My family has been discovered for having magic after centuries of hiding.
And to make matters worse, I have to appear before the court of the Catach-Brayin. The largest and most dangerous vampire coven in the western world.
I’m grateful that Nathaniel saved my life when Isaac tried to murder me. But he didn’t have to kill him! Now I have to help prove his innocence before Tobias Vallas. One of the oldest vampires alive today. And the man who Nathaniel thinks might have something to do with Samantha’s murder.
I’m already wanted for being one of the few living kruxa witchlings still in hiding. One misstep and Tobias will kill me and my whole family.

I still really love the storyline in these books, but I find myself irritated with the lack of character growth in Harper. Don’t even get me started on Nathaniel… ugh.
As an urban fantasy novel, with a suspenseful murder mystery, these books are awesome. The storyline is fantastic, the world building is truly intriguing, and I’m completely drawn into what is going on. Unfortunately, I’m still struggling with the romance in the story. I don’t feel it at all. There is absolutely no chemistry between Harper and Nathanial, he’s extremely pushy (and not in a good way), and nothing has indicated that she is anything more than a 2nd choice look-alike to his love from centuries past. Yuck.
The second rate romantic feelings between h and H really only highlight what a pushover Harper can be. I hate how very passive she is in all of her interpersonal relationships. She’s wholeheartedly accepted her role as a “lesser being”, and she is completely cowed by those with superior magical power.
I’m totally invested in the story, but I really want to see Harper come out as a powerhouse early on in the next book, or I’m going have a hard time continuing.
This series is seriously getting even better with each new book. I'm book hooked! I definitely can't wait to read the next book. This book was epic. That ending made me seriously cry a bit. I'm now officially in a book hangover till the next book comes out. Thanks for letting me read it!
I received an ARC of this book from Shawn Knightley for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book and read it in a couple of hours. I was pulled in so fast I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely recommend this book and series to all. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
Enjoyable, but just something stops me from loving it
I can't put my finger on it, maybe it's the subservient wishy washy, take advantage of me nature of the main character.. but good pace and we'll written otherwise
