Messy People - Women's Bible Study Participant Workbook: Life Lessons from Imperfect Biblical Heroes

Rate this book
God can turn your messy life into a masterpiece.Every life gets messy at times. Sometimes these messes are literal, like a house that would be easier to condemn than to clean. But sometimes they are intangible messes such as illness, conflict, depression, abuse, bankruptcy, divorce, and job loss. And these messes can be painful, hurting our hearts and our homes. But as we see in the Bible, God loves to use messy people! In this six-week study, we will dig into the lives of biblical heroes who were messy people just like us but who were used by God in powerful ways. Together we will examine the stories of five wonderful but messy people and one messy parable Rahab, the Prodigal Son, Josiah, Mary, David, and Daniel. From their stories, we will learn how God can use broken people, restore damaged hearts and relationships, give us power to handle our critics, and help us deal with the hard moments of life. Along the way we’ll discover that we don’t have to just endure messy lives but can actually learn to thrive with God’s guidance and help. In the hands of God, our messes can become His masterpieces! The participant workbook, to be used along with the study's DVD, includes five days of lessons for each week, combining study of Scripture with personal reflection, application, and prayer.Other components for the Bible study, available separately, include a Leader Guide, and DVD with six 10-15 minute sessions.

It’s a perfect woman’s devotional. It goes through different stories of people in the Bible who are considered “messy, imperfect, and broken” just like all of us. It’s a good reminder that God does not want the “perfect” Christian but you can come as you are to Him and He will love you all the same.

Each of our lives gets messy at times ... illness, depression, divorce, job loss, conflict. In this Bible study, we are assured that God loves and uses messy people. The six-week study looks at the messy lives of those in the Bible and how God used them in powerful ways.
I studied this book with my RH Women's Bible Study group, which included streaming sessions with the author. Her insights and personal experiences gave me a new perspective on Rahab, The Prodigal Son, Josiah, Mary, David, and Daniel.

This study is very well put together. I like how the author breaks things down and the help on reflection and prayer. What is also wonderful is you do need to have a Bible near you. The verses are provided for you pertaining to the daily reading. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner has no bearing on my review.

Pretty good Bible study. Jen Cowart is great in the videos and the videos are short 10-15 minutes. I liked the idea of how God works through messy people and situations and I liked the study. The collection was widely disparate though (from prodigal son to Mary to Daniel) so it will be hard to remember the takeaways.

This is a beautiful bible study. I love the layout of the daily readings. This book gives hope to the people who don’t always feel like they “have it all together.” I would highly recommend this book!

Great bible study for a women's small group! What I got out of this study was God specializes in using people who are "failures." God's grace is activated and perfected through our weaknesses, and people don't need to be perfect but forgiven.

I rarely give a 5-star review, but this book was exceptional. It gave us practical steps for living daily for Him, based upon Biblical heroes lives and what they went through and how they were just everyday, messy people. It encourages us to look at the lives of those in the Bible and see that Jesus can use each of us - everyday, messy people to accomplish His will. We all have messy areas in our life and this book helps us see that yes, we can! We can live for Him, we can do His will, we can help others, etc. Loved it.

Great study. I went into it thinking it would help me deal with the messy people in my life. Lo and behold, I am the messy person but God can still use me! Great lessons and the author did well using Scripture and relating it to today.

The lessons are not long and I appreciate that the Bible verses are included in the lessons so you don't have to have several books and have to stop and look them up.

I originally thought it was going to be a bible study to help me deal with messy people but to my startling surprise lol, it was about myself being a messy person. It was honestly an eye opener at times and gave you some really great questions to make you think deeper. I really enjoyed this study.
