No one is more surprised than Cold Case Detective, Ronan O’Mara when he answers his doorbell one night to see members of Salem’s Wiccan community standing on his doorstep with an unbelievable story to tell. According to them, members of their coven are being murdered in a modern-day witch hunt and they want Ronan to look into the matter for them.
Psychic, Tennyson Grimm is skeptical of the witches’ claims. After the initial investigation turns up ordinary deaths in car accidents, house fires, and by suicide, Ten feels that the witches’ suspicions, are just that: suspicions. His sixth sense is not giving him any clues that these are anything but untimely and tragic deaths.
When another witch dies mysteriously, Ronan turns up the heat on the Salem Police Department to investigate and finds himself in an unusual position: in hot water with Fitzgibbon and his husband. Suspended from the Boston Police Department and abandoned by his family and friends, Ronan goes rogue, conducting the investigation on his own.
Uncovering an insidious plot with roots reaching back to the Salem Witch Trials, Ronan must battle a force so evil, it has managed to stay hidden for centuries. Without the power of his badge or the backing of Tennyson, does Ronan have the strength to survive something that hunts in the dead of night?
Sick of the slogging rat-race of her 9-5 job, Pandora Pine put pen to paper (literally!) to make her ambition of becoming a romance novelist a reality. She cut her teeth in the dog-eat-dog world of fanfiction, still dreaming of the day when she would be a published author. She lives in Massachusetts with her blabbermouth muse who’ s a fan of middle of the night plot twists.
In her spare time, Pandora fancies herself an amateur nature photographer. She enjoys mucking around in swamps, hiking through the woods and crawling around on her hands and knees in her backyard seeking out the perfect shot. Pandora is a fan of roadside seafood shacks and always thinks Mexican food is a good idea at the time.
Some of Pandora’s favorite things are chocolate, writing longhand with purple pens and handsome men falling in love with each other.
Don't miss Pandora’s seductive new novel coming soon to an e-reader near you.
I don't know how to feel about this one. It very much felt like Ronan and Ten had switched characters for this one. I'm leaving it with four stars for now but might as well change it to three stars.
So this was book 8 in a series, that in my opinion just keeps getting better and better. I live how Ronan and Ten aren't always a perfect couple. I love their group of friends and how close everybody is. This book deals with Ronan trying to help a local group of Salem witches and for the first time Ten is unable to help because somebody has put on a blocking spell. Local witches are being killed and local law enforcement doesnt believe they are not accidents so Ronan is on his own. I dont know what to say except I am not ready for this to end. I want to see Ten and Ronan with Everly once she is an actual person.
♥.•🌟¨)☆♡¸.•🌟´¨)☆♡¸.•♥🌟´¨)☆♡♥ ♡🌟(¸.•♥´🌟"Whatever is going on is being done intentionally to keep us out." ~Ten
In the dead of the night, in the race for their lives, Ronan and Tennyson meet a force that has Ro regressing into past lives and trying to figure out a way to save the lives of Salem's witches.
In her ever so subtle way, author Pandora Pine embarks on twists and turns to keep the reader even more invested and interested, while delving more into the men's lives as husbands. We get to enjoy the pain, the horrific and the laughter..."Don't tell me your pissed that Hunter doesn't want to boldly go where every man has gone before?" Ronan smirked...
Ten was so close to having everything he'd ever dreamed of, and now it seemed all that they’d worked so hard to build together hung in the balance.
With the help of family and friends, there was much that was needed to solve this issue, as whatever is going on is being met with a impenetrable force. Journey through the past and present as Ronan fights to become the hero everyone needs him to be.
