Chance Reddick, the Angel of Justice, is still trying to find himself in a world that doesn't approve of vigilantes. After his last adventure, he convinced Gabriella and his family to move closer to Vegas, where there was a lot more action for someone with his sort of "hobby."
Working for his friend Pete Dixon, Chance is learning the ropes as a private investigator, planning to eventually get his own license, but then he happens to be too close to what it first looks like an accidental death. When it turns out to be murder, Chance goes from being the hunter to the hunted.

David Archer was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. He is a fiction author and novelist, writing in the mysteries and thrillers genre. His approach to writing is to hit deep, keep you entertained, and leave you wanting MORE with every turn of the page. He writes mysteries, thrillers, and suspense novels, all of which are primed to get your heart pumping.
Really enjoyed High States Hunting, the 2nd of David Archer's Chance Reddick series. Chance is a likeable character who works hard at balancing the roles of husband, family man and at the same time, a private investigator who struggles with the shortcomings of law justice and street justice to the point where he sometimes renders his own justice. As a reader, you'll empathize with him in those roles and find it ever interesting as Archer unravels a tale based on Chance and his PI partners.
As aforementioned, I really liked High States Hunting and the only reason I gave it less than 5 stars was Archers late introduction of a new character that was critical to the storyline but very little background was given on them before they appeared near the end. Even so, I look forward to the next story surrounding main character Chance Reddick.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. There was one spit that was extremely confusing. Location 2122 toss Johnson’s house. They didn’t find it there, so we’re looking for his car. He didn’t have it with him last night, so it must be hidden away someplace. I'm personally betting that’s where the list is, too. Confusing statement that should have been caught by an editor. Still a good story, sort of like Agent Roberts.
Book 3 in the Chance Reddick serirs, finds chance joining Pete Dixon's Private Detecive Agency. Chance has just finished his first assignment when man s body lands next To Chance splashing blood all over Chance. This storyline highlights how fragile our Justice System is, the temptations that Federal Agents must resist in order to maintain Law and Order. How the Witness Protection Program could easily be compromised by Agents desperate for money.
HIGH STAKES HUNTING Chance is back in Vegas, getting the bad guys. Learning more about being a PI, among the evil doers. Sometimes he brings his own justice into play when the law of justice doesn’t. A likable guy that is balancing being a husband, and father. Fast Action to the end, and another great read by author.
Glocks are, technically, double action, have no hammer, nor an external safety: "a Glock, a nine millimeter automatic that was becoming extremely popular, especially since it found its way into so many police departments. It was a single action model and the hammer was cocked back." Archer is, nevertheless, a very good storyteller.
Another excellent book in the Chance Reddick series. I see that Chance has made an unexpected ally in this book . I certainly hope that she proves to be a reliable asset to his new venture as a PI. I am looking forward to the next installment in this series already. Keep up the great work.
Chance Reddick is back in business, keeping his eye out for evildoers that need taking care of. As a budding Private Investigator, Chance has the ability to keep the streets of Vegas safe and sound. I Highly recommend this book.
Not my favorite Archer book. Readable, but too many extraneous characters. Hunt the bad guys, kill/hurt the bad guys, move to next bad guy or same bad guy trying to hurt other people. Never felt a lot of connection to anyone.
This was another exciting adventure into the world of Chance Reddick. Lost of twists and turns again involving rotten apples in the witness protection program and confrontation with a special FBI agent. Action packed and a couldn’t put down book.
As always Archer spins a tangled web of intrigue and suspense. His character Chance Reddick along with his family and friends are great at untangling Archer's send (of which there are many).
Another amazing book by a superb writer of many books. I’m anxiously awaiting another one. Chance is trying to make it in a world that’s not too friendly to vigilantes. Exciting and definitely keeps you gripped.
Love the books storyline. However all the words missing or not making sense were a distraction. Needs to be proof read, but not the authors fault. Great book other than that.
Reddick does it again. Even though I read this out of order, it fit perfectly. David Archer is still my favorite author and Chance Reddick is one of a kind. I won't say anything about this book so as not to spoil it for others. Read it! You won't be disappointed.
I love reading Mark Dawson’s novels. The Chance Riddick novels are easy predictable reads and I enjoy them that way. So far, there hasn’t been a novel by Mark that my wife and I haven’t enjoyed. Keep writing please!!!!!!! Dr. C. 👍💕😎🍾
The Private eyes, Pete and Chance had their hands full with the corrupt Los Vegas Marshall’s Service. I had my thoughts of a co-conspirator but was wrong. See if you can figure out who?...
Each book in series gets better and better. Chance really grows on you. My hero. Vigilante justice has its rewards. Great story...could keep reading Chance exploits forever. Keep them coming.
I like that the novel grabs your attention at the beginning and it won't let go until the end. I like the main character and how the author has let him evolve.
Liked the family aspects of storyline, and protective news of Chance. Did get a little tired of time it took to capture and kill the main enemy, Garrett.
Chance, along with his partner, get a case to check out a husband who is acting funny. During their investigation, they find that the man is secretly hiding people who are in the Witness Protection program and are being targeted by one of the agency's own. It is a good story and it keeps the reader involved. I liked the book
Merged review:
I thought I had previously reviewed this book. Chance and his PI friend get involved with the Witness Protection Program in trying to protect witnesses from being killed. The chase goes to the heart of the program and of course money is involved. Good Book
High Stakes Hunting which is book two in the Chance Reddick series by David Archer is another great fast paced action thriller, this time Chance or The Angel Of Death is working with his friend Pete Dixon as a private investigator, but one particular investigation becomes complicated and as it says in the book description the hunter does indeed become the hunted and also as he discovers his past his not totally disappeared I would like to thank the author for the complimentary copy of High Stakes Hunting.
