DiGiacamo has penned an eclectic tome of activities for the busy EFL/ESL teacher. Activities and games are indexed by target skill, student level, and teacher time/preparation required, making it easy to navigate the book and find what you are looking for.

It’s unlikely that the reader will find every activity useful; I’ve never come across any book of this sort that didn’t have its share of filler. That said, I believe that there's something here for every language teacher, regardless of teaching style and current teaching circumstances. Newer teachers especially will benefit from an early chapter entitled Teacher Survival Guide, plus the little tips DiGiacamo often imparts at the conclusion of each unit.

Particular favorites of mine were #19: Video Dialogue and #87: An Educated Guess. I will be trying these in my own classes.

Having recently started working in a language school with young children, I need all the help I can get. Discipline and order often hinge on how engaged in a particular learning activity my pupils are and, unless it’s presented to them as a game, they end up eating me alive. Every. Single. Time. So, I have no choice but to continue coming up with innovative ways of presenting the lesson to them and this little booklet gave me some fresh ideas to work with. The games given by the author are not exactly as prep-free as the introduction claims, but are still helpful. On a sidenote, the book is surprisingly full of typos for one written by an English teacher, but fine—I will overlook it.

First of all, these are mostly activities and NOT games. Secondly, some of these are readily available from the internet. Thirdly, many require a fair amount of preparation and planning. Although in a few cases links to online worksheets are provided, the book would have been much better if the author had taken time to develop more online links or provided an appendix with these at the end. Still, for the kindle price I can't complain too much. I figure I can use up to 20 or so of the suggested activities.

Very interactive!

This book provides with very specific instructions on how to play fun games for ESL students. The games are organized by the level and the type of activities (speaking, listening, etc).

Most of the games can easily be prepared with very little materials. Instructions seem to be simple enough for students to be able to easily follow.

I highly recommend this book to ESL teachers who are looking for the ways to let their students participate in classroom.

I wish I had this book when I first began my career as an English language teacher. It would have saved me a lot of lesson prep time. The games in this book are creative, easy to execute, and cover a broad range of skills. I like the way the sections are laid out and the Teacher's Survival Guide at the beginning of the book is also a very nice touch. Highly recommended!

I picked up this book hoping for games for level 1 students, and while there were some scattered throughout, I did not find most of them applicable for my goals. That said, the games included for level 3+ students seem spot on! Not a bad resource at all.

Most of the things in the book are actually activities, not games. Not a big deal, but I do appreciate an accurate title so I know what I'm getting before I buy the book. In addition, most of them require a decent amount of prep, contrary to what the subtitle states about requiring minimal prep.
