Mysterious. Anonymous. Genius. No one knows the identity of the famous urban artist known only as Tag, and that’s just the way Tag likes it. He got his start in one of the most gang-ridden neighborhoods in Chicago by anonymously tagging his world with beautiful graffiti, and that anonymity kept him alive. Sure, Tag’s work is now so hot it’s being turned into tattoos at the greatest tattoo studio in the world, House of Payne, but he’s still not going to reveal himself. To anyone. Volatile. Passionate. Brilliant. Artist Ivy Gemelli is the last of her family. Mother—dead. Father—shot in his cab for fifty bucks. Uncle and brother—murdered in the family’s auto paint shop, which was then burned down to the ground. She’s the last one standing in a never-ending struggle to just freaking survive, and it’s made her tougher than nails. That’s why, when she sees her own art show up in Tag’s designs, she’s more than ready to go to war. Hot. Powerful. Irresistible. Tag wasn’t looking for a sexy complication like Ivy, but that’s exactly what he’s got. Her murdered brother’s long-ago lie brought them together, but now that Tag’s got Ivy in his sights, he’s not about to let her go. Ivy is all fire and fury, and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep this sex-on-stilettos woman with him, even if he has to keep her in the dark about his past. ***This standalone, hot contemporary romance contains a strong alpha male, mention of the sexual practice of edging, and a spank or two (or three). There are multiple, explicit sex scenes (you have been warned). No cheating, no love triangles, no cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed. This book is not intended for readers under the age of 18*** 99,000 words
This is my second reading foray into the House of Payne series. All of these stories are built around people associated with this legendary, world renowned tattoo studio. Only the best are invited to work there and there are some very talented artists who they buy designs from. Tag is one of those.
Tag prefers to fly under the public radar. His work is very well known throughout the city and people pay big dollars for his artwork, whether it be in paint or on their skin. Part of the mystery of Tag is that he is anonymous to his fans. Very few people have ever met him or seen him in person.
At a launch of Tag’s new exclusive designs for the House of Payne, the party gets gate crashed by an very cute but angry, feisty woman. She is making an public accusation that could potentially damage not just his career but the House of Payne’s reputation. This is a complete PR nightmare and Tag is furious.
Tag noticed Ivy as soon as she walked into the building. However, her stunt completely blind sided him. Her accusations are crazy and he needs her to explain herself so she can fix all the trouble she has caused. Still reeling from her very public outburst, Ivy is shocked when she is confronted by the huge hulk of a man, Tag. She is adamant that he is guilty of stealing from her and he needs to acknowledge that.
After some stubborn and angry discussions they realise that they have a very personal connection. One that explains the misunderstanding Ivy is accusing him of and now she needs to make things right. In doing so they discover that they have so much in common, it's like they have lived parallel lives. They have a shared passion for art and they are very talented artists.
'You know what it's like to be alone in the world, and so do I, so neither one of us takes what we have for granted.'
Tag is a 'get down to business' sort of man and he makes it very clear that he wants Ivy. She has never met a man like this before. He doesn't ask for anything, he just makes a decision and takes what he needs. Ivy has completely bewitched him and he has no intention of ever letting her go. However, he knows more about her past than he is prepared to share with her, the truth will do nothing but cause her pain. The problem with secrets is that they eventually emerge and when they do will Ivy be able to see that everything Tag does is with her at the forefront of his mind.
'I'm your future, Ivy Gemelli. I've known that from the moment you ripped off your shirt in public and basically told the world to go to hell. You were all fire and flame, and I couldn't wait to be burned by you.'
Another great read in this series with this passionate, wonderfully matched couple.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book.
It’s time to go back to my favorite Chicago Tatttoo shop House of Payne!! Boy does Gail start this one off with a bang!! Ivy isn’t about to let anyone steal her unique artist signature and she doesn’t care how famous he is. Ivy is awesome!!! She is a stuff as nails girls from a rough part of Chicago and has lead a rough life. The one thing that has been there for her is her art, the thing that she has had all her life. She might be small but she is mighty and takes no crap off anyone!! Tag is a internationally known artist, will known as everyone knows the name and art, but no one knows who the mysterious artist actually is. I love how Ivy and Tag are introduced!! Talk about bearing it all for your art, lol. She’s so talented and feisty I want to be her when I grow up. I also love how when she learns the truth about something she owns up to her mistakes. Tag, well I must say I must say he is no Max, however he ain’t half bad. While he is a artist that creates tattoo designs for the House he isn’t a tattooist. He always goes after what he wants and after seeing Ivy he wants her. While the way these two get together is not your average meeting, it certainly is fitting for two unique artist to come together in their own unique way. No one else can say that they met the way they did. The way the get to see where both Tag and Ivy came from and what they made of themselves is awesome. It just shows you that you can be more than your surroundings. I have never been to Chicago but Gail has a way of making me feel like I am there each and every time I read one of her House of Payne books and a way to make you feel like you are a part of the family that is the House of Payne. I can’t wait to find out more about the new characters that have been introduced and see our old friends again in the next book!!
