Into a Dragon's Soul is the thrilling and action-packed conclusion to the Chronicles of the Four series.
In this book Dela, Warsgra, Orergon, and Vehel must travel throughout Xantearos to unite their peoples in order to stop King Crowmere on his quest for war. By bringing together the human army, the Norcs, the Moerians, and the Elvish, Dela plans to return Xantearos to how it once was, as a place of peace where anyone- despite their race- can live anywhere they choose, west or east of the mountains. With the help of the dragons, Dela the Dragonsayer is determined to change her world for the better.
This book is the perfect conclusion for this series. It has just as much if not more action than the previous books, keeping the excitement consistent. I also really enjoyed getting to know the other races a little better. When traveling to unite the people Dela goes to the Norcs' village at the Southern Trough, the Moerians' Vast Plains, and Inverlands of the Elvish where we get a deeper look at each of the races and how they live.
This book also shows Dela fully "uniting" *wink wink* with Warsgra, Orergon, and Vehel. While I did enjoy their romance and watching their relationship come about, in this series the romance seemed a bit like a second thought to the rest of the plot. While normally I'm all about the romance, especially in a reverse harem, in the case of this series I actually appreciated how it wasn't all about Dela and her lovers. This book is definitely more centered around the action and adventure in a fantasy world that completely pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Another addition that I enjoyed in this book was Dela's lost brother Ridley. Finally discovering what truly happened to him is upsetting but also a relief to a previously- slightly- annoying plot hole. I like how the author tied him into the story throughout the entire series and kept his presence relevant even when his character wasn't actually present.
And now, last but not least, the dragons. I love dragons so any book with them in it, whether they're shifters, animals, or companions, is a book I'm going to enjoy. I really liked the role they played in this series. The first actual look at a dragon shows how beautiful and fearsome they can be. In book 2 Dela understands that they are not simple creatures but ones whose respect and trust must be earned. And in this last book we see how powerful they truly are and how, when working together, anything can be accomplished. I was very happy to see Dela's dragon named in this story and loved seeing slight little details of dragon personality slip through the story. This story depicts dragons as more than just animals but beings with feelings who form bonds.
Chronicles of the Four is a great fantasy reverse harem series. I really enjoyed all three books and can't wait to read more by this author in the future.
