This book is a great example of how my taste in books has changed quite a bit over the last couple years. This one was one of my favorite books and I reread it quite often. I still enjoyed it a lot, but not a solid 5 star like it was previously. It’s a very sweet small-town romance with a really entertaining suspenseful plot, which is exactly my what I want from my books lol. I’m also such a sucker for an age gap and a main character in law enforcement. Older sheriff MMC and the sweet girl next door? Really works for me.

He shook his head. “So that’s how old you are? Twenty-five?” “Twenty-six now.” She raised her head to look at him, staring up into those impossibly blue eyes. “How old are you?” “Thirty-eight.” His eyes danced with humor. “Too old for you?” She laughed softly. “No.” “Good.”
Buried Lies is a romantic suspense/thriller with a serial killer and several side stories (ancillary characters in the series who are main characters in the other Crimson Point books). The premise for the story was a good one, and I mostly enjoyed both the romantic element and the "who done it" aspect as it was a bit of a bait and switch (mild spoiler that doesn't really give anything away --- you think you know because another one is too obvious, but then you get a twist you didn't see coming).
Poppy is new to town, having escaped a shadowy past, and something about Crimson Point draws her to it, so she decides to set up both home and shop (bookstore/cafe/bakery) within it. Her next door neighbor just happens to be the very sexy sheriff (Noah), and the interest is subtly mutual. They finally decide to see if there is more to their relationship than friends, but there are forces unbeknownst to either that will seek to rip them apart.
What I liked: - the plot was interesting; the premise engaging; draws the reader in quickly - minimal angst in terms of the couple's relationship - steamy goodness level was at the right balance for me - the other characters in the book (1 couple were featured in the first book of the series; the others are planned for subsequent installments) were more present than in most books I have read like this one (meaning that there was a lot more attention to things happening outside the main couple's relationship), and their stories were pretty juicy, so the integration of them so significantly into this story seems to have been intended to hook the reader for the longer term
What I didn't like as much: - For me, the relationship went from 0-60 way too fast in terms of the feelings that developed between the main couple; hopping into bed is one thing - deciding that this is the person for you the rest of your life in that short a time span seemed a little forced (Noah is 38 and Poppy is 26)--- I like an HEA as much as the next reader, but it didn't need to be quite that quick, imo, because of the age/life experience gap and especially since the reader is informed that Noah was cheated on and left high and dry by a former fiancee -Re the serial killer -- semi- - There is all this "drama" about Poppy's past that builds up but really ends up being nothing more than high school-level drama --- not something I would expect such emphasis on in a book about a more mature 26 year old female MC as the author describes her
Overall, a worthwhile read if you like some twists and turns in your romantic suspense novels. I felt like the author wrote this one with the specific goal of hooking the reader with the side stories so that he/she would be interested in continuing on in the series.
Plot --- 3/5 Main Characters --- 4/5 Supporting Cast --- 4/5 Steamy Goodness --- 3.5/5 Violence --- Yes - with possible domestic violence triggers (related to the supporting characters, not the main ones in this story) Language --- Not egregious POV --- 3rd but slanted by the MC points of view and the serial killer's at times
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
When Poppy Larsen moved to Crimson Point, she was hoping to make a brand new start and leave her painful past behind. She’s just opened a brand new business that is becoming a success and not only is she becoming a part of the town, she’s gaining friends which is something that doesn’t come easy for her. She’s also starting a relationship and learning to trust her sweet and sexy new neighbor, who just also happens to be the town sheriff.
Noah Buchanan can’t help but be intrigued by his gorgeous new neighbor. Hardworking and sweet as the pie she makes, she has a big heart even if she seems a bit shy and slow to trust. Noah can tell she has been burned in the past, and his protective instincts are off the hook. But, he also loves that Poppy can take care of herself.
Both Poppy and Noah are enjoying exploring their budding relationship and newfound trust. However, a deadly threat has Poppy in its sights and it will be up to Noah to stop the killer from making Poppy his latest victim.
Holy Moly!!!!! Buried Lies is full of pulse pounding adventure that arcs through more than one storyline. And, even though I had my suspicions, watching the story play out caused me a whole lot of reader anxiety in the best of ways!
