When magic is involved, the end isn’t always the end.
If Isadora has learned one thing at the academy, it’s that nothing is ever simple in the world of magic. Not even death.
She has a second chance. All she has to do is figure out how to come back to life. Piece of cake, right?
With unexpected friends in the spirit world, she might just manage what no other magician has done before… and she might actually live to tell the tale.
If anyone can do it, Isadora can, because when it comes to magic, no one’s thought to tell her what she can—and cannot—do.
Lucía Ashta is the internationally top 20 bestselling author of young adult, new adult, and adult paranormal and urban fantasy books, including the series Magical Creatures Academy, Witches of Gales Haven, Smoky Mountain Pack, and Supernatural Bounty Hunter.
When Lucía isn't writing, she's reading, painting, or adventuring. Magical fantasy is her favorite, but the action, romance, and quirky characters are what keep her hooked on books.
Wait....what? It just started getting to the exciting part and then it ended? But now Isa is back and teaming with the others to develop a plan to rescue Albacus. Her ideas are instinctual but the others readily saw them as the best way that would work. At long last, she is finally being heard. In fact, Isa thought to herself, “Since I’d arrived at the academy, circumstances had forced me into one situation after another long before I’d been ready. Half the time, I felt like I was struggling...” It was nice to see her with more confidence and determination to make her voice be heard. I can totally relate to that. I can’t wait to see how their non-plan plan turns out. (Yes, I did write non-plan plan on purpose.)This is a great exciting series with so many wonderful characters. It’s a testament to Ms Ashta’s talented imagination. Highly recommended.
What a wonderful book! Isa has returned to her body at the Magical Arts Society and she has lots to tell the magicians, witches and magical creatures about where she was and what she has found out.
The firedrakes are all gathered around, with everyone else and, of course, all want to know how does it feel and how did she come back.
This is the story of the 5 firedrakes that came back with Isa from her journey to assist with finding Albacus. What happens when the firedrakes are transformed back to their original state? Are they too, magical creatures?
As usual, this is an enchanting wild ride with wonderful images keeping one on the edge of their seat waiting for the next bit to unravel before our eyes.
Transformations is definitely a must read for anyone who loves magic wholeheartedly.
I’m glad they were able to save the firedrakes. They are still my favorite part of the story. And I’m glad the Isa is no longer timid and meek. She’s standing up a little more and taking charge.
Coming back from the dead is not the end. The fight goes on. Isa is back among the living with crucial information about Albacus and boost to her self-confidence when it comes to magic. Now she has to focus on the task at hand. First of all, they need to free the people spelled to firedrakes, which definitely is not an easy task, even with a master transformer at their aid. Yet accomplishing that might only bring more questions and doubts, and moreover, now they have a very unexpected aid on their side... Enjoyable story, a very fast read, with lots of beautiful magical elements and interesting plot developing at a steady pace. I really enjoyed all the characters, and am truly looking forward to how the newly introduced ones will influence the story further.
Another fantastic book from Lucia. I loved reading that Isa is back in her body. Now we move on to the firedrakes and saving Albacus. I definitely never know what to expect, but I'm loving this series more and more. A most definite read.
I just poured through two of Lucia Ashta’s Magical Arts Academy novels, Ghostly Return (separately reviewed) and Transformations, the seventh and eighth books in the series. Let me just say it: there’s an old Carly Simon song that is sorta the soundtrack to this review - “Nobody Does It Better”. I read so many (literally thousands) of fantasy novels that I feel qualified to make that statement. It’s just a fact - when it comes to writing consistently original, powerful and fun fantasy novel series, nobody does it better. So come on back to Isadora’s world as she tries to figure out how to survive the spirit world and come back to life. No big deal, right? Hah! Lucky for us though it does result in one amazing pair of stories. Frankly, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises. These two book l’s definitely deserve it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the books are truly easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to Castle’s Curse, the next book in this series.
WONDERS NEVER CEASE!!! This is one mind blowing, intense, exciting, action packed, hard hitting, smooth flowing, thrilling, page turning delight that grabs your attention from the start. Lucia is definitely one tremendously talented and gifted author. The depths of her insight are limitless. The reach of her imagination is endless with possibilities as she continues to create worlds and realms that leave us in awe and wanting more. Her characters as always, well developed, believable and so realistic you can't help but fall in love with. Her scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. One thing is undeniable, once you start reading anything this awesome author publishes, you're hooked. You can't wait for the next installment or any new series, it's addicting and you wouldn't have any other way. Lucia did a phenomenal job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Lucia, thanks for sharing.
