Abby Maguire's Iowa based travel phobic mom is coming to visit… virtually. Abby will give her the grand tour via a video link to prove Eden is a safe town. All goes well until her mom joins a tour group and one of her fellow passengers dies. There's enough circumstantial evidence to warrant looking into the death and while Abby's focus is on keeping her mom in the dark, it doesn't take long for her mom to suspect Mr. Howington is not just camera shy, but is in fact dead. Abby, in a bid to get her mother to stop worrying about her living half the world away in Australia, decides to have her mom come along with her virtually when she returns from a vacation in the states. Of course, not everything goes as planned. While the whole town is in on keeping her mother in the dark about anything bad that happens, a tourist does and mayhem ensues!
I loved how Abby's mom is treated as if she is really there in Australia with her. The townspeople are happy to play along and go to great lengths to make her feel welcome. The murder however, makes even the best plans go down in flames. Watching Abby scramble around trying to keep her mom in the dark, was fantastic! The struggle was real, people! Of course, her mom finds out, but after a bit of yelling, she settles in to help solve the case.
Abbey is giving her mom a virtual your when a murder occurs. I love how the storyline went with the town trying to keep Eleanor from knowing about the murder.
Another great read in the series using an original slant on investigating a murder. When Abbey returns back to Eden she has her mother with her. Sort of. Her mother is having a virtual visit before she commits to travelling down under. Most people are all too happy to talk and interact with her. Including a coach tour that has been organised by a lottery winner. However when Abbey finds out that the winner is dead under dubious circumstances (her mother had really taken a shine to him)) the whole town works with Abbey to keep it quiet. How long can they keep it up? How will Abbey investigate with her mother along? Did anyone have a motive for wishing harm to the dead man? Humour as well as good old fashioned sleuthing in a plot that will keep you guessing.
Abby and Faith are at it again, another murder in this small town, as reporters and naturally nosy, they try to discover the murderer. A lot of twists and turns, a little humor and a fun storyline. Another fantastic series by Sonia.
I really enjoyed this series to date. It's no secret that Abby's mom does not want her anywhere that is dangerous, and so far, in the small town of Eden, Australia, there has been 3 murders. Some would say this all started when Abby arrived. The new lifestyle reporter moonlighting as the investigative crime reporter through no fault of her own. Hoping to put her mom's mind at ease, and maybe get her to come to Eden in person on vacation one day, Abby decides to have her mom vacation virtually so she can see just how sweet Eden and its townspeople are. With firm instructions to everyone in Eden that under no circumstances should there be another disaster befall the town, specifically one that results in a dead body, Abby sets out to show her mom all of the things that make Eden a great place to live.
Unfortunately, not everyone got the memo and when Abby's mom befriends a touring bus group's benefactor, and said benefactor ends up dead, well, there's no keeping Abby from looking into the death and no keeping the secret from mom either.
Again, a fun read, and one that makes me want to take that trip to Australia that I've dreamed about. I think the deadly critters scare me more than the possibility of a murder....
Abby returns to Australia after a visit with her mom. She brings her mom with her for a virtual vacation and to see the town. There's a tour bus in town, courtesy of a man who treated all of his friends to a sightseeing tour of Australia after winning the lottery. When Bert dies of a heart attack. Everyone assumes it's natural causes until the autopsy reveals his medication hwas tampered with.
Now, all Abby has to do is figure out how to investigate and keep her mom in dark at the same time.
Another fun read with many interesting situations as the MC tries to keep her mother’s virtual visit light-hearted despite the occurrence of yet another murder in the small town. Ms. Parin has several terrific series and my favorite one depends upon which I’m reading. Yes, Ms. Parin is just that great at telling stories!
It was my pleasure to receive this free book from the author and give my honest review.
Oh so many people and so many possible suspects! Abby, her dog Doyle upset Joshua the cop incessantly! Her friend, Faith and Abbys mother Eleanor ,with their friends and a group of tourists off a bus could all be suspects! Abby and Faith, with the help of Mom ,figure out the killer and coerce Joshua to believe them! Lots of craziness and lots of people, but a great storyline and a surprise at the end! Love it!
I enjoyed the Deer Abby books. They are funny and lighthearted cozy mysteries. The protagonist is endearing, and the other characters are quirky and engaging. I appreciated that the plots of the series did not follow the cozy mystery norm. There are moments in each book that I laughed out loud. I look forward to new books in this series.
A bus load of friends on a bus tour paid for by a man who won a lot of money. He suddenly dies. Was it natural or was it murder. A question to be solved by two reporters. Well written with good character portrayals.
This was quite a thriller. Abby needs to be more careful. The storyline was exciting and the many characters were interesting. I really enjoy your books.