Poppy is simply a phenomenal character. She is so strong to overcome her past. Noah is absolutely perfect for her. He’s so patient, kind and understanding it’s no wonder he gains her trust and love. They are a super sweet couple that I loved watching fall further and further in love.
While the main couple in this book is Poppy and Noah, we also continue following Molly and Carter’s story, which continues to be heartbreaking. Kudos to the author for handling sensitive topics such as traumatic brain injuries and PTSD with absolute grace and realism.
While you can read Buried Lies as a stand alone, I suggest starting with book one, Fractured Honor to get the back story of the characters as these couples are interwoven into one another’s lives and stories. Crimson Point is a fabulous small town that always comes together when it needs to and Buried Lies demonstrates the amazing qualities of everything a small town has to offer . . . . as well as gives readers a romantic suspense that truly delivers! 5 stars.
Review copy was received from Publicity team. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Continuing the Crimson Point series, we have Sierra's brother, Noah, who was Beckett's best friend growing up. He was not in the military but is the local sheriff. Poppy is his new neighbor in the cottage next door. The cottages are very near the ocean.
Poppy, despite difficulties in her past, is a ray of sunshine. She works hard. She's patient, kind and caring. I liked her. She opens a cafe/ bookshop. What could be better? I love hearing about her food and her books. Poppy doesn't want to open up to any man, but Noah isn't any man.
There's a serial killer on the loose plus people from Poppy's past. The suspense, in addition to the sexual tension, had me on the edge. Happily, there are the warm circle of friends, Beckett and Sierra, with the others from the first book, Fractured Honor, to add connections and more layers.
I loved Buried Lies! I was rooting for Poppy and her fresh start. I cried for her more than once. I'm all in now with these great characters and Crimson Point. I'm waiting for Shattered Vows releasing January 22, 2019.
"You got any chocolate around here?"
She gave him a funny look. "Of course I have chocolate."
5 Star Buried Lies She moved to Crimson Point and made a new life for herself, one full of bright possibilities and if Poppy can find the courage to trust again – even her gorgeous neighbor, the town sheriff. Noah can’t help but be intrigued by his new neighbor, she’s hard working, sexy and unlike most of the women in town, she hasn’t thrown herself at him. But darkness lurks in Crimson Point, concealing a deadly threat that’s closer than either of them ever imagined.
The author has created a great community with lots of strong characters that readers can look forward to getting to know which makes a great setting for multiple stories and this one is not only engaging but quite suspenseful and moving as well. The romance between Noah and Poppy has lots of chemistry flowing from the pages as well emotions as Noah tries to win Poppy’s heart who had a very traumatic childhood. Noah is a sexy hero with a tender heart that makes his courtship of Poppy super sweet and very touching.
The plot is fast paced and full of thrilling suspense and adrenaline pumping excitement as Noah has a serial killer case he’s working on with the FBI and then there are exciting events that not only get the juices flowing but helps Poppy become part of the community she wants to fit into. With the danger lurking closer than they know, some surprising twists, the turbulent relationship between another couple and the growing passion between Noah and Poppy, there is never a dull moment and readers will find themselves glued to the pages of this exhilarating read.
3.8 Stars Buried Lies by Kaylea Cross is book Two in the Crimson Point series. This is the story of Sheriff Noah Buchanan and Poppy Larsen. I haven't yet read the previous book so for me this was a standalone book. Poppy has just moved to Crimson Point to start a new life after her mother's death and to get away from the Town Bullies. Poppy finds she is attracted to her neighbor Noah but tries to stay clear of it after what she lived through in her home town. But their budding friendship starts heading toward a relationship that she can't stop. Noah finds Poppy hard to resist and her not being like the other women who chase him makes her all the more desirable. But this book does have a killer on the loose that starts looking at Poppy.
FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH INKSLINGER PR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
After reading the first book in this series, I went into this story with high hopes and I wasn't disappointed! OMG, this story was amazing!
First and foremost, I loved the suspense angle of this story! It was totally creepy, and shocked the heck out of me! My only complaint was that I wanted to know more of the serial killer's motivations for starting down that path. "The Monster Inside" just wasn't good enough for me, even with guessing about his mother.
Poppy was my kind of heroine! I loved how strong she was, and how kind-hearted she was despite her past. I especially liked how she persevered despite the negativity from the people in her old hometown. I loved how Crimson Point rallied around her!
