2.5 stars. I saw the title and automatically thought this was going to have a lot of filth in it. Demon Load? Come on…however, this felt just like a Goosebumps story. Very little language, no sex, no violence…just a story about some kid fighting against his self-aware washing machine that’s gradually taking over his home. The story is very ludicrous, but not in the normal way that other Shingles books are. And there were quite a few similarities between this premise and the old Treehouse of Horror when Pierce Brosnan as the AI took over the Simpson’s house. The writing was fine, but it lacked the normal charm of the other books in the series, resulting in something of a YA feel, which doesn’t appeal to me. Overall, I give it a meh.
Entertaining Fantasy listening 🎧 Dave gets a new clothes washer which starts talking and making changes in thier life. I would recommend this series to readers or listeners of fantasy novels 2023
