The Alpha heir, Caeden, has been looking out for Omega Jon for years and always protecting him.
When Caeden's 21st birthday comes and he doesn't shift like everyone else his anger begins to boil. When his 25th birthday arrives and he still hasn't shifted his anger snaps and he runs off to the city. Leaving his parents, his pack, and best friend Jon behind.
When Caeden's father sends Jon to bring him back Jon finds himself in need of saving again. Seeing Jon makes Cae realize things have changed and not only in his own behavior, but in how he sees Jon and vice-versa.
I love this book. I love the mc's Caeden and Jon. I love their personalities and wow do they have chemistry! It's quite a sexy book. It also delves into the medical reason behind why Cae has never shifted.
This is one of my favorite books.

I really did like the different elements that the author had in the story. It was a truly refreshing read. See I know what you’re thinking right now. You’re thinking why 3.5 stars and not 4. Well, I know what your......Just kidding, but seriously see what I did there? If not, then I will just say that this book can be quite repetitive. However, with some editing it could be much better IMO.

This is a paranormal/shifter book that originally started as a short story Outcast. The story was then expanded into three parts, with "Outcast" being the first.
Caeden is an Alpha, only one of two alphas of the pack. His father is THE Alpha. So, kind of like the Queen and Prince of Wales, if you will. Jon is a lowly Omega, an outcast of the pack and frequently picked on.
I enjoyed this story enough that despite its problems, I had no trouble finishing it.
To begin with, the REPETITIVE statements truly got on my nerves. Over and over Jon thinks: I don't deserve Caeden because he is an Alpha...Omega's can't be with an Alpha...Omega's are just for fucking...I am the lowest of the low...etc., etc., etc. Readers know this because this is what Jon THINKS, which leads to the second problem.
This is one of those books where readers are told instead of shown. Instead of action or dialogue, the author takes the easy way and just types and types, paragraph after paragraph, things she thinks we need to know. One of those facts is that the MCs grew up together and despite the "class" difference, became best friends. Which leads me to my third complaint.
The book begins with a very sweet scene when the two MCs are five or six. Caeden sticks up for poor Jon. Then we are in the present, the MCs are twenty-five, and the story plays out. I really needed to experience the two growing up and a bond develop instead of just being told there is a bond later. Would have made the eventual pairing much more dramatic and heartfelt.
Finally, I think a lot of the repetitiveness comes from the three parts of the book functioning like three books. The author or editor needed to make the story flow from section to section. We KNOW Jon is a lowly Omega...I've been with ya from the beginning and have been told 17 times already!! *sigh*
However, despite these compaints, it is a heartwarming story and a bit different take on the alpha/omega dynamic. If the book is edited and the author fleshes out the characters a bit, this would easily be a 4 or 5 star read.