I really liked Noah as the hero...he wasn't too alpha, nor was he too hyped up on being a police officer. He was relatable and approachable to me, and more importantly, I liked how loyal he was to his former comrades in arms. We got to see more of the conflict between Molly and Carter, and saw that finally come to a boiling point, which makes me eager to read Molly's story!
All in all, a wonderful installment in the series!
While this is the second book in the series, I was easily able to read this as a stand alone. However, I absolutely adored the characters in this book and now I want to go back and read the first book! Kaylea Cross has written a terrific novel with the perfect balance of romance and some rather intense suspense. And while I had my suspicions on who was the bad guy, I ended up being completely wrong. Never, saw that one coming but then either did the sheriff! There was more to this story than the growing romance between Noah and Poppy, this book was also setting the stage for the next book featuring Molly. All in all a terrific read that I had difficulty putting down.
Noah Buchanan and Poppy Larsen are next in line after Sierra and Beckett to get their HEA, as Kaylea Cross sets up a series that’s gentler than the fare she typically offers up and is a bit more focused on family and friendship where reaffirmation and new starts bound.
Poppy/Noah’s story is easy to read, though more predictable than I thought. Frankly, Poppy/Noah weren’t exactly standout protagonists that imprint themselves indelibly in my memory and neither was the suspense that I was hoping would leave me gasping in the wake of its high-octane fumes. I couldn’t quite tell what Noah found special about Poppy—after being a serial dater after having been dumped by his fiancée years ago—but that he suddenly wanted everything with her made it bewildering, more so because Cross uses the experienced man (or player?) versus the inexperienced woman trope here and made me cringe, even with the understandable circumstances that Poppy had found herself in.
‘Buried Lies’ ended up as a middle-of-the-road type of read for me, but thankfully it’s not enough for me to give up on this series, though it’s probably more suited to readers who prefer romances that aren’t always going full-steam ahead with the world’s fate hanging in balance.

The Baddie. One of the most important elements of a mystery or romantic-suspense plot is how to deal with the Baddie. Do you disclose them up front and build the suspense? Or, do you keep them hidden and build both the suspense and mystery? I, personally, prefer a hidden Baddie and I have no clue who the Baddie is and I love it! The one element of this plot that I didn't like is how Carter, the vet with TBI, was treated. If not for that, this would have been a 5-Star read.
Poppy Larsen has moved to Crimson Point on the Oregon Coast to make it her new home, hoping to leave her past behind. But Fate has a way of following you no matter where you go. She has worked hard to open a new business, establish herself in the community and bought a lovely cottage to make her new home. Her next door neighbor is the hot Sheriff, but she has no plans to make a move in that direction, she just wants the peace and serenity her new life offers.
Sheriff Noah Buchanan is amazed at the amount of work his new neighbor is putting into her new business and home. That she is just as sexy is a plus. Her willingness to give of herself to others just seals the deal and Noah finds himself falling for her. With a suspected serial killer on the loose in the area, Noah is on alert for any danger to his friends or his community, but he just did not see this one coming.
Readers if you haven't read the first one no big deal this can be read as a stand a lone novel. However all I can say is if at the end of this book you don't want to move to Crimson Point than what is wrong with you.
Kaylea Cross has the ability to bring to life a small town on the Oregon Coast that will have readers falling in love with the location, town as well as the characters that are threaded though the story.
The town becomes a characters in its own right.
While the story has your typical romantic suspense, sexual tension and evil. The story isn't just about love but loyalty, overcoming the past, not allowing someone else to control who you are and who you want to become. Bullies are bullies some figure out what they have done and apologize for it. Other will forever be a bully. Poppy is strong enough to overcome the Bullies of her past and fight for the future she wants.
Readers will fall head over heels with Poppy.
Buried Lies has an amzing message that readers will find heart warming.
Kaylea Cross you have out down yourself once again. This is a series I can't miss.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for a copy of Kaylea Cross Buried Lies.

I've just finished this suspenseful romance by Kaylea Cross and rather enjoyed it.
I picked it up based on the blurb - I love a good small town setting, and who doesn't find a dutiful, hardworking sheriff even more enticing than your regular, run-of-the-mill red-hot neighbour? What kept me reading was the sweet sweet build up between main characters Poppy and Noah, and the threads of sinister suspense woven into the story.
