Spring break is here, and the Sweet Valley University gang is in for six nights and seven days of sun, fun, and romance - on a college-students-only Caribbean cruise!
Overboard!
Jessica Wakefield has a plan. She's going to reenact her first thrilling encounter with the man of her dreams by throwing herself overboard - in the hopes that he'll come to her rescue again! Will Jessica's stunt lead to romance or tragedy?
Tom Watts is so desperate to win back Elizabeth Wakefield's love that he asks Todd Wilkins, Elizabeth's ex-boyfriend, for help. Will Todd and Tom bury the hatchet - or use it on each other?
Jason Pierce, Danny Wyatt's best friend from high school, is about to make the biggest mistake of his life - by marrying his two-timing fiancée. Should Danny tell all, or forever hold his peace?
Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
Once again, there’s another complete book that starts and ends on the Homecoming Queen boat during the Sweet Valley gang’s spring break vacation. This one wasn’t really my favorite, only because it’s been very obvious that all the build-ups of the past two books will come to a head. All the secrets have been bound to come out in the open, and all the tangles have stayed tangled for a little too long. . . The reader pretty much knows they’ll get untangled. Some do and some don’t; after all, there’s still drama to propel forty or so more books in the series!
Basically, this book serves as character development. Since everyone’s been stuck in a rut in the middle of the ocean for three books, the reader is given the chance to really get inside their heads and find out their fears and passions. I appreciated that aspect of the book, but all in all, it’s not the most exciting volume so far.
You know what they say: The Caribbean is wasted on the Sweet Valley crowd. This books wraps up all the romantic Spring Break shenanigans.
Jessica's mystery man is Randy Mason, nerd no more. They kiss only because Jessica is that desperate for romance.
Todd and Tom help each other get back with Gin-Yung and Liz. It was kinda nice to see them not hating each other for once. Too bad it doesn't last in later books.
Once Noah punches Leonardo, Alex realizes he really does care about her.
Bryan goes all Tom Cruise and water skis up to the boat and into Nina's arms.
Danny ruins the wedding, because of course he does, but at least he stopped two 18-year-olds from marrying. What craziness. Isabella forgives him but tells him not to touch her rayon dress.
Denise and Winston make it to a beautiful island alive and reunite with everyone.
And Bruce and Lila? They are the best, as always. I love how much Bruce loves her.
The little blurb at the end says that Liz and Tom are back together now but soon Liz will be swept off her feet by a vampire. Jesus Christ.
Quotes:
Liz: Neither one of us likes lies. And we don't like liars, either.
...how about that upcoming book then when you will ditch Tom in a heartbeat for someone new, Liz?
William White's murder plot is referred to as insane but "well-plotted" lol.
"As Tom filled her glass with punch, he noticed that the pink liquid was almost the exact same color as her lips."
