Maid of honor Quinn Evans has been dreading this wedding weekend. All because of her awful ex-boyfriend. When Wilder, the best man, suggests they fake a fling for the weekend, she refuses. She doesn’t need to showcase exactly her awkward she is by pretending to date a player like him. Even if he is a successful, wealthy businessman.
Wilder Caine has a reputation of living up to his name. He likes women and isn’t ashamed of it. He has enough family responsibility to deal with for his brother’s wedding. He doesn’t need more drama. But there’s something about Quinn that he can’t walk away from.
When their pretend kisses start to feel all too real, will Wilder cut and run? Or will Quinn keep her Someone Borrowed?
Jilted in Sawyer Creek: Four couples. One crazy wedding weekend.
Lacy Williams wishes her writing career was more like what you see on Hallmark movies: dreamy brainstorming from a French chateau or a few minutes at the computer in a million-dollar New York City penthouse. In reality, she’s up before the sun, putting words on the page before her kids wake up for the day. Those early-morning and late-night writing sessions add up, and Lacy has published fifty books in almost a decade, first with a big five publisher and then as an indie author. When she needs to refill the well, you can find Lacy birdwatching, gardening, biking with the kiddos, or walking the dog. Another fun novella in the Jilted in Sawyer Creek series. I really like how these three stories all overlap each other and are the stories of the interconnected people from the beginning tale. I liked the characters of Quinn and Wilder a lot. I grew more impressed with each of them, the various burdens they had each carried in their lives so far, and especially the way Wilder treated Quinn. Very nice story!
This is the third novella in the “Jilted in Sawyer Creek” series. In my opinion, this one is just as wonderful as Book #2, “Someone New”. It has low level of angst and occasional humor. From the first page, I immediately connected with Quinn and Wilder. The characters spoke to me. This short romance feels completely realistic to me, and it feels complete even though it was a short read. Quinn is a young woman in her mid 20’s who battles rheumatoid arthritis and social anxiety while having a successful career as a therapist-style radio host. Wilder has a big heart and a successful moving business, but he hides his own problems behind a flirty exterior. They meet at a wedding weekend and commence a dating relationship to keep Quinn's despicable ex-boyfriend from bothering her. I love how Quinn and Wilder could see past each other’s facades to the vulnerable, complicated people beneath.
It can be read as a standalone. This novella can be classified as contemporary small town romance and clean/sweet romance (just kissing). In this case, the authors made the lack of sex realistic by having both Quinn and Wilder not be virgins and make the novella only just cover the early part of their relationship. I do not remember any mentions of Christianity and faith in this third book of the trilogy. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a high quality, short, sweet, contemporary romance.
I received a free advanced reading copy from one of the authors, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
**6 5 stars I purchased a copy of the clean novella Someone Borrowed: Jilted in Sawyer Creek: Quinn and Wilder by Lacy Williams and this review was given freely. Short, emotion packed with a fair amount of conflict but ultimately satisfying. Starting with their awkward first meeting at Claire and Nicholas's engagement party six months prior that brought out moving company owner and affirmed playboy Wilder Caine's protective instincts for Austin radio host Quinn, this is an attraction at first sight story where the couple learn to trust each other revealing the loving and vulnerable people they have been hiding behind facades. Contains the poignant themes of childhood cancer, living with RA flares, and the emotional/financial struggles of a teen trying to provide for his family. ut growing feelings for Special Ed teacher Jessica Sadler challenge his resolve to go.
I borrowed Someone Borrowed: Sawyer Creek ~ Hometown Sweethearts ~ Book 16 from the Kindle Unlimited Lending program.
Quinn Evans is in Sawyer Creek as the maid of honor for her best friend. Her ex-boyfriend is one of the groomsmen and she isn't looking forward to the weekend of wedding celebrations. Wilder, the best man and brother of the groom offers to step in as her new boyfriend. What neither Quinn or Wilder expects is to fall for each other. He supports her, gives her confidence and shows her she is of value and he is shocked to realize that he finds her irresistible and they start falling for each other in this sweet romance.
Been enjoying this series, and your heart goes out to these people, who pick the wrong one for them, the first time. Here we have Quinn’s ex made her feel like a loser. Now a wedding to get through, and the best man, whose kisses sure didn’t seem fake, when he suggest a fake fling. Would she even try, after all he is rich, known as a playboy Given ARC. for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
Quinn and Wilder pretend to be dating for the weekend. Wilder’s brother is supposed to be getting married to Claire during this time. Quinn and Claire are best friends so Quinn has the duties and responsibilities of making sure everything is perfect for her friend. Quinn’s ex-boyfriend is a jerk and will be at the wedding. (Hence the pretend date weekend). …
I was really intrigued by Quinn and Wilder's connection in Someone Old. Quinn's ex was a loser and made her feel like one. Wilder comes to her rescue but will he win her over? It amazes me how our past often keeps us from moving on or even really living in the present. This is one sweet romance that made me want to keep reading - just couldn't put it down.
Someone Borrowed is the third book in the Jilted in Sawyer Creek series. Quin and Wilder are my favorite couple from the series. I love when all of the characters overlap in the series. Quin and Wilder are great characters and have a complex and believable relationship. I enjoyed this book as well as the series. I recommend this book.
I very definitely enjoyed this book. It is such a sweet romance. The story line is great and the characters are delightful. I would recommend reading this book to anyone.
Wilder is so sweet and attentive. He's not at all like he tries to make people think. Quinn is sweet and lacks self confidence. Wilder treats her as she should be treated and gives her back her confidence. Cute story. It fits in this series.
Wilder steps in to help Quinn avoid her ex but what he didn't expect were the feelings he started to feel but is he willing to open his heart? Quinn also has issues opening up her heart. Her past experiences have let her to think less of herself. Will Wilder's attention finally make her see herself in a new light and find her happily ever after?