House of Payne: Tag by Stacy Gail might only be my second book by this author (and the second I've read in this series), but she has officially gained a big fan. Her books are addictive. I've already gone out and bought every other book prior to this in the series that I haven't already read just so I can start over and catch up.
What I loved about this story was the characters. They weren't perfect and they made mistakes. In fact a mistake is what brings Tag and Ivy together in the first place. But they're good people and talented artists and they've overcome a lot to get to where they are. It made for a highly entertaining and just overall fantastic read as these two characters came together. I laughed over they're feisty and often very steamy banter. I got emotional as their backgrounds came to light. And I swooned over all the ways Tag showed Ivy what she meant to him. It was all just so great.
I highly recommend this story. It was easily read and enjoyed as a standalone though part of the House of Payne series. I plan to go back and read the previous books I've missed while I wait for the next one to release. I hope Stacy Gail can keep this series going and keep it this awesome for a long time to come.
Shivers right? This is what Tag is all about, no pretense, no subterfuge, nothing hidden. If Tag or Ivy think something, they say it. If they feel something, they express it. If they are mad about something, they let loose!
Both Tag and Ivy have had rough lives. There was nothing easy about it, in different ways, for either of them. But what they both came out of it with was an understanding of what they didn't want. What they wanted to fight for, and how to fight for it. How to keep going when it seems hopeless, when others quit, when you just need to get through the moment
They fit, and they don't fit the fitting. Things are volatile between them, but they also calm each other in ways others never can. They are the other half, and they fight for each other, and what they have
I loved this book so much, it has left me an emotional mess, but in such a good way!
Loved this newest installment in The House of Payne series! Tag could be a perfect alpha: bossy, protective, yet super sweet. I loved how quick he was to pursue Ivy and make her his own. And Ivy was such a badass heroine! That girl stood up for what she believed, fought for what she wanted, and was utterly adorable. Together these two were magic. I loved their connection, chemistry, and relationship. Another winner! I can't wait for more. I adore this series!
Love, love, love!!!! OMG Tag will make you beg for more while Ivy will make you want to stand up and yell “you go sista!” These two traveled a tough road to find each other and big was it worth it! I think this is the best story of the House of Payne series yet!
This was a new-to-me author and I absolutely loved her writing style!
"She was hell on wheels, no doubt about it. And when she wasn't spitting grade-A venom at him, she was the kind of woman who could stop traffic without even trying."
Ivy Gemelli came barrelling into Tag's life with a rip-roaring bang! In a handful of days, with his reputation on the line, he has shrugged off his cloak of anonymity, and has challenged her to a contest of artistic talent.
"The man known to her only as Tag had knocked her senseless, first with his words, and then with his unexpected touch."
From the moment Tag laid eyes on Ivy, he wanted her with such a powerful force. When he delves deeper into Ivy's life and character, he finds himself unable to resist her. The angry spark between them bursts into an incandescent passion that's addictive and all-consuming. However, their less than stellar pasts have a way of coming back to haunt them.
"Every time you mouth off, you challenge me to do something about it, because deep down you want me to do something about it. So fine. Challenge accepted."
Gah! I loved this story! Ivy and Tag were made for each other. They were matched in brilliant talent, fiery temperament and charismatic energy. Once they'd cleared the air between them, I loved that Tag went to bat for her. He clearly laid claim to her early on and I just adored how quickly he became invested in her, her happiness, her art, and her wellbeing. He was SUCH an alpha! She challenged him in every way and he just seemed so in awe of her.
"When you're looking at me with those all-consuming eyes of yours, it's hard to remember that there's even a world, much less other people in it."
By the same token, Ivy was hooked on Tag just as much. I loved how smitten she was with him and was willing to explore beyond her vanilla sexuality with him. She was such a little spitfire - I loved her spirit and independence. I liked that she was a hothead but she was also reasonable enough to recognise when she was in the wrong.
