselves, so they could in part understand some of Lindsay’s fears. What I really liked about both of them was that for them it wasn’t just about the sex – they wanted more. These guys were so male, innately sexy and hot, but also caring and considerate. They wanted a real grounded relationship and while I felt that the initial meeting/getting to know Lindsay lacked a bit of detail and explanation, it didn’t affect the overall story. Add a good friend, the return of the wayward mother and a nasty co-worker and you have an interesting read! Overall this was a great story – plenty of hot loving and great sex, emotional issues to deal with and on top of that, two gorgeous hunks who yearn for one lucky girl. Definitely worth a read!
I love Lynn Tyler. She has such great characters that develop so richly in the small amount of space in her book. The love is strong, the sex is mind and panty blowing. She is just amazing!
I also wouldn't mind being a part of the Nick and Liam sandwich. Their love is beautiful, their characters dynamic, definitely in the top list of favorite male love interests.
Story line is not believable. Obvious is over indulged and important character development is assumed. Made it difficult to connect to anyone and somewhat predictable. I liked that it was a short read.
This hot ménage novella is laced with sweetness too. A difficult childhood makes Lindsay reluctant to take up the offer of her dreams, but she might just be convinced.