And there is nothing sweeter than the introduction of new cast members whom you KNOW will one day play an important part in this world. I keep mentioning, with the imagination of this author, this series can be never ending. Ever story seems fresh and though the main characters tell the tale, a reader can basically jump in at any book because refreshers are in place. For me, I would encourage newbies to start at the beginning to get a better understanding and enjoyment.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
4 Stars overall. I LOVED the plot. The author is opening up her universe to new ideas and... other things. This book introduces the element of past lives. It seems Ronan & Tennyson have been fated together through MANY past lives together, with Ten being executed over and over again by the insidious Gideon Black. (His history was first introduced in Beyond the Grave [Cold Case Psychic Spin Off #1]. To some extent, this book is a continuation of the that story, so you would do well to read it first. Here, the reincarnation of Black is picking off members the Wiccan community of Salem one by one, and making them all look like accidents. Ronan is on the case, but Ten and Kevin are NOT on board. THIS, in a nutshell is what irked me about the book. Ten & Kevin’s reactions were SO contrary to the previous books, it was getting annoyed. Ms. Pine tries to give us a rationale for this behavior, but I never bought it. That being said, the over all plot is worth the time invested. Plus she introduces to the universe. Now I’m guessing Jude actually IS The Cold Case Psychic Universe just got a little bit bigger. I’m reading CCP and the auxiliary series in order. I’m now about to embark on a string of shorts that elaborate on these new revelations. Looking forward to it/them.
ETA: I rounded back down (from 4.05 t0 4.0) after reading the next book, because one of the most glaringly unanswered questions was not even mentioned in the next book with Luca and Cisco. I want to know why Cisco and Kevin dismissed out-of-hand the evidence that Ronan, Greeley, Hunter ,and Tobin brought to them. It makes no sense. and while not quite a plot hole, seems to be a convenient action to keep the drama boiling.
This series gets better with each book, which is hard to believe sometimes since I have loved every one of them. Dead of Night finds our token psychic Tennyson and my man - er, I mean his man - Ronan trying to save Salem's witches from what seems like a vicious, murdering, evil.. well, something or other. But things are never simple for this couple and their family and friends, and this situation is no different. Tension builds between Ronan and Ten, and had my stomach in knots at times. And when Ronan winds up realizing he might be on his own for this one, he goes rogue. I can't blame him.. if I was him, I probably would have too.
Side note for a moment here: I have to admit something that may be considered blasphemy for fellow fans of this series, but Ten makes me kind of crazy sometimes. I love his character, but sometimes I really want to throttle him. I know everyone thinks Ronan is the stubborn one, but to be honest, I think Ten might be worse. Every book, there are moments where I find myself wanting to yell at him to stop being so judgmental towards Ronan as he isn't such a saint himself. I know, I know.. I'm sorry!! I can't help my feelings! But Ronan is my man, and I can't help but feel protective towards him when he winds up feeling like he is on his own, like he does in this book. But even when I want to shake Ten, it is a reminder of how wonderful Pandora Pine is as a writer, because her characters are realistically flawed and layered and have so much depth that they cause feelings and reactions that strong in me as I read her stories.
Don't worry though, this couple has such a strong, soul-deep bond that they are never at odds for long, thank goodness. That said, though, this book was intense at times, in all the ways. I loved the history tied in with the background of the Salem witches.. a LOT. The danger felt real and urgent and the mystery had me completely enthralled. The sense of family and camaraderie between all of these characters remains one of my favorite components of this series, and we get the whole gang working together (well, for the most part) again here. I said it with the review for the book before this one, but I have to say it again - I love Jude. He is right up there with Ronan for me. We are starting to learn a little more about him here and I cannot WAIT for his story. I also can't wait for Kevin and Jace. And I seem to always want more Greeley too - I love his character.
The Cold Case Psychic series may be eight books in with this release, but it in NO way feels stagnant, guys. The stories are still fresh and exciting and compelling, and I am very much looking forward to what Pandora Pine has in store for Ronan, Ten, and their friends in the future. Is it time for the next one yet?!
perfect.. so much perfect.. it was amazing.. and in some spots i just wanted to scream.. infact i think i might have screamed lol.. this series gets better and better and better and omg this one had twists and turns like crazy.. i loved it so much!
I'm giving this 3 stars even though this series and in particular this book drives me crazy! Both MC's come off as super immature in this book. Ronan's behavior is par for the course in this series as he continues to lose his temper, through tantrums and say whatever he thinks without thought to the consequences. However, it was Tennyson who I really was disappointed and almost didn't like in this book. He talks a lot about being a team but when push comes to shove he isn't there for Ronan through most of this book. You would think someone who is used to not being believed by others wouldn't do the same thing to his husband and yet he does. Add to that his choice of "siding" with his future child over Ronan when the future child can't happen without him seemed ridiculous and very short sighted. I actually hadn't forgiven him by the end of this book as I think his change of heart came way too late in the book. Ronan and Tennyson's relationship is so all over the place with incredibly high highs and very low lows. It seems almost manic at times and the reactions seem OTT. I really hope that settles down in the next book which I will read even though I'm not sure I love the new direction.
