Misha and Borys sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G …

Misha falls in lust at first sight with the big, sexy bear shifter, but she doesn’t have time for his mating nonsense. Raised in Russia by tiger shifters, she came to America to follow up on her first real lead for finding her biological family.

Borys wants the smokin’ hot bear who recently wandered into town. Now all he has to do is convince Misha that she’s meant to be his. The stubborn woman won’t give him the time of day, though, saying she’s looking for her kin.

His biggest problem? He might be the family she’s looking for.

This is a standalone novella in Celia Kyle’s Grayslake: More Than Mated Kindle World! You do not have to read any of the corresponding books in this world to enjoy it.

Ok sometimes I read a book and say that it's a fun read but this time when I say that I'm absolutely not kidding. This had me smiling so much because the author allowed her characters to be just downright crazy ! Can I say I'm overloaded by the cuteness of it all?
Misha is our bear heroine and there's a sadness to her admittedly but her journey to find possible family sure does come with consequences. Now luckily her very protective, adopted aunt is along for the ride and can I say that shifter just cracked me up? From her peculiar phrasing to her often inappropriate comments that lady just shone. So there's Misha tracking down a possible cousin when out of nowhere there's a bear sniffing her, declaring she's his cookie oh and did I mention he just might be related? Yep when things get complicated in the Greyslake world they do it in style. Such loveable characters and a fabulous addition to this world. Final thoughts are its very short but disengage brain and go with the flow because it's fun with a capital F!
This is a voluntary review of an arc copy and is my honest opinion

Oh my! I do love these kindle world books. Again Jessie Lane had me laughing because of a crazy relative, Aunt Arina is a hoot!
The story goes Misha has been raised by tigers now she is back in the states looking to see information about her real BEAR family that she lost when she was a child. When her Aunt tags along things turn more funny because she has no filter and just says what is on her mind. When she gets to meet Borys the man who might be her cousin things turn a different direction because he wants his cookie and she happens to be THE cookie. After the misunderstanding, these two are able spend time and its just romance after that. I wish she would have found her family but she did gain a clan so it turned out good for her.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm starting by stating that Jessie Lane is one funny lady! I laughed through the book. It was cute. Misha is a bear shifter but was found at a young age at a horrible circus and was abused. She was rescued by Russian tiger shifters or 1 in particular. More like a mom to her but she calls her Aunt Arina and she's a character. Funniest part in the book was with her! Oh...gawd the embarrassment poor Misha suffered with that one. Slap to the ass...in a room full of bear shifters. Ha. Anyways, she has come to America to find her family who was thought dead. I think they are but she finds a cousin who might be related. Borys is a loner and likes to keep to himself. He's a member of Grayslake clan but still he's a loner. He's a bit abrasive and rough around the edges. Cranky sometimes. Until he smells her. He calls her cookie and thinks she has cookies and he comes to find out its her he's smelling. Its really quite humorous and cute as hell. Misha is not receptive at first to being mates but after getting to the bottom of things she can't deny fate. Cute story and I enjoyed it.

Bears Do It Better had me laughing out loud. Borys, spelled with a y not an i, is a great shifter character. He is so unlike any other I have read about. He is an alpha, he is a bear shifter, and he is hilarious. Misha is a bear shifter raised by Tiger shifters. Of course, DUH!, the attraction has to be there. From the minute Borys got out of the car and smelled cookies I knew this relationship would amazing.

While sometimes I feel like there should be more to a relationship than just sex, with Borys and Misha it just was so right. In the shifter world finding your mate is rare and something most shifters really hope to find. The sex in the shifter world is always hot, steamy, and earth shaking exactly what happen between Borys and Misha. It was perfect!

Jessie Lane wrote the perfect novella for the More than Mated Kindle World.

