Noah tries to do the right thing—protect the innocent and make the evil pay for their sins. But instead of saving the world, he loses himself. After testifying against one of the biggest crime bosses in the country, Noah’s fear of retribution leads to a serious case of agoraphobia. There isn’t much in Noah’s safe zone that calms his nerves… well, except for his short interactions with his surly but hot new neighbor. Life crushed Dr. Zachary Meadows’s rose-colored glasses years ago. He makes amends for the deeds of others—and for his failure to protect those in need—by saving as many lives as he can as an ER physician. After early betrayals, he purposefully keeps his circle small. Until he meets his odd new neighbor and unwanted desires cause him to act like a jerk. When two survivors collide—one desperate for love and one afraid of it—sparks fly. But just as Zachary and Noah begin to heal one another, the past returns…with a vengeance. One. Two. I’ve decided to come for you. Three. Four. It won’t help Scaredy Cat to lock his door. Five. Six. You committed a sin you can’t fix. Seven. Eight. I’ve picked the date. Nine. Ten. No one will ever see you again.
This is a story of two men who were hiding from the world and from themselves. How much do we know about our own neighbors? How many times do we judge the book by its cover and are wrong? Too many times! This time though the mistake will be rectified and the life will be saved. This time enemy will turn into lover, stranger will turn into brother and soul deep wounds will be healed once and for all.
Zach is a man in control, he is polished, smooth and content. He shows the world the face of a man who does no wrong but on the inside he slowly loses himself, he bleeds in silence and the guilt will soon crush him. How can he atone for his sins but be the best at what he does. And so day in and day out he saves lives but unfortunately can't save his own. They always stare. They always whisper and quickly look away. Noah is always alone and he wants it that way. He is terrified for his life. He is spiraling out of control and nothing can stop it until one day he finally has enough courage to step outside his door to see Zack up close. He knows Zack has nothing but contempt and disgust. He does not know how bad things are and he never will. But a chance or maybe Fate intervenes and Zack sees Noah for the first time and knows how badly he misjudged him.
The first part of the book is focused on Noah getting better, getting more self-confident and taking control of his life. Zack becomes his friend and lover, and together they try to piece the puzzle of Noah's feelings and see where they go from there. They are passionate, romantic and funny. When Zack takes charge of Noah's life it looks like all is not what it seemed before and many things that made perfect sense don't. Noah comes out of his shell, he makes friends and just when he thinks he has it under control the past catches up to him. And from that moment all that was hidden comes to light. The enemy becomes a friend, a friend turns on you. And wow, when the whole picture is complete Noah sees how wrong he was, and that there is no way out. But what he does not know is that Zack will never stop searching and that this is not the end. It was slightly nerve-wracking there in the end when things came to a crescendo! It was thrilling and a little terrifying in a good way. I loved how things turned out and how far Noah has come. He is strong and brave and with Zack's help the world is theirs to conquer!
Even though the first part was a little slow going for me, when I reached the second part it was amazing and well-paced and exciting. I loved it and I highly recommend it!
I had a hard time with this book because it was an okay read, but many things bothered me. "Joe" aka Noah is in witness protection. The F.B.I. thought it would be funny to rename him "John Doe". Please correct me because I'm not an expert, but isn't the purpose of witness protection to NOT draw attention to the witness. I think having the name John Doe is the opposite. Noah is also extremely agoraphobic, but not sure why. There was no certain traumatic event that made him that way. I thought most phobias were usually triggered by certain events, but this is my opinion... No fact. Noah can't leave his building so he can't get a real job, so he poses for erotic photos. What witness trying to hide poses for photos that will be all over the internet!!? The author explains this away by stating his face doesn't get photographed!!? I don't care!!? How are you supposed to stay hidden and anonymous!? Fyi... Noah has multiple degrees (never said what degrees), and he speaks 6 languages, but he can only get a job doing nude photos!!! Really!!!? WTF! There were many other things that bothered me, but this rant has gone on forever. Don't even get me started with how nobody listens to the dog when Noah gets kidnapped. Honestly, I didn't hate this book, but these ridiculous scenarios kept me from enjoying it more.

