Demon Enforcers #6

Demon Beloved

Rate this book
A gritty, fast-talking mercenary teams up with the last of the Demon Enforcers to defeat her own family...a cabal of one-percenter psychics threatening to take over the world.

As the castoff, unmagical daughter of one of the most powerful psychic families on earth, I learned a long time ago to make my own path, becoming a discreet and brutally effective operative-for-hire for the Shadow Court.

Little do those elitist assholes know, I’m this close to taking them out for good.

Then I get tangled up with Raum of the Syx, who also has the Shadow Court in his sights. He’s not like any knuckle-dragging, goop-drooling demon I’ve ever met. He’s got the voice of an angel, the body of a Greek god, and a mystical voodoo eye trick that mesmerizes everyone who looks at him. He also thinks I shouldn’t shoot quite so many people. I mean, fair.

I don’t trust Raum, and I can’t—especially since, despite our synced-up missions, he’s also destined to kill me. Good thing I definitely won’t be falling for him…much.

Your heart will only destroy you when you face a Demon Beloved.

Demon Beloved is book 6 of 6, and concludes the Demon Enforcers paranormal romance series. Set in the same world as Immortal Vegas and Wilde Justice, it's perfect for fans of urban fantasy, high-adventure supernatural suspense, slow-burn romance, and wise-cracking humor.

“Demon Beloved” is the final instalment in the “Demon Enforcers Series”, by Jenn Stark, which focusses on the Syx, a group of demons once brought by Sara Wild into the narrative in one of her former adventures in the “Immortal Vegas Series”. The Syx are in fact former Angels, who after their Fall were turn into Demons and became the Enforcers, an elite group which, under the oversight of Michael the Archangel, polices the actions of demons this side of the Veil. This final book relates the story of Raum in his pursuit of redemption, closure, and the possibility of HEA, after his life of servitude under the Archangel.

Raum’s story might be the very best in the series, even if – as I have already stated in numerous occasions – I’m partial to Hugh, he is without doubt my favourite demon, but for all there is worth, Raum’s is the best story-arc. If you thought Jenn Stark was a genius before (spoiler: she has always been one), wait until you read this story, this is a perfect crafted story, which focussed as much (if not even more) in Zee’s as in Raum, fleshing out their respective past to make us fully understand their present relationship and make their choices all the more relatable, and fully realistic.

As always Jenn Stark takes us for a ride in a perfectly crafted world with a spotless prose and the exact needed garnish of wit with generous servings of innuendo. The Demon Enforcer Series is a more mature reading than the original “Immortal Vegas” , but nevertheless nicely packed and elegantly carried out. I keep repeating myself… gladly! Stark is one the best Urban Fantasy authors ever, she possesses the rare ability to weave very serious and realistic themes in fantasy frame that feels oddly familiar.

Jenn Stark Urban Fantasy Verse encompasses three Series: the original "Immortal Vegas", the Spin-On/Sequel "Wilde Justice" and the Spin-Off "Demon Enforcers". Every one of the three is a clear recommendation to every lover of intelligent and good crafted urban fantasy.

Reading about Raum and Zee was just the ending needed. Those two were quite the pair. And having Zee be so tied to the mortal world when Raum had been so tied to the demon world made it very interesting to watch. Incorporating the modern with the immortal is always exciting, and Jenn did it beautifully in this one, as she has in all the others.

Zee was also tied to the Shadow world since her parents were bigshots in the Shadow Court. And with the absenteeism of the Arcana Council, the Shadow Court has been mighty active. It was an interesting way to blend Raum and his angelic lifestyle with Zee and her modern mortal lifestyle. I won't tell the story because that would ruin it for everyone else. What I will say is, hot d*mn! Exciting doesn't begin to describe Demon Beloved. It's so much more than just the pairing of the two. So much more goes on that you find you just can't put it down until you are finished.

I am so ridiculously in love with the entire Immortal Vegas world and am very sorry to see parts of it ending. I will miss the Syx. I will miss Sara and the gang. I will seriously miss that entire world. Here's hoping Jenn figures out a way to continue them with a new series or group of storylines. I can't imagine Sara isn't clamoring to tell what happened to her and Armaeus. I know I'm dying to know!

There are very few authors that can create a world so captivating that there is true sorrow when the series ends. Jenn is one of those. So, goodbye Syx! You've been a true joy to get to know!

Excellently done, Jenn Stark! Excellently done indeed! You so ROCK!!!