The overall plot of this one definitely takes it into a fantasy world. We get past lives but not only that past lives that Ronan can actually interact with. We have a villain who's managed to remember all their past lives and continually "hunt" Tennyson and Ronan. Then at the end we throw in a gargoyle and a vampire. There is enough crazy in this world without adding that but hey I already spend a ton of time rolling my eyes in disbelief so why not add some truly fantasy characters.
For once Ronan did some actual investigative work since he couldn't just depend on Tenn's gift. However, the investigation seemed rushed and Ronan just happened to discover a lot of things through his dreams/nightmares. The final confrontation was a bit of let down as well since it was built up to be this big huge battle.
This series must have something going for it since I just keep reading it. Or maybe it's like reality tv - you don't really like it but you can't turn away - it's just so much drama and crazy it hooks you.
I struggled a bit with this book. I didn't realise the spin-offs would be as important to the story. I was saving them for later and now I don't know if I'll read one of them as I feel I know the story. The other part I struggled with is Fitz and Ten's POV. Their actions felt so out of character - I understand some of it in a small way but it felt like most of the book Ten was stuck in a loop. It just didn't feel resolved for me. I know what the author was trying to do but I just couldn't see Ten acting that way. Sorry Pandora. I think I got more frustrated with Ten than Ronan did!
That said, I loved the premise of the book and am excited for what might come next.
Past lives and enemies converge on the present and Ronan and Tennyson will have a foe to vanquish that has been following them through the centuries. This time a coven of witches is caught in the crosshairs and they seek out Ronan's help. But when his friends and loved ones seemingly abandon him when he needs them most, it might break not just his heart, but the thread that holds them all together.
Ronan's big mouth and fiery temper almost cost him everything in this one. But it's Tennyson that I'm the most disappointed in. His reaffirmation that they're a team over and over seems to fall by the wayside when he chooses their future child over his husband. Without said husband, that future won't happen so he has a whole lot of perspective shifting to do before he can get back into my good graces. I don't actually feel that he gets it together soon enough nor do I think he did enough groveling.
Everywhere you turn in this story it seems that what holds them all together is crumbling under the weight of a particularly powerful antagonist. I had huge suspicions about a certain character but was completely surprised that they weren't the villain at all, but a true ally. There was a very small suspicion about a random character but it seemed unlikely when I had my mind set on someone else. At many points I was wondering when Ronan and the other characters would get out of their own way to track down all the leads sufficiently and it felt like procedures and follow-through were both light on the ground. When everything finally fell into place it was a pretty good confrontation. There were some predictable elements but also some surprises as well as new characters that I'm very much interested in.
Now a word of caution... The new characters take this into the realm of fantasy and while I'm okay with that development in general, I don't know that it's really the right direction for the series and I'm pretty sure a bunch of people won't like the changes. I'm withholding my final judgment on that until after I read Dead Man Walking. I've read the novellas in conjunction with those new characters and I have to say that I like the men individually and am totally fine with the fantasy element but, again, keep those things in mind when they're introduced here in Dead of Night.
While I like certain elements of "real life" regarding Ronan and Tennyson's relationship, I would rather that they weren't so huge that they go from immense happiness and fortitude to almost completely losing one another. Their relationship roller coaster goes through manic and depressive episodes that refuses to find a balance. With that kind of drama competing with the supernatural drama that carries the series I feel like I'm being tossed all over the place, and not in a good way. I'm hoping that with Dead Man Walking we get something a bit more settled on the home front so Ronan can deal with the threat against him as well as his estranged best friend.
So many issues with this one. First there was a huge amount of references to a story outside of this series. Apparently there is a “spinoff”, with just as much “off” as “spin”. So there’s a couple other books that are intended to be read in between book seven and eight. Not sure how this was communicated but I missed it. Really took away from the story. Second, everybody’s behavior was completely antithesis to theirs in every other book in the series. Writing inconsistency is one thing, but this seemed more like rewriting a character to fit the situation. It felt like very sloppy writing to me. There’s no way Ten & Kevin wouldn’t have been on the same bandwagon as Ronan with all the witches dying. And while Ronan’s behavior was much more over the top than normal it felt appropriate considering how everyone else was acting.
