In the second book of this FANGtastic spin-off of Mo O'Hara's New York Times—bestselling My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish chapter book series, an aspiring evil scientist and his mostly evil (and totally forbidden) vampire kitten blast off to Evil Scientist Space Camp.

My epic summer has just gotten even more epic, because Evil Scientist Summer Camp just turned into Evil Scientist Space Camp! AND it will be led by the totally epic evil astronaut Neil Strongarm! Who is looking for evil apprentices for his next space mission! Which means that I could totally go into SPACE!!!

I’m already well on my way to Evil Emperor of the Camp. Winning this competition should be easy. Okay, so maybe I didn’t expect Geeky Girl to be quite so good at being evil, but I know I’ve got this. All I need is a plan. Hmmm . . . I wonder if you can take evil kittens on space stations.

Let the Epic Evil Spaceness begin.

Signed,
The Great and Powerful Mark

"Originally from America, I moved to London because I wanted to live abroad but spoke no foreign languages. After a brief and unsuccessful stint as a serving wench at the Tower of London I found work as an actress and comedy performer. I’ve perfomed regularly at Edinburgh and London comedy festivals. A few years back I got a job touring around the UK as a storyteller and that’s when I discovered that kids liked, laughed at and didn’t fall asleep when I performed stuff that I wrote myself. I was hooked on writing and performing for kids..."

Another epic adventure with Mark, Fang, and the other campers at Camp Mwhaaa-haa-ha-a-watha. In this one, the campers compete for a chance to go into space with the evil astronaut Neil Strongarm. But as with most competitions at Evil Scientist Summer Camp, there's more to it than first meets the eye.

A great second book in the series that follows the same style as the first. Same humor, same great illustrations, and same engaging writing style, but with an all new space-themed adventure.

A perfect fit for those who enjoyed O'Hara's My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish series and are looking for more epic adventures set in the same universe.

Such a fun series to read.

In this spin-off to the My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish series, Mark is honing his evil skills at a summer camp. When astronaut Neil Strongarm makes a guest appearance and promises the campers that the boy or girl who performs the best of a series of space-related tests will become his apprentice and blast off into space. Mark does his best to win, but he and Igor stumble upon the truth about Neil's plans. It's up to Mark to stop him in his tracks, and with the help of Boris, Geeky Girl's budgie, and Fang, Mark's beloved vampire cat, he manages to do so. Readers will get a kick out of Fang's antics and Mark's fondness for space food. Readers in search of a good laugh with relatable characters will find it here. This series is growing on me.

Neil Strongarm is coming to the evil summer scientist space camp and the kids are totally excited to meet their hero especially Mark. Neil is the king of evil in their eyes. Neil gets the kids to compete against each other with a huge prize.....joining Neil as he goes into space to start a new space station. The competition is fierce, all of them wanting to win. As people lose in the trials they seem to be disappearing. Mark and Geeky Girl start to realize something isn't right. They hate to suspect their hero Neil but evidence leads there. Who will win the competition? What's happening to everyone who doesn't win?

Actual rating: 3.5 stars. Still a fun read. Neil Strongarm is kind of a perfect character for this world. And though O'Hara's not really trying to do elaborate world building, the bit about the Bureau of Evil Double-Crossing actually makes this world of evil geniuses make more sense.

Super fun for kiddos who love space, with enough jokes for the parents to enjoy, too.

Mark again tells about Summer Camp, Evil Space, same cast, focus on three main counsellors. Plus guest star Villain Neil Strongarm, has fits if mis-named Armstrong, who has an evil plan that takes over backstage. Until the final scene when cute well-clawed and toothy kitten Fang, she rules!
