Newton Allen needs a new start. On the run from his past and uncertain about his future, he’s broken and scared, but he’s determined to make it on his own. Opening a small photography studio in the small town of Silver Lake seems like the perfect way to start over and follow his dream. All he wants is to live his life on his own terms, quiet and alone, with no reminders of the life he’s been trying so desperately to forget.
Gage Michaels was born and raised in the small town of Silver Lake. He’s tall, good looking, and owns the only gym in town. He has everything he needs—his health, great friends, and a thriving business. The only thing he doesn’t have is the one thing he wants more than anything… love.
From the moment they meet, Gage knows there’s something special about the shy photographer. Newton can’t believe the hot guy from the gym might actually be interested. However, when Newton’s past finally catches up to him, all Gage cares about is keeping Newton safe.
Newton will have to choose between learning to stay and trust or running away…especially as both their hearts and lives could depend on the decision he makes.
Trust is a steamy, standalone gay romance novel, with a happily ever after ending and no cliffhangers. It is set in the same world as Triumph and can be read as a standalone, though you may want to read Triumph first to acquaint yourself with the world!
4.25 Stars for this great book by Avery. It is part of a series, but I would say it isn't an absolute necessity to read the first book, but it would be a shame to miss out on Jack and Calvin's story. So Trust is set in Silver Lake, and in this book, you get to meet Gage, the hotter than hot gym owner who also happens to be Calvin's best friend. Enter Newton, shy, sad, frightened and wary of everyone. He is on the run from his past, something really bad has happened to him and he's frightened for his life, but he feels an instant connection to Gage, even though he is big, muscled and definitely an alpha-male. Everything runs smoothly with them for a while, but Newton soon finds out you can't outrun your past. Gage is heavily invested in seeing where things go with Newton, they are so sweet together and it's pretty apparent early on that Gage has a heart of gold, and it wants to beat for Newton. The two main characters from book 1 make quite a few appearances, and I believe the characters for the next book had a little cameo appearance to set up the next book in the series as well. Overall it was a fun read, with minimal angst, a little man lovin, a dose of humour and just enough sweetness to not give me a toothache. I really look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Trust, the second book in Avery Ford's Silver Lake series, is a charming and romantic tale of Gage. I was so excited to get Gage's story and it ended up being so perfect.
Gage meets Newton upon Newton's arrival in town. The interest is immediate but Newton is weary. As the friendship develops, and then becomes more, the trust that Newton has for Gage is amazing. I love how much this trust can change Newton's life.
There are many special things in this story, but to me, the most captivating is when Gage and Newton go rope climbing. This scene is so beautifully written, as it's inspiring, emotional and accomplished. I would read the book again just for this scene.
As Newton has kept his past from Gage, it's a surprise for Gage when he finds out. But, Gage will do everything he can to keep the other half of his heart safe.
I really enjoyed Trust, loving how perfect these two men were for each other. I'm excited to see who Avery Ford writes about in the next installment in the Silver Lake series.
Yet another enjoyable contemporary romance from Avery Ford. Always guaranteed for a good story line, some adorable characters and a HEA. Newton is looking for a fresh start after escaping an abusive relationship and sets himself up in Silver Lake. Gage is the local gym owner who takes a shine to him immediately but can also sense that Newton needs time and security. The two men have a whirlwind of emotions and things do happen quite quickly but it's easy to get swept along in their story. Avery always brings us a story that is easy to imagine can actually happen but is such a wonderful fictional place that it could never be real. We have appearances from characters from book one in the series and they have bring support and friendship to the story and MC's. Silver Lake sounds like a wonderful place to be with a real sense of community This can definitely be read as a standalone, you don't feel that you're lost at any point. Though of course a series is always better enjoyed when read in order to get maximum enjoyment :-) I received an ARC and am happily giving a review
This is Gage's story, really, from the cover to the end, and it's one of the few that takes the approach of the big, built, handsome jock being the pursuer of the smaller, adorable but definitely not naïve semi-nerd, Newton.
The first chapter sets us up for Newton's psychological torment and makes a very good case for why he escaped an abusive relationship. The next chapters are all alternating POV tales in which Gage really comes through as a sweet and trusting character and Newton as a tentative, sometimes justifiably fearful, individual. What I liked about this one is how deeply we are exposed to Gage--he's not a dumb gym jock but a caring individual with a big heart.
Nice follow-up to a very nice first book, looking forward to the third but I am not sure the hint that author Ford may have given us about the two protagonists is going to be as much fun as the first two.
A total unlikely pair that hits the ground running! Newton left California in a huge hurry and decided to move to small town America so he could get lost in the shuffle. Gage lives in Small town, Silver Lake, and owns a gym. One thing after another starts happening and pretty soon Newton and Gage have a serious problem that shows up in town. This is a super sweet totally loveable story that keep you wanting more and Avery delivers with a satisfying sigh.
Love this story. Captivated me right from the start with a wonderful stroyline and fantastic characters. Newton and Gage have great chemistry and they are perfect for each other. I love the interactions not only between them two, but also between them and the other characters. I really like how patient and protective Gage is of Newton, it's super cute. Can't wait for the next book in the series! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
As always from this author a great read. I would recommend reading book one before you pick up this one to gain a little background. Gage and Newton are captivating characters. Their story is a great read and well written. Gage and Newton need to learn to trust and then they can have the love they both deserve. It's a enticing read and you will find it hard to put down when you do read it.
Good book and i enjoyed it for the most part. The trust that Newton develops for Gage due to his past I thought could have been more realistic however overall a nice simple read. I will definitely continue to read the series as I am quite invested of Main Street and it's success.
I loved this story. I thought Gage and Newton were adorable and perfect for each other. I somehow missed Book 1, but now I really want to read Calvin and Jack's story.
Trust is a quick easy read and a great addition to the Silver Lake series. Newton is learning to trust again after leaving an abusive environment. He meets Gage at a gym and the attraction is immediate. I found Newton to be adorkable. This book is a low angst read which I definitely recommend.