Having the witches go to Ronan for help doesn’t make much sense either. This entire plot made no sense to me. This was very close to a DNF for me.
Yet again, Wow! This didn't take long to become one of my favourite series and it's staying right up there every time a new book comes out. More from Tennyson and Ronan is always welcome! Ronan finds himself fighting against nearly everyone in his life, even his husband, when it comes to a new case of members of the local Wiccan community being killed of in seemingly random or natural deaths. This book saw some characters becoming more involved in the Cold Case Psychic world and helping Ronan on his way. Ten is focused on the family future that they've planned and doesn't want anything to ruin it but Ronan isn't helping himself by annoying his boss and causing tension with his friends and other law enforcement officials. The history that comes up in this and Spellbound is amazing to read and creates even more interest in the book with mystery, intrigue, action, family drama......it's all going on. As is the same with all of the previous books, it's an engaging story line, just wanting to know more the whole way through though I did find myself annoyed at Ten sometimes. He's being very stubborn in this one. The pacing works well throughout and keeps us entertained with everything going on. There's no point where I feel like I'm hanging around waiting on something. I would recommend reading this series in order for all characters and connections to make sense, as well as reading SpellBound, a recent release and part of the Cold Case Psychic world. I cannot recommend this book and series enough! I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Pandora Pine had added another fabulous story to the Cold Case Psychic series. Full of romance, suspense, mystery, family shenanigans, and humor, this story is a delight to read and has your sitting on the edge of your seat. This is already book #8 in the series, but it hasn’t lost anything of its shine and luster. Every time I think I have read the best book, this author comes with another brilliant story. Ronan and Tennyson are dead set to save the lives of the witches of Salem, but in the end, it is not only those lives they have to save. Now the focus is on Ronan as his past comes haunting him in the present when he least expects it, and it hits Ronan and Tennyson hard on a personal level. Very personal. That makes it even more nail-biting and heart-pounding thrilling as the last books. I feel so connected to Ronan and Tennyson, and the entire family for that matter, that I could hardly stand the tension. The author throws in red herrings left and right, and unexpected twists are lurking in every corner. Again the entire family is involved in solving the mystery, and we are introduced to some new, intriguing characters, who I can’t wait to read more about. A little bit of the veil of my bestie, Jude’s, secrets is lifted, but not nearly enough. He is as snarky as ever but with hints of vulnerability, and amidst the dire situations and making serious plans, his dry wit had me snorting with laughter. This is the eighth installment of the Cold Case Psychic series. As there are recurring characters and a continuing story arc, the books should be read in order.
Really loved the premise of this story...past lives, soul mates etc. And as usual the writing is crisp and tugs on all the emotions. We meet a few new interesting characters and all the familiar characters are back. Therein lies the problem for me. It nagged at me through most of the book...the lack of support (in fact down right hostility) that Ronan gets from Tennyson and Fitzgibbon...something totally contrary to what has been established throughout all the previous books. I’m guessing the author found it a device necessary to advancing the storyline but it didn’t work for me. I guess that’s actually a tribute to the author...I’m so invested in these characters I feel I know them! I kind of see where the author was going with Tennyson’s concerns though I found them hysterical and overblown (and I loved how Bertha kept taking him to task for his behavior!) but there was really no basis for Fitzgibbon to behave the way he did.
Having said all that I did really enjoy the plot and the story and the new, intriguing information we got. I just couldn’t fully fall into the story as I usually do with Pine’s work, because of the disconnect between what I know about these characters and their behavior here. Also couldn’t figure out why Cole seemed to be MIA here. I still highly recommend the book, and it may not strike you the way it did me...I may be overreacting but couldn’t ignore what kept popping into my brain!
Epic series with a couple spin-offs series - here is the reading order for the first 34 books/novellas! Love them all - the MC's and their stories. Fun, entertaining, intriguing and sexy!

