This book is very interesting for beginners who want to get to know Nietzsche’s philosophical style. The author draws on several of Nietzsche’s works, with The Gay Science and Beyond Good and Evil being the most frequently referenced, both of which I happen to have read.
Key points in Nietzsche’s philosophy, such as the Will to Power, the Death of God, and Eternal Recurrence, are thoroughly discussed by Romo Setyo.
Understanding Nietzsche is extremely difficult, as his writing style tends to be artistic and metaphorical. The author does a fairly good job conveying Nietzsche’s ideas, although at times the discussion can feel repetitive, such as on the concept of Idée fixe, saying both yes and no to life, and the idea of a pluralistic reality.
Overall, I recommend this book to anyone (especially Indonesians, of course) who wishes to understand Nietzsche more deeply, even though towards the final pages the author includes some slightly subjective viewpoints.
Menarik.
Memuaskan.
