Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
A fun easy read to break up the monotony of my current book. Thank goodness I never went to Sweet Valley University. There are always too many stalkers and near death experiences for a boring person like me. I also missed the book where William White goes from a creepy, attractive, silent-type guy to a nasty, murderous cult leader. I can't keep up with these stories.
𝘏𝘦'𝘴 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘠𝘰𝘶 started out well but quickly went down hill (no pun intended). The foundation for the characters as well as the plot was well laid out as anticipation and thrill built up with William White's scheming. The pacing was ideal and the cumulation of events were all building up to what seemed like a pretty promising climax. However, everything fell flat once they reached the football game. There were too many characters that were being showcased which removed the ability to give a proper character development (and for some, relationship arc) leaving all of them static, including the antagonist of the story, William White. Not to mention that once they all leave the football game, everything is rapidly wrapped up and the reader cannot fully immerse themselves in what should be a very agonizing and anxious series of events. All is brushed over and just as quickly as the ending came, the author throws the reader onto a new plot just before closing off the book with little to no (satisfying) closure. It took me a while to get through this rather small book, I would not re-read any time soon (or possibly ever)!
My goodness, no wonder He’s Watching You is a thriller edition! A little longer than the other books in the Sweet Valley University series, and chalk full of suspense, you will definitely read this on the edge of your seat.
As if these poor college students haven’t been through enough, now they’re contending with a madman on the loose, a plot for murder, an undercover operation, and more secret admirer deliveries of beheaded dolls and crushed roses! It all culminates during a Sweet Valley football game. Hundreds of witnesses guarantee safety, right? Find out by reading this thriller—and don’t even think of continuing the series by skipping this one. You’ll be lost, trust me.
It was truly a wild ride... I didn't expect it to be so dark and dangerous .. I picked out Sweet valley books to read for the easy-going, happy-go-lucky mishaps kind of plot but this was totally criminal minded .. And I didn't really like seeing Todd's life unravelling so bad .. Also the way no one even thought of the possibility of the real villain even given his history with Elizabeth ... but all's well that ends well!
I love the Sweet Valley series! This particular one, He's Watching You is great and has plenty of suspense. This one is considered a thriller edition and I think it's worth reading.
I liked this one - I mean, it was absolutely crazy, and like how would no one realise that wasn't Winston in the clown costume, really?? But it certainly was entertaining!
SWEET VALLEY UNIVERSITY Written by Francine Pascal General Review for series as I cannot remember each novel.
I read Sweet Valley University when I was in junior high school to high school. While there is sexual content it is very mild (not explicit) compared to teen books today. If you like the Sweet Valley High you will love this series as it continues with the twins' story as they attend University and are away from their parents. I am not sure how they would relate to teens today as this was before cell phones were common and social media. They are fun teen romances with "real-life" situation. I did not complete the series as I started to save for school so I wasn't able to collect them any further (they are out of print). I still have the books I bought and may try to read one again (I did reread the series a few times).