After a particularly disturbing dream, the last people Ronan O'Mara expects to find on his doorstep are members of Salem’s Wiccan community. They needs his, not Tennyson's help. Someone is picking them off one by one in a modern-day witch hunt. And worse nobody can contact their spirits. Could this have something to do with his very real dream?
In a role reversal it is Psychic, Tennyson Grimm who is skeptical of the witches’ claims. All the deaths appear "ordinary" with no signs of foul play. Ronan does not believe in coincidence and when another witch dies and someone he cares about is injured he refuses to let the matter drop. Bringing him into conflict with not only his husband but Fitz and the Chief of Police.
Feeling abandoned Ronan goes rogue with witch hating Jude and Greeley as backup. What they learn in the course of his investigation changes everything. Now no matter what the cost, his job, his friends, his marriage, even his life, he will see this through to the "Final Battle".
Pandora has written an excellent plot woven around the happenings of the Salem Witch Trial. Without going into spoilers, Ronan receives help at the end from two soon to be friends with secrets of their own. Another great Free Kindle Unlimited book in the series.
This is another amazing book from one of my favorite authors! It is beautifully written, full of action and suspense, has many surprising twists and turns, an intriguing storyline and incredible characters. I could not put this book down and I love how many emotions I felt while reading it. When a book has me laughing, crying and on the edge of my seat I know it is a great one. I always love Ten but in this book Ronan takes centre stage and has to try to solve multiple murders without his usual back-up. As he battles everyone trying to get them to see what he does we meet several new and interesting characters that I look forward to seeing as the series continues. I love that Ronan is so open and accepting of the gifts his friends have that he allows Madam Aurora to help him interpret his dreams. They seem to be a portent of the evil that is killing the local witches and is after Ronan and Ten in the past and the present. There is so much packed into this story and the ending is great. As always the banter between everyone is excellent and the tension between Ronan and all of the other characters adds a nice edge to the story. I can't wait to read the next book in this engaging series.
This book was a really interesting addition to the series, partly because Ten's psychic abilities were blocked from helping with the latest case. Ronan was forced to experience horrific moments from past lives, which nobody should have to see. This only made him more determined to try to save the women who were asking for his help. Ten and Kevin, who usually support Ronan through everything, were both angry with him instead. It was great to see who did stand beside Ronan when things were hard. I love this series, and I didn't hate seeing Tennyson being less than perfect here. That just gave Ronan a chance to show what an awesome guy he is on his own, even without his psychic husband helping him out. And seeing more of Jude and Greeley, along with the rest of the gang, made me happy. I can't get enough of these characters!
This is the eighth book in The Cold Case Psychic Series. A spellbinding book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters captivating. The characters were developed and thought out. Detective Ronan O’Mara and Psychic Tennyson Grimm are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, witches, murder, spirits, sex, friends and family, mystery, surprises, going rouge and so much more in this book.
Here is a quote from the book, “So, I’m not too ugly to live or to get me some?” Ronan asked, sounding hopeful. Ten raised an eyebrow. “If Michelangelo were alive today, he would have chosen you as his model for David. Happy? Can we talk now?”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can highly recommend. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
Here we are at book 8 and I still love this series as much as I did when I finished book 1. Pandora if you’re reading this – please never stop writing about Ronan and Tennyson! I digress, this was another fantastic addition to the Cold Case Psychic series. I love coming back to this series to see what the gang has all been up to, it’s like catching up with old friends! We met some new characters in this book and I am glad to see that some of them will be getting their own novellas coming up – I really love this world that the author has created! I really liked the change in dynamic of Tennyson and Ronan’s working relationship in this book, it was a chance of pace and kept me on my toes. This was a great read, and I’ve already pre-ordered book 9!
I’m not sure how I feel about this one. Positives. It’s Ten and Ronan, the entire gang is here, the cast has its increase of new characters (we could end up with a cast of thousands, if they stop getting killed off!) There is plenty of action, of the Psychic variety and the physical variety. The culmination, the big show down was good and for any that haven’t found them yet, the spin off series is an absolute must read. Negatives. We are on book 8, Ronan has gone from sceptic to full on believer and supporter. Ten appears to have regressed in this book and become full on Whiney bitch. After everything the group as a whole have been through Ten and Fitzgibbon just annoyed me! Thank heavens for Greeley and Jude. Generally I didn’t enjoy this quite as much as the others, still good though.