I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review. I am new to Jessie Lane's writing but not to the Grayslake world that Celia established for us to enjoy. I have to say Ms. Lane did a fab job bringing new characters to Grayslake and in such a fun way. The humour was a perfect balance to the seriousness of Mischa looking for her family roots in the U.S. The tiger shifters from Russia will hopefully show up again in what I hope is a future story for Auntie Arina. Her character is a hoot with her outlook on life and she was a perfect companion to Mischa on her journey. This needs to hit your TBR list if you're looking for humour, hot romance and some Russian tiger sayings, or claws, that will keep everyone on their toes!

Review originally posted at RabidReads.com.

This is a short story that is written in the world of Grayslake series, originally written by Celia Kyle. It was a series that I really loved. The series is full of snark, romance, and some tough topics, but in a way that I found very fun. I wasn’t sure what I would think about additional books in this world written by authors that I’m not familiar with. This is my second book to read from an author besides Kyle.

I’ve never read Jessie Lane before starting this story. It is a short story, so I don’t get the full depth of her writing. This story was a cute one, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first one I read. The characters in this story aren’t very complex. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t like them.

The character that I liked the most was Misha’s “aunt”. Misha is a bear that was raised by tigers. The tigers found a young shifter bear cub in a traveling circus in Russia. They rescued the bear and raised her as their own. Misha comes back to Grayslake, Georgia to find some of her biological family. They’re assuming that her parents were killed by the circus.

The big thing that got to me was the instalove (quick even for fated mates story). Borys no sooner steps on the same property as Misha and he’s running head long for her. Also, he said that she smelled like cookies and kept calling her that. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love cookies, but I would never barrel through a group of people and climb a tree saying “cookie, cookie, cookie” the entire time. He kinda reminded me of the Cookie Monster.

Anyway, it was a cute story. The aunt had some really great lines, even if she did have a hard time with the English language (her sentence structure tended to be way off). I would love to learn a lot more about her. Lastly, I think ever famous bear from cartoons is mentioned. Yogi, Boo-Boo, Winnie-the-Pooh, Baloo. They are all used at some point in this story.

This was his day off after working overtime with the lawn care business he owned. He wanted to lay around, watch things blow up on the television, and be lazy for the rest of the day, which was why he decided that the next idiot who knocked on his door and interrupted his day of hibernation was going to end up with a bucket of fertilizer over their head.

Of course Auntie Arina took the choice right out of her hands when she asked the oversized male leader, “You bears eat a lot of these honey rolls? Like that Pooh of the Winnie with his head stuck in the honey pot?”