I have to confess, I did guess the ending, but I tend to do that a fair bit. I always like to theorise when I'm halfway through a book so invariably I'm going to guess correctly sometimes, aren't I? It didn't lessen my enjoyment, however, and those final scenes were still tense and exciting.
If I did have to nit-pick at something, It would be that I'd rather the romance had had a bit more time to develop before the finale. It had only just begun, to quote The Carpenters, and so when the "I love yous" came, I wasn't quite there with them.
I particularly enjoyed Poppy's character, she was a sweetheart, if a little timid, but so resilient and hardworking. You've got to admire that in a girl!
I haven't read any of the rest of this series but the subplots that were included in this story were excellent and I'll definitely pick up the next one if I spot it on the shelf.
Buried Lies starts off with a very creepy intro that I wasn't expecting. I love when an author gives you a glimpse into an unexpected character! The story shifts after the brief into to our main characters, Noah, the town sheriff, and Poppy, a new resident who opened a bookshop/bakery cafe. She is desperately trying to get her business off the ground and put her past behind her.
The attraction is immediate between Noah and Poppy which I always like. I felt the drama of the story was darker than the previous book and added an edge to the story (which yall know I appreciate a great deal)!
Buried Lies by Kaylea Cross brings you a delightful small town, searing hot romance, and danger! I didn't want to put the book down and go to sleep. There wasn't a good stopping point! If you haven't read book 1, thats totally okay! These really are stand alones with interconnected characters. However, I did really enjoy book 1, so I suggest you check it out as well!
Having finished this, I now realized just how many of my favourite tropes are in this book: age gap (Noah is 38, Poppy is 26), neighbours/girl-next-door, found family... and Noah's also the sheriff *checks off Men-in-Uniform*
Anyway, the story is fast-paced and the romance is cute, though we pretty much knew from the get-go who the baddie was (it really wasn't hard to guess lol). And I love the Pamela Clare mention! #friendshipgoals
Jase and Molly's book is gonna SLAY me.
E-ARC is received thanks to the publisher via Netgalley.
There's something about a man in uniform that makes me melt. Every. Time. Cop? Hot damn. Best let me grab an extra pair of panties to have on hand. Noah was no exception.
Really engaging storyline with a chance to get into the head of the baddie!! Noah is the sheriff of Crimson Point and the sexy new neighbour that Poppy could really do without coming to the attention of. Noah, however, is also a nice guy and he just wants to help out his neighbour - he has a feeling that she is on the run from something but isn't too sure what to make of her.
Poppy wants her little business to take flight and let her leave her miserable childhood behind her. But it would appear that her troubles are not quite over yet. Someone has taken waaaay too much interest in Poppy and even her name signals her to her killer stalker!
Lots of drama, a previous history of small town-small mindedness and distrust makes it hard for Poppy to realise that Crimson Point may be small but it is a very open, caring town. Her heroism opens the towns collective heart to her but will they close it just as fast when they learn of her past?
Really enjoyed this - so much so I stayed up till 3am reading it in one go! I had a couple of possible suspects for the gardener - and I even managed to get the right bad guy - go me!!! I really enjoy this small town, high octane romance series! Can't wait for more!
Overall there is really nothing unique or special about this book that sets it apart from the many other books in this category. In fact it took forever to finish even though it's short. I stopped at 20% then 30% then just pushed through to finish. It does have important Molly and Carter arc but it turns out it's basically the prologue to the next book so you don't have to read this book to get them. That's when it gets interesting and dark. It could have been 3 stars but I hate age gap romance - Noah (38) and Poppy (26) - and although I seem to be in the minority I feel it contributes to the culture that only women in their twenties are beautiful. A 38 yo seriously can't find amazing woman his own age???
The second book in the Crimson Point series by Kaylea Cross. Poppy Larsen is new to town and ready for a new start. Soon she meets new friends, including Sheriff Noah Buchanan, her new neighbor. Noah senses that Poppy has had a rough past and wants to protect her.
Nice to get Noah's story. This is a pretty good series so far. Looking forward to more. While the story could be read as a stand alone, I think it should be read as a series in order to get to know the characters and their backstories.