I love this series. Ronan is waking from nightmares involving him and Tennyson going through time. Each time Ronan is forced to witness Tennyson's execution of burning at the stake. The witches of Salem have come to Ronan for help, stating they are being killed off. When all records and reports do not show any foul play, and it just seems to be unfortunate coincidence. Tennyson, Carson, and Cole also can't sense or reach any of the dead witches. They are suddenly blocked. When Ronan is determined to follow the investigation, Tennyson becomes frustrated. He wants Ronan to focus on starting their family, not chasing down killers when it may not be murder, especially at the cost of his job. Things are excalating on all levels, will the help of new and old friends will they solve the case and save themselves in the process.
Someone is hunting down the witch population of Salem, and Ronin and Tennyson are asked to help. Ronin is dreaming of past lives, and the spirits aren't talking about what's happening to the dead witches. The gang is going to have to get help from more friends to save the day this time.
Another amazing story, Dead of Night is book eight of the Cold Case Psychic series by Pandora Pine. More sexy scenes, sweet moments and hilarious comments fill the pages, along with an intriguing mystery to puzzle out. We get to see more SUPERNATURAL beings and the universe created in this series just got a lot more interesting.. I need more books!
I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and voluntarily am leaving my honest review and recommendation.
I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion. Well, this series has certainly turned back up to a 5 star rating I just loved it. This story played on my emotions where I was just so eager to find out what happens now. Ronan decides to stick his nose into murders/accidentals deaths of the wiccan community but having had a nightmare of the Salem witch trails and getting said nose in hot water with fitzgibbon, his family and the local police force he decides to investigate on his own. This book had intrigue, drama, action and suspense with a helping of history to keep it sinister. I enjoy reading about Ronan, Tenn and the gang and am looking forward to getting the other characters stories as well as our dynamic criminal fighting duo.
Tenn and Ro face their one of their biggest challenge yet
3.5 stars!
This is book 8 in the cold case psychic series. It was pretty good. It was darker than many of the others and filled with trials for Ro and Tenn.
I hated everyone being against Ro. I'm still not sure where the captain was coming from with all his negativity. I'm also not sure why Tenn was such a jerk in this book but I did like that it was so gritty and dark. It was also really out there with the paranormal element which was intense and scary, which made it a real page turner. The ending felt more like luck than planning and preparing but I guess I'm ok with luck being the hero today.
Overall, another good edition to this series! Up next spinoff novella #3!
Well, wow. If you’ve been reading the series, book 8 is a game changer for the Pandora-verse. There’s a lot more to it than true psychics and ghosts. The world has expanded to include other, mysterious creatures as well.
The story is fun but odd, and it knows it, because more than once Tennyson and Fitzgibbon are asked, or wonder themselves, why they’re so reluctant and contrary about helping out the local witches, who are rapidly “accidentally” dying. They are a bit OOC (out of character) with a LOT of yelling going on between the men in the story. —it’s like they have three main emotions - anger (yelling), fear (yelling) and love (not yelling).
Sorry but this wasn't my favourite book of the series. It wasn't that Ronan and Ten were at logger heads for most of the book, it was like they had switched roles, empathy and I found Ten to be a little bit too whiny throughout, and not supportive even though only a book earlier he kept going on about how much Ronan supported and believed in him, but when the shoe was on the other foot and Ronan needed his support it was in very short supply. However the writing was fluid and we met yet more people from the wonderfully rich Salem world who will be making more appearances in upcoming books, hopefully now that little miss has been created Ten will stop being a whiny b**** or else I hope Bertha says something to help. I found it interesting but not a fave.
Wow, this one had me on the edge of my seat. With a fantastic plot filled with twists and turns, I think this was the best in the series. I have to say though, what the heck was up with Ten and Kevin? I’m not sure I forgive them yet. Ronan just took my breath away with his dedication to finding the killer, his devotion to Ten, and his grief over the lost witches. He’s grown so much in the last year and a half. Ten and Kevin, however, appeared to be taken over by pod people, lol. Just kidding. Maybe! There is nothing better than a book that makes you feel such intense emotions. I laughed, I yelled, I got teary. I’d give it ten stars if I could.
