It takes a special blend of insanity and courage to answer the call to become a U.S. federal agent. CIA officer Charlotte “Chase” Moreno is equal parts crazy and brave, and she always—always—gets her guy.
Ex-pat and DEA Special Agent Jonathan Harper has a flawless record for bringing down criminals, but at home, his world revolves around his nine-year-old daughter. Balancing fatherhood with a deep love for his job is a constant battle, and meeting the beautiful and mysterious Chase in Las Vegas while undercover wasn’t in the cards.
Chase vows never to work with a partner again after her last one died a year and a half ago on a mission. But their respective agencies urge her and Jon to put their heads together in order to bring down an international drug and weapons syndicate.
There’s one tiny problem: they can’t stand each other.
But as the case and their personal lives—and baggage—become more tightly entwined, it’s impossible for either of them to deny their growing attraction.
However, duty calls...and it always comes first. If it doesn’t, it could cost them the case.
I had high hopes for this book. The description and reviews sounded great. Unfortunately I did not like Chase. AT. ALL. She is the sole reason I stopped reading this book so early on. I enjoyed the plot, I can see Harper being a great character. Chase was like a gut punch to me. I get what the author was probably going for. A young, strong, super smart independent agent who got crap done. What I saw was a selfish woman who didn’t cate who she stepped on or how it would affect them as long as she got her way. There are 2 prime examples (and even more available in all of 20% of this book.) 1. First time she ever meets him she plants a microphone button on him. She thinks he isn’t wired bc he’s going to meet with 2 dangerous Russian drug dealers and a wire would be deadly to him. So she takes it upon herself to add that danger to the operation without him knowing about it. She’s reckless and careless with another persons life. That is just plain cold hearted, no honor or strength in that at all. 2. She promises a girl she will expunge her record without consulting anyone about it then ORDERS her temporarily partner Harper to take care of it and gives him a 24 hour deadline
“Then I’m sure you can find yourself indebted to one of them.” Chase gathered up her purse. “I really don’t give a shit how you do it, Harper. I want this girl’s record clean by tomorrow.”
If she’s so willing to not follow the rules and do things her way she should be the one paying the consequences. Owing someone a favor not again the innocent man she threw under the bus. I just had no desire to read about a woman like this. It pissed me off. This selfish attitude that seems to be so readily accepted as being strong. Bull shit that’s not strength. Not even a little. She was cold, heartless and selfish.
I was given this book to read, and I am very grateful for that! I wasn't sure what to expect from the title. Wynter doesn't let you down with a fast moving plot, great character development, and surprises. Chase is as hardcore a heroin as you would want in a book like this but she is definitely not one dimensional. The heat between the characters only adds more to it without it being the reason for the book. Sometimes authors let the book get away from being a great story by focusing too much on how the main people feel about each other. This felt like it was on the level with real life except throw in some Vegas craziness, lot of Russians, and a sexy Englishman. Haha The author did an amazing job blending action and story yet there's still so much more to tell that you can't wait for the next book. I'm excited to read more from this author and can't wait to see what else happens.
I completely love strong tough women and Chase was all of that. Harper was a enchanting man, tough, protective who is a also a great father. I loved the action to catch a dangerous international drug and weapons group. There was a lot of fights, blood and pain. Where the story lost me was when this strong woman started to act crazy and doing insanely stupid things. It made me mad that she was so great and then stupid. I had to put the book down, I lost all motivation to continue. Weeks later I had to make myself finish so I could move on to another book. Beautiful start, disappointing 3/4 th in but I did finish it. HE A, no cliffhanger and full novel.
Once I started reading, I couldn’t put this book down! I needed to know what happens to CIA officer Charlotte “Chase” Moreno and DEA Special Agent Jonathan Harper, both personally and within their jobs.
I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen between these two strong and independent characters. Were they going to come out alive? Fall in love? The line between being professionals and being personal was really getting smaller and smaller, and I loved every minute of it!
Lots of action packed into this book, as well as two great characters and a spectacular storyline. Hopefully Wynter S.K. has more up her sleeve with these characters!
Intrigue, suspense, and spine tingling danger follow two agents, Jon and Chase as the chase Russian drug dealing, gun smuggling terrorists from the streets of Los Angeles to the bright lights of Las Vegas. As the two work together to complete their assignment a smoldering romance builds to a fiery climax as they discover their love for each other. The danger heightens as those close to them are threatened by the Russians. If you like a good spy story, if you love romance or if you are into suspense this well written story is a must read. You will be riveted in your seat from the first page to the last. I highly recommend this book.
I loved this bingeworthy book and all the terrific characters, but especially Chase, who was allowed to be both kick-*ss and an actual human being. And Harper was drool-worthy too, yum. The plot was great, and there were plenty of interesting twists/developments, and lots of impressive fighting as well. Trust, sacrifice, determination, courage, justice, unsung heroes, family issues, choices/consequences, patriotic duty, strong women, obligations, friendship, sorrow, hope, and love were some of the major underlying themes in this very promising start to what looks to be an enticing new series.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This is the first book I have read by Wynter and I loved it! She is an amazing writer who writes very vividly and so clear you can see the entire story unfolding before you. Her characters are realistic and relatable. I loved Chase Monroe and Jonathan Harper, each are extremely independent and excellent at what they do but when they have to work together let the sparks fly! I love how this story hooked me from the beginning and kept me turning the pages because I had to find out what happened and how it ended.
Wynter SK delivers again! Page after page I was captivated by these two characters, Charlotte "Chase" Moreno and Jonathan Harper. The will they/won't they romance storyline is expertly weaved among the thrills of their dangerous careers. I found myself experiencing their emotions right along with them. This isn't your average, predictable romance novel. Wynter SK has packed in enough twists and turns to keep you guessing - and wanting more! I'd highly recommend this to anyone.
This was a book that has it all. Suspense, mystery, romance, emotions. It is fast paced and a smooth read. I was pulled in from the start and it kept my interest through the whole thing. The storyline and the characters were great. The side characters added to the story too. Jonathan and Chase had such great chemistry, hot and steamy. I enjoyed this must read. I received it from booksprout and voluntarily reviewed it.
A CIA agent and a DEA agent have a chat with some Russians in a men’s room . . . .
Their beginnings were enticing but a bit angry, their attraction mutual but unwanted and a bit irritating. The work together grows more complicated as they grow closer and the danger grows
Hot and complicated might be wicked fun - or maybe just wicked complicated and wicked lethal
Intense drama and action

