A BATTLE OF WITS Even the mysterious Kotoko Iwanaga was a high school student once, but could a girl like her ever fit in with regular teenagers? There is one student who thinks she would be a great addition to his club, but can he possibly convince the lone wolf to become a member of an organization? Learn how Manabu Amachi manipulated Kotoko into joining the mystery appreciation club!
I wish we would get back to an overarching plot that covers a few volumes (even though Steel Lady Nanase was an overly long plot arc). I’m just not impressed with the last few episodic chapters.
Reread on 7/15/22: So yeah, as much as I loved the guillotine story, the chapter about Kotoko joining the club was pretty boring. Not bad, just not nearly as interesting as the guillotine one. A really solid volume for sure, but probably the weakest out of the series thus far.
Original review on 5/12/2020: Okay, the guillotine story was really fucking cool and it was nice seeing Kuro take a more analytical approach rather than being fodder for yokai, but did we REALLY need an ENTIRE FUCKING CHAPTER about Kotoko joining a CLUB?! Seriously, why the FUCK was that necessary?! She's joining a high school club, lots of people do that, it doesn't require a long ass fucking chapter! And the final reveal was such a fucking disappointment. Though the couple in the chapter were cute, I can't argue that. Whatevs, at least the guillotine story was awesome.
