About the author

I was born in 1988 and started writing stories when I was 5. Then I went to school and kept writing stories. At the time I was 16, I started working for magazines as a humorist and kept writing stories. When I grew up, I studied nuclear physics and kept writing. As a university student, I worked as a graphic designer, film editor, teacher, and journalist and kept writing always. Now I am working as a copywriter, editor, and teacher and still keep writing stories.
So, I am anything but a writer!

تصویر سازی گیرا و داستان جذابی داره برای بزرگسالا. اما مطمئن نیستم همین درک رو برای کودک هم ایجاد کنه. به نظرم بیشتر مخاطبش پدر مادرهان.

من عااااااشق این کتابم. هم داستان و هم تصویرگریش.

بازی که با اندازه شخصیت ها تو فریم های مختلف داستان انجام شده خیلی سرگرم کننده و قشنگه. همیشه به ما میگن فریم ها رو جوری بپیچینید که خواننده(بیننده؟) از تکراری بودن زاویه دید خسته نشه.
طراحی شخصیت ها هم عااالی. خیلی خیلی خوبه*.*



+ هیچ وقت فکر نمیکردم این رنگ ها رو کنار هم دوست داشته باشم و کلا هیچ وقت فکر نمیکردم سیاه، سفید و قرمز باهم به عنوان رنگ غالب برای کتاب کودک انتخاب مناسبی باشه ولی آقای دالوند واقعا جوری از رنگ ها استفاده کردن که به جای اینکه تو ذوق بزنه بسیار سرگرم کننده ست. (لااقل برای من که اینطوره:)) )

+ نشر طوطی رو خیلی دوست دارم واقعا. در کنار داستان خوب تصویرگرای خوبیم انتخاب میکنن برای کارها*.*

علیرغم اینکه کاملا ایرانی بود، هم نویسنده و هم تصویرگر
اما فوق العاده که نه اما عالی بود .
وقتی خریدمش فقط به اسم و داستان ش توجه کردم ،
فکر نمیکردم نویسنده اش ایرانی باشه .
و واقعا خوشحالم که همچین کتاب هایی در ایران نوشته و چاپ میشه .
چقدر خوبه والدین و خانواده ها متفاوت بودن فرزندان رو بپذیرن و از اون ها انتظاری فراتر از شخصیت شون نداشته باشن و به بچه این اعتماد به نفس رو بدن که متفاوت بودن چیز بدی نیست و میشه در عین داشتن تفاوت با دیگران بهترین خود بود .

از ویژگی‌های این قصه و کارهای مشابه نویسنده‌اش این است که سر کسی کلاه نمی‌گذارد و این به نظر من بزرگ‌ترین لطفی‌ست که می‌توان در حق یک انسان به جا آورد. دنیایی که در آن زندگی می‌کنیم ملغمه‌ایست از زشتی‌ها و درشتی‌ها، جایی که در بهترین حالت می‌شود تنها به آن خندید و با ناملایماتش در حد توان مقابله کرد.
کتاب‌های تصویری می‌توانند سرگرمی خوبی برا بچه‌ها باشند ولی به نظرم برای مخاطب بزرگسال حیاتی هستند! مثل یه ضربه‌ی جانانه زیر گوش، بیدارشان می‌کند و حواسشان را از روزمرگی‌های الکی زندگی، جمعِ به ظاهر ساده‌ترین و در عین حال عمیق‌ترین مفاهیم زندگی می‌کند.
گاهی کمی مکث کردن لازم است.

این کتاب رو خیلی دوست داشتم، زین‌پس به بچه‌های دوروبرم پیشنهادش خواهم داد.
هم داستانش جالب و بامزه بود، هم تصویراش خوب از آب در اومده بودن.
خوندنش می‌تونه برای بزرگ‌ترها هم مفید باشه حتی.

آبتین که پدرشو ناامید کرده یه کاری می‌کنه گذشتگانش با دیدنش لبخند بزنن، ولی با چه راهی؟ :)))

اولین باری که کتاب را خواندم دوستش نداشتم. این بار بیشتر دوستش داشتم البته از نگاه یک بزرگسال است. از کتاب‌هایی است که دوست دارم بدانم بچه‌ها چه تجربه‌ای از خواندنش دارند و آیا دوستش دارند یا نه؟ قصه خیلی جدی است و ماجرای آبتین است که مدام زیر سایۀ قهرمانی و اهمیت خانواده‌اش هست. خانواده‌ای که همگی قهرمان هستند و او هیچ شباهتی به آن‌ها ندارد. تصاویر خیلی خوب به قصه کمک کردند و این فشار را نشان می‌دهند. انگار آبتین یک موجود کوچولو است. تصویرسازی دالوند زیبا است اما عجیب که دوستش ندارم. فکر آبتین و پایان داستان واقعاً دل آدم را خنک می‌کند و یک «آخیش!» باحال احتمالاً بعدش می‌گوییم.

I enjoyed where this story was going but felt incomplete where it left off. I feel like it needed some kind of resolution between the son and the father, whether it was the son articulating that he was going to follow his own dreams (versus following in the rest of his families' footsteps in becoming a champion athlete) or his father understanding that perhaps this dream wasn't making anyone in the family happy. Maybe we're to take those messages simply from the illustrations, but if that's the case I feel the illustrations needed to give more to the reader for that to suffice. Either way, a good book to use when discussing issues of family or cultural expectations and being true to yourself.

Abtin Moleskis is distinctly different from his family and under pressure to conform. His family expects Abtin to become a great athlete like them. Despite the challenges, Abtin finds the strength to be himself.

Champ, translated from Farsi, sparks conversations about individuality, authenticity, self-acceptance, the pressures of conformity, self-discovery, and standing up for who you truly are.

Love love love this story about not meeting other people’s expectations and being true to yourself. Also very funny.

Sticking out in a family and being yourself. Can you win?

Abtin can't win. Every member of his family is a champion athlete, and want him to be just like them. But we see he's not built that way - he draws, he paints, he can't BE what they push him towards.

As the book progresses, the scowls of Abtin's family become deeper, their bodies bigger and more dominating, though Abtin continues to defy their commands and live his life how he feels happy.

It all comes to a head when Abtin tries the only way he knows how to make them happy by using their tools to help with his own method... which will give the reader a laugh, if not a full conclusion.

Stylistically different, standing out, the message is one readers may have seen before, but a message coming from Iran, with names that ring different will radiate that families can be the same the world over - problematic!

I would like to have more stories telling of Abtin's journey, he's a brave individual that readers will connect with.

Oh how I love non-American picture books and their lack of overbearing morals and resolutions. This is a powerful message, but it doesn't feel the need to tell us that.
