NBA superstar Malcolm James has everything—fame, money, and two beautiful kids—but no woman to call his own. When his ex, Charmaine Mouton, arrives in Houston to sing the national anthem at the All-Star Game, he can’t help but remember all the good times they shared, and he’s determined not to let her get away again.
Five years ago, Charmaine Mouton made the difficult choice to pursue a singing career and lost the love of her life in the process. Now a successful recording artist, when she sees Malcolm again, she decides to reach for the life she left behind.
But relationships take work, and Malcolm and Charmaine will have to put in the work if they want their love to last the second time around.
Second chance love stories are some of my favorite types of stories. It was slightly annoying how the couple broke up on a whim. In the end, love prevailed. A good read for sure. Now I'm on to book 2.
This book was recommended and although the writing was pretty good, something was off about this read.
To me the characters lacked substance. They kept claiming they were different people than they were 5 years ago, but it didn't really seem like much changed. After seeing each other at dinner they immediately jumped into a relationship and we didn't see any struggles. They just meshed as if they were the same people they were back in college. Everything was picture perfect as if they'd never even been apart all those years. No arguments, no fights. Nothing. It made the book seem unrealistic because no couple is like that. I more so finished the book out of wanting to know the ending, not because the characters/storyline had me hooked.
Not your typical love story. No drama. Mal and Charm broke up and five years later just picked right up. A very sweet story that shows that love is not lost. A must read.
(NBA superstar) Malcolm James has everything—fame, money, and two beautiful kids Malachi and Maliyah—but no woman to call his own. When his ex, Charmaine ‘Charm’ Mouton, (Grammy winner singer) arrives in Houston to sing the national anthem at the All-Star Game, he can’t help but remember all the good times they shared and he’s determined not to let her get away again. Five years ago, Charmaine Mouton made the difficult choice to pursue a singing career and lost the love of her life in the process. A nice story of second chances. Charmaine, a musician, and Malcom, a basketball player broke up after college because they wanted to focus on their career. Years later they reunite and have to forgive each other for the past to move on. The storyline is nice and sweet. My only issue with the book is that the couple spent more time arguing about stupid stuff than actually being a couple. This made me roll my eyes a lot. Anyways, still enjoyed it.
I was in love with Malcolm. Charmaine got on my nerves. Omg. It took forever to find out what happened to Malcolm and the mother of his children. What was wrong with her girlfriend. The twins were cute. Their mother and Charmaine became friends???? Really. I know it should be that way but.......Lol. The book was cute be a little over the top. Every one was nice. Lol. Loved the cover. Congratulations Ms. Nyora. Good luck.
I enjoyed reading Malcolm and Charmaine's second chance at love journey. It's hard wanting to pursue your dreams to the point where you have to sacrifice the one that you love. They both had to learn the art of compromise and keeping the lines of communication open in order to make their relationship work. I really love how they all, including Alaura, function as a family and friends for the sake of the twins. I can't wait to read the next book.
For this to be a first novel by Nyora, it was written like a seasoned pro. Her mastery of language and character development made this hard to put down. I love everything about Charmaine and Malcolm. I love that their love was tested repeatedly. Love is work and this is a story of a love that was battle tested and worked for.
Malcolm is one bossy individual. He wants what he wants with no questions asked. Well he is definitely dealing with the wrong female if he thought for one instant that Charmaine was going to do what he says. It was wonderful reading their journey back to one another. Their was a few trials but they made it through. Two 👍's up.
Very enjoyable read. This novel deserved the 5 🌟 although there times I felt the heroine after a little childish. But overall, the right friends portrayed in the book were spot on. You always need someone having your back, but not afraid to put you in your place. Ready for the next installment😀!
This was a very good second chance romance. It was good to read about how the two grew up, reached their goals, and net again. In spite of their growing up, they never lost their love for one another. I loved them as a couple, and the kids were adorable. I enjoyed the mature way they addressed the mother of his children. Bravo!
This was my first read by this author and it will not be my last. I really enjoyed Charmaine and Malcom's story! The characters were well developed, as well as, their backstory.
This book as so good. I felt Malcolm and Charmaine’s love throughout the pages. They reconnected right away due to their attraction and love for one another. Kudos on a well written book. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel.
I hated how Malcolm and Charmaine broken up years ago. They both was to stubborn. A rekindled love reminds me that they never gotten over each other in the first place. Even though they both were still stubborn they worked out their problems to be together💙💙
I love this story it shows a well rounded relationship it's show that there always up and down but you can get through if you put the work in, first time reading this author, won't be my last.
Very well written. At times I sided with Charm and was glad she stood her ground. Other times I sided with Malcolm. It was clear that the love between them remained and endured even in their absence.
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between Charmaine and Malcolm! Fantastic book!
Malik and Charmaine's story was one of redemption. As a second chances at forever, the road was not easy. It is true that communication is needed to sustain a relationship. MAlik and Charmaine's relationship showed just how importance communication is. You love the support of Lena and Jacob, as they saw that with openness, and honesty that there friends were meant to be.
This is the first book that I've read by this author and I certainly wasn't disappointed. For one thing, it features one of my favorite storylines - reunited love. Charmaine and Malcolm were engaged at the beginning of book but broke up when they couldn't compromise about having a long distance relationship dealing with her singing career. Five years later, they are destined to meet again when Charmaine is invited to sing the National Anthem at the NBA All-Star basketball game in Houston where Malcolm lives and plays in the NBA. When they see each other again for the first time, they both find it difficult to keep their hands and lips off of each other once they are alone. Spending time together and talking about the past, they realize that they still have deep feelings for each other and decide to try their relationship again. Through difficult and time-consuming careers, lack of communication, misunderstandings and family dynamics, Charm and Mal are able to overcome these obstacles and end up with a loving and lasting relationship. Well done Ms. René!!!
Malcolm and Charmaine were college lovers. They broke up when both their careers got in the way of their relationship. He was an NBA star and she was a rising singing star. They'd been apart for six years and never crossed paths. That was until she was asked to sing at the All Star game. They got together with old friends and quickly rekindled a relationship that never died.. The story was believable and the chemistry between the couple was very nice. A good solid read for this new author.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked that it wasn't filled with drama but it told the story of genuine love that the couple attempted before its actual time. Malcolm and Charmaine really loved each other but were unable to see eye to eye the first time around. As fate would have it they were allowed a second chance and they were able to see just how much they were made for each other.
Love Rekindled is a nice, syrupy-sweet love story filled with relationship bumps that are smoothed out seamlessly. The reader will feel the love throughout each chapter. Malcolm and Charmaine are soulmates. I would have liked a little more edge and detailed intimate scenes. But, this may not be the author's style.
This my first time reading this author book and I really enjoy and love the story! Malcolm and Charmaine love them as a couple and like how they were able to find their way back together. I will definitely purchase more from this author!!
I really enjoyed this second chance love story. Charmaine and Malcolm had previously dated and were engaged after college, but their careers caused them to part. I'll be looking for more for the other characters in the future.