Jenn Stark writes amazing books, her imagination is just incredible. Demon Beloved is the 6th and final Demon Enforcers book, focusing on Raum, who not only has to redeem himself, but cement it for all the Syx - no pressure then! This book takes place in the ravaged remains after the Shadow Court's attempt to take control of the world. It's an unnerving place, clearly drawing parallels with things occurring in our own existence. His partner to achieve his task is Zee, the non-magic daughter of a highly magical and powerful family who are attempting to take over leadership of the Shadow Court. Zee's upbringing has made her tough and ruthless, able to kill without much thought when necessary and easily able to manipulate people. There is nothing on paper that would make her a good partner for a fallen angel striving for redemption! There are twists, turns and all kinds of unexpected happenings as Zee, Raum and the Syx try and bring down the Shadow Court.
This is an unmissable story, especially if you've read any of the previous Demon Enforcers books. All Jenn's books are good to read and the worlds she creates are fascinating. They can be read separately, but it's always best to start at the beginning and enjoy hours and hours of entertainment with these well-crafted books.

Demon Beloved is the sixth book in the Demon Enforcers series and while it wraps up that series, it also ties up a few loose threads from the Wilde Justice series as well. Raum of the Syx has an impossible task, with Michael's absence, it falls to Raum to open the gates for the 144th squadron to help protect the Connected from the Shadow Court. Zee is the unloved daughter of a leader of the Shadow Court, who wants nothing more than to take them down. Zee and Raum must work together to achieve their goals, hopefully without killing each other in the process.

I really liked Zee and Raum's story! They are a great pair and complemented each other nicely. I liked that they both were determined to succeed, despite the discouraging prophesies they'd each been given. I also really liked that this story tied up some loose ends from The Shattered Tower, specifically, Michael and Blue's respective stories. I'm sad the series is over, but it was great while it lasted and I cannot wait to see what the author writes next!

Raum was different than the other Syx and had a task unlike the others, he must unleash the 144th and save Michael. A group of Angels both uncontrollable yet with perhaps the power to save humanity. Michael was the Archangel destined to lead the 144th but Michael had sinned and was no longer worthy so Raum must and could not…as a demon do it alone.

Zee Markham was ruthless because she had to be just to survive. When Raum has to return for human help, Zee is the last he would expect human to help. Though he was a demon looking redemption here he was with a human soul so tortured she felt she was worth nothing and rightfully named Zero.

A fitting conclusion for the tale of Demon redemption showing we all carry our inner demons; figuratively at least. With the Arcana Council incommunicado, Raum with the other fallen angels face their biggest challenge with their redemption and humanities existence at stake. Masterful story telling weaving a complex tapestry of possibilities as always; a must read!

The world is in shambles after the “Shadow Court’s” last attempt to achieve complete control of the world and the magic within. Michael, the archangel makes a surprise move that throws the Demon’s into chaos right before Raum the Demon is ready to accept his task and redeem the Syx.
Zee the thief and Raum the demon make an unlikely pair, but see the advantages of working together to achieve their own goals. Trust is not easily earned between these two misfits. Zee, a Shadow Court misfit who’s life and skills remind me a little of Sara’s is teaming up with Raum the last of the Syx Demon’s who is trying to achieve his goal to allow the Demon’s to become Fallen Angels. Raum of the Syx knows what he has to do but will he be able to accomplish his goal or is the cost too much?
Our old friend Death or Blue, is thrust into new partnerships she doesn’t want and is reluctant to take.
This story is full of deceit, destruction and miracles, a fitting end to the series.

If you are considering this book, please read it. It is the 6th book in the Demon Enforcers series. It can be read alone, but I recommend reading all of the books in the series. Better yet, read all of the books written by Jenn Stark! She writes intelligently and is able to write stories that hold your attention. I always look forward to her new releases, and this book was no exception. In this story, Raum is one of six demons that are slowly redeeming themselves after thousands of years. Raum meets his match in Zee, a woman that was never treated with love from her family. She has learned how to survive alone and without magic, until she meets Raum. Demon Beloved is a captivating story, and I stand by my suggestion to others to read and enjoy the last book in the series. I look forward to reading whatever Jenn Stark and her amazing imagination create next!

Such a imagination on Jenn Stark! Another action-packed book to end the arc of the Syx with Raum's story and redemption. Zee is a dark, badass character and the partnership with Raum to try to defeat the Shadow Court makes for an thrilling and fascinating story. The world building of the author is so great and her characters are always so dynamic.

We get some answers to some loose ends from previous books and a setup of the next arc (hopefully). Always will recommend her books but be sure to start at the beginning as it's hard to jump in without reading the previous books. You're in for a wild ride with her books.

Really enjoyed this book. Raum is the final of the Syx - fallen angels, looking for his redemption.
As is usual from Jenn Stark, the book is breathtakingly action packed, and richly detailed.
This book ties up quite a few loose ends, brought forward from previous books. We encounter old favourite characters and are introduced to a new heroine. Of just this book, or for a whole further series, remains to be seen....

Demon Beloved, the FINALE! Oh and what a finale! A MUST read story about Zee, an unlikely heroine, and Raum the last of the Syx needing redemption. A story of plots, death, sacrifice, pain and love! A twisting, turning storyline that ensures you stick with it to it's sudden and not so bitter end!
What a series this has been, culminating in this excellent story that uses descriptive words I have never seen used before but that are self evident in their context! I love this writer. I don't know how she dreams up these storylines, but long may she continue! Highly recommended!