Transformations is Book 8 in The Magical Arts Academy series which gets better with each additional book. This book begins where Book 7 Ghostly Return ends. Isadora's spirit has retuned to her body after 7 hours of her death much to her and everyone's surprise. While in the spirit world she discovers the location of Albacus. Isa has gained a great deal of confidence during her adventures at the Academy. She now voices her opinion and while working with the others is coming up with a plan to rescue Albacus. Lucia Ashta has a fantastic imagination and creates such wonderful stories. Her world building is awesome and her characters are extremely well developed, interesting, and real. Each book in this series is an adventure and packed with lots of action and progresses at a fast pace. This book and series are ones I whole heartedly recommend. I received a copy and this is my voluntary and honest review.
In the last book we saw Isa die and trying to return to her body. Well, in the first chapter of this new book, Isa is back after 7hrs. Boy was everybody worried. Marcelo had said she could stay out of her body for no more than 6hrs. She returned with no major problems. The next thing to do is finish the spell to return all the cursed back to human form. Will being involved again kill her? Are the 7 people good or bad? And there is still the matter of getting Albacus back from Maurisse? This is my favorite book in the series but I guess the book I'm reading at that time is my favorite. I received a free copy of this book and chose to review it.
I'm enjoying Lucia Santa Magical Arts Academy series and how they connect to her witching world series however I wish that she would stop majority entire series novella length. The story just gets to a good part and it ends at a cliffhanger. Most of the "books" in the series don't even take more than a days worth of time in the series. It would have made more sense to combine several of the novella in the series to make a full length book. I do enjoy the quirky characters she has in this series.
The story continues smoothly where the previous book ended. The eighth book in the series, sees Isa's spirit back in her body much to everyone's surprise. Her next adventure now begins. The reader is once more captured and kept involved in this captivating tale. Exciting and full of character development, it is a fascinating and immersive story. Once again, the Author does not disappoint. Recommended! Gifted with a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I voluntarily review an ARC. This is the 8th part of the Magical Arts Academy series, the books should be read in order. Although this part contains less action than the previous ones, we gain precious information and new allies. How do you plan a rescue mission against the probably most powerful wizard? How can you surprise someone who has already dealt with skilled opponents? I'm anxiously waiting for the next part to see, if the plan works. Highly recommended series.
Isa is at it again. She managed to get back into her body. But, if she's not careful, she could die again. This time, there will be no coming back. The five fire drakes have still not been transformed and she feels she must help their cause. But, will her help imperil her life? A nice, quick read for fanciful afternoons.
This is the eighth book in this series and as the title shows in this one there are a lot of TRANSFORMATIONS that goes on here. Isa is getting to be a very strong character in this series with each passing book we go through and with each TRANSFORMATION that happens along the way I'm sure that you will be able to make it through them too...
This is another winner. This series just keeps getting better and better. The wonderful characters keeping getting better and the storyline is wonderful too. This author has a great imagination and I love all the books I have read. 12 books I think. I highly recommend all her books and different series. Diana Romano
Fast paced Action, Adventure, Suspense and Magic! It's non-stop from the first page to the last! A young lady learns you can do anything you set your mind to! I read it in one sitting and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
I really loved this story in the series. Isadora is such a wonderful character. I love reading more about her and the other Characters to see what happens next. Such A wonderful series of books. One of the best I Have read.

Very imaginative. It does seem to take a bit to go anywhere. Lots of internal dialogue. But when it does, it’s quite enjoyable. The characters all come to life. I really enjoy Isa. Hope they learn what they need to soon.
And it gets curiouser and curiouser. It looks like the fund getting started. You don't want to miss a single story. Isa speaks to firedrakes or do they speak to her? A war is on the horizon. The plan is ready. Go, read please enjoy.
These books where short and fast to read. I started them and couldn't put them down. I didn't get my reviews in because I didn't want to stop. So much goodness on these books. You are going to like every one of these characters.
Is book is 5 - 8 of a 13 book series. I'm going to post this review to all 4 since it covers them all.
Well written books and a fun story ruined by being broken up into little pieces. Authors really need to stop wasting their time and our money trying to get us buy books that are not whole.
Drama, magic, surprises, and plans and deliberations. A busy book, but too short. These books seem more like chapters or epics than a book. I am still eager for the next book.
I have gone from being unsure about this series, to being completely invested. I would say that the series is entertaining for all from pre-teens to adults.
