"The most important book ever written..." Actually, it's not. Norman Baker said that about his autobiography. Why? He was a jackass. In the pages of this book meet 20 losers, killers, confidence tricksters, and incompetents - the Jackasses of History. For adult readers.

Yes, indeed, it's a weird title but it's quite appropriate for the people who appear in the book. Some of these include:

George B. McClellan: Basically a do-nothing Civil War general with an ego the size of a planet.

John Thurtall: Murderer.

Franz Reichelt: When making a parachute make sure it opens when it's supposed to. Otherwise, splat!

Elagabatus: Transvestite prostitute and Roman emperor. Which was the day job?

Kaiser Wilhelm II: Pre-dated Hitler but hated Jews just as much as Hitler did.

Jeanne de Valois: Con artist.

Benito Mussolini: Italian leader, thought he was as big and mighty as Hitler. Oh how the mighty do fall.

King Leopold III: Sex traffiker.

There's a bunch of other ones. Interesting book about disgusting people.

Good to know that jackasses have always been its us and are not a new phenomenon

Most of the characters outlined here, I have heard off. The amazing thing, then as now, is how they can pull the wool over other peoples’ eyes.

A minor distraction.

The books title is truthful as what it is and what it stands for. It's a distraction and should not be taken seriously by anyone for any reason. Admittedly, I had some very nice bathroom visits while reading it.

Interesting book.

This is a really good book about the less desirable people in history. Some you may know of and many you may not have had the pleasure, but all are interesting.