So if you look up my reviews (on Amazon) you will see a pattern…. Most of them are either 4 or 5 stars or 1 star. I usually only feel the urge to tell people about books if the books are really great or really BAD. My point is…. please don’t think I am a reader who just rubber stamps (gives high stars) to anything I have been given an ARC (advance reader copy) of because most of my reviews are 4 or 5 stars. I don’t. In fact, I stopped accepting ARCs a little while ago from just about everyone. I had run into a couple of books that I didn’t like but didn’t hate... so I didn't feel the need to try to save people from experiencing it. I read the other reviews (most of them 4 or 5 stars) for the books and thought it was just a matter of taste. These books just weren’t my cup of tea. I didn’t know what I should do… reviews really effect how well a book sells… and I didn’t want to be the reason they didn’t do well. I have talked to several people (authors included) and the general consensus was that the authors would probably prefer I didn’t leave a 2 star or a 3 star (if I was feeling generous) review. (I know they say they just want an honest review but really... who wants a mediocre review?) So even though I owed the author a review I didn’t write one.
A couple of months ago, Celia Kyle ended up asking if I would like ARCs of her books…. Come on, people… Celia Kyle!!! I couldn’t say no. I was going to buy her books anyway (I LOVE her books) and all I had to do was write a review in order to get them for free??? I couldn’t say no. (I felt safe. All of the books, at that point, I had read from her were at least 4 star reads.) Recently, Ms. Kyle emails me and asks if I would like ARCs from 2 of her friends who are writing in her Grayslake World. (Kindle World series) Trusting she wouldn’t send me anything that was bad… I bit the bullet and said yes.
I am SO glad I did. I now have two more authors to add to my good author list. Flora Dare and Jessie Lane.
I was thoroughly entertained by this book. I ABSOLUTELY ADORED… LOVED it. I will never eat an oatmeal cookie again without snickering. I tend to like books that not only have a good story line but can make me laugh. I don’t like dark… depressing… angst ridden books. Real life has enough bad things in it… why would I want to spend my time reading about more bad things? For a little while, I want to forget about the stresses of real life. I want to chuckle, grin, giggle… laugh. This book made me do all of that. After I binge read the books written by Flora Dare (the other author Ms. Kyle introduced me to) I plan on checking out the books written by Jessie Lane. Love an author who can lighten my day. I highly recommend this book.
Other authors I can suggest… Mina Carter (you can’t go wrong with anything written by her), Milly Taiden (tons of sexy shifter romances), Gail Koger (sci-fi romance… Vexing Voss is literally a LAUGH OUT LOUD book), Nikki Winter (I haven’t read her contemporary books but What A Bear Wants, What A Bear Needs, Beastly Desires and Beastly Passions are shifter romances with TONS of humor), Kelly Lucille… she has several series from sci-fi romances to dragon-shifter romances to just plain old HOT shifter romances… and, of course, Celia Kyle… she has large collection of books… most include not only steamy scenes but lots of LOL moments.
Happy Reading!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Misha is a bear shifter that was raised by tigers shifters in Russia. The pride found her in a human circus trapped in her bear form. They believe the circus may be responsible for her parent's disappearance. The pride took her in and raised Misha like their own, but Misha has always felt incomplete. She found a newspaper article that featured a young family that went missing, this was her only clue found about her parents and was able to find one possible relative after some investigating. Misha and her Aunt Arina have traveled to the States to the Grayslake clan in search of that relative. She is searching for a cousin, Borys Anderson. Her Aunt Arina is hilarious but she is also very protective of Misha. She tries to break the ice and make Misha relax about meeting with the American bears. The aunt says some very uncommon and humorous statements that sometimes offend the bears. Misha is granted an audience with Ty the Grayslake Itan and explains what brought her to the States.
Then next thing poor Misha knows is after she eats some honey rolls some odd man climbs a tree and is making out with her. The moment stalls when they fall out of the tree, then Ty informs he that the man kissing her is the relative she came looking for. Misha is very taken back and shocked. This was not what she expected to find. But, Misha is not the only one with a potential love match. Her Aunt Arina has a certain bear shifter sniffing around her as well.
Borys was sitting at home in his day of trying to relax when he gets a call saying the Itan wants to see him. Upon arrival he catches a scent, all he can think is cookie, cookie smell good, I want that cookie. What he finds is much more than he bargained for.

First read as part of the GRAYSLAKE–MORE THAN MATED UNIVERSE.
I have not laughed so much in ages. This book is brilliantly funny and a great read as well.
Loved the political dig at the beginning and I am an Aussie.
Auntie Arina was the star of this book, talking yoda-ish was hysterical, I could hear it in my head every time she did it. And her jokes about Yogi and Boo Boo was great. I just wished Mia (the Itana) had been there for that, she would have laughed her socks off too.
Borys and his COOKIE fetish throughout was lovely and when he first smelt Misha and followed her up the tree, oh god that was so funny.
Loved how the family dynamics were circumnavigated without breaking the plot. Wondered how that was going to be dealt with.
Then at the end when they were in Russia visiting the family and Borys with Babushka, I nearly peed myself laughing.
One of the best, most fun reads I have had in a long time that still managed to put a really good story together at the same time.
Ms Lane has managed a very good addition to this world but just not enough Grayslake bears for me, only a bit of Ty, no Mia and her mighty mouth and a couple of mentions of Paxton, but then I am a long-time fan of this series.
2020 addition
Reading this again I did wonder how Misha speaks English so well when she was raised in Russia?
Also, does poor Paxton have a mate in Irina or not?