Overall, this was a such a fab, HAWT, super romantic story. I loved it and I'll definitely be reading more of this author's works.
House of Payne: Tag by Stacy Gail is truly a provocative , raw and creative story by this author. Her books are quite the addictive stuff. Both Tag and Ivy have had some tough times in their lives. Times were difficult for them, in different ways, which forced them to grow up quicker and with harder shells. What they both came out of it with was an understanding of what they knew they didn't want to have in their lives . What they knew they wanted desperately was to keep fighting for what they knew they each needed in their lives. Yet how did they keep going when at times, it all seems so hopeless; others quit, yet it was amazing to read how Tag and Ivy push thru the rough and difficult times to get through the moments of sorrow and pain. In fact, these two werent perfect perfection and didn't allow their imperfections derail them being; thats how Tag and Ivy met-these are two awesomely good people and OMG are they talented artists. We learn in the story that they overcame a lot to get to where they now at. I dont want to give away spoilers but what i will say there are emotions that have you on your edge of your seat , dying to know how everything happens. There is drama, angst, joy, laughter, passion , steamy heat, and beautiful romance which makes for a sensational , engaging and phenomenal read as these two main characters came brilliantly together. I found myself totally enjoying they way they were bantering back and forth;it often got extremely hot. I will say keep tissues on hand as emotions will come into play. What a beautiful and intense romantic read.
The House of Payne artists never disappoint. They're volatile. They're passionate. They love loud and hard. Yessssss. Even when I'm battling the plague, they're a treat.
This time around, we have Tag and Ivy. He's the mysterious street artist who keeps his identity a secret. She's a firecracker who confronts things head-on. Together, they're combustible. Seriously. The two verbally go at it like it's going out of style at first and even that's hot. Then Tag sets his mind on convincing Ivy they need to be together and things get even hotter.
Did I mention the hot? *fans self*
As always, the characters have the type of past that left them damaged, but doesn't shatter them. Instead, they're made stronger by what they've had to go through. I kinda love that. A lot. Especially when they're Stacy Gail's characters.
Speaking of characters, I pretty much adore when new characters see characters we've met before (let's take Payne, for example) and they have an ENTIRELY different take on them then we saw. Maybe it's just me. I mean, Payne has a flare for theatrics and he's confident to the extreme and it TOTALLY cracked me up that Ivy saw him as a circus barker. I mean, yeah. It fits. It just strikes me as funny. First impressions, y'all. They rock.
The House of Payne crew get bigger and better with every book and I can't wait to see what's in store for them next.
eThis is my first book in the House of Payne series - Not sure how I missed this series I am so glad it found me! TAG - "Godzilla destroyed things, whereas Tag does the complete opposite. He creates beauty, satire an vicious social commentary, with nothing more than his amazing talent and imagination" - Ivy OMG- I want a Tag of my own to love and hold. Tag is a successful artist he prides himself on his ability to speak out for those who he feels cannot speak for themselves via his artwork. He also enjoys the anonymity that he lives behind - until a feisty, and quite sexy mind you, little artist tears into his world claiming he is a fraud and worse a plagiarist -to top it off she has the proof tattooed on her chest - Now if that doesn't just make his day Ivy - "I'm thinking those diamonds we find in this world are special. So special we need to take care we don't ever lose them, and who knows? Maybe someday well be thought of as someone else's diamond. " - Ivy She was so easy to connect with - her world was one of so much pain and darkness - she had to fight to thrive, yet she gave off so much light. Though somewhere along the way her brain to mouth filter definitely took a hiatus -Lord have mercy this girl needs to use some duct tape - Just a little spitfire of a character- you can't help but love her The chemistry between these two is off the charts - I enjoyed that Ivy did not capitulate to Tag right away- she made him prove that she was his diamond that in his world there would never be anything more precious (well, almost anything - so not telling) The cast of Tag is well scripted - each of the characters plays so well off the other. They all came across as so real - it was like I was there with them. The storyline is detailed and flows seamlessly - easy to follow I found myself smiling laughing and even a few silent tears tacked my cheeks Just a great read! I definitely need to go back and start from the beginning. enticing journey provided my copy
Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Blog How the hell did I miss this series so far? I totally put the whole series on my virtual tbr pile after finishing this book. But, first things first… The review… House of Payne: Tag starts smack dab in the drama and I COMPLETELY fell in love with Yvi during the first few pages. Wow, what a woman! Headstrong, stubborn with a short fuse and so much temperament, it was awesome! I want her to be my new bestie. Tag himself was not my cup of tea at first. He was too much, too bossy, too commanding and not at all understanding for Yvi’s situation and problems. That changed through the book and while getting to know him, his character made sense in a way I did not imagine. The plot was easy to follow and was supported perfectly by the writing style. Each character had his or her own voice which made it easy to differentiate who was speaking what. The character development was great, with a lot of cursing and eye-opening insights in the past, present and the dreams of the future. My breaking scene was, when Yvi’s adopted family confronted her. I shed so many tears, I felt my heart breaking and cheered them on. She deserves the very best and her family life hasn’t been the best so far. I was so glad that she had Tag and was able to see a nice future for her. As you can see, my thoughts are still a bit all over the place from this book and I have trouble making clear sentences. It was only, because I really liked this book and am now eager to start anew and get to know all of the characters from the start. The House of Payne series is a series of standalones, so I was not put of by starting with the seventh book, but now I want them all, because this one was so good. Thanks for this story!