Ugh! I tried, but got to 76%. This really did not work for me. It was almost like a cheesy suspense drama with all the hallmarks of a B Grade movie with sex thrown in for good measure. I get it's fiction but should probably have had an ounce of credability in the story line. Needy, agoraphobic Noah and white knight AKA the Good Doctor Zack riding in to save the day from the baddie. Umm nope! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The blurb to this story lured me right in, and as I have enjoyed Ms. McKinney in the past, I didn’t hesitate to give it a go. Noah is 3 years into witness protection after providing evidence against the head of a mafia family. Unfortunately, his fears have caused him to become agoraphobic to the point where he can barely leave his apartment. He does manage to utilize the complex’ gym, but that’s about it. Zach is Noah’s neighbor, who is not happy that Noah has caught his eye and therefore treats him like crap. Zach also thinks Noah is a prostitute since he only sees guys going to and from his apartment. After an episode lands Noah in Zach’s emergency room, they eventually get past that as things are made clearer.
There are quite a few things that don’t add up though, and Zach, sensing some things are not right (Noah’s basket of medications and his supposed FBI liaison throwing off some really bad vibes) have him stepping in to help. He makes it his mission to help Noah get over his phobia. Understandably, Noah falls for Zach, but Zach is adamant that he is incapable of returning that love (something which drove me a little crazy). Zach grew up the son of the leader of a biker gang. Hating everything that entailed, he got out, but not before sending his father and other members of the club to prison. He turned his life around and became a doctor, but the past is still front and center for him.
There were a few contradictions that kept pulling me from this story. First, it was hard to picture Zach as an actual physician, and his frequent self-loathing and excuses for lack of ability to love felt a little much at times. He also very quickly turned to using the term “Babe” which felt awkward in its frequency. I did love how Zach found ways to gently push Noah out of his comfort zone and to better handle his panic attacks. Noah, on the other hand, was a total sweetheart. He was a victim first of the mafia family, then the FBI, and even more so of himself.
I think the issue for me was that there were too many things going on that didn’t totally mesh or were not seen through, and the tying in of everything made this feel a little longer than it needed to be. Everything does get wrapped up in the end, but some of it felt a little over the top for me. However, there was a lot to love as well, such as the chemistry between Noah and Zach, the banter between Zach and his bestie, Conner (who definitely needs his own book!), the lovable new-mom and police dog reject who ends up saving the day, and a few other things as well. Though this didn’t blow me out of the water, it was still very enjoyable and kept my interest through to the end. I definitely recommend checking this author out if you haven’t done so already. I continue to look forward to whatever she cooks up next. 🙂
This was an interesting and fun read, for the most part. Noah and Zach definitely had chemistry, and I loved their interactions after Zach stopped being a jackass. Thankfully, that happened fairly quickly.
The story was interesting. Noah is 22 and hiding, 4 years after he gave evidence against Donovan Moretti, a crime family boss. In that time he's developed agoraphobia and only feels comfortable enough moving around the apartment building, never stepping out of it. Even then, he counts his steps from his apartment door to the elevator, to the elevator to the gym in the building, and so on.
He's barely living, always in fear of the Moretti family coming after him and murdering him for giving over evidence that put the crime boss in jail.
But then Zach comes along, with his own demons and walls, hiding in his own way.
Zach pretends, really, that he hates Noah at first - for no reason - and always comes up with any excuse to. He says it's because he wanted Noah so badly since the first time he saw him and that scared him, given that he'd given up on love a long time ago and felt he was too broken to love or be loved. It was a shitty excuse, imo, for treating Noah like shit.
But, Zach DID apologize and he truly meant it and improved, so that made me like him. He still had his idiotic moments, like when he had stupid ass thoughts like "I wish I could give Noah love, but he deserves better than a broken man incapable of love, it just wasn't possible" and blah blah blahhh bullshit. Thankfully he realizes that bullshit.
