Whiskey Tango Foxtrot #8

Primal Resurrection

Rate this book
Two years after the fall, America’s survivors have found a balance with the infected herds. What remains of the human race now lives behind walls in sheltered communities, while the Primals take their role as the apex predators owning the night. The competition for survival has depleted the hunting grounds, and the sounds of battle are drawing the infected out of the cities. A war as old as the ages, the fight for resources and control of everything that’s left, has begun. Brad once again finds himself caught in the middle as the sparks of a civil war turn into an awakening of the Primal hordes. The Primal Resurrection has begun.

W. J. Lundy is a still serving Veteran of the U.S. Military with service in Afghanistan. He has over 12 years of combined service with the Army and Navy in Europe, the Balkans and Southwest Asia. W.J. is an avid athlete, writer, backpacker and shooting enthusiast. He currently resides with his wife and daughter in Central Michigan.

I developed the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot series from notes and ideas I had put together while deployed to Afghanistan. I had been jokingly asked how we would defend against a zombie attack.

I wanted to tell a story that portrays the military that I know, that displays our actual capabilities. These are my thoughts, I hope you enjoy them, and thank you for reading.

Primal Resurrection

I figured out what it is about not only this series, but the author's writing. I am not just a reader. I am one of the crew in the story. Not a red shirt Star Trek guy who gets killed immediately, but a participant. That being said, I am not a big zombie person, but these zombies dont have a agenda per se but are manipulated.

Enjoyed the read. Needed something different.

A series like no other

There are many post apocalyptic books but this series stands apart. Characters that you will genuinely come to care about and writing that draws you into the story. I love how each book is a standalone story but with the characters you know. Anxiously awaiting book 9

Perfect

This is probably one of the best of the series and ties up a lot of loose ends as well as some new. If you're a WTF can this is a must read.

The Safe Zones aren't safe anymore. The Primals are getting smarter, organized, more dangerous.

Brad and Chelsea made it to safety at the Coldwater Compound in the Michigan Safe Zone, muddy, bloody and exhausted. A new crew out of the East, the New Republic, was making the Safe Zones not so safe. Sean, Brooks and the rest of the Team were in Crabtree, W. Virginia in the Free Virginia Territory until Crabtree was overrun.

The Wall was breached and the infected were invading in hordes. The Primals seem to be guiding the infected. It's time to get the Team back together.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot continues to provide gut clenching action from the first page to the last. The storyline follows the action in twists and unexpected curves. The author skillfully provides a realistic, authentic product. A great read!

Another great story by W.J. Lundy.

Another great story by W.J. Lundy. Gritty, fast paced and filled with survival and military action, his novels are at the top of the genre. He has become one of my favorite modern writers, keeping his characters interesting and action that is non-stop and realistic. Ammo isn't endless and the guns work like they're supposed to.

I really like the way Lundy merger the new Charters from the new book into this storyline. I’m really looking forward to next book.

Love this series. When I start reading, I have trouble putting it down. This installment is interesting as the primals are seeming to evolve more than people thought. It is also interesting how Carson was not really who the team thought he was. Just another thug who liked taking other people's stuff and bullying and hurting people. You hope people like this wouldn't exist in the Apocalypse but sadly, it's doubtful. Some interesting new characters are now added to the mix and that is great. When I finished the book I went looking for #9 and there isn't one! We are left hanging. Will be waiting for my next fix.

A WJL. SYFY. (End of the World) (PR) (AWTFNB - 8)

WJL. has penned the fifth SYFY. action adventure of Primal Resurrection, which begins with the group arriving in Texas being unsatisfied with their situation. The group decides to pack up and leave quietly. They use some of the Texas battle wagons to escape. The group in the Michigan Free Zone is scheduled to be relieved, but instead ends up guarding a nuclear power plant that is attacked by the walking dead. The group finally get the reactor shut down and are retreating to the northern Michigan Peninsula. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

This is the one where they start out in the middle east.

I put this comment here as an aide memoire to my future self.

Although this is number 8 in the series, I had NO recollection of what had gone before when I started this one.

Half-way through and I began to remember bits, then chunks, but I’d forgotten so, so much.

Age, Mary-Jane, and the number of SHTF books I’ve read are ganging up on me.

It’s OK to read, the ending sets things up for the next one.

Holey cow.

Wow, what a ride this book is!
I was quickly sucked back into the excitement of the on going story of Sean and his friends and my heart was pounding the whole time, especially the end. This is one of my favourite series, with this book reminding me why I love it so much.

Another nice entry into the WTF saga. My reading style is eclectic and this series fits in nicely when I need some action after a more thoughtful read. My favorite characters continue their adventures in the infected post apocalyptic world. The last few pages had me worried for a minute, but the NERT team is inbound. Bring on book 9...

Tear jerking excitement

Loved this read cover to cover in a matter of hours. Just devouring it page by page until the end where I was left with my jaw hanging and out of breath as if I were fighting alongside the team.

Good series of books

I have read all of the W T F books . I enjoy this series But it is starting to feel stretched out. It's like the Afghanistan war just keeps on and on without a resolution. Maybe it's time to wrap it up

Having stopped Carson, Brad decides it is time to head home, rather than back to camp. The journey is hard and what he finds is yet more destruction and chaos. Brooks and Sean head after him and they soon encounter new groups looking to take power.

So far so good. But...

Spoiler ahead. Please don't kill off the main characters. We need a happy ending for all. Sean needs to meet his soul mate and live happily ever after too.