I'm going to just say it... I don't care if we have to read about Payne and Becks when they're 60 Stacy can never stop writing about these characters. Each book reminds me why I adore her writing and why House of Payne series is one of my more re read.
Tag is alpha in a way that we don't usually see. He's not demanding without explanation and his first thought is about his woman how he can make her life better, sweeter, sexier... *sigh*. Who wouldn't want someone who's willing to push their boundaries and protect them at the same time, allow them to spread their wings and grow? Because once Tag and Ivy get past their initial meeting that's exactly what he gives to her and in return Ivy, who is so strong and talented and just freaking awesome let's him. And that... That why their relationship works. The give and take is beautiful. Especially the give and truly neither really know this is exactly what they've wanted until they have each other.
And then you got the smoldering sex. Sweet Lord... If I had ovaries they'd have exploded repeatedly. I spent a lot of time gasping in awe and surprise at Tag and Ivy and their fun time antics.
All in all I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this. It's wonderful.
Oh my goodness! This author knows how to do sexual tension and delicious dirty talking. I love her characters! The beautiful strong heroines and the uber sexy alpha heroes. The creative artists in this story are no exception with the fierce fiery Ivy determined to protect herself and what's hers. When she thinks the successful urban graffiti artist, Tag, rips off her creation she goes after him and the House of Payne to expose the theft during a press event for Tag. I love her guerrilla tactic to expose them. Well, the artist and the House of Payne don't take it well and want Ivy to fix the mess that's affecting their reputations and businesses. What Ivy perceived as a theft turns out to be a misunderstanding and she agrees to reverse her claim. It was great the way Tag exposed himself to support Ivy. As the two artists get to know each other a mutual respect grows and their connection through art is wonderful. Of course, these two are wildly attracted to each other and Tag pushes things to the next level and Ivy is right there with him. Hot, steamy, sexy! This is my first story from the House of Payne and I can't wait to read the others. I loved this one with the talented sexy artists and their sizzling romance. Terrific writing and wonderful characters makes this a must read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
I've really come to love the House of Payne series, and the talented Stacy Gail has penned another highly addictive story that kept me in one position until every last word was devoured. Tag is another brilliant artist at the world famous tattoo studio, on top of his amazing graffiti throughout the city. He's one of those men who likes to fly under the radar, so when the feisty Ivy threatens to derail him at his launch at the House of Payne, he's ready to blow a gasket, especially since it could be a total PR nightmare as well as mess his career up. However, when he's confronting her accusations, he finds himself very attracted to her, so he decides that he's going to make her his. And Ivy is stunned as she's never dealt with a man like Tag, so all kinds of sparks start flying everywhere. Those sparks lead to super sexy times that sizzle like crazy. And as both are tortured soul artists with tons of talent, drama ensues as the push & pull was very frustrating. Of course there's a colorful cast of secondaries from previous books, and even some new ones who will have their own stories in the future, to add more depth, and even humor to the mix. Again I LOVE this series so much, so CANNOT WAIT for more in the near future. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was able to keep interested in the story. Read it in one sitting. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, steam, and deep heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Payne (House Of Payne #1) Scout (House Of Payne, #2) Twist (House Of Payne, #3) Rude (House Of Payne, #4) Steele (House Of Payne, #5) Max (House of Payne #6)
This is Ivy and Tag’s story. Tag is a famous urban artist that no one knows the identity of they just call him Tag. His work started out as graffiti and has moved on to tattoos. Ivy has lost everyone in her family. They all died and now she is alone. When she sees her art in someone else’s work she is livid. She has had to fight for everything and is willing to fight for her art. The chemistry is off the chart with these two but both of them have secrets. What happens when they thought they knew all and the secrets come spilling out? Will it be the end of them? Or will they be able to overcome the pain of the past to have something together in the future?