Noah had his own idiotic moments, but for the most part he was a sweetheart. I mean, when everything is coming to a head, I think he acts just as stubborn as Zach acts, and his actions are idiotic. He thought doing shit on his own would be keep Zach and Cameron (Zach's BFF and also Noah's friends) safe, but it wouldn't have. Characters who think sacrificing themselves will keep their loved ones safe (and thus keeping them in the dark about what they're doing) always annoy because it's like...do you really think this psychopathic bad guy is really gonna let them go? Almost always the bad guy turns around is like "nah, i'm gonna kill them even though i said I wouldn't" it's like...a stereotype by this point. I mean!!
Also, I wish there had been more steam. We get ONE sex scene, ONE and that's it. Pages and pages were filled with Noah and Zach's thoughts and feelings, which honestly weren't always needed, and they could have been spent giving us some sexytimes, is all I'm saying.
Definitely worth a read, and definitely a good read, but it could have been improved in areas. I still really liked this, though, so it gets a thumbs up from me.
While I did enjoy the book, the crime drama portion of it didn't work consistently for me. The convergence of over-the-top crime family members, regionally organized human-trafficking biker gangs, MCs with troubled pasts and hearts of gold, and stand-out supporting characters who are clearly jonesing for books of their own left me with a certain sense of je ne sais wtf. It was just a lot to process, and my suspension of disbelief had difficulty keeping up.
I had no problems finishing the book, and I'll happily try other works by this author, but I'd liken my appreciation of this particular work to how I feel about a fun action-drama film; it's a good ride if you can go along with it and not get caught up in picking apart what doesn't make sense to you.
New to me author. This is a mm contemporary story set in America. Dr Zachary Meadows and Noah St Claire have a rough time finding their happiness but it was well worth the time. A real page turner. I’ll read more from this author.
WOW WOW WOW. I started Saving Noah and couldn’t put it down. The storyline and characters grabbed me from the very start and wouldn’t go. The book is very well written to the point I felt like I was right there watching everything unfold and feeling all the emotions the characters were feeling.
Zachary, a successful doctor with a very dangerous past, has moved into a condo complex and is fascinated by his sexy next door neighbor, John. John, rarely leaves his condo and when he does leave he’s very shy and skittish. Zach sees men dressed in flamboyant outfits going in and out of John’s apartment and he’s convinced John is some type of prostitute, which makes Zach treat John very rudely. But everything changes when John is brought into the ER where Zach works, with a head injury and upon waking has a major anxiety attack. Zach learns John suffers from Agoraphobia. Due to his own past, Zach has an overwhelming need protect John, especially when John tell him his true story, that his name is really Noah St. Clair and he’s in the federal witness protection program. From here the story takes off as Zach learns more and more about his sexy neighbor, his fears and the people out to kill him.
This is one heck of a suspenseful love story. I laughed, cried and smiled as I read this edge of your seat, touching storyline. I Highly Highly Highly recommend reading Saving Noah. 5 stars doesn’t even begin to say how wonderful this story was to me, but that is all they let me give. Kudos to Ms. Mckinney for writing such a phenomenal book and this reader is anxiously awaiting, Uptown Boy, book 2 in the series.
I may have just found another must read M/M author to add to my list. Saving Noah was everything I love about M/M and romantic suspense. I loved the writing, the tone of the novel, and most of all the growth and healing arcs of the characters. Saving Noah is definitely one of the best M/M novels I’ve read this year.
While Zach and Noah’s acquaintanceship started out roughly, once they Zach gave Noah a second chance and got to know him rather than making assumptions about his life, their relationship was fantastic. I loved how effortlessly they fell into a place where neither of them could imagine the other not being in their lives and how fiercely they both were about protecting the other. Their relationship could have easily been lopsided, but somehow TS McKinney made their dynamic feel completely equal and supportive.
One of my favorite aspects of Saving Noah was the way TS McKinney touched on mental illness and how they refused to let even the character suffering from it make it a joke. I loved that Zach did everything in his power to get Noah proper care for his condition and was patient with Noah as he took the baby steps he needed to heal from the traumas of his past properly.
The plot of Saving Noah was riveting. From the antagonism between the characters in the beginning, through the navigation of their fledgling relationship and Noah’s condition in the middle, to the intrigue and fear of the final chapters, there was never a moment when I wasn’t fully engrossed with Zach and Noah’s story.