Freed from her familial obligations in small-town South Dakota, Poppy decides she needs a fresh start to rebuild herself on the Oregon Coast. I enjoyed watching Poppy come into her own woman, pushing away her insecurities and befriending the locals by being true to herself. As I was reading, I felt like she was the kind of person that I would want to be friends with! Noah is written to be a dream-come-true, perfect fit for Poppy. I loved that he respected her boundaries but I felt like his character came up a little flat, especially when compared to Poppy and her soul-searching journey.
There was so much good in this story that I have found that I am being a bit greedy when I hashed out my critiques. Ultimately it boils down to enjoying it but I want more. The pace of the story was almost too fast. We were whisked past some points that could have added some more substance to the characters. Poppy could have benefited from a few flashbacks would have helped me visualize the torture she went through at the hands of those bullies in South Dakota. I want to be shown, not told, why she has this fear of the dark/claustrophobia and mistrust in men. The serial killer angle fell by the wayside. It felt like the Jase, Carter, Molly triangle took up the spotlight that should have belonged to our creepy killer. While interesting, and a clever way to set up for a future book, I felt like it distracted me from Poppy and Noah’s story. I was left wondering about their plot arc when I should have been focused on Poppy and Noah.
I loved the insight into the bad guy and his movements. I wished there had been more chapter excerpts to give us more information to increase the tension. As it was, my heart was beating quickly during his scenes and I was thoroughly creeped out by the flower choices.
As I said, I really enjoyed reading this book but it was a little short. Coming in at 228 pages, it could easily have been extended by another hundred pages or so to flesh out some of the areas to make it a truly great book. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Aiden’s story in particular.
I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Poppy Larsen has moved to Crimson Point to start a new life away from her judgmental hometown. She has opened a bookshop and is slowly remodeling her new home. What she doesn’t expect is to be attracted to her sexy sheriff neighbor Noah Buchanan. While she trusts Noah it's going to take a while before she can trust any man again.
I loved this book. Poppy was so amazing, and strong. I totally have a girl crush on her. She opened her own bookstore/bakery and is remodeling her own home. Her past was filled with bullying and rumors that trashed her reputation. She is very reluctant to trust anyone, especially a man, and she is terrified that her past will follow her to Crimson Point. Poppy is hardworking, strong, and very sweet. She was perfect, especially for Noah. She was resilient against the bullies growing up and she was resilient against the trauma of surviving a serial killer.
As the sheriff of Crimson Point, Noah is very strong, protective, and masculine. What I really loved about him though was that he wasn’t afraid to show a softer side with others, especially Poppy. He was genuine and truly cared about the people in his community.
Noah and Poppy had a slow building relationship with lots of chemistry. I loved their relationship and how they worked through their trust issues. There is also development in the side characters relationships for a future book, which will most likely be very emotional.
The suspense portion of this book was very good. The serial killer was interesting and unassuming. I find his way of killing disturbing and terrifying because I feel that is a lot of people’s fear. I do enjoy how Cross deals with the mental and emotional trauma of the experience. She does a really good job with portraying mental illness and emotional trauma. I really wonder how this series will continue and how the characters will be affected.
Poppy relocated to Crimson Point for a fresh start. Getting settled into her new home and focusing on her business are her main concerns and dating, well that point is way down the list. However, living next door to a sexy sheriff has Poppy reconsidering her no dating stance. Noah is intensely curious about his new neighbor, which is a surprise since he hasn’t been interested in anyone serious since his fiancée dumped him years ago. Yet there’s something different about Poppy...
After a chilling intro, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Cross delivered a strong romantic story with a twisted thread of suspense! The romance between Poppy and Noah was slow yet hot! Talk about a great build up in attraction! I also liked the foundations Noah built to reassure Poppy and settle her insecurities. I really enjoyed the secondary cast and their roles in encouraging Poppy to open up and become comfortable, while at the same time allowing Poppy to show her newfound confidence and generosity. On their own, each character has their own story brewing in the background with Sierra and Beckett’s already out and I’m hoping at least two more are coming soon!
