"He's looking for a quiet space...she's not looking for a relationship."
From stranger--to neighbor ...to forever?
Reese Lockhart finds herself trudging through a life scarred by past rejection and family disconnect. Tending her backyard garden helps—if the carrots and zucchini can grow from a hard little seed, so can she. If she can just keep her head down and her hands busy—she’ll be okay, right? Then a Southern charmer moves in next door, triggering more painful memories of loss.
Elliot Jacobson thinks all he wants is a quiet space to work, but the cautious gardener next door keeps distracting him. There’s a story she’s not sharing, which just fascinates him more.
Seeds of friendship blossom into a fun-loving romance, but family drama and devastating news threaten to pull them apart.
I thought the story line was pretty good. You can relate to the struggles that Reese has and see how she learns to overcome them. I like that her relationship with Elliot was not rushed into. I struggled with getting into the book because it seemed like information was missing and it was just choppy. It also annoyed me that Reese would get phone calls and you would only hear her side of the conversation, which didn't necessarily make sense, and then it would be a different scene altogether. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes clean contemporary fiction.
This great contemporary romance will have you unable to set the book aside, as the author draws you in with real life settings and humor. Then before you realize it, you will find yourself thinking about deeper issues that all families face today. Even anxiety and panic attacks are handled in a delicate and safe manner, helping you to look more closely into your own heart matters. I would recommend this clean and fun romance to anyone who loves a great story.
This is a very enjoyable read. A lot of interesting characters. I could really feel what some of the characters were feeling and sympathize with them. Covers anxiety and panic attacks, something I could relate to from experience. I was laughing throughout with some of what happened and felt for the characters when they were having a hard time.
I loved the characters in this book and the story pulled me in so that I couldn't put it down. This romance felt realistic, full of ups and downs, but still felt entertaining and uplifting at the same time.
She lost the ability of seeing the good she was doing and focused on what she could not change. Planting a garden was her goal. Then she met someone that took her mind off the past and started learning how to live.
This is a wonderful book. The characters come to life throughout the story and I kept reading to see what would happen next. This is a very well written story that it pulls you into the book as if you are right there.
#57. This is the sweetest, most engaging romance I have read in a long time. And mamas can share it with their teen daughters it is so refreshingly clean. I definitely recommend!
I found this to be an interesting read. It makes you stop and think about family dynamics. Intriguing to say the least. I would recommend this, it was an enjoyable book.