Saving Noah is the first book in an as yet untitled series by TS McKinney. This story was complete, as far as the couple concerned, so I imagine these books will be interconnected standalones, with an overarching storyline tying them all together. Saving Noah is written in third-person limited perspective, alternatively following Zach and Noah’s thoughts.
TS McKinney is a new to me author, I’d seen the name around but had no idea what they wrote. When a wonderful friend suggested this book to me, I jumped at the chance to find another author to love and I was not disappointed. TS enraptured me with their storytelling and writing, and I will be seeking out TS‘s backlist and looking forward to the work they publish in the future.
All Noah wanted was to do the right thing... he never thought a good deed would have such drastic consequences... he definitely couldn't imagine that it would totally turn his life upside down! From the moment Zach saw his hot neighbor, he couldn't take him from his mind... he was hot and at the same time innocent and shy. Zach and Noah story is full of suspense, hotness, emotion, romance and understanding... how these two wounded souls meet, connect and bond will keep you glued to every page of this great book. AWESOME READ
Zach is an ER doctor, trying to right the wrongs of his past and Noah is the agoraphobic neighbor who gets under his skin. Both of them are hiding things from each other, and despite Zach's antagonism for Noah, or maybe because of it, sparks fly whenever they meet. That changes after Zach helps Noah after a panic attack lands him in the hospital he works at. They give in to their attraction to each other, and Zach is helping Noah cope with his mental illness, but the past has a way of catching up with you.
I absolutely adored Noah. He was such a sweetheart, and yet, he had a core of steel, especially with all he'd gone through before he and Zach meet and then again during the book. I really liked that Ms. McKinney didn't magically cure Noah, but instead showed it as an ongoing process, even at the end of the book. I loved Zach, too, even if there were some times in which I wanted to strangle him so he would just give in to what he obviously felt for Noah. Not saying the words, doesn't make them less true, after all! Other than that, I adore how protective he was of Noah and how he supported and helped him with his illness. The chemistry between them was off the charts and the sex scenes were passionate and intense and just a tad on the kinky side. Above all, though, I adore how well they fit together, how much fun they had and their banter.
Connor, Zach's best friend, Wayne, his boyfriend, and Denala, Zach's dog, were amazing and I really hope we get to catch up with all of them on book 2.
The suspense portion of the story was really well done, while I had a feeling one of the actors wasn't as innocent as Noah thought he was, I never imagined the extent of what he was capable of.
Overall, Saving Noah was a fabulous read! Combining suspense and romance in a masterful way, it captivated me until the very end. Highly recommendable!

Saving Noah, by TS McKinney is a powerful book that grips you immediately.
Zach and Noah are neighbors, who are both broken, lonely, and have cut themselves off from the world. Zach is a doctor who spends all of his time trying to save lives, trying to atone for his sins. But it's killing him slowly, as he has no one to save him. And Noah, oh my sweet Noah, is hiding, terrified of everyone and everything, and is taken care of by people who don't care about him.
Their lives forever change when Zach steps in to take care of the agoraphobic Noah. Noah trusts Zach, after not trusting anyone for years, revealing his issues to Zach. It ends up that Noah is hiding from danger, as he has a dangerous person from his past who would like nothing more than to kill him.
Their love story is beautiful, as TS McKinney takes these two broken men, and heal them with the help of one another. Zach never wanted to open his heart to love again, and Noah knows his situation won't allow him to fall in love.
It is phenomenal the way that Zach can't resist loving the troubled Noah, and that this love saves him. Zach hadn't realized how much he was both physically and emotionally broken. But falling in love with Noah helps him to live again as opposed to just going through the motions.
TS McKinney has completely impressed me with Saving Noah, as it's compelling, thought-provoking and remarkable.
a) I have an issue with how people view sex work as something vile and only done as a last resort. As Connor puts it "[..] he doesn't have the look of a person forced to sell his body for survival... or drugs. [...] It's usually for drugs." Connor is a cop, FYI. While I'm sure that is true for some people in the sex industry, but definitely not for all.
b) You're telling me that a control-freak physician has an unspayed German Shepherd that he let out of his sights long enough to get knocked up and he failed to notice at any point that she was pregnant with eight puppies? How does a dog that lives on the top floor of a secure complex manage to get the runaround on its owner? It's not like he couldn't afford to get her spayed. Sounds like a shitty dog owner to me.
c) John Doe? Really? Like that wouldn't raise suspicion.
d) I'm pretty sure you don't put someone in WITSEC in the the same city in which the crime took place... which I assume is the case, otherwise Connor shouldn't have been familiar with the crime DVDs.
e) While I don't think this is quite "magic dick", Zachary is indeed a dick who magically earns the trust of someone who is agoraphobic and not fond of strangers.