The Mood for Trouble is the first book in the An Agent Provocateur series and is a great start to this series.
I loved this book and found the characters to be well developed, interesting, and likable. The storyline is well written and captured my interest from the start, with warring agents, danger, suspense, chemistry, and a chance for romance.
I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
She is a CIA agent and she is called to be a federal agent. He sees her while he is undercover and he cares for his daughter. The bosses want them to work together but they cannot stand each other. Can they work together? Will it become more? Follow them to see

What a disappointment! I love female MCs who are strong and feisty. But here, the h is just insolent, pissy, and patronizing. I like the male MC but I do not get his attraction for the h. It also seems farfetched that someone as reckless as the h, who has compromised many of their operations, would be allowed to continue to lead them.

The characters are well developed and engaging with loads of chemistry. The storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end with plenty to keep me turning the pages. Charlotte and Jon are both in law enforcement Nd when they meet can’t stand each other. I had a great time reading this book.

The lead she being a CIA agent acted like a stupid petulant girl. It was unbelievable how stupidly she acted, so I couldn’t stop eye rolling at her antics. It was an okay read lots of fight scenes which was cool, but her attitude annoyed me throughout. Having said all that it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve read and it was a quick read thankfully.
OMMFG I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK AND AM SO GLAD IT WILL BE A SERIES!! Love our MC's they are amazing!! Soo much action, love, and wee bit of 😢!! So good!!
At times this book had me on the edge of my seat other times it had me fanning myself. I would recommend this to anyone looking for espionage, action, and romance!
I fell for this author when I read her Pas de Deux series. It's an all time favorite. This book took a whole different tone and the writing is still superb. The romance is very much a light element on this one. Whole the romantic, sexual tension is high the suspense of the story takes precedent. I still enjoyed reading because I needed to know what would happen.
This story was captivating. I couldn't stop reading!! Chase is such an intriguing character and Jon is just so dreamy. I hope that there are more stories to come for these two!!!
The Mood for Trouble by Wynter S.K. is an amazing story by an author I never read before this story. The Mood for Trouble (Agent Provocateur Book 1) by Wynter S.K. is a fast paced, sexy, spy novel!
Charlotte “Chase” Moreno is an incredibly brave, smart, dedicated woman who knows how to kick a$$. She is a CIA Officer and travels the world for her job pretty much all of the time. She rarely sees her family and doesn’t really have any friends. She is truly dedicated to her job.
Jonathan Harper is a DEA Special Agent. He finds himself in Las Vegas during an undercover operation with a Russian crime family. While at the location of the meeting a sexy brunette approaches him at the bar. Little does he know, that sexy brunette would change his life and save his case.
Chase and Harper are two people who have pretty much been wholly focused on their careers for all of their adult lives. What happens when the lines start to blur? Can they each make room for something and someone else in their lives?
I absolutely loved the characters and the plot line of this story! It hooks you right from the beginning and you won’t want to put it down! I cannot wait for more from Wynter S.K.!
I received this book from Fallen for Books in exchange for my honest opinion of the book. All I can say is WOW! I loved this book! It takes a lot for me to give a book a five star rating and I have no problems giving this book five stars. I love the plot line of two strong characters and their chemistry. The book swaps between the two main character's points of view. There was no confusion and I really liked the build between the characters and the chemistry was also there but, the reader was able to feel the build between the characters without it being blatant. The suspense of the book was nice and loved the edginess of it! You never knew if the main characters would be safe or what was going to happen next. I also liked the fact the author does not "ramble" and give useless details to make a book longer. The author stays on task and writes what needs to be known to keep the book interesting and flowing. It was definitely one I would recommend to anyone!
