From tropical islands to desert mountains, the hunt is on! Predators--the hunters from the stars--have been coming to Earth since time immemorial, stalking and killing the strongest, most challenging humans for sport. But now the tables are turning as a team of human hunters set their sights on the Predators--wherever they may be found.
In their first mission, the Predator Hunters located their quarry in the South Pacific. This time they've journeyed to a warzone in Afghanistan--and are competing with a mysterious government agency that is after the same prey. Only the strongest and smartest will survive!
Writer Chris Warner (the artist from the original Predator comics from 1989) teams with artist Agustin Padilla for a blood-drenched adventure in the Graveyard of Empires!
Most Predator comics have become formulaic and that trend continues here. Insert a Predator into a location he hasn't been in before, have him kill some army types before getting blown up himself. Rinse. Wash. Repeat. This time the Predator is in Afghanistan and the crew from the first Predator: Hunters series goes after him. Agustin Padilla's art is very solid.
Received a review copy from Dark Horse and Edelweiss. All thoughts are my own and in no way influenced by the aforementioned.
A solid and decent sequel to Dark Horse's smash-hit Predator: Hunters mini-series set in war torn Afghanistan.
Not bad at all if you have a thing for Predator classic action-packed tales and artworks were really good, but originality and twists just took a vacation from here.
Predator Hunter's continues to be a fine comic. The story in this volume felt a lot more put together and characters are now starting to have an impact. The art in the volume is absolutely gorgeous.
I see some reviewers calling this formulaic and I guess to a degree they aren't wrong, but for me there's something comfortable about the familiar.
That being said, this isn't 100% cookie-cutter and to claim otherwise is oversimplification, in my opinion. According to the foreword, Warner has been writing Predator stories since the 80s or 90s. He's no rookie to the IP and it shows.
I love this art. It's calm and serene when it needs to be and frenetic and vibrant for the action sequences.
I did a quick search and Hunters III has two issues out so far. Once the whole thing is available I think I'll be soaking that one up, too.
Read part 1 last year and have no memory at all. This one was better and a good concept for a film in the series. Characterisation and art really good and the idea of the predator as a metaphor for the harshness of Afghanistan wasn’t lost on me.
“Sometimes I feel that Afghanistan is more a punishment that a nation which is why is it strange that these powerful nations keep coming back again and again to crash upon the rocks. America. Russia. The British. Alexander. Afghanistan had nothing. The nations that come here have everything but they leave with nothing”
Rinse and repeat, exactly the same as last volume.
The team this time go to Afghanistan, where the predator is killing terrorists. Yeah I don’t see the problem here, clearly the predator is much more evil than people who slaughter thousands of innocent people.
Personal opinion about that aside, yeah we got the same as last volume. You know what you’re getting into none of the characters progress or come up with any interesting ideas, why they call themselves the “elite” is beyond me as don’t seem very good at hunting.