I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I am blown away by this author and her writing style. She creates a unique world and I feel like I am with the artists creating masterpieces in whichever medium they choose. This story about Tag and Ivy and what they ever come to be the artists that they are. Both are Chicago natives that are from a rough part of town, the streets are riddled with gang violence. While Tag overcomes his upbringing and perseveres, Ivy is still struggling to find her way. Tag has made a name for himself at the House of Payne and Ivy crashes his press conference claiming that he stole her tag. Payne has a genius idea that the two should battle creating original designs for the House and put it to a vote each week on who is the better artist. While battling they fall in love but it was not an easy road to get there especially since Ivy has such a big chip on her shoulder, despite their chemistry.
My only criticism of the book is Ivy’s overuse of the endearment honey. Overall I would highly recommend this book! I can’t wait to see what this author puts out next!!
I keep finding myself needing to go back to the beginning of series' when I pick up a book like this! I feel like sometime in the relatively recent past I read the first couple in this series - Tag is number 7 - because this world and the characters feel familiar. Regardless, Tag can be read as a standalone, and if you want to test one out that someone you trust has already read - go for it!
Tag is a mysterious, anonymous graffiti artist. Ivy is the last of her family, doing her art her way. They collide in a spectacular amount of drama and chemistry from the get go and it never lets up. They are fierce, and brutal and passionate in everything that they do, including romance and art!
This was an entertaining read with a number of unexpected twists. Definitely add it to your TBR!
This is the 7th book in this amazing series, and is Tag and Ivy’s turn. Tag is a mysterious street artist, and when Ivy confronts him at a show, she really puts the cat amongst the pigeons. I like how they were both quick to own up to mistakes in handling the situation. This is another fantastic novel in this series, which is well written, and I was totally intrigued and captivated throughout. I cannot wait to read more of this authors’ work, and highly recommend for all readers.
Another beautiful story from this series. Tag and Ivy, what a strong but lonely pair. You can't help but want a HEA for them. I love how the House is woven through each book in this series. Highly recommended! Ice is next!!!
This series is one of my favorites. I love ink and it drew me to it because of the storyline. Now I love it because of the characters that House Of Payne has developed. Ivy and Tag have to be some of the best yet. Two exceptional artists from the worst neighborhood in Chicago come together at HOP and a competition ensues. Ivy and Tag find out how much they have in common and how it brings them together and heals the wounds of loss. Can't wait for the next book!
Tag is an anonymous artist and tattooist at House of Payne. This story starts off with Ivy finding out Tag used her signature in some of his art. Sparks fly between these two at a press conference in House of Payne. A sexy, steamy, thrilling ride of a story that I can recommend to lovers of this series.
Tag is the alpha like no other and Iva's a firecracker. Together they're magic. I've liked all the books in the house of Payne series and this is no exception. You can't help but get sucked into the stories and feel like you're a part of the whole thing. I enjoy how all the characters from this series stay woven throughout the others and I cannot recommend this series enough. I give this one 4 stars.
This book for me was non stop excitement. The chemistry between Tag and Ivy was so intense and at times incredibly funny to read. Loved this book read it and spread the word!
Oh my I have no words at this moment. The latest house of pain book Tag just absolutely took my breath away. I savored this book.
Urban artist Tag is just so freaking ALPHA! Definitely need a lot of cold showers and hi speed fans. Oh the swoon! Ivy is simply take no crap kinda girl you just fall in love with, Their story just kept me so glued to my Kindle, just like the rest of the series did.
From the moment the spitfire tiger, Ivy ripped her blouse open in front of the cameramen during an art exhibit in the House of Payne claiming Tag was a thief and had stolen her tag, I was hooked.
Both had a horrible childhood living in the bad part of town. Gangs, drugs, murder. Tag is all alpha. Only sassy mouthed Ivy can bring out his soft side. The chemistry is hot. The characters are flawless. Plot is amazing.
The only downside is honey.
I would recommend Tag and The House of Payne Series.
I fell in love with The House of Payne series when I stumbled across book one Payne as a recommendation from Amazon.
Each book since has been a joy to read and this one was no exception. H/h dynamic was off the charts and the insight into their past was heartbreaking.
The secondary characters were funny and engaging, the storyline intriguing. Well worth reading.