The only bad thing about this book is its the last of the series!!!!! I loved this demon, and I really like the female lead. I got caught in the plot and how she tied the book with the others and her other work in the Wilde world. How sometimes we are our worse punisher and our sense of justice, on ourselves, is sometimes skewed badly. Everyone can recognise it someone in her books, or in many of them. I can't wait to read what she goes toward next!

Adieu to the series... because no one wants to say goodbye to the Syx. Jenn Stark knocks it out of the park again in this book that completes the redemption for the Syx. Zee and Raum are fantastic characters - seriously, you couldn't ask for a better dynamic duo to wrap up the series. As ever, the appearances from characters past make fabulous cameos, and it's always a delight to have Blue (aka Death) part of the tale.

I absolutely loved the Demon Beloved, the final installment of the Demon Enforcer series!

I enjoyed how Zee, the sort of anti-hero was darker than the demon, and at first, I didn't like her. Then, as her story was explained, amidst tons of exciting action, she successfully became a hero I could get behind. Raum came across as a true hero and I took to him more strongly than the other demon enforcers.

Enjoyed the whole series!

Raum, the last of series with the Syx, gets his redemption with the decimation of the Shadow Court. Victorious in their rout of the enemy, it was viscerally enjoyable to read their comeuppance. Zee was an incredible badass heroine with a dark past. Well written, great urban fantasy. A thoroughly enjoyable, action packed, magic filled set of books. Highly recommended.

This book was super good as only Jenn Stark can produce. :) I have loved seeing the story of each demon enforcer and the crossover with Stark's other series especially the Shadow Court and snippets of the Sara Wilde series which will always be my favorite of Jenn's books. This book and series is a definite must-read.

As always, you know you’re going to get something good from this author. While this wrapped up so many threads I wasn’t ready for it to be over (I never am with the good stories). Loved the characters and really felt the love story develop. You won’t be disappointed with this book, or any of her others.

A good ending to a fantastic series of books. Enjoyed reading this and found it difficult to put down and spent most of my time on the edge willing things to workout. Also sad to see the end of this series as have read and reread all 18 Sara Wilde books and the six Demon books. Highly recommend these brilliant books.

Amazingly Beautiful Ending
The last installment of the series is a tale of two seemingly opposites coming together. Only to realize their one true goal is the same. Raum and Zee are amazing together. I love the fire in Zee, and that Raum is the calm to her storm. Sad that it is ending, but thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Thank you to Jenn Stark for this amazing journey.

Excellent book! In this story it follows the aftermath of the wave by the Shadow Court. Raum is called to help Zee whose real name given to her by her mother is Zero because she has no connected ability. We have a run in with a prophet and the rest of the Syx will appear. Zee has to help the Syx open up help from some angels because of her ability to touch an hold things others can’t.
More trips to the in between and plenty of action will keep the reader busy. I do not reveal too much because I hate to spoil a great book for the reader. Know that the good guys will win and you are in for a big surprise about Raum!
Thank you, Jenn Stark for all the books in this series as I loved them all!

BINGE OUT the COMPLETED 25 book series: Immortal Vegas(11), Wilde Justice(8) & Demon Enforcers(6)

Demon Beloved is not only the finale to the Demon Enforcers series of six books and the individual story of Enforcer Raum, but so much more. It ties up loose ends from its originator series, the Immortal Vegas series of 11 books and the Wilde Justice 8 book series featuring the awesome protagonist Sara Wilde and the elusive and magical Arcana Council. It also drops hints as to where future stories may lead with members of the Arcana Council.

The six Demon Enforcers, collectively known as the Syx, were introduced in the Immortal Vegas series as Fallen Angels and you immediately thought they totally suck - they are demons who are holding teenagers captive. Not much hope for these bad guys right? But within the Immortal Vegas and Wilde Justice series, and in each Enforcers book, you meet each member and see there is so much more to these demons. Each Enforcer comes face to face with their past sins and is on the road to redemption.

Zee is Raum’s human counterpart and her background is truly fascinating. Growing up being severely abused in a magical household without an ounce of magic to protect herself, Zee leads a rough life. Uninhibited in using murder, robbery, spying and deceit, she ruthlessly uses everything in her mundane life to get what she wants. But what she wants and the means she uses to achieve it are the epitome of chaotic good. Instead of bitterly sinking into the dark world she was raised in, she has dedicate herself to bringing it down.

The dual natures of all the Demon Enforcers- demons doing good works - makes for great reading in each book. However Raum ’s story in this final book turns out to be the most interesting, and to me, complicated and fulfilling story. He stands out among his untypical demon compadres, especially when you begin to understand he is absolutely not the typical Fallen Angel we were led to believe. And luckily for us readers, selfless and sacrificing love is a part of Raum’s redemption.