This is my first book by Jessie Lane and most definitely will not be my last. I have not laughed this hard at a book in a while. The quirky humor was great. Every time someone says cookie, I think I might snicker.

I loved how Jessie Lane evened her book out with some seriousness of her leading lady headed back to Grayslake to find her remaining family with Misha finding her mate Borys. Neither expected to find their forever mate and with a little fate they did.

Borys Anderson's obsession with his mate smelling like the best cookie ever had me rolling. This man would do anything for Misha from the moment he smelled her. Misha, on the other hand, did not want to accept Borys as her mate at first.

I think one of the best scenes in this book is when Borys heads back to Russia to meet Misha's adopted family who just happens to be a bunch of Siberian tiger shifters. He had no idea just how different tigers were than bears. But bears do it better. Just ask him.

I really really want to read a book about aunt Arina. This quirky adopted aunt of Misha's had me rolling numerous times. This woman cracked me up and the fact that a bear wants her has her mate has got to be funny as sin.

This has got to be one of the funniest books I have read in a long time, really awesome. I am new to this author's work so I found it to be a pleasant surprise.
Borys lives in the USA and a bear shifter getting a call on his day off made him one grumpy bear but this Itan called him to come to his home and that was what her was going to do. When he got there this wonderful smell hit him and he took off after it. His bear came to the surface wanting what smelled like a cookie to him.
That's when he meet Misha and all that came out of his mouth was gimme the cookie lol OMG what an awesome scene.
Misha is s bear shifter raised by the Russian tiger shifter clan because they found her in the zoo and they couldn't find her family. Then she gets a clue about other family in the USA her aunt Arina comes with her so she will not go alone. While she didn't find her family she did find her fated mate.!
OMG this was great. There were parts I couldn't stop laughing. I lived the characters too their so lovable. I would highly recommend this book to any shifter fan.
Book given for an honest review and I honestly loved it.

This book is part of the Grayslake More Than Mated Series with each book featuring a different author. This book is by one of my favourite authors and it was an amazing read. Misha who is a bear shifter was orphaned very young and was rescued from a circus by a Russian tiger shifter Arina who brought her into their pride. Arina adopted Misha into her family and loved her like she was her own cub. The pride wanted her to mate and produce cubs but Misha was a bear shifter and she needed more than that. She craved a deeper connection that the pride men could not give her. She wanted to go to Grayslake and find the cousin she was sure she was related to. Her Aunt Arina was not about to let her go by herself. Misha is about to find out bear shifters are not at all like tiger shifters. They mate for life. This story is so entertaining, it has so many humorous parts you will just laugh. Aunty Arina is quite a character and I would love to see if she will have her own story. Thank you to Jessie Lane for the wonderful review copy. Highly Recommend this author and her books.

Cookie In A Tree?

Can you imagine a bear being raised by tigers? Well that's what happened to Misha in Russia and a loony bunch of tigers they are too!

Misha has a very strong desire to find her family, any family not because she doesn't love her adoptive family to death, as they do her, but because she feels deep down that she needs to. She discovers the only family she has left is an aunt and cousin in the US, so she sets out to meet them, with her looney Aunt Arina of course. Little did Misha ever suspect that the feeling deep down was leading her straight into the arms of her fated mate.

Bryon is just a bear minding his own business and suddenly he smells the most delicious cookie scent ever, his nose takes him straight up a tree, but how can a cookie be up in a tree?

This story is so much fun, I laughed so hard, my stomach hurt. The quirky way these Russian tigers talk is hillarious!

I loved this story!!! It was great! I love the characters and the humor in it! If you want a good, heart-warming, funny story than check this one out! Misha was is a bear shifter and was raised by Tiger shifters who saved her from the circus when she was a child. She is in Grayslake to try and find a connection to biological family, and boy does she! lol. This story is very well written and was started, you won't want to stop. It makes you laugh and keeps you entertained the entire time. I really enjoyed Misha and Borys and all the rest of the crew! This can definitely be read as a standalone even though it is part of the Grayslake Kindle world. The sex is explicit and just adds to the story. It is a shorter story and so a quick read but I had a great time reading it!