I loved Noah and Poppy’s romance while my heart broke for Molly’s situation. And the sexy Scot coming to help Beckett totally stole my heart with his few featured pages! And the suspense! Even though I guessed the villain early on, the end result was still goosebump creepy! Book two in the Crimson Point series, Buried Lies can easily be read as a stand alone.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This new series from Kaylea Cross continues to leave me on the edge of my seat and waiting for more! Book two in the Crimson Point series is sweet, suspenseful, heartbreaking (at times) and will keep you turning pages until you find out everything you can! With the return of all our favorite characters from Beckett and Sierra’s story you will continue to be drawn into this amazing series. Noah and Poppy do not have an easy road to their happily ever after but it is one heck of a ride to get there. I started this book and could not stop reading until the end. Now all I can ask is when do we get the next installment!!! If you haven’t started this series yet you need to now! The books are all standalone stories but personally I like reading them in order.
Sheriff Noah Buchanan has the sweets on the newest resident to Crimson Point. Having Poppy as his next door neighbor only makes it better. The supporting secondary cast and their stories enhances this book. This is certainly an emotional story of loyal friendships, sad backstories, strength, and love. The drama and the realization of the evils of war still haunt Molly and Carter. Just when it looks like Poppy’s new beginning is going to be bright, with her business starting to get busier, her growing friendships, and most importantly her new man, Noah, the unthinkable happens. I have to admit I had to skip numerous pages, as I just could not read about the psychological torture Poppy was going through. It’s the stuff that gives me nightmares. I really disliked the path of evil the author took, but her writing style and characters are so captivating, I still am rating this book with 3.75 Stars. One more thing, I was craving cherry pie and pancakes after this read.
Now this was one that caught me by surprise when I entered in. I was expecting a typical adventure read but was given much more than that. After having just come out of a paranormal this one was a welcome liking variety at times. Poppy does know how to do more than pick the curiosity she knows how to hold her own. Sheriff Noah also does more than be the neighbor we watch he also causes the blood to speed up a bit lol. As you see the chemistry you have hankered down. You will also not want to get too comfortable as this author will slowly pull you to the edge with the suspense and drama filtering in. I should of known having read the first one in series that the staying power this one would have would be strong. My craving was more than satisfied with this one.
Buried Lies was a fantastic, heart-stopping thrill ride as the 2nd book in the Crimson Point series.
I loved everything about this story Noah and Poppy are just awesome both strong-minded and vulnerable at the same time and both sweet in their own ways.
The main story was gripping, trying to figure out who the serial killer was had my eyes glued to the pages, the ending had me gasping for breath and I know we all expect an HEA but this one had me wondering if it would happen.
Molly and Carter's side story was just heart-breaking I now can't wait for Molly's story and I have to say I loved getting to know more people from Crimson Point and especially our newest Scottish import hmmm his accent in my head was sexy as hell.
This was a very suspenseful read. Forget the romance, it was the creepy serial murderer and how he committed the murders that carried the day. Ok, ok, I did like the romance between Noah and Poppy (but really it was the suspense that kept me turning pages at midnight). They were both very likeable characters each with interesting stories. Cross keeps the stories of the other close knit group members going as well. I wish there really was a Crimson Point, Oregon because I would love to visit!
Love this author and her books! This story is about Poppy and Sheriff Noah and Poppy has moved to Crimson Point to get away from something in her past. Her neighbor happens to be the sexy and sweet, Sheriff Noah. I loved these two together and really liked that there was minimum angst in their love story. As per Ms. Cross writing style, there was a bit of suspense and of course a HEA for our characters. A great read. 4 stars****
****I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by NetGalley*****
It wasn't wonderful, perfect or amazing - but it was good. It was ok.
First and foremost, I really liked the heroine. She was a silent, strong type we don't see very often in romance anymore - for some reason, people tend to think that a strong heroine has to be a police officer, or a lawyer or someone in a position of power - and if not, that she needs to at least hold her own in a fight.
I like that Poppy is neither and yet her strength is as clear and bright as the sun. Now, our hero, Noah, is very charming.
But the story itself, well, it wasn't what I'm used to reading when I read a Kaylea Cross book. Now, don't get me wrong - I love books with this community feel that Cross tries to create in this book, I really do. But the problem is, I didn't feel connected to any of the secondary characters AND I guessed who the villain was right out of the bat.
As in, the first second he appears in the novel. The second.
I was hoping to be wrong, I was hoping really hard to be wrong, but alas I was not.
So I have to be honest and say I was a little disappointed and bored with this book. I also have to admit that I didn't read the first book in this series so my feelings might have been influenced by that.
