During World War 2, Charles “Chick” Parsons led Filipino insurgents in hit-and-run raids on Japanese positions in Manila, spied on the enemy forces and became the eyes and ears for General MacArthur while he was preparing to retake the Philippines. Rendezvous By Submarine is the remarkable story of the American whom MacArthur described as, “the bravest man I ever met.” “A story of military and morale building that paid dividends to our advantage, told with the flourish and zest it deserves.” - Kirkus Reviews. *Annotated edition with footnotes. *Includes official photographs.
Wow!! History is my thing. I live on Guam in 51-53 and again from 60-62. know just what the jungle is like. Charles Parson was one of a kind. His story catches you from the start. It a great read and a real account of the Guerrilla Soldiers of the Philippines an just how much the love the United States. Its so hard to know just what went through Parsons mind in all the time he work to build that home grown army. All I can say is if you start reading this book you will not want to put it down. Charles Parsons is a true American Hero in my book.
A fantastic story of how one man helped liberate the Philippines with the patriot gorillas and US Troops who escaped to the hills when the Japanese invaded.
