Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.

This book centered around Elizabeth's former BFF, Enid. Enid now goes by her middle name, Alexandra. She made her over so she's not the annoying person she was in high school. I'm basing that off the prom book where she was all "boooo Blubber likes me and I don't want to go to the prom w/ him." I think what annoyed me most is that she was basing it off his personality...which she didn't actually know. She didn't know him at all. So it had nothing to do w/ his looks. I can understand if you're not attracted to someone. You can't help who you're physically attracted to. However, if you base it off personality then you should actually know the person. She admits herself that she never talked to him so how can she know him? Then when he asks her to the prom she says yes even though she doesn't want to go w/ him. Pathetic. I'm glad she grew out of that. Her boyfriend in this book is an asshole. He is controlling and a grade A jerk. She isn't fitting into he wants her to be so he tears into who she is and degrades her. I hate him. She recognizes it and breaks up w/ him. But I'm sure w/ the way the book ended she'll end up back w/ her. But seeing how she is now I know that she won't put up w/ it so he returns to treating her that way they won't last.

Admittedly, I never got into Sweet Valley as a youngster (shocking, I know!) But I can't resist a thriller book cover with a girl clutching a telephone in fear! So this was my introduction to Sweet Valley University Thriller Editions and it was a good one! Despite being part of a series, I had no trouble following the characters or their relationships, which to me is a sign of good writing. There were even a couple of decent suspenseful moments, although the identity of the killer is very easy to spot!

It made me track down some of the other Thriller Editions.

I love how it's called SVU!