Grayslake: More than Mated: Bears Do It Better (Kindle Worlds Novella)
by Jessie Lane

"Auntie Arina:
Why did God only make one Yogi Bear?

Misha:
I don't know. Why?

Auntie Arina:
Because, when he tried to make a second one, he made a Boo-boo! Get it?
Boo-boo."

Yep.... this joke had me totally hooked!

Can't forget the Yoda impersonations either.....lol

Oh! and the "Gimme the Cookie." (said with a growl)

I don't think I have ever laughed so much! All before Chapter 5! And it only gets better from there!

I really do hope that there is book for Arina.

Omg so funny I loved it.

I love this series. This is Borys and Misha's book. Misha was found in a circus in her bear form when she was a little girl. Taken in and raised with the Russian tigers she's always wondered where her family was. When she finds an old newspaper clipping it leads her to Grayslake. Borys just wants to enjoy his day off when his Itan summons him he thinks he's in trouble. What he finds when he gets there is his cookie. Lol omg I so did enjoy this book so very much. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. I do hope that you give Misha's aunt her story I'd love to read that one to.

I loved Celia Kyle's Grayslake world, and I love that Jessie has added to it so seamlessly. This story was entertaining and enjoyable. It had depth and well written characters. It was funny and great light read. If you like PNR, then read this book, just don't do it with a full bladder, because there are parts that will have you laughing so hard you have to pee! Misha and Borys are fantastic. Misha's Aunt Arina is also a hoot!! I love the depth it adds to an already fantastic world, and that there's an opportunity for more books by Ms. Lane in the series without it leaving us hanging!! I'm just super excited that two of my favorite authors are teaming up!

COOKIE!!! Borys doesn't want much but to be left alone. And his Cookie! Misha has wanted nothing in her life except to find her family. She loves her current family very much. So will America, bears, and Borys be overwhelming for her?

Bears do it Better was humorous in playing the differences between Greyslake bears and Russian cats. Although Misha's aunt had me in stitches. I loved her! She cut right through everything. I found myself telling her jokes to my family. They didn't laugh as hard as I did, but that's ok.

Misha & Borys did do it better along with the rest of the clan and Aunt Arina.

Misha came to America to find her past. Orphaned at a young age and adopted by a pride of Siberian Tiger shifters in Russia, the near shifter has always felt a bit...out of place. With the reluctant agreement of her pride family Misha and her aunt journey to Greys Lake in order to find her cousin. The only living relative she may have. What she finds? Thats a whole other story.

This is my confession: Can I just tell you? I. Love. Jessie. Lane's. Shifters. This book is no exception. The humor was great. Borys's reaction to Misha was PERFECT. I cant wait for the next one.

This was a very funny book!
It was nice to get a glimpse of Ty + Mia.
Misha, a werebear, came to America to meed her cousin. His is her only living relative.
Her parents were killed when she was young.
She was adopted by a family of were-tigers.
Lover conquer stripes!
Surprise! Surprise!
When Misha meets her cousin, he is her fated mate. The horror!
Then we found out that Borys is not actually related by blood to Misha.
His father married her aunt. What a relief!
Misha;s aunt Irina is super funny.
I hope that she will get her own book.

I loved this book. There were a few scenes that had me laughing out loud especially when Borys went looking for his cookie. And Aunt Arina with her garbled English reminds me of another Russian tiger created by this author. My only complaint about this book would be it that wasn't long enough. Borys and Misha make a great double act and, of course, I need to know if Paxton finds out whether Aunt Arina is a bad girl or not

Jessie Lane had me laughing out loud with this book, Aunt Arina was just the perfect amount of crazy needed. The characters were really thought out and the story moved at a fast pace. I enjoyed the story with it's twists, fated mate or family? What really made the story for me was the development of the story.

I recommend this book for a fast paced read. Great job, Jessie Lane!

I hope to read more about this couple and their families. Highly Recommended!