I'm not interested in sticking around long enough to see how this all goes down, as it doesn't seem overly well plotted.
Saving Noah by Ts McKinney is the tale of Zachary a 30 something doctor from a rough life that has left him emotionally damaged. He doesn't do relationships. He does have the hots for his young neighbor. He keeps telling himself that the neighbor is a nuisance and he assumes he is a prostitute. When Zachary's best friend Connor who he has known since they were kids calls him out about his true feelings about his neighbor, Zachary has to make a decision. Noah has many issues. He hasn't left his apartment building in years. When he ventures outside his door he doesn't look anyone in the eye. The only place he does to is the apartment's gym. When a panic attack lands Noah in the ER where Zachary is working, their two worlds collide. This was a story of two people who were able to save each other. The story had me laughing at times. Other time my heart was breaking. However by the end of the book I had a big smile on my face. M/M is not the type of story I gravitate to but I love the way this author tells her story. Her books are much more than a bunch of sex. A lovely journey to true love with a few bumps. Looking forward to the next book. Looking forward to seeing which character's story will be told next. 5 stars.
Holy crap! It got a bit tense there for a moment but I made it through! This book is amazing and you have to read it. T.S. gives us strong characters, depth of story and such wonderful writing that draws you straight in, not letting you go until the final page. Our MC's, Noah and Zachary, each have their own history and problems going on but it doesn't stop the instant attraction and the connection that joins them together from the moment they meet. Unfortunately, one of Noah's current issues is severe agoraphobia but for very good reasons. We learn these early on, as does Zachary but being so stubborn, it doesn't stop him from getting involved. The two men together are hot(!), adorable and you can feel their connection just coming through the pages. It's great that we get to read from both men's POV, helping us to understand them individually together and the situations that they find themselves in. I really got invested in the outcome for these men and I cannot wait for book 2!! I highly recommend this book, to fans of T.S. McKinney and those new to her, you're in for an emotional ride! I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
“I’d stopped living and you brought me back to life.”
Noah is trapped—confined to his apartment out of fear for his life…that is until he sets his eyes on his sexy next door neighbor. Dr. Zachary Meadows is fighting against a past he can’t escape. Feeling unworthy of love, he’s puzzled by the feelings he has for his neighbor…a man he knows nothing about…not even his name. Noah and Zach are two souls in desperate need of healing, and as each day passes, Noah draws strength from his love of Zach, and Zach begins to see the man he truly can be in the eyes of his lover. But when Noah’s life is put at risk, Zach embraces his past and vows to do anything to save the man he loves.
T.s. McKinney has once again written a smexxy love story wrapped around a “who done it” mystery. In Saving Noah, this smoldering romance shows that looks can be deceiving, and everyone is worthy of love regardless of their past. Highly recommend!
Another awesome one McKinney. The blurb already grabbed my attention as a plot I haven't seen before and I wanted to know more. Noah is a little damage and a lot adorable. He needs not only a second chance at life but a great foundation to build himself back up. Zachary got his second chance, he build himself up and hide too from his past. Is he a good man? he doesn't know but he wants to be. This is a story with a lot of twist I didn't see coming which I love, and some intense situations that deal with real issues. This felt realistic and the connection between the main characters was epic. Side characters like Connor, Wayne and a adorable dog Denala make me want to know more about this Universe. Can't wait for the next.
This book has everything. It made me feel so much. Love, hate, despair, hope, frustration and fear. It was a very intense, well thought out plot with unexpected twists and turns. Solid main characters in Zach and Noah. Noah, in witness protection program and severely agoraphobic. Zach moves in next door to Noah and the attraction is immediate. Zach doesn't like it , can't figure Noah out. Until the day Noah has a panic attack and ends up in the ER where Zach is on duty. Even as they become lovers and get closer to one another , the walls are still erected around Zach's heart, his past ensuring they stay there. Until events saw those walls come crashing down. Brilliant.
