I wish there had been more on the information and history behind Bouguereau's paintings, but the quality of the pictures and amount of them was excellent. Great, easy reference book.

A good, first introduction to the artist and his work. Highly recommended for a study of the neo-classicist and classical-realist movements in art.

As someone whom has become interested with the nature and process of classical style art, this book is invaluable to my understanding of the techniques of the old masters with a slight twist to there application. Bouguereau's work is exquisitely beautiful; but alas, has become obscured by the Impressionists of his era. The writing was good, (for a book on art. Trust me, I've read worse) the prints were, eh, lacking; but, overall, a very enjoyable read for an art buff.
