This was such a sweet book. Ashton sees Nettie and falls head over heels for her. The great thing is Nettie is not svelte and model-gorgeous. She's a little surprised that Ashton is so attracted to her. She's used to guys seeing her as the cuddly friend type. Another problem with the blooming courtship is that she swore off military men since she grew up a military brat. Ashton is a military guy, so he has a plan of attack. I really liked how tried and true Ashton was. He refused to give up until Nettie gave him her heart and her trust. I liked that Ashton wasn't a player, like most of Brenda Jackson's more recent heroes. He was a great-looking guy, but he didn't spend his time loving and leaving them. It was cool how we see glimpses of his half-Cherokee heritage as he woos Nettie and after they get married. One of my favorites by Brenda Jackson.
It's been a pretty busy month and I haven't been able to read. Good old favorite author Brenda Jackson didn't disappoint.
This is a pretty dated contemporary. . I still enjoyed the story. The heroine was resistant because she grew up a military brat, but fell in love with a Marine despite her misgivings of reentering that life as a military spouse. There were some cute and sexy moments, per usual. Brenda really excels in the courting/dating part of the romance. The only part that dragged was the last twenty percent when the main couple already got together and the secondary character subplot kept getting mentioned and it felt like filler.
Though the ending wasn't as strong, I always enjoy a book by BJ. She excels in creating intricate family dynamics and settings in her stories.
this book was so awesome. I'm read it in one night. Ashton Sinclair all alpha high ranking Marine superior office had his sight an vision set on suave established club owner Netherland Broome. Nettie doesn't do military. After being raised a military brat an surrounding by all military she was adamant an gave part Native American an African American Ashton. a run for his money. Romantically suspenseful with a riveting plot. I could not put it down. Brenda Jackson magically delicious in a Mandarin way.
This book goes hand in hand with what I preach concerning being found. It gives the prime example of a male who finds his wife and will stop at nothing to get her. It displays spirituality as he sets on a quest to become one with her through spirit. It's a good read!
This story is full of characters falling and succumbing to Cupids arrow including Netherland Kalloren Brooms, aka Nettie, who vowed not to ever get involved with a military man because of her experience of being a military brat. She craved stability in her adult life. She managed to keep her vow until she met Marine Colonel Ashton Sinclair. Of mixed Native American Cherokee ancestry, he inherited the gift of insight of visions where he knew on meeting Nettie, she was his wife. He just had to convince her. Not being able to fight her attractions to him any longer, she surrendered to all of his and her desires and gave her the previous gift she thought was lost to her.
Love is in the air among these great friends and the single ones are surrendering to Eros left and right including the hostess to Sisters Restaurant, Rainey Gilford, surrendering to Howard Reeves, the head of security for Chenault Electronics in Chicago.
Jada Roberts was just getting out of an abusive marriage, but one look at Nettie's brother and Marine Rome Kalloren they both surrendered to each other.
Christy, the Madaris brothers' younger sister, tried to get Alex Maxwell to surrender but could not get through with his feelings for her, sighting their age difference. I see another story with them, as well as another story of Drake Warren aka Sir Drake. I enjoyed reading this book as it was my first by this author as recommended by a FBF.
So maybe it's just me but I don't like how there were 5 diffrent love stories going on. I understand this is a series and characters from previous books were in here but they took up more than half the book. I felt that this was rushed and while the story was short Netherland went from not loving him to loving him with her heart and soul within a few pages I started laughing . it seemed every relationship in this book was struck by love at first sight and while it's cute every now and then but it was a little over board when all of the couples are struck with it.
I absolutely love this book. I love Marine Colonel Ashton Sinclair he is my type of man. He meets Nettie McBroom a military brat who vows never to date a military man. But it was love at first sight for both and Ashton knows something Nettie doesn't know. He had 2 vision and both included her now he just has to convince her that they belong together. Marine Colonel Ashton Sinclair is awesome!!!
At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to start on the Madaris Family and Friends but it's to late now. This set it off for me.
This book has love, romance, suspense and in a way mystical. I loved it!!!
I was pleasantly surprised by the characters in this book. It was nice to have a positive spin on relationships with people of color. Although there was a lot of different couples all in love or falling in love, I am glad it didn't take too much focus off the main couple. This story wasn't really believable with everyone falling in love at first sight but it was still a good read.
As a voracious reader of Interracial Romance fiction, I was really surprised that I was able to get into this book. It was good, but the only thing that I found to be a little on the "woo-woo" side was the metaphysical romance aspect.
OMG, what a story. ... Definitely one of my favorite Madaris friends. As stubborn as I can be I would surrender to the one and only Ashton Sinclair, I'm glad Netherland was able to do just that and get over her fear of getting involved with a military man. Next... Gina and Mitch
I like romance novels, but love by looking really. Everyone fell in love in seconds. This is not reality for anyone I know. However it is a very nice thought
I love the Madaris Family(& friends) Novels but this is by far my least favourite. From Ashton’s visions(due to his Native American heritage, which is mentioned a thousand times) to an escaped convict, the story feels rushed and ironically, unimaginative. Many of the methods that Ashton uses to “court” Netherland, would be considered creepy and down right criminal if he wasn’t a Marine Colonel or her love interest. The side character’s rushed love stories feel as though they were just crammed in. Many extremely unrealistic plot lines, just really brought the story down quality-wise. I did like the prelude of Alex and Christy’s story and I’m looking forward to reading it.
Netherland Brooks has some major hookups with dating or having a relationship with men in the service to Uncle Sam. Ashton Sinclair is an Marine through and through : dedicated to the core. Can they ya
Netherland Brooks the owner of Sister's has some major issues with dating men in the service. In walks Ashton Sinclair whose immediately taken with Netherland. They have one problem to overcome, will they be able to?
Surrender. When you find that person that makes your heart beat you stop at nothing to get them. Ashton Sinclair is a colonel in the military and dreams about Netherland Brooms. He is determined to make her his wife. Ashton has been having visions of dreams, because of his Native American heritage, of Nettie becoming his wife and having his babies. Even though Nettie is against military men, Ashton does something to her that she can't shake. This was a great read!
I couldn't stop listening to this book. While it took me on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, I love that it was as much a romance book as it was a sweet love story with a happily ever after. Kinda makes you wanna hold onto hope in true love...ijs..😏.. now looking for my next Brenda Jackson book!
Ashton had a vision and knew that Nettie was his soulmate. She wanted absolutely nothing to do with a military man and he was a lifelong one. She tried to fight their attraction for over three years. Finally she gave in to what they were both feeling. there was a bit of drama along the way and I loved the side stories. Really enjoyed this book!
At first I didn't think I would enjoy the reading of this book. as I got into he book it became the second best one that I've read outside of Trevor and Corinthians and Dex and Caitlin stories.
I loved this book. How could anyone not love those Madaris men and their friends. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot of the story, it kept me guessing as to what would happen next. This was another great read from Brenda Jackson where everyone seems to find their true love and their HEA endings.
I Love the Madaris series. Originally Syneda & Clayton Madaris wree my favorite Madaris book, but now after reading Surrender Ashton & Netherland are along with Rome & Jada, and Rainey & Howard...this was a very good read
I haven't read this book since it first came out, and it didn't disappoint! Fiery chemistry, action packed drama, trauma and a extremely amount of thrilling romance makes Surrender a must read!
I was creeped out at first with how strongly Ashton went after Nettie and was surprised when she began to exhibit some of the same sentiments. Eventually I was able to believe in their love but found the two other love matched couples too much.