First time author for me and this book made the grade. The story pulled me in from the beginning I was into the book enough to wake up at 2am to continue reading ..... Zach and Noah they are neighbours both connect eventually . Noah has issues he is trying to heal himself but Zach has different ideas as he wants to take Noah under his wing to be the Doctor as that is who he is.. There is a love growing but the words from Zach can't be told as he also has issues.. This was a great book with an age difference that works .. Cops and vice go hand in hand ... It ticked all my boxes... I so enjoyed this book.....
I was given an arc for a honest review, legalities aside I totally loved this book!!! Noah and Zach were both well rounded characters. I didn't feel like book was rushed at any point. The storyline was believable and it checked off all my favorites, action suspense, and humor. Ts McKinney did an as amazing job of capturing the emotions of each character and they really stood out. With that being said I hope the next book (hint hint) revolves around Conner because He deserves his chance to shine.
Saving Noah has all the feels. Noah and Zach are just perfect for each other. Both with thier issues but together so much more than they think. This story pulled at my heart and just about broke it at times. Noah seems so fagile but has such a backbone and will to live and Zach is trying to be the person he thinks he should be to not follow in his fathers foot steps. I love the secondary characters and so hope that we get more of them in future books. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This is just freaking awesome. I mean like excellent awesome, thrilling awesome, loving awesome. Just everything awesome. Noah I'm in love. Zach I'm in love. Then there are more that I have fallen for. But this story you just got read!! It keep me glued and had me on the edge of my seat many times. T.S McKinney has become very fast one of my favourite authors to read and she has not failed me yet. In fact I'm really hoping she is very busy right now writing more fantastic and amazing stories for me to read. Saving Noah is a brilliant story and I so very highly recommend reading it
What a great exciting read. The characters Noah and Zach are perfect for each other. Both having issues and a past they had rather forget. One struggles With everyday life and the other is saving lives and trying to start over.
Saving Noah is sexy with awesome characters but also it’s suspenseful with a story that pulls you in and has your mind spinning. The author did a wonderful job putting this story out there. It was very original and the writing was phenomenal.
I love this author's writing, she knows just how to keep you hanging on the edge of your seat right up to the very end of the book. Noah is trapped in a world he has created thinking it would keep him safe. His new neighbour Zachary thinks all the wrong things about Noah and hides from his own past. How these two work through their issues tugs at your heartstrings and makes you want to shout at your kindle in frustration. But you are always guaranteed an HEA and it was so much more than i expected. I can't wait for the second in this series.
I think the story started out quite good and I could feel a few twists and turns coming soon. But as soon as the characters became lovers, the plot was lost. I flicked through most of the sex scenes to find the plot but kind of lost interest. Shame really, because the base of the story seemed really good.
This is the first book I've read from this author and it won't be my last.
Two hearts, two souls seemingly irreparably damaged by their life's circumstances or choices. One trying to atone for the sins of his father, one hiding (and suffering) after bringing to light the sins of another. Zach & Noah's story had me from the start. I laughed, I cringed, I felt Noah's fear and anxiety. I felt Zach's guilt. Though, I had to smile when Denala (the failed police dog) stepped up to the plate and did her duty like the pro she was born to be.
Oh wow. Really enjoyed this story. Different than my normal reading but glad I did.
I needed something a little different to read. Looking for Mob boss type of story. Ok so this one was more of a biker style but still worked. Enjoyed the biker club member going straight and Noah trying to do the right thing and getting screwed over but both coming out of it in the end. Not a big biker club book fan but would read more about this group of people.
McKinney has scripted a complex multi-plot tale that ranges from a central setting of Atlanta to Texas and Las Vegas. The MCs, a heavily inked doctor and a young man in Witness Protection, have secure penthouse apartments opposite. With a mix of pharmacopeia, psychiatry, mild BDSM, gangs and the Mafia, the story moves fast, keeps interesting, and has great twists. And some awesome heat.
